I know we used to joke that what made OFMD special was the cast and crew being normal about queer people but actually, no. They're not normal about queer people, they're feral about us. They're adoring about queer people. They approach queerness with such joy and depict it with such incredible care and excitement and love. They approach making a show about queerness with the same level of childlike glee Steven Spielberg approached making a movie about dinosaurs. And I fucking LOVE IT.
so anyways I wanted to attach this to a reblog of this post but I couldn't and I just feel like the people need to know exactly how he said this sentence because it's so so so funny.
Taika Waititi: --and I like to go on, personally, because I'm ego-mad, I like to go on social media and see all of the fan art and see all of this incredible soft.. gay.. porn.. that's been created around our characters and stuff and I just really get off on it BUT it's really nice for, uh, to, to see people say, "Finally!" --
kristiannairn: So , I’m not gonna try to tag everyone in this video, because there’s a lot .. a lot of the best people ever. Thank you @sambaschutte for giving me this amazing memory to rewatch. This was my last day on S2. #crewlove
Q: This question is specifically for Nathan and Kristian. ...Anyway, one thing I love about Lucius is that on a ship full of queer characters, he still manages to be the gay one. And also, he is a flamboyant gay man who is not just mean, he is not a sassy gay friend, he’s like a whole character. He’s like a whole person and I just really love that. And I was wondering, for you two... like, to what extent did you intentionally... did you think about how... Like, for Kristian, do you think Wee John is specifically gay? For either of you, what, you know, did you think about how flamboyant your body movements are? Nathan, you have very gay hands. It’s one of my favourite things in the show. Like, were you thinking about that? Or were you thinking about, like, Lucius being potentially non-monogamous? And that sort of thing or, given that it was, like, such a diverse group, was that sort of not as much a concern?
