im too babie to do a full nuzlocke run so this is my attempt at a soft nuzlocke. a nuzlite, if you will

-can only catch 1 pokemon per area, but you get 1 more chance if you accidentally kill the first one

-fainted pokemon must go into a box until you beat the next gym

-(if swsh) can only dynamax in the champion match. can only mega evolve in champion match too

-completed gyms are checkpoints 

-exp share is optional

-no dupes (including evolutionary lines)

-egg(s)/gift pokemon are ok to use

-traded pokemon are ok but only 1. choose wisely

-overlevelling caps at opponent’s highest level poke +2

-if you need a full team but youve run out of available areas /theres no 'alive’ pokemon in your box (i.e. havent beaten the next gym yet), you must go back to route 1/starting area to catch a baby and raise it to the right level, with no exp share in this case.

#once i complete my swsh pokedex i might do this for shield #or. once i have the cash to buy a newer pokemon ill do this from the start

I've decided to do a sword/shield Nuzlocke because A, its absolutly the most forgiving game to do a Nuzlocke in (you have some ability to pick your first encounter, you have easy access to experience in the Wild Zone without your pokemon fainting. It's honestly kind of a NuzLite unless you modify it, and frankly I am too weak emotionally to do a true Nuzlocke) and B, I never actually finished the game playing normally? I feel like it has a little too much freedom to truly feel like a pokemon game to me. I got bogged down in having like 2 dozen pokemon I wanted to actively train by the mid game and its too easy for me to be distracted by training in the wild zone

So im hoping giving myself the one catch per area and fainting = death restrictions will give me the motivation to finish it. Because having a pokemon game set in my country gives me so much serotonin, I absolutly love all the slightly clumsy slang and the fact the enemy team are just. Incredibly gentle and Not Bad football hooligans

for my very first pokémon game (i.e. brilliant diamond), i decided to play a Nuzlite version – not a true Nuzlocke, but in the same spirit to add some challenge to the game. rules i'm following:

Can only catch one Pokémon of each species.

Can't catch the evolved form of any Pokémon I already have. (Pre-evolved forms of Pokémon I have are okay, since there'd be no other way of getting one, and I want to fill up my Pokédex.)

No over-leveling. Keep Pokémon in my party within 5 levels of the gym leader's team on average. (Soft rule since the built in XP share makes it too easy to level up your Pokémon.)

Starter must be in my party at all times.

No reviving during battles.
