Day 3 - Miraculous Nature

"To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself." ― Thich Nhat Hanh

An essential truth is that our true self is not only the source of all our love, but also that our essential nature is pure love itself. When we know and feel this deeply, then we can accept and love ourselves in the truest sense. This is the self-love that will profoundly change our relationships. It is different from the self-love of the ego which is focused on the temporary traits of our body, thoughts, and feelings.

Today we begin to let go of self-judgment as we experience the wholeness and truth of our essential nature. We open our hearts to ourselves and let ourselves feel the love that has been there all along.

Day 3 - Miraculous Nature

Question 1 of 4

1)Describe the things that you have the most difficulty accepting about yourself.

2)Take a moment to think about the quality of your internal dialogue. Is it gentle and loving or more critical and judgmental? Describe the messages you give to yourself each day: are you patient, angry, gentle? Be specific.

3)Write three positive “I am…” affirmations that provide words of support, compassion, and encouragement to you. Address the areas from Question 1 that are the most difficult for you to accept about yourself. For example, if you have a difficult time feeling like you fit in, you could write, “I am unique, interesting, and see the world in a one-of-a-kind way.”

4)Use this space to reflect further on your experience today.

Robert W. Baldwin ‎– Wilderness Thunderstorm #1992 NorthSound ‎– NSAC 02944 This is a continuous field recording, 60 minutes total. As indicated by the "Wildness" in the title this one is pretty damn loud and varied, far more bird calls (loons, owls, etc.) and even a wolf or two. It's also recorded close to a body of water, water drops are loud and deep, lot of splashing of waves around 39:00 near whatever pond or lake or river the recording was made. Insects and amphibians chirp, rainfall varies in intensity and lightening strikes are consistent and rhythmic. Almost too consistent in fact. I can't help but notice the loon calls sounds not just familiar, but damn identical to the stock sample bird call used in 808 State hit "Pacific State" which has been attributed to a E-Mu sound library. I don't think it's the same exact sample but I can't help but wonder if this release, while nonetheless real field recordings, actually various sources mixed and dubbed into a more cohesive and dynamic soundscape, versus a single recording as with the earlier soundscape recordings I posted. I posted a Robert W. Baldwin release earlier and this is one of many nature recordings he made that were released on NorthSound. Credited only as the producer but and I can't find other info for him online: I think this might further indicate this recording being a more studio-heavy production product wise than a release of a dedicated sound ecologist. NorthSound Press was a new age and environmental field recording centered label, much of it's distro being via store kiosks in malls, department stores, lifestyle stores, etc. in the 1990s. Dan Gibson's ‎Solitudes – Pacific Suite #1990 Of the profusion of field recording / natural soundscape music albums and multimedia that came after Irv Teibel's influential Environments series (i.e. Naturequest, Northsound, Reflections, Lifescapes, etc.) Dan Gibson's ‎Solitudes series is perhaps the best known. The late Canadian producer was certainly the most successful and prolific, spanning from the late 70s through early 00s, producing a variety of albums using varying approaches. Nonethless the central theme was these albums incorporated new age oriented but nonetheless varied instrumental music with field recordings and natural soundscapes. This album from his "Exploring Nature With Music" series is a good example.
