every criticism of academia on here makes me want to become an institutions defender which I don’t want to be but man you guys don’t know what you’re talking about

#just saw a ‘fandom is revolutionary unlike the academy’ post #can’t you guys just like stuff a normal amount. your hobbies do not need to have a liberatory moral purpose #doing media analysis on tumblr is just for fun it’s not political action #and also. lol. informed media analysis comes from academic theory #like again not to be an institutions defender. but if you’re doing feminist or marxist or etc analysis of your shows. where do you think #those ideas come from. they are durable theories because they’ve been challenged and tested across time #NOT TO MENTION. that digital spaces including fandom reproduce a lot of the problems you are localising to the academy #use ur noggin!!!!
