I actually just had a few messages about this and was reading some of the reblog tags. I'm basically going to say what I sent back.

First of all, for sure! One piece is one of those fandoms where I can get behind almost any pairing and situation because the characters are so versatile. This was just a take on it. A good story is a good story regardless of pairing or lack of.

Luffy could still be dominant and possessive and all that stuff while being a bottom. Never said he couldn't. I just said sometimes it would be nice to see something different. You can be dominant and prefer to bottom. A lot of people do. Luffy can bite and manhandle and drag Law around and totally be bottom. I feel like we explore that side of Luffy a lot so this would be fun to explore as well.

Personally I love fics where they switch, same with Zosan. I also love love love power dynamic relationships though so that impacts the plots I like and relationships I like as well.

And you're 100% correct to say that nothing at all impacts preferences in bed except what the person likes.

However, a lot of people do write characters like that based on things such as physical appearances. I don't really agree with that but that also feeds into why I'd like to see this type Luffy. I feel like people designate him to being a bottom because he is small. Which is kind of silly but to each their own.

I was active in my local kink community before covid and loved it because of all the personalities and how everyone did everything different. That also goes back to me enjoying power dynamic relationship though. I like some element of that in the relationships I read about. That's just me personally though.
