guys I had this realization the other day that Redwall works really well for reading aloud, and kinda half-remembered something about the author reading to kids? So I looked it up to see if I had made a connection.

And it turns out, yes, actually, because he read aloud to kids at a school for the blind. But all the books they gave him to read were depressing. So he wrote Redwall, a story about heroism and courage and making it through struggles, and filled it with so many sensory, visual details so he could give them something better and I just-- that's so wholesome-- help

I don't think I've really sat down and let enough sink in about how brutally real Riz's whole deal is this season. It's a kid raised by his single mother, reckoning with his father's absence, who never had any true friends until this gang of bumblefucks. And now he's faced with a future where his friends failing school is not the problem, no, what's really stressing him out is figuring out how the hell he gets it to where they all end up in the same place. How does he keep them together. Because at the end of the day simply passing isn't gonna cut it if they all go down different roads and he ends up alone all over again.

The feeling of being a kid who has been bullied their entire life, finally acquiring good friends who make you happy, and then the nauseating dread and panic when you start to realize that it can't last forever. Murph you fucking criminal.

I love when the bad kids are goofing off and committing to the bit, but I LOVE when they're showing off how smart, genuine, and KIND they all are.

Riz making sure his mom was okay with talking about her case before asking her about it. And taking stress on for his friends! He has no stress from his own shit but he so desperately wants all his friends to succeed and be happy and stay TOGETHER.

Kristen laying Yolanda and Lucy to rest and connecting to Cassandra while she's lost. Commiting mirscles and earning her spells back even when she doesnt have a diety.

Gorgug not wanting to give into his rage without having a good reason. Sweet boy, you're ALLOWED to get mad for yourself.

Fabian creating a safe space for his friends to study and hang out and just RELAX if they need a break. While at his absolute lonliest, he wanted to make sure that, even if they don't have time right now, his friends have a space where they can get away.

Adaine helping Gorgug with his school work even though there's a chance it'll make it harder for her to do well in her own classes. Casting counterspell to protect a kid she doesn't even like because she couldn't just stand by while someone got hurt.

Fig CONSISTENTLY putting herself out there to help those around her feel loved and making sure her friends have all the support she can give them.

They just care so much even though the world has given them so many reasons not to.

the friendship between riz and fabian is so beautiful because it's so subtle. just the little things that show fabian really cares and notices riz is beautiful to me. he has conspiracy board equipment already at his house, he notices every time riz disappears to hide, he literally still uses the special nickname riz got at the start of freshman year when they met (despite no one else really using it much anymore) because it's special to him and their friendship. how fabian shows his love to his loved ones is genuinely so sweet and special.
