The story is centred on Sakshi (Anushka Shetty), a talented deaf and mute artist, who gets entangled in a criminal investigation when she unexpectedly witnesses a tragic incident that occurs in a villa with a reputation for being haunted. The film has been directed by Hemant Madhukar
While Rana released the Telugu version of the trailer, Vijay Sethupathi unveiled the Tamil version.
The first look poster of Anushka’s character from Nishabdam was unveiled last September. Anushka as Sakshi expresses herself through her art. In the poster, Anushka is seen gazing at something and painting it on the drawing board in front of her.
The entire film has been shot in Seattle, USA. Originally shot in Tamil and Telugu, Nishabdam will also be released in Malayalam. The film has been titled Silence in Tamil and Malayalam.
Nishabdham also stars Anjali, Shalini Pandey, Subbaraju and Srinivas Avasarala in pivotal roles. Hollywood actor Michael Madsen will be essaying a key role.
Last seen on screen in a cameo in Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, Nishabdam will be Anushka’s major release since Bhaagamathie, which is being remade in Hindi with Bhumi Pednekar as Durgavati

Anushka Shetty’s visa woes end! - The delay in getting visa clearance had interrupted the US schedule of her forthcoming film, Silence.
Actress Anushka Shetty can breathe easy now! The Baahubali actress, who has been facing issues with regards to visa clearance for her forthcoming film Silence, is finally set to leave for the US.
Apparently, Anushka was supposed to start shooting for the film in February. However, the current stringent policies resulted in a delay in getting the visa clearance, pushing the shoot to mid-May. Now, the actress is all set to commence shooting for the film next week.

A source informs, “Anushka Shetty had applied for the O1 Visa, which is given to people who demonstrate extraordinary ability in the arts, sports or the sciences. However, the current stringent procedure resulted in a delay in getting the visa clearance. The unit too is all kicked to start shooting.”
Directed by Hemanth Madhukar, the silent thriller starring Madhavan, is written and co-produced by Kona Venkat.

Raai Lakshmi's first 2011 release was Christian Brothers, which was a huge commercial success. Her next two films were Tamil projects, the comedy-horror Kanchana and the Venkat Prabhu-directed action-thriller Mankatha, starring Ajith Kumar. She played a negative character in the latter, which was received positively by critics. Both films emerged high financial successes. Following Kanchana's success, she was signed on to reprise the role in its Kannada remake too.
