Further along in the Ice Planet Barbarians’ universe and have to say: Lilah and Rokan, Kira and Aehako, Georgie and Vektal are still the worse of the group. I know Lilah and Rokan as well as Kira and Aehako have massive followings but damn- they have the least amount of chemistry of all the couples so far.
It was like reading the back of a cake box that only uses water to spice it up…
I loved Bek and Elly. (The Barbarian’s Redemption) That story was so well written and broke my heart more than once. Elly was such a brilliant character and how she showed Bek what it was like being a slave? Just really hit hard.
Kate and Harrec (The Barbarian’s Lady)- Kate was so sweet and I loved how she found a kindred spirit in Liz (who, let’s face it, is one of my favorite characters). Harrec has always been one of my favorite aliens. I found him adorable in Stacy and Pashov’s book and was really looking forward to his- it didn’t disappoint. His dislike of seeing his own blood and how Kate helped him overcome it made me grin. And I can’t forget the cute little baby snowcat they adopted- my cat loving heart burst at that. I hope we see more of Mr Fluffypuff as the series goes on.
Summer and Warrec (Barbarians Rescue)- well it was fine. Summer started out as really entertaining with her verbal vomit, but toward the mid-point of the book… I was over her. Warrec seemed so much more put together than her and it felt a little forced toward the end. I think they are cute together- but do I think they are one of the best couples… no. I think I rated this book a 3/5 stars because it was decent- just not my favorite.
Lauren and K’thar (Lauren’s Barbarian)- again they were okay. Lauren started to grate on my nerves and the whole- “it’s the end of the world so let’s have repeated sex” trope was played out in this book. I will say Lauren is intelligent and K’thar is sweet. I liked them but I don’t think they rank in my top 15 or even close to it. They were merely alright.
Veronica and Ashtar (Veronica’s Dragon)- I loved this book. I loved how adorably clumsy Veronica was and how fierce Ashtar was. I loved how he knew right away she was meant for him. I loved the friendship with the other aliens he gained at the end. I loved the sweet heat that was between him and Veronica. It was good! Really good! They definitely entered my top ten couples for this universe.
Just started Willa’s Beast… can’t wait to see how I like it. I’ve seen many mixed reviews on it..

My Couple Rankings (so far) from Ruby Dixon books
So I've read all the Risdaverse books and about half of the original Ice Planet Books (except for some of the short stories) I'm up to Farli's book- though I don't know if I'll read that because it feels weird thinking of Farli having sex (when we started she was 13-14 and a kid) These rankings might change. These opinions will be somewhat unpopular as well...
Here are my bottom four then I'll do my top ten: (1 is the worse couple- 4 is the best of the bottom)
1) Georgie and Vektal- The more I read about this couple the more I dislike them. They are the first couple you meet, but, to me, they are the most annoying. Vektal is supposed to be a leader- but all his decisions are horrible and I will never quite forgive him for thinking since Raahosh was banished, Liz should jump on another tribe member like it's no big deal- when he KNOWS that being a mate means a lot. Yes Georgie talked him out of it, but the fact he thought it was a good idea to begin with... just mind blowing. Georgie just irks me. Could be because of the audiobook reader insisting on giving her a country accent- which she's from ORLANDO Florida- the girl would not have a country accent! Liz would, not Georgie.
2) Kira and Aehako- They were cute, until they got boring. Aehako and Kira could have been good, but towards the middle part of the book, I was just ready for them to mate and go away. Aehako acting like a dick about Harlow didn't help and I still don't understand why Vektal made him the leader of the second set of caves. Kira had very little personality but I did feel for her at first- her interactions with the kidnappers was well done, but yeah- not my favorite couple at all.
3) Lila and Rokan- Another couple that had potential, but Lila was so boring at the beginning that I instantly wanted the book to end. I think the kidnapping plot was not the best way to go and frankly I was tired of Lila pretty quickly. I think a better story would have been for Maddie (Lila's sister) to be kidnapped instead. This girl annoyed me so much, I didn't finish this book because I didn't care about her getting rescued. Such a waste. The only reason they aren't the bottom couple is because they didn't make me hate them, I just didn't care. I was invested in Kira and Georgie so their stories were frustrating and disappointing.
4) Lucy and Rektar- (When She's Bold- Risdaverse) This couple just didn't move the needle for me. It wasn't bad. It was cute and Lucy was bubbly. The story itself is short and that might have had something to do with it. My favorites from this series are the longer ones. But yeah- cute, but not one that I remember in great detail.
Here are my Top Ten:
10) Asha and Hemalo- This couple took me by surprise. I really didn't think I would enjoy them as much as I did, but honestly- their story was heartbreaking. Asha's deep sadness and Hemalo's unwavering love was so sweet to read. If anything it made me not like Aekaho and Kira even more because of how they treated her in their book- yes I understand it was their book and she was trying to creep on Aekaho- but still seeing what she was going through and knowing that she was just needing comfort- well I get that. I was so pleased by the end of Asha and Hemalo's book. I'm happy for how it all turned out.
9) Nicola and Emvor- (The Alien's Mail-Order Bride- linked to Risdaverse) This is the story of my trope I think. From here on out most of the couples will have similar themes. Emvor is broken from war and scarred and a loner, Nicola is a human that needs to find someone to protect her and she lies about how she looks to get a male order husband. It's cute and sweet and I loved how protective he got right away. This one is a short story, but it made me smile.
8) Maddie and Hassen- Everything wrong with Lila and Rokan is made right with this book for me. I loved Hassen (and really didn't hate him from his kidnapping of Lila- I got where he was coming from and even though it was wrong, I felt his desire for a family) Maddie is sassy and can be cruel, but under all that beat the heart of a woman that wants to be needed. She spent her whole life caring for her (undeserving) sister and suddenly she's thrust into a world where she isn't needed any longer. She also has a lot of insecurities that a lot of females feel. Hassen and her are hot together, and real as well. They go into their union without expectations (or Maddie does anyway- one taste of Maddie and Hassen is hooked). It felt like together they made each other whole and I loved that.
7) Claire and Ereven- They haven't been featured by themselves yet (or maybe never now) but I like them. Claire is sweet and her first "relationship" with Bek was not great, but when she started flirting and falling for Ereven- it was so sweet. I love how kind and gentle he is with her and how he encourages her. Her friendship with Asha was made possible because Ereven knew how special Claire was and how she could reach Asha by being herself. Such a sweet couple.
6) Harlow and Rukh- This book was a bit of a mix between Georgie/Vektal and Liz/Raahosh because he kidnapped her (Raahosh) and they couldn't communicate (Georgie/Vektal) but it was made sweeter because of Rukh's almost childlike nature. He had been on his own for so long and once he found Harlow- he couldn't understand what was happening. I loved how she taught him how to speak and he took such good care of her. This couple was both innocent and hot and I love their little baby Rukhar
5) Sophie and Jerrok- (When She Belongs) Grumpy loner and traumatized human meet and bicker. The slow burn of this duo made it so worthwhile when they finally got together. Jerrok had so many issues with how he looked and his own trauma, but at the core of him was a man that had just been through so much and just wanted to be left alone. Sophie was the same. She was a slave and still had a lot of anger and fear to work through. Together they found a home and hope... with the help of a very protective spider/cat pet named Sleipnir.
4-a) Stacy and Pashov- I don't have much to say about them, other than I just melted reading their book. I felt so bad for Stacy as she struggled with having a mate that didn't remember her or their baby and poor Pashov just wanted to love her. Their story was really a sweet tale of rediscovering love. And Pacy being a part of it was just adorable.
4-b) Josie and Haeden- Grumpy and bubbly strikes again. I can't help that I have a type. This couple were hilarious and awkward and adorable. Poor Haeden had a long journey to get his mate, but once he got her- pure cuteness and heat. I have reread their story at least three times and smile and giggle and sigh each time. I loved their "bedtime" story short with their son as well.
3) Tessa and Zokoar- (When She Dances) So much goodness with this story- both were introduced (sort of) in Sophie and Jerrok's story. You see Tessa and meet Zokoar and I was intrigued right away. Zokoar is another broken male, both physically and emotionally. He thinks himself hideous and that no one could ever want him because he is scarred up and has metal plating. Tessa does want him though. She thinks about him while stuck as a slave and hopes one day he will rescue her. When it happens that's when the real story starts. While this story isn't a "slow burn" (they have sex right away) it's still a beautiful story. Zokoar finds peace with Tessa and Tessa finds love with him.
2) Kim and Nassakth- (When She Purrs) Full disclosure... this was the first book I read. Nassakth is also the only non-Mesakkah/Sa-Khui alien. He is a cat-like creature called Praxiian and can be ferocious. In the other books the Praxiian are not seen as heroic characters and are often placed in the role of villain- but Nassakth is protective and loving- especially to Kim. The premise of this story is straight up romcom. Kim hires a bounty hunter to get her a husband to protect her from her neighbor who she's convinced is going to kill her, her neighbor is Nassakth who is really trying to court her in this most feline of ways. The bounty hunter wraps her up a husband and to her shock it's the very male she was trying to avoid. Their love story is a slow burn but its sweet as well. Nassakth understands Kim's trauma about being a freshly freed slave, having been one himself and he gives her confidence to take control of her life again. I just love them!
Liz and Raahosh- Hands down my favorite couple! From start to finish I adored this book. Liz is quite possibly the best character in the series. Her observations and thoughts were down right hilarious, especially when she was talking to Raahosh when she didn't know he could understand her. Raahosh is the most patient of males when it comes to her. I could not help but adore them together. Raahosh's back story was so heartbreaking and once again, I fell for his silent/grumpy nature. I enjoyed how strong and smart Liz was. She wasn't some shrinking damsel. She taught Raahosh how to use a bow and when he was injured she nursed him back to health. They were just so great together and each time they show up in another story it fills me with glee. This story was the start of my dislike for Vektal and Georgie (it has since grown). I loved Liz outsmarting them to get back with her mate.

Book 8 in the Ice Planet Barbarians- Barbarian’s Touch
Lila and Rokan- boring as hell… I want to like this couple but damn- she is dull as fish water and he isn’t very interesting either so far. I think it will get better but right now: zzzzz 😴🥱
Thinking seriously of skipping these two and moving onto Hassen and Maddie because they seem so much more interesting.

Eight books into The Ice Planet Barbarians series and I have some unpopular opinions:
1) Kira is boring and I lost interest in her after her book. Aehako and her might have been cute at the start but she became so boring and he decided that Harlow would just abandon them without ever thinking- hey she’s a human on an ice planet full of danger- maybe she could be hurt or lost…! Any way- they become one of my least favorite couples and every time one of them appears I want to skip to a place they aren’t.
2) Georgie and Vektal can leave. Haven’t liked them since the second book. And really wasn’t that interested in them in their book.
—————
Meanwhile: Rukh/Harlow, Josie/Haeden, Raahosh/Liz and Maddie have my heart.
Liz and Raahosh are the best couple so far. I think without them I would have stopped after book 2, but every time Liz shows up- she makes the book better and I just picture Raahosh looking at his mate with an expression that is equal parts 😍 and 😳
Rukh and Harlow were a treat and I loved the way he took care of her and how she taught him basic things without being annoying. Their book was so cute.
Josie and Haeden are my trope. Haeden’s complete lack of understanding about how to woo a woman was so sweet and I just wanted to hug him. When they finally began to talk and really understand each other- perfection. I especially enjoyed when his rare playfulness came out because it felt like it was only for her.
I’m ready about Lila and Rokan now- but honestly Maddie is stealing the show. I know it’s still early and Lila and Rokan haven’t really interacted yet- so I’m holding out hope, but as of right now- I much prefer Maddie to her sister.

I saw Sergio Cupido's Romeo and Juliet Painting and couldn't help but think of Liz and Raahosh from Ice Planet Barbarians
Everything they had to go through near the end to be together
is one of my favorite books in this series!

Reading A Crown of Thorn and Roses book two- A Court of Mists and Fury and Lord save me- Feyre is literally the most bland “bad ass” I have ever read about.
I’m trying to care about her trauma y’all but damn girl all you are is trauma. From page one of the first book it’s been “poor Feyre” and now we are opening the second book with “Poor Feyre”. Here is the issue- I don’t care about her. For a series that lives in one person’s POV and is first person narrated, it’s a struggle to give a shit. My friend tells me to hang on it gets better but I wish SJM had a better understanding of human emotion and how to dig into a person. Also stop single narratives. It does you no favors when your character is so bland. At this point I just want to read about Lucien and Nesta- who managed to capture my interest so completely after only being in the first book for about 30 pages. Like boss bitch is so strong a glamor put on her by a 500+ year old Fae couldn’t touch her! Now that’s power! Give me that story! Honestly she should be the lead.

Have you abandoned “All Hail The King”?
I haven’t. I’m just in a weird place with my Jaime and Brienne muse right now. I don’t want to write but nothing comes to mind that I’m happy with. Sorry about the radio silence on the story. 😢

Happy Halloween! (If you celebrate) I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to leave a treat for you all that seemed a little interested in the Seven on Seven story I had been writing. I had more written and thought I would post some of it. I hope you enjoy the (totally unfinished and unedited) story:
The command was said without feeling. His father hardly looked up from his desk of papers to tell him. To glance in his son’s direction would give the idea that this was something to be discussed- it wasn’t. It was happening. He would be shipped off to some unknown relative and forced to stay there as a ward. Jaime was only allowed to ask for Tyrion to come after his other cousin could no longer accept the youngest Lannister- a man with a mind much more grand than most much older than he.
The other reason was his attachment to his twin… his beautiful twin. He knew the wrongness of how they acted out after their mother’s funeral. It had been a moment- a kiss, a touch, a need. They reached for the other. It was innocent… until it wasn’t. Locked in a taboo embrace- built from grief and desire to be whole- the golden twins had done things. Things that were only thought of in the darkest of minds- creeping in when no one was looking. Cersei had cried on his shoulder, moved her hands upon him, claimed his lips and he had not resisted.
His father’s cold eyes glaring at them when he walked in on his children was a chill that still haunted him. The punishment had been swift for both- Cersei had been packed up and moved to stay with their Uncle Kevan and he… well he had been given to people that did not know him. His father had also made it clear that he would never see his twin again until he learned his place. And that place was not in her bed. Jaime would never admit it to anyone, it was even hidden from himself sometimes, but as much as he loved his twin- the act had left him feeling dirty. The first time… with each time after, he pushed down that emotion and enjoyed the pleasure of being one with someone else. Part of him wondered if his cousins knew. Did they talk about the twins that did something so Godless as fuck? Did they already believe him worthless?
Jaime clenched his fist outside the door to his and Tyrion’s cabin. He wasn’t worthless! He was a lion! He was a Lannister! They better not disrespect him because of rumor. His father had told him that he was going to be Lord of the greatest House and he knew that was true. A few stolen moments with his twin would not tarnish that. Tywin would never allow anyone to look down on the Lannisters and no one would look down upon him! The Tarth cousins would learn their place as he would learn his.
With a nod of his head to confirm his resolve, he walked into the cabin. Tyrion was curled on his side, a bucket close to his head. The moans coming from his brother were gut-punching. He walked over to the prone body on the bed and pressed his calloused hand against his forehead.
Tyrion blinked up at him through the misery. “Please, dear brother, put me out of my agony.”
“How would I do that?” Jaime asked, reaching over to the small bowl filled with cool water and a rag. He squeezed out the water and wiped his brow. “How can I relieve this discomfort?”
“Either by killing me or telling me we have almost reached our destination,” the dwarf rose up for a moment before leaning over to relieve more from his already empty stomach. The retching was harsh and Jaime turned his head from the sight. “Ugh,” he moaned again, curling more tightly into himself. “I am more inclined for death. At least then I will not have to wait for relief.”
Jaime sighed. “No, Tyrion. I am afraid I will not be bringing the Stranger to you. But I have some news. The island is within sight. Maybe another day of sailing and we will be back on solid ground.”
“Another day…” Tyrion buried his head in the pillow and groaned. “I guess that is doable, but I hope to never sail again. Not a sennight or even a day. This is not the life for me.”
“A pirate you are not,” Jaime smiled. “But we will have to return to Casterly eventually, Tyrion. We will be only here for as long as it takes for me to return to father’s good grace.”
“Father will welcome you back, Jaime, good grace or not,” Tyrion tried to rise on the bed again. This time he made it to the sitting position without much groaning but he still had a greenish tint to his skin. “Father would not care if I returned or not.” Jaime opened his mouth ready to argue but shut it quickly after. Tyrion was unfortunately right. Tywin would accept him back once he had found a match- he would not be shunned- but Tyrion… It hurt to think about how that sentence would end. Tywin would not care if Tyrion died at sea or live the rest of his days in a run down hovel. Out of sight- out of mind- out of the family line. “I see you know I’m telling the truth. I have never been welcome at the Rock. The cousin that was supposed to take me in was the poorest and most reviled of the family. That is my rank in our father’s mind.”
“He is a fool,” Jaime said with passion. How their father could look past his actions that actually brought shame to the family while never even trying with Tyrion was a question too deep for his mind to figure out. “You would make a better Lord than I. Your brain and talent with words are just what the Rock needs.”
“Oh, dear brother,” Tyrion smiled bitterly. “If only we could merge into one. My brain with your strength and charm- The possibilities would be endless.” They shared a smirk- each thinking about what that would be like. Tyrion looked away and pushed himself further up the bed. “Have you seen the island where we will be banished?”
“Aye,” he nodded. “It will be nothing like what we are used to.”
“Mayhaps that is a good thing,” The younger man mused. “The Rock holds some less than pleasant memories. Especially for you.”
“Brother,” Jaime shook his head, “the Rock is our home. It is where we belong,” he met his brother’s eyes. “All of us.”
TBC… if you want to read more

This technically isn’t really a work in progress. Last year during the Brienne and Jaime week we had virtue and sin prompts and I had a brilliant (ha!) idea of writing a long multiple chapter fic which each part being related to one of the prompts. I ended up shelving this and did something else, but I thought I would share it nonetheless since it is Brienne and Jaime week again.
Title: Seven On Seven
Day 1: Humility- Pride:
------------------
Tarth. A rock in the middle of the Narrow Sea. He leaned on the railing of the ship to get a better view. It was nothing like what he was used to. The sea was too blue- the Sunset Sea was darker. The waves were calm- on the Rock the waves crashed hard into the jetties. He squinted his eyes and looked out at the looming island. The sand looked too white- the sun glare was strong. The small line of sand that made up the beach on his home was dimmer with black pebbles mixed into the thick grains.
Jaime Lannister grimaced at his new home. He could already tell this would be nothing like what he was used to in Casterly. He turned from the island and walked back down below to the bulkhead where his brother was trying to rest. He dipped his head, careful not to knock it on the low hanging ceilings. He was already nearly a head taller than most of the men his age twenty. His father, the great Tywin Lannister, told him he would be tall and strong, a true lion that would lead the Lannister family into the next grand chapter.
It wasn’t said with hope. Those words were said with command. He would lead them. He would be the Lord of the Rock. He would have babes that would carry on the tradition of their house. This was not a choice. Jaime didn’t have a choice. This was his future. It was a weight hung around his neck like a noose. With each name day, the rope tightened, cutting off his air and making him feel helpless to stop the slow death coming his way.
The only time he felt happy was when he was with his siblings- Tyrion- his baby brother, twisted and broken, was brilliant and kind. He looked up to Jaime with dual colored eyes in awe. Jaime knew the responsibility he had when he was with Tyrion, but unlike the weight of responsibility he felt at the prospect of being a Lord, he relished it with his younger brother. He loved teaching Tyrion and seeing his brother smile as he got it right. The first time he rode a horse was still a cherished memory in Jaime’s mind. The pony trotted with ease under his little body and the younger boy laughed with so much joy.
Joy was in short supply for Tyrion. He was hated for his looks. He was feared for his deformities. He was loathed for how he came into the world- nearly taking his mother out of it. Their father- while looking on Jaime with pride- barely acknowledged him. The lack of love from Tywin was made up for by their mother… until a fever raged through the Westernland and finally took her from them. That was when the coldness crept into the Rock and Tywin banished his kids to “learn” from others. It was one of the reasons he was on a voyage to meet distant cousins that were hardly on the family tree.
You will go to stay on Tarth with your mother’s fifth cousin, Meryanna. You will watch Selwyn Tarth to see how he governs. You will learn with his son, Galladon, and then return to the Rock on your twenty fifth name day. At such a time, you will be matched to a suitable Lady and will take your place in the Lannister army until it is time to become Lord.

All Hail The King:
Chapter 13: A Tale of A King part 2
Jaime shifted slightly in the throne room, his armor felt heavier than normal and sweat was starting to slip down the back of his neck. King Aerys had been feeling chilly that morn and desired a raging fire be started. It did not seem to bother him any that the sun was beating down from the high windows making all in the space feel as if they were being roasted like the duck he had for dinner the night before. Jaime held his breath as Lord Rickard Stark was led to stand in front of Areys. He watched the man, his heart pounding roughly in his chest knowing exactly why he had come to the capital.
The Northern man walked with confidence. His heavy beard and sturdy body spoke of where he was from, the cold of the North seemed to be a part of him. Each man- father and eldest son, the one that Aerys had locked in the black cells- had a strong presence about them. Jaime could tell and knew from the little they had interacted, the Stark family were proud men- unwavering in their beliefs. He moved his hand toward his sword, resting his fingers around the hilt. His green eyes flickered toward the King and he shivered at what he saw. The madness within him felt like another entity in the room. The mad man was waiting for what the Stark Lord would say, he was clearly hoping that Rickard would let him play with his favorite toy. Jaime prayed he would be dissuaded.
“Lord Rickard Stark,” one of the servants announced as the man stopped at the base of the stairs. The King waved the young page off as if the servant was a fly buzzing around his food. Jaime grit his teeth, locking his jaw to stay silent.
“King Aerys,” The Northern Lord bowed, his large wrinkled hand holding the top of his sword as well. It was non-threatening but could be pulled from the sheath quite easily. Rickard was a man that knew what could happen and he was preparing himself for it. Jaime knew, however, what he thought would only be a pale thought compared to what King Aerys was capable of. “I have come to plead for the release of my son.”
“Your son is a traitor, Lord Stark,” the elderly King pushed himself forward on the throne. Jaime saw some blood bloom on the thin skin of his forearms from the sharp blades that made up the royal chair. “He came here demanding my son be charged with kidnapping.”

Without You, I’m Not Me
Chapter 3: Beginnings
As he got older, he became more refined in his ways. He found he enjoyed hurting the wallets of people that hurt others. And with his name and connections, he knew exactly who those people were. He knew that normal justice took a long time and some would never see it. Jaime also knew his honor was dirty because of his family and the close ties they had to known criminals.
For a fleeting moment he tried to do it the right way. He tried to join the police force and do good for the people that way. But that dream went up in smoke when he was confronted with the truth of life- the bad guys won more often than not. And he itched to do more. Jaime wasn’t pure. Stealing from undeserving people was a thrill and he had always been addicted to the feeling. He made a name for himself- The Golden Lion- and soon would be hired to acquire items that had been stolen or lost. It was lucrative and fun and meant he never had to depend on his father’s brand of thievery. Years he lived a double life- one of a businessman in his father’s company and the other of a thief for hire. The second life was the one he enjoyed the most. It was a rush, it was a drug he never wanted to get clean from.
The tension in his bones, the rush of his blood. He had been with women before that didn’t arouse him the way taking something did. In fact there were several nights when he was younger and just starting out, right after a job, he would long to take a woman to his bed and fuck the adrenaline from his body.
While some people only saw him as an empty suit, a Tywin in training (which was ridiculous- that was Cersei), he was smart when it came to stealing. He began to toy with police. He would leave little clues, hidden and vague, no one ever found them. It was amusing watching them chase ghosts while he stood there in plain sight. Jaime had always been a daredevil. Maybe that was why he couldn’t let go of thievery. It was the only place he felt superior and in control. He certainly wasn’t in control of his own life with his family. His father still loomed large.
It was because of his father that he first saw her. It was supposed to be a quick score. Just a small one really. Jaime had taken it because he had felt bad for the old woman that found him. She begged and pleaded with him to return her husband’s treasure, a trinket really- a family heirloom- much like Cersei had wanted, which had been stolen from them by Aerys to pay for her son’s debts. Jaime still relished taking anything from that man and against his better judgment, he had agreed.
Everything felt wrong to him from the start. The entry had been too easy. There hadn’t been a struggle and he found the item so quickly- not that it had always been a struggle, but it had also never been that easy. Still it wasn’t the lack of excitement that should have told him it would not be a job like any other, it was what he found while there. That was the bank that he knew his father had some… dealings with and he hadn’t been able to help himself in causing some mischief. The extra time spent messing with Tywin’s security box had proved to be costly when he realized that his time had been running out.
He had just placed the lion and was sneaking out when the first wave of police appeared. Jaime ditched the clothes he had been wearing in a dumpster and procured the ones he had stashed there and went to do what he loved to… watch the chaos. That’s when he saw her.

WIP - Without You, I'm Not Me
Well hello! I'm in the process of upheaving my entire life, but I wanted to drop by and leave you a little something. This is part of my White Collar series. This is part of Chapter 3: Beginnings... I hope you like it!
The first thing he stole was because of a crying plea from someone he loved. It was Cersei of course. She had admired a pair of ruby earrings in their Aunt Genna’s jewelry box for years. They had been a Lannister family heirloom, each first daughter (or cousin if the mother was not blessed with a girl) received them then passed them down to the next girl. The Lannisters at that point didn’t have the amount of wealth most believed they had. The family had gotten good at covering up the mistakes made by Tytos’s disastrous business deals.
The Lannister name was tarnished by his lack of business savvy, but his son Tywin, Jaime’s own father, had done much in restoring the wealth that had once been thought of as theirs without question. The earrings were one of the only things that hadn’t been sold to cover debts and so, Cersei believed they should be hers. After all it was their father that was making the money again. Genna was part of the problem in her mind.
And that’s what she fed to him. The earrings were rightfully hers. Not Myra, their cousin, who would receive them once Aunt Genna died. The logic didn’t make sense to him then- still didn’t now- but he had always loved to see his twin smile, especially after their mother’s death, so he snuck in and stole them.
Jaime remembered the weight of them in his pocket. How he had sweated while moving through his aunt and uncle’s home. He had felt nervous and sick and, under all that, excitement. It had been the first taste of danger- or his first taste of flirting with danger- he could recall. He knew it was wrong, and he did feel guilty when he later heard Genna comforting a crying Myra, but he didn’t confess and he didn’t return them. Instead he left the earrings under Cersei’s pillow to find later.
When she finally found them, she had smirked at Myra’s devastated face. Jaime tried not to think about that part of the story. Cersei’s cruel reaction and his own guilt over his cousin’s anguish was swallowed up by the exhilaration of doing something so wrong. It had been a challenge and he had done well.
Or so he thought. His Aunt Genna had known. She had always known him better than he knew himself. The reason she kept it a secret hadn’t been for Cersei’s benefit, but for his. She hadn’t wanted to get him into trouble with his father, who would have been furious.
Again, or so they all thought.
Turned out being a thief ran in the family. Tywin was just a different sort of one. It had been while working for Lannister Inc, that Jaime had seen the truth behind the curtain. The rebuilding of their family wealth was done in ways that left him feeling disgusted. Backroom deals and shady practices that got results. More than one arm, nose and person had been broken on the way to the top.

The fanfiction exchange reveal happened so this was the story I wrote for @leakypaintpen
I really hope you enjoyed the tale that was spun from your prompt. I had never heard of the fairy tale until I received it. Such a unique story!
Tumblr media
The walk through the forest was longer than she thought it would be. Her hands were shaking under her cloak as she moved as quietly as she could toward her destination. The words whispered to her by her Speta, Marta, still sounded in her ears. Joanna Lannister held her breath in her chest and pressed one of her trembling hands to her flat stomach. Her green eyes closed and she released the air from her lungs.
Magic always comes with a price. Joanna knew that but she wanted to give her husband children so she went to the woods and met with a witch. She would conceive, she would bring life forth, she would do as she was told…
Chapter 1: Into the Woods- Joanna's Story
Chapter 2: Covered in Darkness- Jaime's Story
Chapter 3: Sun Star- Brienne's Story
Chapter 4: The Lion and the Sun Star
