Eh, I disagree on the whole "but he was oversexualized ever since he was a teenager!!!!" pearl-clutching that ebbs and flows in this fandom--you know who was literally oversexualized as a teenager? Britney Spears, Xtina, Miley, Taylor, every other teen girl singer undressed and turned out to sell records (that open note Sinead O'Connor wrote to Miley, YEAH). The idea of Harry being linked in shitty UK tabloids to an older woman that he was "dating," even though they were never really seen together, isn't the same thing, and it makes me sad that people seemingly don't get that. His archetype was the cute "slow" one, not the crass "down to fuck" one--ALL of them were put forward as boyfriend material, and people lusted after each of them accordingly. I think Harry's case is fascinating because the way he maintains his closet is fairly obvious in that he's seen to be publicly dating different women. (Louis's has changed a bit, and it's perceived differently accordingly, but I have no doubts that perception would change on a fucking DIME if he dated different women every year or two.) Anyway, I'm wandering away from the question, but I think the difference in thirst is probably because there's anxiety around women thirsting after Harry and it being "real", these presumably heterosexual women are seriously into him, and from what I've seen of Louis thirst, it's definitely NOT heterosexual women, but I could be wrong (I'm just talking about the people I follow who indulge). Some of the low-thrumming anxiety might be because there's a teeny tiny doubt on just how NOT into women Harry might be, whereas Louis seems VERY not into them, hence no fear...these are just my own ramblings, though.
