'Missing' Review
Took a long break from writing on this blog but I'm back! Not sure how often I'll be posting this time around, but at least it's a start. I watched the movie, Missing, and really loved it. But I also couldn't help but compare it to Searching.
After watching Searching five years ago, I really loved the overall story and format. So, when they announced Missing, which would follow the same formula, I was excited. And the film did not disappoint. The movie centers around June, a teenager whose mother goes missing while traveling with her new boyfriend in Columbia. The Difference Between Searching and Missing The story’s full of plenty…

Black Femme Character Dependency Dark Skin Directory || Entertainers Pt. 1 (A-N)
For the purposes of this list and on this page, whenever I say “dark skinned,” I mean a traditional brown crayon or darker. I grew up around Black people, so the words “dark skinned” do not mean the same thing to me as it do to some nonblacks.

It’s been ages coming, as Pan said to the actress ...
Rob Millis, session/sideman stalwart of the London scene and soi-disant “appalling liberal old hippie twat”, wears his heart (and several other body parts) on his sleeve in his long-planned, long-awaited debut release… and you can see from the cover how excited everyone is that he’s finally got it out!
Musically it’s heavily influenced by 60s American soul and R&B, and leavened with a large dollop of English irreverence (like many of the Brit bands of the late 60s / early 70s whose music was in deadly earnest but who didn’t take themselves too seriously). Politics and passion are the main themes as exemplified by opener For Want Of Love, a New Orleans-via-New Malden 60s soul lament for our times with fine Wurlitzer electric piano and smooth girly bvs, and the blues-tinged swinging political-philippic-cum-paean to his wife of That Thing Called You, which features nicely judged interjections from Mal Barclay’s guitar.
There are flashes of the Bonzos here and there, not least in Caution: Stoned Idiot At Work’s Stanshall-like take on a Band slow waltz, (whose jokey tale of cannabis-scuppered amour belies the complex chordal arrangements) and the very Neil Innes anti-Brexiteer broadside of The Swivel-Eyed, which again for all its acidic humour features a fine call-and-response with the backing singers, Jeff Savage’s measured harp solo, and an appropriately trenchant organ break. [Check out the video on YouTube for this, it’s a hoot...]
More humour appears in the Alan Price-meets-The Kinks (or X-rated Obla-di?) domestic ballad Dented Tins: a half time groove, with great fat brassy slide from James Beck, that encompasses “tinned food, cunnilingus-denial and vintage guitars…” A (slightly) more serious look at love comes in My Unrequited Flame, a Carole King-ish piano-led ballad to misplaced love-that-never-was: its conversational confessional is accompanied with lush girly bvs and tight, easy listening rhythm guitar and rich production to underline its earnest.
There’s further polish in Somebody Needs The Sack, another lament, this time for lost billions in the 2008 crisis with hints of Beatlesque psychedelia from reverbed guitars, mellotron and tricksy timings, and also featuring some excellent early-Preston organ from Rob.
Jokes and jibes take a back seat in two heartfelt numbers: Dear Friends is an organ-backed blues-doo-wop tribute to friends old and new who have buoyed him through these dark times, while Smile On is an unashamedly emotional tribute to his old West London musical sparring partner and chum Jules Fothergill. A slow Memphis soul-waltz sprinkled with tasteful ornamentation and double-guitar interplay from Mike Ross, great gospelly bvs, and a stonking Gregg-ish organ burst.
While Rob might not be a Brooker or an Allman in the vocal department, his heart (and spleen and everything else) pour out through his delivery - and he is no slouch on organ, piano (electric and non-), mellotron, clavinet, and on occasion even rhythm and bass guitars… and he has a crack bunch of musicians behind him (as well as those already named: John Gordon bass; Graham Walker drums; and combinations of Toni Fortune, Clarence Hunte, An'drusilla Mosley and Lauren Dove providing backing vocals.)
A record that’s as fun and provoking as the cover art (Parental Guidance - may offend the easily offended…)
Available to download/stream now from here: https://robmillisuk.bandcamp.com/releases
Rob will be performing songs from the album at its launch at The Cavern Freehouse on Wednesday 10th August - free entry!

The Mosley Review: Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse
Tumblr media
The simplest and most exciting part of the action genre is the revenge plot films. They are straight to the point, have a decent story that'll get you to point A to Z in under 90 minutes and you actually empathize with the lead character's lust for blood. John Wick, Mad Max, Kill Bill Vol. 1-2 and Gladiator are all classics and they did the genre justice by delivering a heartbreaking motivation and a simple premise in their own style. This film enters the genre, but lands with a thunderous thud of an uninteresting and overly used plot that is in almost every politically driven action film of the past 2 decades. Yeah sure the action is what you came for, but it means nothing if you don't have a reason for it to exist or any character to connect with as the carnage ensues. After the fun introduction, I found that the plot of the film began to take a very familiar form as it delves into the deeper motivations of an operation that took a wrong turn and then you see the consequences. I really don't want to spoil the film but after the first 20 minutes or so, you see what I mean when the originality goes out the window. Once you get past the overly grunty 1 note acting, you'll see the action is all it had going for it.
Tumblr media
Michael B. Jordan has been a very strong on screen presence and he has delivered some outstanding performances before, but this was not great. As John Kelly, he does deliver a serviceable performance and you do feel his pain as tragedy befalls him. Once his gloves are off and he's going after the people that are responsible, it is so much fun to watch Jordan work in some excellent action scenes. My problem is that he was had 2 modes: 1. He’s angrily or painfully grunting every few seconds while enraged. 2. For a few seconds, you see him calm and decisive. There was no inbetween where we could empathize with him. I get that the man's soul was ripped away from him but without that component, he just comes off as 1 note. Lauren London was radiant as his wife Pam and she brought warmth to the film. Jamie Bell was good as the CIA Deputy Director Robert Ritter and I liked that he was always on the edge of being trustworthy. Jodie Turner-Smith was truly badass as Lieutenant Commander Karen Greer and the chemistry between her Jordan was the saving grace of the film. She brings out the moments of humanity left in John and I got a brother and sister relationship vibe from them in a particular scene. Guy Pearce is always great to watch on screen and as Secretary of Defense Thomas Clay, he was good.
Tumblr media
The score from Jónsi was decent, but not particularly memorable. One of the major highlights of the film is the action and it is worth noting the inconsistency of quality throughout. You see where the director's eye was going and alot of it is more practical and a decent mix of CGI to amplify and splice together environments, which is always a plus. The problem is that the energy starts strong, but then deflates as the camera and editing doesn't convey the pacing. It’s like a boat sitting in raging rapids, but the boat is still. Overall, it was a very generic action film that has some cool moments of action, but lacks the depth that'll make it standout amongst the rest. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Let me know what you thought of the film or of my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Guest stars of note:  Eddie George is back from "Kulinda" as Byron Brown,  Rocky Marquette as Tony Young, Chris McGarry as William Bradford, Rebecca Wiscoky as Sasha Livingston (and in the photo above from NCIS’s season four episode “Dead and Unburied” - she was the bad guy in that episode too), Joseph C. Phillips as Charles Livingston, Chad T. Wood as Supervisor, Eddie Alfano as Security Guard, Tre Hale as Felix Swoope, Lauren Jenna as Yvette Jackson, Xingu Del Rosario as Jack, Alejandro Barrios as Connor Murray, Djakarta as Deborah, Clay Wilson as Marcus and Colin Wilson as Kevin.
Our heroes:  Get to party with the new boss (and her car).
What important things did we learn about:
Callen:  Does not have weird things buried in his backyard. Sam:  Mentoring kids with Byron Brown. Kensi: Announced she doesn't like reality shows – hello? Deeks: Looking for his own work whip. Eric:   Found Hetty's boat but not Hetty. Nell:  Updates Kensi on the Audi. Mosley:  Secured an invite to the party as Executive Assistant Director.  EAD has its privileges. Hetty:  In Vietnam.
What not so important things did we learn about:
Callen: Wants to buy jet skis with Sam. Sam:  Early morning boat caulker.   Kensi: Not enjoying life as a passenger. Deeks: Thinking about a man bun. Eric: Did not find a receptive audience for his Star Trek imitation.   Nell:   Not around much. Mosley:  Owner of some pricy guns (used in "Fast 8" last summer too!). Hetty:  Not in the episode.
Who's down with OTP:   Kensi and Deeks shared the day driving around in a quality vehicle before realizing it is someone else's quality vehicle.  They're off to what could be Deeks's last summer.
Who's down with BrOTP:  Callen and Sam spend most of the episode in a good bantering place.
Any pressing need for Harm and Mac:  No.  These are civilians committing crimes.
Today in Harley:  Likes having four seasons.  Is quite believable as a gun instructor.  Properly lethal when Callen's life was on the line.  Steals an iPad with ease.
Fashion review:   Callen starts the episode in a dark blue long-sleeve tee shirt, Sam in a black henley. Both men change into suits – blue for Callen with a french blue dress shirt and a teal tie; black suit, black shirt, no tie for Sam.  Blue plaid button down for Kensi.  Gun metal grey v-neck tee for Deeks.  Red and blue plaid shirt for Eric over a red tee.  Light grey dress for Nell with a blue blazer.  Same outfit for Hetty – I don't think her clothes change much until mid-season.  Black dress and jacket for Mosley on her return from DC that becomes a black and white sleeveless v-neck party dress for the event.  Black v-neck tee shirt and slacks for Hidoko in the office, red polo at the party.
Music: None.
Any notable cut scene:  None.
Quote:
Callen:  "You got a big heart, Sam but you barely know this guy." Sam:  "I barely knew you at one point." Callen:  "Oh, might I remind you that you didn't really like me when we first met?" Sam:  "What makes you think that's changed any?" Callen:  "I'm just saying, sometimes you have to look at the possibilities.  You remember that CIA operative, Junior Ramirez?" Sam:  "Was a good guy." Callen:  "He was a better agent, until we found out he had 13 and a half bodies buried in his backyard." Sam:  "You got something you want to tell me about your yard?" Callen:  "Just wondering if we ever really know anyone." Sam:  "Just find it hard to believe is all.  Spent a lot of time with that guy.  My radar is rarely off." Callen:  "Sometimes when people show us who they really are, we need to believe them." Sam:  "I told you that."
Anything else :  A white cargo truck is leaving the docks.  The truck driver and the security guard at the docks are friendly.  The guard notices something is off.  Something is – a man jumps up from the passenger's side and shoots both the guard and the driver.  The shooter pushes the driver out of the vehicle and sets up to leave.  An accomplice doesn't think the shooter should have, well, shot people.  The not dead yet guard shoots the shooter.  The accomplice drives off pushing the shooter from the truck.
Callen meets Sam at his new home – the boat.  Sam is caulking a window of the boat.  Callen is cracking wise.  And thinking about getting jet skis.  Sam is does not jet ski – they're loud, crass and most jet ski riders are irresponsible.  Eric calls – they're needed in Ops.
In Ops, Eric and Nell have video of the truck incident on the big screen in Ops.  In the truck was a shipment of M27s – weapons to be sent to Camp Pendleton.  The weapons could be sold on the street for well over a million dollars.  Sam is more concerned they'd be used in a terrorist attack.
Facial ID has the accomplice as Tony Young, a small time criminal – this theft is way out of his level of criminality.  More video shows Young meeting with Sam's friend Byron Brown.  Sam is shocked.  He is mentoring some kids with Byron.  “He’s a good man.”  Callen is worried Byron switched sides.  Byron resigned from Kulinda a week earlier.  Sam is going with Callen to find Byron Brown.  Kensi and Deeks are in the field looking for Tony Young at his last known address.
Deeks is driving!  And he's driving a Porsche he took from the motor pool – "the keys are in it.  The universe wanted me to have it."  Admittedly the vehicle isn't great for undercover work and there is no place to put Kensi's long gun or a suspect.  But the car is "awesome".  The Audi is almost repaired.  Deeks wants his own "work whip" – he's going to talk to Mosley about it before Hetty returns and shuts him down.  Kensi thinks he should be more worried about Mosley allowing him to keep his job.  Deeks agrees.
Tony Young's home is an RV in a drive way.  Tony's girlfriend Yvette is there – day drinking.  She allows Deeks to search the RV for Tony but he's not there. The RV disgusts Deeks.  Kensi offers her card for when Tony returns  but Yvette is not interested.  Leaving the driveway, Deeks tells Kensi that there was a second glass of wine and an action movie on the TV – Tony is nearby.  Deeks thinks Yvette is calling Tony right now.
Callen and Sam bicker over Sam's big heart, Byron and a former CIA contact who Sam thought was a nice guy and a good agent until they found 13-bodies buried in his backyard.  Sam wants to know if Callen has anything suspicious in his backyard.  Sam says his radar is rarely off – something is up.  Callen reminds Sam that Byron could be involved in three murders.  Callen puts a tracker on Byron's SUV just as Byron leaves a nearby building.  Walking with Byron is Travis Coogan – a member of the Real IRA.  The Real IRA and stolen weapons – bad mix.
Deeks is taking selfies in the Porsche.  He's talking about getting a manbun.  Kensi is wondering why Tony Young is involved in this.  He's not a big theft guy – he's a hired gun.  Yvette leaves the trailer and drives off with Kensi and Deeks following.
Back at the office, Eric tracked Byron to "the 'Bu"- a charity auction/shooting event is being hosted by Livingston-Bradford – a defense contractors whose slogan is "Essential Weapons For an Unsettled World."  90% of L-B's business is selling guns to armies and private security outfits all over the world.  The other 10% is a philanthropic division that helps poor countries.  The company has been suspected of selling arms to both sides of the Western Sahara conflict.  Callen thinks it would be easy to hide guns at a shooting event.  Eric is tasked with cross-referencing Byron with the guests at the party.
While Callen and Sam try to figure out their way into the party, Mosley arrives.  She wants them to go in as NCIS agents.  She has an invite and they are her security detail.  She wants Callen and Sam to step up their game since it is a semi-formal event.  As Mosley leaves, Sam thinks the invite is a Hetty-like move. Callen disagrees.  Eric updates the two on Hetty.  Or her boat. The Lady H has been in a Hawaiian marina for weeks.  Eric looked through security video, social media, geo-tagged vacation photos.  No Hetty.  Sam thinks something is up and Callen agrees in a sad way.  Maybe it is an enviable end to Hetty's career - sailing off into the sunset.
Callen, Sam and Mosley arrive at the party.  Sam is not happy – "guns and alcohol, what could go wrong?"  Mosley checks in and picks up her personal weapons – two pricy Glock 41 MOS.  Mosley meets Charles Livingston and his wife Sasha, one half of the hosting team and the company.
The Livingstons bring Mosley, Callen and Sam to William Bradford, the other half of the company.  He is about to announce they are donating $20 million in aid to those caught up in the Western Sahara conflict.  Mosley is impressed.  The money will go for water and anti-malaria measures (Nia Long's charitable work includes considerable efforts to battle malaria).  Charles Livingston hopes this ends the rumors that they are selling guns to both sides of the war.  Bradford wants to do more – move completely into philanthropy.
As the Livingstons and Bradford tend to their other guests, Mosley, Callen and Sam see them moving in different directions.  The Livingstons are in this to make money, Bradford wants to give it away.  Eric turns on the trio's button cameras and starts running facial recognition on the other guests.
Sam sees Byron bringing Coogan through the crowd.  He decides to make contact.  Byron and Sam meet like brothers.  Byron explains he's working a job like this for his kids' tuitions.  The two plan to meet after this current assignment.  Sam did not like the worried vibe coming from Byron.
Kensi and Deeks follow Yvette to Tony. He is talking to two 'working girls' and Yvette is not pleased.  When she pulls Tony by the ear, Tony pushes back.  Deeks is entertained, Kensi is not.  She goes to confront the two.  Yvette stays but Tony runs, giving Deeks the opportunity to chase him in the Porsche.  Deeks follows but Tony jumps over the car before being tackled by Kensi.
Yvette drives off as Kensi and Deeks question Tony.  Tony explains that Byron Brown paid him to help with the theft of the guns.  It wasn't his plan and he certainly didn't kill anyone.  Tony spills on the weapons sale at a downtown warehouse.  Kensi calls it in.
Hidoko is working the party as a gun instructor.  Mosley does some version of skeet shooting and wins some applause from the crowd. Even Callen and Sam are impressed.  Callen hears from Kensi about the weapons sale.  He and Sam are confused – the sale is over an hour away from the party.  Eric has gotten ID's on a number of party guests – politicians, union officials, bankers.  It is a who's who of the business community.  Eric found something odd in Livingston-Bradford's company.  They own a number of defunct companies that look like they are being used to hide something.
Tony goes to sell the weapons to a local bad guy.  After promising a lot for the weapons, the bad guy is only going to pony up $200K, "and you're lucky I'm giving you that."
After the money is transferred, Kensi and Deeks yell federal agents and no shooting happens - weird.   The bad guy is Felix Swoope.  He's another low-level bad guy trading up in the world.  Felix won't help – he wants a lawyer.
At the party, some of the folks involved are not nearly as good with guns as Mosley was.  In his role as bodyguard, Callen asks Hidoko where the guns come from for the guests.  Livingston-Bradford supplies them.  He wonders about the cleaning and care of the available weapons.  Hidoko steps away to find out.  She returns with an iPad with all the guns available and their backgrounds..
Sam calls Kensi and asks about the weapons – they're all accounted for.  When he asks about the white cargo truck, nobody seems to know what happened to it.  When Kensi and Deeks talk to Tony, they learn Byron took the truck and left the weapons for Tony to sell.  The cargo truck is owned by a company supplying guns to the party – it would fit right in.  Callen and Sam realize Byron is part of an assassination attempt.
Sam goes to find Byron.  The two men fight.  It is a big struggle where Byron keeps explaining he does not have a choice.  Sam is about to get the upper hand with Byron when he his hit in the head by a third party.  Byron escapes.
Callen finds the missing cargo van and two dead security guards who were supposed to be working the party.  A man in the suit tries to shoot Callen.  He fails.  Callen finds three cases for sniper weapons.  There are likely two other snipers out there and a third could be Byron.  They both wonder about the target of three snipers.   Sam remembers Byron telling him that he had no choice – Callen dispatches Kensi and Deeks to the Brown home to check on his family.
Kensi and Deeks see the Brown family being held hostage.  Deeks opens a door off the kitchen and shoots the hostage taker.  Kensi goes into the front door and pulls Mrs. Brown and her two sons to safety.
Back in Ops, Eric explains to Nell that he found phony shipping receipts that mask the company supplying guns to both sides of the Western Sahara conflict.  Sam realizes that Bradford is the target – the Livingstons are selling the guns and Bradford's move out of the weapons business would hurt the Livingstons's side deals.  Sam is going to look for Byron, Callen is going to protect Bradford.
Sam sees an open window on the second floor of the mansion.  Byron is going to kill Bradford to protect his family.  Sam shows pictures of Kensi with Byron's family.  Sam and Byron look for the other snipers.  Just as Bradford takes the stage, Callen has to tackle him to take out the other sniper.  One of the waiters arrives with a gun.  Just as Callen pulls out his weapon to kill the waiter, Hidoko takes the man out.  Callen is impressed.
The Livingstons are in handcuffs.  Bradford seems surprised.  Charles Livingston is too.  Not so surprised – Sasha.  She's furious that their lives work was being thrown away by Bradford.  Sadly, also in custody is Byron.  He provided security for Sasha Livingston when she went to Western Sahara.  That's how he got dragged into this mess.  Sam is going to help Byron as best he can – more than anyone, Sam knows what it means to protect your family.  Byron is grateful same believed him.  "It wasn't hard to do."
Mosley is so happy with Callen and Sam and their work on the case that she's letting them use her membership at the Soho House.  She's going back to shoot for a while.  Callen and Sam continue their argument about jet skis.
Deeks is happy with all his selfies.  He wants to take his new work whip up to Neptune's Net for beers and crab cakes.  Kensi will go if he promises never to say 'work whip' again.  Eric and Nell arrive – the Audi will be ready to go in the morning.  Deeks is going to talk to Mosley about…and Mosley arrives.  Before they can talk, Mosley tells Eric and Nell she needs to see security cameras – someone went for a ride in her personal vehicle.  The Porsche.  And the paint is scratched.  Nell and Eric are off to look at security footage.  Kensi is going to buy Deeks his last meal as he tries to get the Wonder Twins to delete the security footage.
And Microsoft gets their credit.  Yay Microsoft!
What head canon can be formed from here:   Not much.  Sam is still mentoring kids despite the troubles in his own life.  Deeks wants a work whip.
Episode number:   Episode four of season nine, 196 overall.

Cast your mutuals as cm episodes
Okay this was hard and took forever. Also it goes by the seasons (and MY fav episodes) instead of by mutuals so here we go.
First episode that came to mind was L.D.S.K. and that one goes with @veroinnumera because LDSK was arguably one of the best episodes of season 1, like just totally skilled and amazing, kind of like one of my many talented tumblr children who only recently started writing fanfic, but is amazing at it. :D
Next episode if Riding the Lightning, and I love the episode because it’s not a usual CM formula episode, kind of like @phoenix-transcending who always writes outside the box ;)
The Fisher King Part 2 is one of my fav openers of a season and one of the first people to inspire me to write fic was @bookofreid
Sex, Birth, Death is arguably one of the most gut-wrenching episodes not involving the team. It’s early on in the series and absolutely brilliant, also like @criminal-minds-fanfiction one of the CM fandom’s angst queens.
Jones is the first episode we meet William LaMontagne Jr. and due to my continuing conversation with @rmmalta that JJ and Will are meant for each other and not someone else on the team, I have to pair the two.
Seven Seconds, the episode in the mall, is one that always has my heart in my throat no matter how many times I see it and similarly, my wifey @remember-me-forever-silent-angel‘s writing always has me on the edge of my seat and wanting to vom (in a good way :D)
Taz @ilikepipecleanerswitheyes has an amazing URL that i might cry if she ever changed and I must give her the episode the URL comes from, Season 3 episode 7, Identity.
One of my more recent mutuals, the lovely @bitchinprentiss is a super Reidiss fan, which means that I must give her one of the best episodes for the two of them, Minimal Loss.
Demonology is a very Emily-centric episode and I think that means I gotta give that to my babe @prentissluthor.
Amplification might be one of my fav episodes in the entire series, and someone who is equally brilliant is @illegalcerebral.
Someone’s fics that always make me cry because they are so amazing is @spencerthepipecleaner and that means I gotta give her the episode that always makes me cry, 100.
Mosley Lane was the first episode directed by the babe MGG so that one goes to @spencereidings.
JJ (episode lol) has to go to the super JJ fangirl @marvelfanlife.
I love the episode Coda because of the super amazingness that is Spencer with children. It is bursting with adorable. Kind of like @princesswagger14.
Another Emily heavy episode is Lauren, which I have to give to our very own Emily @criminal-navy-writings.
I’m gonna give my babe @comehealinmyarms Dorado falls because it’s an amazing episode and has awesome Emily x Morgan moments.
Snake Eyes is a very sexy episode and someone who has written some seriously sexy fics is @spencerdamnreid.
Profiling 101 is a fantastic episode where the team teaches a class about profiling, and someone who I believe is an amazing example of how to write amazing fics is @stunudo.
Hit and Run are episodes that always give me the feels and someone whose fics give me all the feels is @sapphicpage.
The Wheels on the Bus is a fav episode of mine and for some reason @static-001 is calling out to me in association with it.
I cannot explain why but Zugzwang makes me want to pair it with @kalie-bee.
#6 is an episode where I didn’t see the ending coming and someone who’s written fic like that (at least to me) is @ubdqwriting.
The Replicator is an episode I always go back to and someone who’s fics I always go back to when I’m in need of inspiration is @livingtheobsessedlife / @ssa-avenger because she was the impetus for me starting to write my own fic.
Route 66 is the episode where Hotch’s stab wounds from Foyet come back to haunt him. It has an awesome dreamlike quality which I associate with @dearspencerreid.
Hannah @reiding-and-writing is the sunshine of the CM fandom and that means I have to pair her with a very heavy Penelope Garcia episode, The Black Queen.
The lovely @imagicana is another JJ superfan so I gotta pair her with 200.
The episode Gabby, where the little girl goes missing, really hits me in the feels and that’s making me think @captainreid.
Someone who always puts a smile on my face is @original-criminal-fanfics and an episode that always makes me laugh and puts a smile on my face is Rabid, where Spencer and Penelope have their fitness test.
Angels and Demons is the last we see of the lovely Alex Blake and LOKI i can’t tag you!
If the Shoe Fits is the Cinderella inspired episode, and although her AU is Beauty and the Beast and not Cinderella, it makes me think of @beautiful-bau-beau.
I gotta give @k8callahan Nelson’s Sparrow because it’s when one of her “FAVORITE” characters bits the bullet.
The lovely @b-a-u-tiful makes me think of Mr. Scratch because it’s an awesome later episode and she is one of my more recent mutuals.
@spxcxrrxid I don’t know why you make me think of A Beautiful Disaster but it’s what happened lol.
The Crimson King is the debut ep for Luke! And someone who writes amazing Luke fic is @lookwhatyoumademequeue.
@wonderboygenius you make me think of Taboo another Luke centric episode!
THAT WAS HARD! I’m sorry if I forgot anyone I suck balls. :D

Woodbury Lions Club hosting American Red Cross blood drives
Tumblr media
vimeo
Blood Drives in Cannon County for over 60 years.
It has been said that the Lions Club drives are the best in the Tennessee Valley Region Blood Services area, which includes all of Tennessee, parts of Kentucky, and Alabama.
The extra effort put forth by the Lions Club has little to do with it. The Woodbury Lions Club has a committee of members that work together to help insure that everything runs smoothly, along with community volunteers who like to help out.
Some of the volunteers have more experience working with blood drives that the actual Red Cross staff who go out daily working with blood drives within the area.
Committee chairmen’s Patsy and Carl Hirlston and Bobby Bogard with committee members Ken and Artie Jean McIntyre, Lois Larimer, Clyde Thomas, Nolan Northcutt, Robert Jennings, Charlie Brown, Clyde and Kitty Bush, Chris Brushaber, Danny Miller, Cliff Swoape, Andy Jacobs, Doug Combs, and Gina Mitchell, all work together along with community volunteers of Bessie Miller, Orval and Esther Gray, Juanita Burks, Cathey Parker, Betty Harder, Shirley Borren, Jane Jennings, Grace Young, Nile Young, Della Young, Robert Young, Kay Campbell, Carol Davenport, Bobbie Henline, Jim Henline, Betty Paschal, Ann Todd, Mary Sue Vinson, and Mary Nelle Hillis too create a professional staff that assist members of the American Red Cross staff.
The Lions Club assigns a task of greeting donors and signing them in, handing out water and assigning donors with a number.
Copies of the Cannon Courier are provided for donors to read before or after their donation.
Red Cross provides snacks and the Woodbury Lions Club has additional snacks such as: a one-of-a-kind trail mix, peanut butter and crackers, baloney and crackers, and cheese and crackers.
A staff works in the canteen area who assist the donors after they have donated by getting them a drink of juice, water, soda, or coffee and then sitting with them and talking. They also watch the donor to see if the donors face color changes or if their arm starts bleeding from where the donor had given blood.
Woodbury Club also keeps records of each donation and awards donors with pins and Certificates when completing gallon donations. Along with taking pictures of donors receiving awards and being pinned with a gallon donation pin, plus having members of the Lions Club calling and reminding donors of upcoming blood drives also adds a little bit more to why Cannon County Blood Drives are better and produces more regular donors than other areas which has a larger population.
Woodbury Lions Club host six blood drives a year, always the third Thursday in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Each blood drive is noon until six pm except May’s drive, which runs from 9 am until 6 pm. May’s blood drive is a donor appreciation drive, and most of the businesses in Cannon County donate door prizes.
In the last five to six years, each donor was able to win three of four items because of the generosity of the businesses and their support of the Lions Club and wanting to reward the true everyday heroes of Cannon County, those who give of themselves to help save the lives of others. In most cases, they are saving the lives of people who they do not know.
On May 20th, 2010 the following businesses provided door prizes for the heroes of Cannon County: A Touch of Home Flower’s & Gifts, Arts Center of Cannon County, Auto Zone, Birdsong Adhesives, Boyd’s Garage, Briar Rose Flowers and Gifts, Bromley/Jennings Automotive, Cannon County Chiropractic, Cannon Market, Captain D’s, CareAll, Cell Plus, Coco Tan & Spa, Chilangoes Mexican Restaurant, Curves, Cutting Edge Hair Salon, D J’s Pizza and Steakhouse, Family Dentistry Deason & Bucher, Farm Bureau Insurance, First National Bank, Flower Occasions, Gina’s Boutique, Hardee’s, Hayes Bros Auto Care, Hibdon’s Body Shop, Higgins Car Wash, J P’s Fine Swine Bar-B-Que, Jennings Jewelers, Joe’s Place, Legendary Cuts, Lightwriters Photography, Lions Pizza Den, The Millennium Hair Salon, Moonlite Drive-In, NAPA, The Old Feed Store, One Stop Market, Parsley’s Market & Deli, Paul Reed’s Furniture, Paul’s Auto Service, Piggly Wiggly, Potter’s Ace Hardware, Quick Shop Market, Reed’s Building Supply, Regions Bank, Roger Hindman Body Shop, Scavenger Hunt Flea Market, Scavenger Hunt Trading Post, The Scoreboard, Shirt Shack, Shotgun County Pawn & Gun, Smitty Tire Shop, Stewart’s Printing, Stone Gait Tack and Feed, Subway, West End Tobacco Store, Woodbury Auto Express, Woodbury Insurance Agency, and Woodbury Lawn & Garden. Every donor and volunteer received a promotional ink pen from DTC, a pillbox from Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperation, Chap Stick from FirstBank, a value meal card from Sonic, and a 3 pound bag of stone ground corn meal from The Readyville Mill.
The Red Cross also provided promotional items and the Woodbury Lions Club provided $10 gift certificates and a grand prize of $100 gift card.
It is very hard to find another community that has so many businesses that support a civic club as much as the ones in Cannon County.
Most all the businesses give support to the Woodbury Lions Club for sponsorship of the Lions Club Horse Show, White Cane donations, and door prizes for the donor appreciation Blood Drive. Without support from the local businesses, the Woodbury Lions Club would not be able to do as much as it does within the community, state, country, and world. Local businesses are one of the leading reasons why Cannon County Blood Drives are so much better that anywhere else in the state.
Another reason and probably the number one reason the blood drives are the best anywhere is the volume of regular donors in Cannon County. In any community only a certain per cent are eligible to donate and of that per cent only about 3 to 5 percent actually donates, but the donors in Cannon County has a much higher percent.
This is not due to the Lions Club and its part, nor the businesses and its part, but it is the individual donor and the way of life in Cannon County, the way most have been raised to want to help others in need in any way they can.
The mentality of the average person in Cannon County is to serve in any way they can. This mentality is one of the reasons Woodbury Lions Club is one of the largest clubs in the state.
It is why the businesses give as much as they do, and why so many volunteers do jobs within the county for little or no pay. The parents, schools and churches within the community teach the children from an early age of the importance of giving back to the community in which they live and the lesson that it is more blessed to give than to receive.
This is why Cannon County has had over 360 donors in the past 2-½ years. Woodbury Lions Club and the American Red Cross both use fiscal years that begin on 1 July and end 30 June.
The following is a list of local heroes who gave during the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Those donating Double Red Blood Cells count as two donations, the max number of times any one can give in a fiscal year in whole blood or double red cells is 6. The number that follows a persons name is the amount of pints given as of 30 June 2010.

The Woodbury Lions Club has received several awards of appreciation from the American Red Cross for their support of the Community Blood Program, and there is a lot of speculation as to why a small community does so well on the blood drives.
A lot of the credit is given to the Lions Club for putting out an extra effort.
Some credit is given for having good media coverage with the Cannon Courier, the Cannon Wire, and WBRY radio. Some credit is given for the support given by the businesses in Cannon County.
Any community can have a civic organization that puts forth the extra effort, and have good media and local businesses supporting them, but they don’t have the attitude and dedication of serving others that is instilled into Cannon Countians from birth until death.
The Woodbury Lions Club expresses heartfelt gratitude to all the media, businesses, and donors for exceeding the yearly goals set forth by the Red Cross based on past history.
It is so great to live among so many heroes. Likes: 7 Viewed:
