mostly i am thinking about how this really does outright say that the burden of shinrabansho is on tobari as well.

ok. so chronologically, the above images *are* in order. but in terms of which we see first, it's the second, since the flashback chapters take place after that.

it's like. before we get to that second manga page, we get a conversation between miharu and tobari, about how tobari will promise to continue keeping the memories of ten years ago safe, untik miharu can handle hearing it all. and then after miharu leaves, that's when shinra comes back to haunt him.

fast forward ten chapters, we see that this somehow isn't the first time it's happened. though what really strikes me about that first manga page, the young tobari one, is that no one else experienced that. everyone else -- akatsuki, korin, black -- saw asahi using the shinrabansho with their own eyes it was literally right in front of them! but no, shinra chose to loom over tobari, who couldn't see what was going on out there.

and to me that's just. oh my god. did shinra know from the start that they were all going to die? did shinra *choose* tobari to hold all the memories, knowing they were all going to die?

...you might or might know that i absolutely adore the concept of tobari as a haunted house, so i think shinra might also be one of its residents.

i mean come on it's just so.

like would you expect these two to have any sort of relationship?? ok the answer is yes but would you expect them to directly antagonise each other??? i sure didn't!

what we know of the story at the time of that second manga page is that tobari is against anyone using the shinrabansho, and that he wants her to be sealed away forever. and yes we do know that the shinrabansho has a sort of form as a woman, but we always assume that only miharu can see her. (with the exception being oda lol).

and really all shinra ever does is tempt miharu into letting her take control, or in other words, use her. which is the exact opposite of tobari's goal.

which like, ok, wow, so those two are enemies, and it's a shame that no one else can see her--

nope! he sees her too!

and well i don't think he sees her in the same way miharu does; he's not her user after all. which then begs the question of, "did shinra choose to visit tobari at that time, or was she just something he suddenly remembered then?"

if that's not clear what i mean is like. did she choose to suddenly pop up behind tobari, even if her user is miharu? or was she just a flash of a memory of his?

really i'm leaning towards the first one, because of that first manga page i posted. i choose to believe that shinra just fucks with him in particular on purpose. i choose to believe that shinra *is* haunting him, and that she's the only resident of his haunted house that he doesn't welcome with open arms
