Version 6.0!

Hi, everyone! I finally finished with v6.0 of the save file!

Version 6 includes Growing Together. I went around and gave every sim multiple character and conversation preferences, so hopefully it'll make for some interesting interactions! Some families also have family dynamics!

Version 5.1!

Hey, y’all! Got a new update to the Kookablarn Save File for ya!

The file was done pretty soon after the release of High School Years, but the game’s glitches and issues are what held me back. Then, I started having personal doubts. But I was finally able to push through and finish it all!

There’s a lot of changes in this one because I also went through with removing all ghosts from the family trees except for select important family members, which means there’s no more need for a Ghost-less Version. However, you can find a list of the ghosts still in the file here! Most of the ghost’s graves can be found in a family member’s inventory.

Since I did a pretty big reset on the file, all of the minor build/buy changes I made have been erased. My plan is to slowly go through and do small renovations to the lots to make them fit the family. For now, all lots are untouched.

Version 5.1 includes My Wedding Stores, Werewolves, and High School Years. Also includes the Infants update. I also went around and added body hair, sexual preferences, and pronouns to various sims and made the usual CAS changes wherever I saw fit.

Keeping You Updated~

Hey!! Just letting you know that v6.0 is sooo close to being finished! I thought I was closer to being finished before, but then I forgot about the homeless sims 🤡 so I had to go through and give all of them Characteristic and Conversation preferences.

I'm finally done with that and all I have left is to update the sims from Growing Together to 15 years later and give a few sims Family Dynamics and we'll be golden! 😎

There was a bit of a delay on my side bc I had an important project with a deadline, but that's out of the way now so I'm just powering through this update so you can play with the file!

Hope you're all enjoying Horse Ranch if you have it! I don't have it yet, but I'll be getting it at some point so I can start working on v7.0, haha.

Hiii!!

Just wanted to let you all know that I am still here and I am still working on the save file! I took some time to play and get to know Growing Together, and I had a blast with it! I’m ready to play with a fully complete v6.0!

I’m halfway done with the worlds now as I’ve been going through every sim and giving them Character and Conversation Preferences as well as face/body marks wherever I see fit and a few other CAS updates. Hoping to be done at least before Horse Ranch comes out!

I gotta admit, I just saw another YouTuber make a video about another save file very similar to mine, and it’s just so, so demotivating. The first one was 10 years and now this one is 15 years, the same as mine 🥲. I know I don’t have pretty builds, but I worked hard on these sims and I really love them!

I really appreciate those who have stuck around and enjoyed my file! You’re the ones who keep me going! 💖

Hello, Hello~!

Hey, everyone!

I know it’s been a terribly long time since the last update! Sorry about that! I’ve been waiting for a nice, substantial base game update or an expansion pack and wouldn’t ya know it, we’re about to get both! Looks like I’m about to have a lot of work for the file, haha.

I do have My Wedding Stories and Werewolves and I will probably be getting High School Years very soon after release, so an update to Kookablarn would probably be within a month or two (gotta give myself time to get to know these characters and packs!)

In addition to that, it looks like we’re getting a crazy amount of stuff in the base game, so I will be giving pronouns, romantic/sexual preferences, and body hair to every sim. I’ve also been playing and noticed I need to make a few more changes to the Neighborhood Stories settings (there are too many adoptions x__x)

And yes, I still have to make a chart for the Neighborhood Stories settings, sorry that’s not out yet! I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to do it, lol.

Version 4.1!

Hello, hello! Today I bring you Version 4.1! It’s not a very big update, I only really changed Neighborhood Story Configurations for Every. Household. 

I’ll have a guide detailing it soon, but basically I just went through and turned off certain changes for certain families. For example, the Goth Family is not allowed to move out of their iconic home. Families where the parents are already Adults aren’t allowed to have babies. Lily and Victor Feng aren’t allowed to change careers. These are just some examples!

I’ve played around with the update a little. So far (with my changes) I had almost every homeless sim move in to a house on the second night, multiple unfortunate deaths (R.I.P. Mary-Sue 😔) and the Dreamer family adopted 2 kids. I also noticed Sims in relationships may get pregnant even if they aren’t living with their partner (Ilia Lobo got pregnant with Salim Benali). If some things seem too much, I may change them again.

And as always, let me know if you run into any issues or have any suggestions! It’s really hard to keep track of so many Sims now, haha. Thank you and I hope you enjoy!

Version 4.0!

It’s finally done!!!

This update was incredibly difficult! I ran into so many problems with the Henford-on-Bagley NPCs and faced many setbacks, but here’s hoping everything’s fixed and good to go!

Version 4.0 includes Paranormal, Dream Home Decorator, and Cottage Living! I’ve also made a few CAS changes to various sims to play around with the Spa Day Refresh!

Hello there! I’ve been working on this save file for a while now and it’s finally done! The goal of the file is to add a little more life to the premade sims! It’s set 15 years into the future, so it still has all the familiar faces, they’re just a little older (many now married with children!) Features: ✨Every family has a unique description and storyline, relationships, skills, jobs/promotions, sentiments & lifestyles (where applicable), likes & dislikes, and configured Neighborhood Stories. ✨Every family has been aged to the appropriate life stage, including how many days old they are. ✨Every sim has 1 reward trait added and some even have Parenthood traits! ✨Fixed relationships such as Johnny Zest being a Landgraab and Morgan and Siobhan Fyres being step-sisters. ✨Altered some sims to resemble their Sims 2 counterparts. ✨Brought in sims from past games like The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and MySims. ✨Plenty of pack integration, so all packs are required. (MFPS, JtB, and the Kits are not required, because I don’t have those packs and won’t be getting them.) ✨Custom holidays and clubs. ✨No lots have been rebuilt or added. Everything’s the same. Newcrest is still empty. The focus of the file was the sims and their relationships (also, I’m not a builder). ✨No CC required! You can read about the families, clubs, and other fun little notes and development on the blog! Feel free to shoot any questions, concerns or suggestions my way! This is my first time doing something like this and I had to fight with the game a bunch to make it work, so if there are any issues or typos or anything, let me know and I’ll do my best to fix it! ————————— Known Issues: *Because of the way the game is built, the culling will sometimes wipe all relationships except family members. *The Henford-on-Bagley NPCs (Creature Keeper, Mayor, etc.) like to respawn, despite me setting them to specific sims. My latest test play was fine, but Agnes and Agatha Crumplebottom may still do this. *Every Elder keeps rerolling the Fear of Death. Version 3.1!

It’s here! The Kookablarn Save File v3.1 is complete! This version adds Likes & Dislikes to every sim and some other CAS changes like taking advantage of the new hair colors, etc. The changes are detailed under the cut, but the Likes & Dislikes will be added to the profile pages!

I used at least 4 L&D points for everyone. I didn’t want to use too many, but a few sims did reach up to 16 points (they dislike a lot of things...). It made me really want hobbies that weren’t skill-based, like reading and watching TV, and also favorite food. Hopefully, the system will be expanded more in the future!

Looks like we’ll have a new Expansion pack coming very soon. Not sure if I’ll get it right away, but I’ll probably combine Paranormal, Dream Home Decorator, and the new Expansion for the 4.0 update. I still don’t have Paranormal or DHD. (Throwback Fit Kit is still up in the air).

V3.1 Changes:

✨Gave every sim (except ghosts, Father Winter, Tutorial Alex, and Baby Ariel) Likes and Dislikes. ✨Changed various sims’ outfits to match their favorite colors. Now everyone predominantly wears their favorite colors. The only exceptions are Diego Lobo (because he has a very...interesting style) and Anne Lee (just because). ✨Changed Hair Colors for various sims. Version 3.0!

See? That didn’t take long at all! Yep, the next update for the Kookablarn Save File is ready! This version adds the Snowy Escape Expansion Pack, some very small changes like giving pets last names, and also the addition of Sentiments & Lifestyles! As always, the changes are detailed under the cut.

Now that I’m all caught up, I can finally take a break! I’ll still be sharing random trivia and working on the blog, but I don’t have any major updates planned unless we get new DLC, game-changing patches, or if there are any glaring issues.

Version 2.0 is Out!

Hello, everyone! The next update to the Kookablarn Save File is out! In this version, I’ve added the Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack and Eco Lifestyle Expansion Pack and made other various changes including a few CAS changes, relationship changes, and gave some families pets! The changes will be detailed under the cut.

Heads up, I’m planning on getting Snowy Escape within the next two weeks, so if you want to wait for that update it shouldn’t be long. I was going to wait and do one big update, but I decided to go ahead and release this one for those who don’t have Snowy Escape yet.

Version 1.1 and The Ghost-less Version are now live!

Version 1.1 is full of minor fixes, so feel free to skip it if you have the first version and it doesn’t affect your gameplay! These changes include moving urns into the family inventory, tweaking a few Sims in CAS, 1 club change, and a few other things. I’ll detail it under the cut if you’re interested.

The Ghostless Version:

One of the goals for the project was to give everyone family trees. However, I realized a little late that The Sims 4 handles family trees and ghosts in a strange way. Ghosts stay in your relationship panel and if you try to delete them, they’ll be deleted from your family tree. Not ideal. But neither is having a bunch of dead family members clutter up your relationships. That’s why I decided to make a second version of the save file that removes the ghosts. Unfortunately, it also takes them out of the family trees. The graves and urns will still exist, but the ghosts will not appear.

The other reason is because of the culling. When you have too many sims, the game will start clearing them out from relationships to make space for more. It doesn’t help that the game is constantly spawning townies, either. Since I created so many ghosts to make family trees interesting, the game would delete friendships. Again, not ideal. I’m hoping the ghost-less version will combat that.

I didn’t remove every ghost! Some are too important to some families. You can see which ones are still around under the cut, if you’re interested.

I Made A Twitter?

Hey, did you know? I have a twitter account for The Sims/Kookablarn! I never really said anything about it because I’m shy 👉👈. At the moment, I’m only using it to keep up with sims news, but I’ve also been posting some trivia about the save file there. It’s mostly the same stuff from here. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with the twitter account, so it’s a little bare and boring right now, but feel free to follow if you want!

The May 27th Patch

Hellooo everyone! We have a very exciting game update today! They’ve patched in new hair colors AND Likes & Dislikes! I’m mostly excited to play around with the likes and dislikes. Of course, I’ll be updating the Kookablarn Save File to give everyone a few preferences. I’ve already started planning them out, but whew it might take a while. There’s a lot of sims to go through! My goal is to give everyone at least 1-2 preferences of each category (Hobbies, Music, Color) wherever appropriate. And of course, they’ll all be added to the profile pages after the next version update. 

I’m also going to mess around with the new hair colors and see where I can use them.

Also, can’t forget to bring this up, but the blog hit 100 followers! And the save file (v3) hit over 1K downloads! That’s amazing!! Thank you all so much, I hope you’re enjoying it!

An Eliza Pancakes and Bella Goth Rivalry!

In the Kookablarn save file, Eliza and Bella’s relationship is in the red. Why? It’s a little bit of a joke on how in the fandom, everyone loves Bella and dislikes Eliza. However, let’s take a look at Eliza. She’s a materialistic perfectionist, she’s probably a bit snobbish as well. She enjoys the finer things in life, yet she’s average at her job at best and her husband is boring. Now, let’s look at Bella. She’s rich, beautiful, popular, has a successful family and her husband is Mortimer Goth! Eliza is jealous of Bella!

If there were one-sided relationships, I’d make it so that Eliza despises Bella, but Bella barely knows who she is. Since there’s no way to do that, the feeling is mutual between them.
