How do Sangheili eat with that gaping hole at the bottom of their mouths?

From what I found on that, it’s explained on Halopedia that how Sangheili speak human tongues is through closing that gap beneath their mandibles. I have two leading ideas that may answer that question, but neither of which are canon nor is this topic ever explained at any point in time in Halo’s lore, only speculated about amongst fans.

1. They simply just close the gap under their mandibles like they do to speak human languages and chew somewhat like what I’ve attempted to draw using my other OC’s. (Yay, OC plug, hello).

2. They tear pieces from the food they’re attempting to consume either with their hands or teeth and hands and swallow it whole much like a lizard does. Or they just swallow the whole thing.
