Recently, I have privately been wondering about the future of the puzzle game genre. While it is true that there are games coming out, with the exception of NWOS (which I’ll get to in a minute), it’s ports and remakes or localizations and nothing really new. The last great real triumph, I think, was Undertale and not only was that almost a decade ago, it was an RPG that had puzzles in it. Not a puzzle game.

New World Of Steam could be a game changer, but with such limited information it’s hard to tell if it’s an attempt to retcon/ignore certain choices that weren’t universally loved and revert back to the characters as they were originally, ignoring any arcs along the way, which we’ve seen before doesn’t always a good game make, or if it’s actually going to be a bold step forward for the genre.

OneShot was a charming little recent addition to the genre but it didn’t seem to really make a stir in the way other games have and maybe I haven’t been listening but I haven’t heard anything from the developers about a new game.

But this… this looks like it could really be good. I can see influences of games like Ace Attorney and Hotel Dusk but still while being something brand new. So far it looks good and I would be more than happy to see these two ladies bring something new and reenergize the genre.

There's like. Two cute headcanons going on here... 1) Yosuke wears glasses cause he's a little blind.. he wears contacts outside cause he thinks glasses makes him dorky so he only wears them out if he's hanging with Yu in his room (and Yu thinks he's cuter with glasses...)

2) Yu likes to steal wear Yosuke's headphones, when Yosuke said Yu is good with his hands that actually meant he's stupidly good at nabbing the headphones away (with the mp3 player too????)
