Here's how my week of training, writing, teaching, and miscellaneous Filipino Martial Arts-y goodness went.
What have you been up to this week? THE WEEK DAY-BY-DAY: Saturday:   Our big test at Hidden Sword Martial Arts.  Spent the morning reviewing with various students, did a little kobudo, and then the test.  I was promoted to my next rank, Dayang Dalawa (2nd Degree Black Belt). Sunday:  Mr. Chick's Birthday!  We did birthday stuff. Monday:   Morning gym. Migraine developed.  Yaaaaay.  Day 1 of this round. Tuesday:   Worked a half day, went home, and slept.  Headache gone but postdrome was going on full swing.  I think I actually hate that phase of migraine the most. Wednesday:  Worked a full day, came  home and fell asleep within minutes. More postdrome fun. Thursday:  Still in postdrome but it was improving, so I was awake enough to go teach at Mid-Cities Arnis.  We worked on stances and anyos in the family classes, and we worked on empty hand drills - hubad-lubad, empty hand tapi-tapi, trapping hands, and decadena. Friday:  Morning gym. Taught class at Mid-Cities Arnis and stick sparring night.
Yes, I do derive considerable joy from beating up on children.
BLOGGY GOODNESS:
Here's the original content I posted this week: Monday:  And Now There Are Four And here's what I re-shared this week (stoopid migraine made me dumber than usual): Tuesday:   Three Is a Magic Number Wednesday:   5 Tips for the Martial Arts Newbie (Over 40) Thursday:   Change Partners! Friday:   FACE-OFF FRIDAY: Contracts or No Contracts? OTHER STUFF THAT I SAW/DID: Enter the... Dojang?  Master Ken versus taekwondo.  And you all know that taekwondo is bullshit... or is it?
Did you know I'm on Quora?   Here's my most popular answer I've ever given - it's at 8.5K upvotes and counting!  What are the most overrated weapons of all time?  Follow me there to see my answers on mostly martial arts topics, but also the random thing about other stuff I know a little bit about.

Now THIS is a gift for yo mamma on Mother's Day!  If you're in the DFW area, come on by!  STICK and STEEL Seminar with GM Art Miraflor and Professor Dan Anderson
FINAL THOUGHTS OF THE WEEK:
Wait, I don't have a seminar or have to drive an hour's drive away or do anything big or important?  It's just a normal weekend...? Well, that's just weird. So I'll go early to Hidden Sword, taking younger daughter to TKD while I work on some kobudo (and a translation of our Anyo forms into Jo and Nunchaku - I have an eye to maybe entering a tournament this year with it and I want to see if I can make it work), then we have a belt test for our lower-rank juniors in Arnis, then I have our local kobudo class. My goodness, what will I do with all of that free time where I'm not sick or in a car?
Like the new Stick Chicktivity logo above?  Image was created by Older Daughter, because she's awesome.  She actually created it a while ago and I've been looking for a good place to insert the image, and duuuhhh, this is perfect. I desperately need more likes for the blog's Facebook page, so if you haven't already liked it, would you, please?  And if you're over there, please do share the page and the content there with your friends and in martial arts groups.  That'd be super-helpful, thanks!  The Stick Chick Blog So what did YOU do this week?  What did you train? What did you teach?  Did you see any really cool martial arts stuff online?  Let me know!
