Poor Number 2, being stuck on a disintegrating planet with a maniac that oscillates between wanting to control your every action and begging you to hold him tighter.
Raw lines under the cut because I thought they looked cool.

Heyo! I’ve been meaning to ask…
How do you think that Zib defeated his Zim? Was it just sticking him in a test tube and calling it a day or more along the lines of actually killing him? (It’s for fanfic purposes)
Thanks! And sorry I keep sending so many asks, I love your headcanons and they’ve REALLY helped my story writing! :)
I’ve always thought that Zib fully killed his Zim. Managed to somehow gain an advantage or get the jump on him, tear the PAK off his back, and successfully keep it away from Zim for long enough that he died of PAK deprivation.
Because Dib CAN be a threat to Zim’s well being, but it requires that a bunch of things line up first. And in Zib’s case, all of those things lined up perfectly.
I got a similar ask to this a long while ago, and I mentioned that with the right gear, Dib could easily kill Zim. Like the water balloon catapult he built during The Wettening. If Dib managed to hit Zim with that thing once, the water (literally acid to Zim) would soak him to the point where he wouldn’t be able to get out of the way of the next shot or properly retaliate. Same goes for the Food Cannon from the pilot (especially relevant because of my theory that Pilot Dib is Zib before he killed Zim).
Dib could also kill Zim by betraying him on the rare occasions that they work together or by taking advantage of the situation like in Ten Minutes To Doom. If the right things line up, Dib can become a massive threat to Zim’s life instead of just his mission.
After killing him, Zib kept the PAK and didn’t let it attach to him until he had messed with and modified it (and himself) to circumvent the whole “The PAK will destroy Dib’s brain by downloading a non-compatible Irken brain into it, killing the body, mind and PAK” thing.
The current, Zimvoid ruling Zib however, is more than strong enough to fight an Irken one on one and win without anything needing to line up. He’s modified himself with bionics and cybernetics to make himself as strong as an Irken and just as durable, without the weakness to Earth’s polluted water and meat. The mostly functional PAK on the back of his head also helps a lot. And because he downloaded a bunch of his Zim’s various memories (but not personality), Zib has military grade fighting skills (but strangely enough, not knife throwing skills. He’s decent at it thanks to Zim’s memories, much more accurate than a Dib would normally be, but most of that skill is exclusive to Zim and his personality, which Zib doesn’t have).

“How do you want to die?”
The void of space made for some quiet times on the ship, if only rarely. Two was... admittedly not a fan of silence. Never had been. There was always Gir, or his computer, or Dib, or the screaming of the tv. Constant noise. In the Zimvoid it’d been the same, only instead of other voices it was only his voice, amplified and changed across thousands of iterations. Still, it hadn’t been quiet. Even on this ship, one he had expected to kill or be killed on there was rarely silence, what with 7 smeets running around.
No, there was rarely quiet. But when there was, it was deafening.
Part of Two wanted to break it, to talk to himself or find his mate somewhere, but he couldn’t really bring himself to move. The slight motion of the stars past the cockpit as they made their way from one side of the universe to another induced enough of a trance that moving felt like too much effort.
“Do you want me to take the next shift?”
Zib’s voice fully snapped Two out of his funk, a nice familiar sound breaking the silence.
“Hmm, no. I like being at the helm. You could stay, if you want.”
“Sure, I’ll stay.”
Zib slid into the seat beside Two, rolling his shoulders and laying back, boots careful not to hit any of the buttons. It was quiet again, lighter with company, but still quiet. Something about seeing the empty space, of that desire to not be alone, all mixing together forced the question out before he could stop it.
“How do you want to die?”
The hybrid next to him snapped his head to the side in wide eyed confusion.
“Wh- excuse me?”
“It’s- Zim- I- I’ve been sitting here too long. I should probably get some rest.”
A gloved hand on Two’s shoulder guided him back into the pilot’s seat. Gentle but firm.
“Hey you asked the question now you’re going to listen. No take backs.”
“Sweet Irk it was a question not an invitation for a theory on whether we’ll be ghosts or not.”
“Hey that was a perfectly legitimate theory and you know it! No- no focus. I’m not sure, I remember you saying that you expected to die fighting me and I said that I expected the same. I haven’t really... considered it. Not for a long time. Death used to seem like such a certainty now it’s... I don’t know.”
There was something pained in Zib’s eyes, intelligent amber hiding years of pain and suffering.
“I don’t want to leave them behind. I have something, you, the kids, all of you to live for. I don’t want to die anymore.”
Anymore. Anymore. That word rang in Two’s head and the unfortunate implications of such an innocuous phrase sat heavy in his spooch. Zib’s anatomy, his compatibility with the PAK was an enigma that Two had feared solving in case of what he’d find.
But he didn’t want his Zib to worry about that. Two would find the answers. For now, he wanted Zib’s mind on what was here. What mattered.
“I think I’d want to die eating one of those slushies. The big ones. Go out on a high note.”
Two smiled as Zib cackled and wheezed, the joke hitting its mark. Tears beaded, and Zib lifted his glasses to wipe them away.
“R-really? Not that 3 story cake?”
“That was your favorite not mine.”
His real desire would stay where it was. As long as he was by Zib’s side, for as long as he could be, it’d happen.
A silence forever without his voice wasn’t a world he wanted.

Your thoughts on Pilot Dib? –Jenny Anon
Tumblr media
Hi, Jenny- Anon :D. Thank you for the question/ checking out my tumblr.
Oooh!
Um, this is going to sound silly to most people, because I know a lot of fans think of pilot Dib as an alternate universe Dib where he is more unhinged than the series Dib and later becomes evil or even Zib from the zimvoid arc (which both are fun theries and I understand their merit)
But I first watched the pilot when I was a teenager, I think, in the early 2000s, whenever the hell the Zim's house model replica boxset came out. My copies are worn to dust, no longer playable as of a decade ago XD and the collectable set was destroyed...because I played with it alot lol.
The Pilot was a special feature that was included in the one of the dvds in the series boxset I had. I had yet to be introduced to the concept of aus in the fandom, as I had no internet access at home until I started college and bought my own laptop. My dad charged me to upgrade our cable service.
Anyway
I genuinely thought pilot Dib was series Dib all along, it's just the episode chronologically took place the very next day after Zim had landed on earth and Dib was still really hyped up that he had an alien nemesis that could potentially destroy the earth. (I believed the minor details in the background/ Zim's voice being different was just a matter of budget/ production)
Series Dib became more calm around Zim only because he had just gained enough experience with dealing with Zim that he could (somewhat) predict Zim's behavior.
BUT, now I have returned to the fandom and have been introduced to new theories about Pilot Dib I never knew existed.
I like Pilot Dib, personally. He had comedic potential and I thought the shade of green on his shirt looked nice on him ^^.

Iz headcanon theory thing: Zib is pilot!Dib after he eventually somehow defeated zim. Pilot dib probably would be less "restrained(?)" Than regular dib. He probably would do anything to prove zim was an alien and "save" the Earth. Even if it was immoral. And then when no one cares about his absolutely mind breaking discovery (and some people were probably a little disgusted that he would do something like that to someone who was assumed by everyone except Dib (and Gaz I guess) a fellow human child classmate person (idk)). So Dib becomes Zib and takes over the world and kill the Irken Armada and bla bla bla yadda yadda yadda you know the rest.
Idk this just kinda came to me idk maybe tell me what you think
