#Repost @informativostele5 with @make_repost ・・・ El destino quiso que el doctor Luis Gómez, jefe de anestesiología del Hospital General de Alicante, acabara ingresado por covid junto a su madre durante la primera ola de la pandemia, el pasado marzo. Pese a que el evolucionó favorablemente, su madre empeoraba por momentos y, cuando su nivel de oxígeno bajó considerablemente, el equipo médico decidió que había que intubarla, algo que él, al ser la persona con más antigüedad presente, asumió sin problemas. La cosa no quedó ahí, ya que la mujer, de 86 años, sufrió una parada cardiorespiratoria inmediatamente después y Luis no dudó en realizar el masaje cardiaco correspondiente para reanimarla. Más de 20 minutos estuvo realizando la operación hasta que volvió a sentir el latido de su corazón. Los compañeros de Luis quisieron ayudar con el masaje cardiaco pero él lo tuvo claro: “Dejadme que siga dando yo el masaje porque es lo último que voy a hacer por mi madre”. La mujer ingresó en la UCI cuando consiguieron estabilizarla y, 56 días después, consiguió el alta. Vithas fue creada en 2012, al calor de la crisis económica y los recortes en sanidad, por sus actuales accionistas: los Gallardo y La Caixa. Doce de los 20 hospitales que acumula actualmente están en régimen de concierto, uno de ellos el Nou d’Octubre, que formaba parte del catálogo de hospitales del grupo valenciano Nisa, que Vithas compró (49%) en 2017. En febrero de 2012, el fondo de inversión británico Doughty Hanson anunció la compra de USP Hospitales a Barclays y Royal Bank of Scotland, sus propietarias desde 2009, por 355 millones de euros. Un mes después se hizo con el 40% del Grupo Quirón y fusionó ambas entidades, quedándose con un 60% del grupo resultante. Con la compra en 2013 del Centro Médico Teknon de Barcelona por 200 millones de euros a Magnum Capital —que a su vez lo había comprado en 2010 por 140 millones de euros al británico BC Partners—, Grupo Quirón se convirtió en el primero en sanidad privada en España.

En julio de 2014, Doughty Hanson vende su 61% del Grupo Quirón a CVC Capital Partners por 1.500 millones de euros. Bajo el mando de CVC Capital Partners, Grupo Quirón se fusionó con Capio (IDC Salud), que fue comprada en 2011 por el mismo grupo de inversión por 900 millones de euros. El 2016, la alemana Fresenius compraba el Grupo Quirón por 5.760 millones de euros y CVC Capital se llevó con la operación 2.600 millones de euros de beneficios dos años después de convertirse en el accionista mayoritario. La nueva propietaria, Fresenius, es una de las 30 mayores empresas alemanas en los mercados de capitales. Cotiza en el DAX, el principal mercado bursátil alemán, y en el Euro Stoxx 50.
