For Horatio:
1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
6. What is your greatest extravagance?
22. What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
What is your idea of perfect happiness? "That's kind of a big question. Can you be perfectly happy? [He thinks on this for a minute.] I guess being perfectly happy for me would be to just always be able to do things with other people that I want to do. Not because they're organizing their lives around me but because our schedules just magically align all the time. Because I have a lot of things that I do with specific people, and it would actually suck a lot if I tried to combine them all at once. I'd always be able to talk whiskey with my dad and Sorian and Graham - I guess he lives here now, or he can just warp or something - and cuddle and talk plants with Marcus, and Sid would still fit on the back of my bike [he laughs]. I don't know what I'd do with Sid. Maybe it could be like it was in the old days, when it was me and Celia and Sid, and Nell and Bess would come over from Elians and we'd play soccer and all kinds of games. Maybe a little less wrestling though. And my mom wouldn't get on my case about working too much, and we'd read more of the same books so we could talk about it. Oh! I'd take Sid on [he does air quotes] "fishing" trips. I usually take Sorian with me but Sid hasn't been on one yet. It's not for actual fish - it's for aquatic plants, mostly to check and see how they're doing."
What is your greatest extravagance? "My mom would say my work, and it kind of is. I have spent a lot of time on it, and those Winter Band plants don't come cheap. But…I don't know. It's not really an extravagance yet but I think if Christina ever came to stay, that would be it. Because I don't know what would make her decide to come planetside. It would either be really good or really bad. But I would do so much to make sure that she was safe."
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? "Misery, huh…probably doing everything right but having my plants die anyway. While permanently being stuck on the phone with a distributor."
