LISA FRANKENSTEIN (2024)
Starring Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse, Liza Soberano, Henry Eikenberry, Joe Chrest, Carla Gugino, Jenna Davis, Trina LaFargue, Paola Andino, Joshua Montes, Chris Greening, Mae Anglim, Joey Bree Harris, Henry Eikenberry, Jennifer Pierce Mathus, Luke Sexton, Ayla Diane Miller, Jailyn Rae, Bryce Romero, Ashton Leigh, Charlie Talbert and Ray Gaspard.
Screenplay by Diablo Cody.
Directed by Zelda Williams.
Distributed by Focus Features. 101 minutes. Rated PG-13.
Screenwriter Diablo Cody has always had one of the sharpest minds for hip female storytelling and wickedly funny dialogue. Since she broke through with the Oscar-nominated 2006 film Juno, she has shared some of the most quirkily fun and yet often surprisingly dark women’s stories in Hollywood, including her series The United States of Tara, the criminally under-appreciated classic Young Adult, the aging rock goddess film Ricki and the Flash (Jonathan Demme’s final film) and even writing the book of the hit Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill, based on the music of Alanis Morissette.
So, Cody is mostly remembered for her slightly offbeat looks at the real lives of women. Still, even with her feet on the ground, Cody has always had a bit of a soft spot for the horror genre, as well, as you might pick up from her pen name. (Although the writer, whose real name is Brook Busey Maurio, insists the pen name came from merging the song “El Diablo” by old Duran Duran side-project Arcadia, and a town where she once got a speeding ticket called Cody, Wyoming.)
In 2009, hot on the heels of her breakouts with Juno and The United States of Tara, she penned a comic horror film called Jennifer’s Body, with Megan Fox as a demonically possessed killer cheerleader. The film opened to terrible reviews and box office, although over the 15 years since it was released Jennifer’s Body has gotten something of a cult following. She has not really worked on horror again since then unless you count the uncredited script doctoring which she did for the 2013 reboot of The Evil Dead.
That is until now. As you may guess from the title, the film is a very loose variation of the Frankenstein saga. (For the record, in the film the main character is not related to the original family and is not named Lisa Frankenstein but has the rather unfortunate name of Lisa Swallows.) Of course, there are lots of other very obvious influences touched upon as well, including Edward Scissorhands, Heathers, The Breakfast Club and even She’s All That.
Lisa (Kathryn Newton of The Map of Tiny Perfect Things) is a very, very disillusioned goth student in the mid-1980s. Her mental problems stem from her childhood when she witnessed her mother being stabbed to death in a home invasion – one that was never solved. Now her dad (Joe Chrest) has married a hellish evil stepmother (Carla Gugino), and they live with her and her new gorgeous, popular cheerleader stepsister Taffy (Liza Soberano). In one example of how Cody likes to toy with the audience’s expectations, Taffy is not a complete bitch to this new girl who is living in her house. Instead Taffy is very loving, nurturing and protective of Lisa.
Lisa really has no friends other than Taffy – although Taffy keeps trying to include her in activities to help her get to know people. Her hair is an unbrushed rat’s nest, she wears way too much black makeup and formless unflattering clothes. (Although, as is normal in this kind of teen film, all she really needs to do is fix her hair, get a makeup lesson, borrow some of Taffy’s sexier outfits and take off her glasses and suddenly she is absolutely gorgeous.)
The fact that she really doesn’t fit in is not helped by the fact that she often spends time in an abandoned and overgrown graveyard in the woods. She claims she enjoys the quiet, but she also likes being with the memories of the dead. In particular, she is fascinated by an elaborate headstone for a young pianist who died in the 1830s – which includes a full bust of the deceased.
One night, after a particularly uncomfortable party, in which she was dosed with drugs, Lisa goes to the graveyard in dismay. Somehow, due to a misunderstood wish, a torrential storm, and the graveyard’s apparent magical properties, Lisa somehow brings the corpse of a 150-year-dead musician back to life, although the worse for wear after over a century buried, filthy and missing several body parts. (Don’t even try to figure out the how and why of anything supernatural that happens in this film, none of it really will make sense.)
Cole Sprouse (of Riverdale) plays the creature. As with anyone playing the monster (or just a monster), Sprouse has a tricky role. He is only able to express himself through a series of grunts, gestures and glances through most of the film. (Only in the final scene, which may or may not be a dream sequence, he is able to speak.)
The creature is supposed to be a sweet, sensitive sort, but he also has a homicidal streak when he gets angry. He and Lisa start a killing spree to replace some of his lost body parts (again, how this works makes no sense at all, but you either buy in or you don’t).
And while the story made no sense whatsoever, I kind of bought in because the script was consistently funny enough that I overlooked many of Lisa Frankenstein’s flaws. Stylishly directed by Zelda Williams (Robin’s daughter) and well-acted – particularly by Newton and Soberano – it’s far from a great movie, but I have to admit I mostly liked it. It’s certainly different.

No rush, but if you're in the mood for another question: pick your one favorite and least favorite season of each of these series :) Charmed, BtVS, Angel, Friends, TVD. I know it's hard to pick just one favorite and one least favorite, so good luck ;)
Charmed
Favourite season: Season 4
What can I say about this season? It’s just brilliant. Although Prue is my favourite character, the aftermath of her death, introduction of Paige and transition to a new trio is handled brilliantly. I love the different dynamic that Paige brings to the show and how Piper and Phoebe’s worlds are completely turned upside down by losing Prue and finding Paige. I love getting to know Paige in episodes like A Knight to Remember and A Paige From the Paige, I adore seeing the process of Piper accepting Prue’s death and embracing Paige and their magic in episodes like Hell Hath No Fury and Lost and Bound. And despite the controversy surrounding the Cole/Source plot, I enjoyed Phoebe’s arc in this season with adapting to becoming the middle sister, getting married and pregnant and suffering the most life-changing, soul-destroying losses imaginable. We even got a Leo-centric episode with Saving Private Leo which finally gave us insight into Leo’s past. Season 4 is a consistently strong season in my opinion (albiet with a weak finale) and episodes like Charmed Again, Hell Hath No Fury, Charmed and Dangerous and Long Live the Queen are some of the most memorable episodes of the series for me. You can read more about why I love season 4 here.
Least favourite season: Season 8
This season is so weak. The show could’ve (and probably should’ve) ended with season 7 so the whole season suffers from a complete lack of direction. All of the characters have already gone full circle with their arcs and development so there’s nowhere new to take them. As a result, they all feel watered down. Phoebe and Paige lose all of their personality and spark, whilst Piper is reduced to a stereotype where her snark and sarcasm is taken to unnecessary levels. Billie and Christy are poor villains for the final show-down and neither actress fits within the show. They steal too much focus from the sisters and since it’s the final season this is the season that should be all about the sisters. In addition, there’s a complete lack of sisterly moments in this season, Darryl is absent and Leo is removed for a large part of the season. Not to mention, Paige and Henry and Phoebe and Coop are rushed romances established simply to give Phoebe and Paige their “happily ever after” for the season finale. Even the final episode is pretty weak. Whilst I appreciate the happy ending, it all seems cheesy and too good to be true, and it’s way too Piper-centric and lacks balance. You can read more about why season 8 is my least favourite here.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Favourite season: Season 2
This season is a solid and a really great season. We have Spike and Drusilla as the best villanous pairing in teleivision history, a brilliant two-parter with a dramatic twist in Surprise and Innocence, the Angelus arc which I never get tired of watching and a strong ending with The Becoming Part 1 and 2. For Passion alone this season deserves to take the number 1 spot, but my love for Angel/Angelus (and Bangel) only adds to how much I love the season.
Least favourite season: Season 7
Whenever I rewatch BTVS, I rarely make it through the final season. It’s just not a good season. I don’t like the direction Buffy and Spike’s relationship is taken in, I dislike the introduction of the Potential Slayers, the after-math of Willow’s dark arc is handled poorly, the Willow/Kennedy romance is rushed and completely forced, The First is a poor final villain to end the series with particularly following villains like the Mayor, Angelus, Spike and Dru. All of the supporting characters (Willow, Xander, Anya, Dawn etc.) are pushed aside and given no real arcs or development. Overall this season is completely forgettable and a very weak end to a brilliant series.
Angel
Favourite season: Season 2
Ah, it’s so hard to choose because it’s a toss-up between season 2 and 3. At this present moment, I’m going to go with season 2. I love Darla’s arc in this season and her dynamic with Angel, it’s also so satisfying to see Dru and Darla wreak havoc together. Angel gets pushed to arguably the darkest place he’s ever been (up until this point) and I love seeing him lose all faith in the world, life and humanity only to then have an epiphany where his entire perspective shifts and he gets absolute clarity. Seeing Cordy, Wes and Gunn go off on their own is great, I love their dynamic and how strong they are in this season. This is also the final season that features Kate, who I really like and think is very underrated. There’s a lot of focus on other minor characters who I love such as Lilah and Lindsey. This is also the season that we get the newest additions to Angel Investigations: Lorne and Fred. Honestly, the end of this season really lets it down for me, but the beginning and middle is so strong with Darla and Angel that it always sits near the top as my favourite season.
Least favourite season: Season 4
This probably won’t come as a surprise to any Angel fans reading this. Season 4 is undoubtedly the worst season of the series. It takes a beautiful, complex, well-developed character in Cordy and completely decimates her. Everything that she is and that fans love her for is stripped away, her agency is removed and she’s hijacked by an evil being who uses her body to commit horrendous acts. Seeing Cordy!Jasmine sleep with Connor will always make me feel physically sick. For Angel to have to witness that and endure the pain of seeing the woman he loves having sex with his adolescent son is disgusting. Overall, the treatment of Cordy and Connor in this season makes me so uncomfortable. Fred and Gunn’s relationship is dismantled to make way for Fred and Wesley, which in my opinion is by far the weaker ship. Even the appearance of Angelus and Faith later on in the season doesn’t make up for the rest of the season. Losing Cordy and Lilah are huge losses that also make this season my least favourite.
Friends
Favourite season: Season 3
This is a great season. Whilst every season of Friends is generally a mixed bag in terms of the quality of episodes, season 3 is pretty consistent. The ensemble feels at its strongest in this season and every episode gives focus to the group as a whole. Ross and Rachel’s relationship is great in this season and their break-up is genuinely heart-breaking; we have Janice this season who I find highly entertaining; Monica and Richard’s relationship which I enjoy (despite being a Mondler shipper) and of course, the chick and duck. Despite this being a sitcom, all of the characters go through genuine development in this season too. Joey gets to experience what it’s like to be on the other side of things when he falls for Kate who plays around with his feelings; Chandler navigates his first serious relationship with Janice where he has to try and overcome his fear of commitment and later deal with the hurt of their break-up; Monica deals with the loss of her first great love in Richard and has to reconsider what she wants from her future; Rachel progresses in her career and tries to establish her own identity and independence for the first time; Ross has to face up to the damage his relationship with Carol has done to him in regards to his jealousy and insecurity. It’s rare that we see character development like this in a sitcom, but season 3 is definitley a strong season for this. There are so many golden episodes from this season: TOW No One’s Ready, TOW the Flashback, TOW the Football and TOW the Morning After.
Least favourite season: Season 9
Lets get this straight, there’s no such thing as a bad season of Friends, however, this is the weasest season in my opinion. I don’t like Chandler’s move to Tulsa, the direction Ross and Rachel’s relationship takes, how Rachel’s feelings for Joey are handled and the two parter TO in Barbados is my least favourite season finale, I really, really don’t like those episodes. I also find that there are quite a lot of episodes in this season that are just plain bad and not funny like TOW the Sharks, TOW Phoebe’s rats and TOW Monica sings just to name a few. Overall, there’s not a single season 9 episode that I could name as being a favourite or even coming close to being on my top favourite episodes list.
The Vampire Diaries
Favourite season: Season 3
This is an easy choice for me (although season 2 is a very close second). I love season 3. It’s the season of the Originals and for that reason I can’t do anything else but love it. Klaus is the best villain and feels like a genuinely terrifying threat to the gang. The overall plot across the season is tight and well executed. Despite my dislike for the triangle, it’s handled amazingly in this season and it’s the only season where I can genuinely appreciate the triangle and the dynamics within it. As a Stelena shipper, I live for the angst between Stefan and Elena in this season and adore every single scene they have together. I also love Stefan’s arc with him being forced to become Klaus’ side-kick to save Damon and then being compelled to turn off his humanity despite how hard he fights against that. It’s a great season for Stefan’s character and shows the complexity of him better than the previous two seasons. Elena is also at her best in this season. Her strength and resillience really shines through and in this season she stops feeling like a by-stander and like someone that’s taking charge of her life and getting shit done. Alaric’s arc is dark and heart-breaking. Caroline and Tyler are strong in this season and they’re one of my favourite TVD ships. However, Klaus and Caroline’s dynamic is intruiging and brings a new flavour to the show. And although I never wanted Elena to become a vampire, the season finale is fantastic and a very strong ending to a brilliant season.
Least favourite season (note that I haven’t watched seasons 7 and 8): Season 5
Urgh, this season is just the worst. It totally retcons the mythology and history of the show with making Stefan a doppelganger. As much as I love Paul’s acting, Silas is such a crappy character. The Travellers are pointless; Damon and Elena’s on-again-off-again relationship is tiresome, the Augustine plot goes no where; the switch from high school to college is bumpy; Stefan is completely sidelined by awful writing choices; the best character on the show (Katherine) is done a huge disservice and her exit from the show is pitiful; Bonnie suffers once again (surprise, surprise); the introduction of Nadia just doesn’t work; there’s stupid scenes and episodes that are present for the sole reason of baiting Stelena shippers (5x04 and 5x18) and the finale is completely dumb. There’s not a single thing I like about this season.
Thanks for asking, lovely!

❝ Fine, though I have no idea why you’re pestering me about this rather than your Lieutenant. I’ve seen you more in the past few days over this than I have to repair you from doing something idiotic like taking bullets for humans. ❞   He sits the wrench he was using to repair the circuit panels in his security system down. Elijah had problems with personal space, he didn’t like people crowding him and he definitely didn’t like feeling claustrophobic. It was something Connor no doubt noticed, he could easily register not just Elijah’s stress levels but his pulse as well. The fact he had crowded up against the inventor and stared him down was not only vindictive but sadistic as well.
He hadn’t done anything but mess a little with him, probe and make fun because it was entertaining, and all it resulted in was the Android getting physically abusive and now mentally. He didn’t care what the other called it, he could have simply walked away or shot the banter back at Elijah--instead he got violent. If it wasn’t for the fact that suggesting so would probably get him hit again, Elijah would think that a wire got crossed wrong in the Androids head or the Deviancy virus was malfunctioning.
Either way, he was still healing from the last punch he didn’t intend to get hit again. A part of him actually wanted the Android to just leave and considering how fond he had been of Connor weeks ago that was something he’d look into later. Maybe pay Henry a visit, discuss the event with the other RK800 and see what he thought. Elijah valued his opinion, he was good for shooting ideas off of and quite eager to talk with him.
❝ Back off. ❞   He didn’t care if Connor was taking orders from him or not, Elijah slid his way out from between the wall where the control panel was and the Android. Rubbing his hands together he took a breath, letting his body relax a bit the more distance was put between him and the RK800. His heart slowed, no longer attempting to put him into cardiac arrest and once he could finally feel the last bit of stress and shaking leave him he was standing by the window far from Connor.
Elijah gazed out over the mountains, the open space and sky, taking in the calming scenery before he let his mind wander back to the past three months he spent with Lieutenant Anderson in that horrible run down rat infested hotel. He would definitely file a complaint with Fowler if he thought it would get him anywhere, instead he’d just complain to Gavin about how the DPD treats it’s guests. Even though Gavin would just laugh at him.
❝ It wasn’t much really. As you know someones been stealing Thirium from CyberLife property and though that isn’t so surprising given the revolution the rate of which Red Ice had increased caused a bit of alarm. The Lieutenant theorized that another Red Ice Ring had broken out and, given I’ve taken to putting trackers on everything regarding that from other thefts, he thought I’d be able to aid in tracking it down. A correct assumption. ❞   He leaned against the glass panel and folded his arms across his chest.
❝ We tracked it a bit of distance out of town and the Lieutenant got us a rundown terrible motel room that you could contract the worst diseases in if you’re not careful. ❞   He shivered again and this time it was purely from the memory of the horrible place.   ❝ He drank a lot, stuffed his face with that disgusting greasy fattening food and complained constantly about what a terrible person I am. He lectured me on testing you the way I had, on talking to you the way I do, on behaving the way I do. If he could find something to nitpick about me he did. ❞   Elijah had taken it all in stride, used to the complaints people had on him now.
❝ When he ran out of insults he just talked about you. How important you are, how proud he was, give him a few drinks and the man loosens his tongue more than someone who can’t keep secrets. ❞   A small shrug here and Elijah sighs.   ❝ I learned about your cases, the Deviancy one too, how all of it ended. Then, a few more drinks in he was definitely far off his rocker, he spoke about Cole. Only briefly and then the man passed out. ❞
It was all depressing, all of it.
❝ Then, finally, they realized we were watching and broke into the motel room. Even for a man with a hang over I have to admit the Lieutenant isn’t bad at his job. He’d be much better sober however considering I got shot because of his terrible ability to remain sober. ❞   The bullet just grazed him but he could still be upset about it.   ❝ That’s it. ❞   He finally turns to Connor, waving his hand to signal the finality of his words.
❝ Happy? ❞   Worth punching him over?

The Great Lovers of Westeros, part I
Betha Blackwood and Aegon V Targaryen Aegon V had married for love, taking to wife the Lady Betha Blackwood, the spirited daughter of the Lord of Raventree Hall, who became known as Black Betha for her dark eyes and raven hair.
Criston Cole and Rhaenyra Targaryen So smitten was she by the charms of the man she called “my white knight” that Rhaenyra begged her father to name Ser Criston her own personal shield and protector. His Grace indulged her in this, as in so much else. Thereafter Ser Criston always wore her favor in the lists and became a fixture at her side during feasts and frolics.
Joanna and Tywin Lannister Though Tywin Lannister was not a man given to public display, it is said that his love for his lady wife was deep and long-abiding. “Only Lady Joanna truly knows the man beneath the armor,” Grand Maester Pycelle wrote the Citadel, “and all his smiles belong to her and her alone. I do avow that I have even observed her make him laugh, not once, but upon three separate occasions!”
Aliandra Martell and Drazenko Rogare Aliandra came young to her seat and thought herself a new Nymeria. A fiery young woman, she encouraged her lords and knights to prove themselves worthy of her favors by raiding in the marches. … But he and his brother Drazenko, the Prince Consort of Dorne, died within a day of one another, beginning the precipitous fall of the Rogares both in Lys and the Seven Kingdoms.
Loron Greyjoy and Desmond Mallister Of Loron Greyjoy, the Bard, and his great and tragic friendship with young Desmond Mallister, a knight of the green lands.
Jeremy Norridge and Daeron Targaryen A born soldier who rejoiced in tournament and battle, he preferred the companionship of Ser Jeremy Norridge, a dashing young knight who had been with the prince since the two of them were squires together at Highgarden. Prince Daeron brought to his father, Aegon, an altogether deeper sort of grief when he was killed in battle in 251 AC, leading an army against the Rat, the Hawk, and the Pig. Ser Jeremy died at his side, but the rebellion was quashed, and the rebels slain or hanged.
Eddard Stark and Catelyn Tully Bones, Catelyn thought. This is not Ned, this is not the man I loved, the father of my children. His hands were clasped together over his chest, skeletal fingers curled about the hilt of some longsword, but they were not Ned’s hands, so strong and full of life. They had dressed the bones in Ned’s surcoat, the fine white velvet with the direwolf badge over the heart, but nothing remained of the warm flesh that had pillowed her head so many nights, the arms that had held her.
Aemon and Naerys Targaryen “I love him, Father, I truly truly do, I love him as much as Queen Naerys loved Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, as much as Jonquil loved Ser Florian.”
Duncan Targaryen and Jenny of Oldstones Though betrothed to a daughter of House Baratheon of Storm’s End, Duncan became enamored of a strange, lovely, and mysterious girl who called herself Jenny of Oldstones in 239 AC, whilst traveling in the Riverlands. Though she dwelt half-wild amidst ruins and claimed descent from the long-vanished kings of the First Men, the smallfolk of surrounding villages mocked such tales, insisting that she was only some half-mad peasant girl, and perhaps even a witch.
Elaena Targaryen and Alyn Velaryon “She was the fairest treasure of the Maidenvault. Lord Oakenfist the great admiral lost his heart to her, though he was married to another.”

Nelson Riddle: Music with a Heartbeat Review – How Classic Songs Become Standard
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Nelson Riddle is a patron saint of comic book entertainment. He wrote the theme to Batman, the original 1960s camp classic TV series which paved the way for all things geek. That theme caught the excitement children of all ages felt from the moment of the twirling introductory horns through the POWs and ZOKs of the opening battle. Full-set drum rolls propel a swing-blues rhythm section through an ever-building cascade of wonder. Insistent scat singing clashes with atonal chordal squawks until it sounds like it will all come crumbling down, unless someone fires up the Bat-Signal.
You won’t find that in Nelson Riddle: Music With a Heartbeat. Nelson was one of the chief architects of the “Great American Songbook,” working with Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, and Nat King Cole. He helped Linda Ronstadt take the standards out of the elevator. Riddle scored hundreds of films, many of them classics because of his soundtracks. He arranged, produced, conducted and composed timeless sides, ushered in the popularity of concept albums, and transformed overlooked melodies into instantly recognizable song staples. The theme to Batman only gets a paragraph.
Nelson Riddle: Music With a Heartbeat is an informal affair. Author Geoffrey Littlefield is obviously a passionate and studied music fan, but he doesn’t bring a strong melody to the words. He repeats himself a lot, but not because he is creating refrains or reprising themes. The book reads like a long article, and the expositions resemble extended Wikipedia pages. The best parts come with the interviews, and the most extensive and revelatory come from Nelson’s son Christopher.
Christopher Nelson played with Buddy Rich, Henry Mancini, and Don Costa orchestras, and is a veteran session player in Hollywood recording studios. He is probably his dad’s biggest fan, but more importantly, his most ardent student. Christopher was a bass trombonist in his father’s orchestra, and took it over when he died. He keeps the Nelson Riddle Orchestra on the road, and his father’s friends in his circle. Sinatra called him by his first name. He awoke to sexual consciousness while watching a jazz singer bend her notes around music his father arranged. Christopher learned other lessons about love by watching his father, and the book does not shy away from Nelson’s many affairs or messy divorce.
Nelson Riddle was a lover. He brought sexuality into his strings. He and Sinatra made love swing. Nelson, we learn, composed musical charts around inner romantic fantasies. You could run the Batman theme over the most edgy motion picture sex scenes and it would be just as cinematically satisfying. After a strict chronological artistic reading, the book reveals Riddle was as prolific romantically as he was musically. He fathered seven children, and when he was having an affair with Rosemary Clooney, he proposed merging all their kids into one big happy family of twelve.
For much of Riddle’s career, he was virtually invisible, occasionally popping his head up with a wand in his hand conducting star attractions. Riddle had a deep friendship with Nat King Cole until the singer’s untimely death. He partied, after hours, with Sinatra. One of the revelations of the book is that Sinatra didn’t want his crowd called the Rat Pack. He inherited the name as the last surviving member of Humphrey Bogart’s inner circle, and preferred his own brand. But Riddle never pulled star power glamor.
The story is weighted in Nelson’s classic period, and would benefit from some lighter, poppier moments. Littlefield casually mentions how Nelson turned down an offer from Paul McCartney to collaborate on a song, without going into much-wanted details. The book also mentions how Riddle did the arrangement for Sinatra’s rendition of George Harrison’s song “Something,” without any insight on bridging the generations’ top talents.
Nelson Riddle: Music With a Heartbeat doesn’t also unlock trade secrets. We get a satisfying sense of how Riddle’s horn playing developed, and how it translated into fine-tuning his arrangements, but offers no insight into composing for a big-band or an orchestra. Though it does recount one fun story where Riddle and Andre Previn expose a well-trenched musical arranger as a fraud musician. They do it by composing dueling scores.
Nelson Riddle: Music with a Heartbeat traces Riddle’s life from Oradell, New Jersey, through his extensive career. We get a sense of his musical education, his influences, and his influence. We get an enthusiastic, but rote, run-through of his credits, from club, concert, and theater work to his stint as musical director for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour on CBS. The book teases, but doesn’t dip deep enough into the madness of genius, and how all work can be all play, even at its most serious. Riddle’s arrangements continue to play with the imagination of the ear. They allowed Sinatra to sing on the beat, before the beat, or after the beat, and still hit his musical mark. Littlefield keeps time.

Album of the Week: THE RATS – ‘In A Desperate Red’
Before he met Kathleen ‘Toody’ Connor, Fred Cole had already gained some notoriety with The Weeds/Lollipop Shoppe. Once they were together, these two garage rock legends would go on to form Dead Moon in 1987 and then Pierced Arrows, and would pretty much earn their legendary status based on output form those two bands alone. Before that, along with a host of drummers (Rod Rat, Sam Henry from The…
