Embarking on a journey into Gothic architecture, my exploration led me to discover remarkable historical books, dating back to the 12th to 15th centuries, available on archive.org. These invaluable resources provided an authentic glimpse into the intricate details and technical drawings of that era's architecture.
Diving into these historical texts, I meticulously studied the roof structures, marveling at their ability to craft circular shapes, examined the artistry of columns, and analysed the diverse window shapes and arches characteristic of Gothic design. This in-depth research not only deepened my understanding but also equipped me with a robust knowledge base, inspiring me to take the next step in my creative process.
Armed with newfound insights, I felt confident to venture into the modeling phase, where I began the intricate task of reconstructing the various elements of Gothic architecture. The fusion of historical authenticity and modern modeling techniques became a pivotal aspect of my creative journey, allowing me to bring the essence of Gothic design into a contemporary context.
Concept designer, Vasilij Kourkoff's work gave me inspiration and the idea of the conctruction.

Schiller to Goethe, 19 February 1804

informal sack-jacket or pet-en-l'air in undyed cotton, roller-printed with an all-over Stormont pins design in pinky brown. Sack back with 10 narrow pleats stitched down at shoulders and loose below; fronts and cuffs edged with ruffle-frill trim in self fabric; divided stomacher front with 6 striped silk ribbon ties each side; peplum gathered at side waist with pocket openings; elbow length sleeves with ruffle-frill trim at cuffs and button with linen loop at inner edge; linen lining to waist, with back lacing. Entirely hand stitched. Reputed to have belonged to Mrs David Garrick, wife of the celebrated actor.
There seems to be less dramatic change in the style of the wardrobe of the fashionable woman in the eighteenth century, than in the nineteenth, certainly in the essential types of dress. All dresses fitted a pattern, being ankle or floor length, with elbow length sleeves and a squared neckline, sometime with a short train, and with the skirt worn either closed, or open to show a decorative skirt or "petticoat". Around 1700, a gown known as a mantua was popular for most social occasions, comprising a long straight silhouette incorporating a short train, orginally worn down, and later looped up. By the middle of the century, two newer styles had taken over, the informal English robe or "nightgown" with the back tightly gathered into the waist, and the more formal French or "sack back" gown with flowing pleats from the shoulders. Other variations included the polonaise (with the skirt looped up over the petticoat as in an image below), and more simple "round gowns", which were increasingly popular as neoclassical influences developed after the 1780s (see Heideloff fashion prints below). Fabrics chosen were usually woven silk brocades or damasks, often in a stylised floral design until the 1770s, with simpler printed cotton callico and linen, or embroidered cotton muslin, increasingly fashionable thereafter.

Mainz, St. Peter
flickr

Follow @archpile 🏰 Lichtenstein castle, Germany. 📷 @_marcelsiebert. Schloss Lichtenstein is a privately owned tourist attraction built in Gothic Revival style and located in the Swabian Jura of southern Germany. It was designed by Carl Alexander Heideloff and has been described as the "fairy tale castle of Württemberg." It overlooks the Echaz valley near Honau, Reutlingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The modern castle was inspired by the novel Lichtenstein (1826) by Wilhelm Hauff and was built in 1840–1842. The ruins of the medieval castle that inspired the novel are a few hundred meters away. The name Lichtenstein translates as "shining stone." . Architecture is your drug.
Schiller to Goethe, 23 July 1798
Tumblr media Tumblr media
****
Leben Sie recht wohl.
Goethe to Schiller, 25 Juli 1798
