Brooke Ligertwood: The Story Behind the Guitar
Tumblr media
Behind every artist is the story of how they got their first guitar. The guitar that they use to write their songs, the guitar they bring on stage, the guitar that has made them into the artist they are today. For platinum recording artist, Brooke Ligertwood, Martin guitars have always been her number one choice but the story of how she received her first is one to remember.
At the young age of 12, Brooke was given a guitar by a family friend that she didn't even know how to tune. This guitar would eventually help her learn how to play, but it wouldn't be the Martin guitar that would create "Brooke Fraser". At the age of 16, Brooke became friends with a group of girls. One of the girls was Leah, a fellow singer-songwriter who performed all over their hometown in Wellington, New Zealand. When Brooke met Leah, Leah was saving up to buy her dream guitar: a Martian 000XM Auditorium. The day came when Leah was able to purchase the guitar of her dreams, but she felt that this guitar wasn't hers. Brooke met up with Leah at a cafe and Leah, with tears in her eyes, gave Brooke the Martin guitar and said that she felt like even though she bough this guitar for her, she felt it belonged to Brooke. This would be Brooke's first Martin and, ultimately, the guitar she would write her first record on.
Since then, Brooke has went on to purchase two Martins and she has never gone another way. So when Martin asked her to create her own signature guitar, you could imagine, she was thrilled.
The 000-28 Brooke Ligertwood Edition is an auditorium style guitar inspired by her favorite Martins like the Paul Simon and Eric Clapton She also added some personalized feature like a wreath on the headstock and her signature on the twentieth fret.

In Loving Memory - Lisa Marie Presley (1968-2023) Forever In Our Hearts
Tumblr media
How beautiful is a life so loved that the loss of it results in resounding sorrow felt across the nation? The mourning of an artist, a mother, a legacy that most have never met but whose presence helped us to understand our own.
Lisa Marie Presley, February 1, 1968 - January 12, 2023.
The daughter of Priscilla and Elvis Presley - a man she shared with an adoring world and who lived on through her work, her music, and her person - followed in her father’s footsteps, releasing three albums throughout her career. To Whom It May Concern released in 2003, So What in 2005, and Storm & Grace in 2012. She had the opportunity to sing with her father posthumously in 2018 with the reimagined duet Where No One Stands Alone.
A mother of four, Lisa Marie didn’t shy away from expressing the devastating grief of losing her son, penning an essay in August about life after loss in the hopes that it might help others grieving. Her openness and vulnerability a beautiful way to turn complex heartbreak into a meaningful discourse that will resonate and support others for years to come.
Her final days were spent celebrating her dad: a visit to Graceland for what would have been his 88th birthday and attendance at the Golden Globes to see Austin Butler, who portrayed Elvis in the film, win Best Actor (Drama Motion Picture).
Though gone far too soon, if it may be of any comfort, I like to think Elvis and her son were waiting for her with open arms, and she’s with them once again.
Sending love and thoughts to the family and to everyone who needs them right now.
