One of those Halmark-esque [insert royal title] for Christmas, but it turns into a horror film where the girl slowly realizes she's been brought there for nefarious reasons.
It's then, to the staff's horror, that she was built to be the final girl.

Kiss under the mistletoe with Hilclaude
Claude took off his sunglasses so he could see the plant better-- though he had only just been Summoned, he knew Askr didn't usually display mistletoe this time of year. "I can't tell if you're early or late," he said to Hilda, who was wearing a festive red outfit and hat, complete with a candy cane as tall as Claude.
"Either way, don't I deserve a kiss?" Hilda asked with a wink, beaming when Claude chuckled and leaned down from his wyvern to do just that.

What is it about the Christmas movies with Vannessa Hudgens. Why do i refuse to watch Halmark xmas movies but I unironically love the fucking Princess Switch. Like they’re not good, they’re objectively bad. So why.

Through magic Tav has managed to bring the companions into the modern world. And it’s the holidays, it’s cold so movie marathon time. Got them All in their cozy pajamas, made some cookies and coco. Time to pick a movie that will speak to each one.
Astarion, starting off easy because it’s the Grinch, he loves watching the Grinch wreck Christmas and truly feels for the Grinch after the mayor humiliates him (though he thinks instead of shaving the mayor the Grinch should’ve just killed him)
Gale, we are going with Its a Wonderful Life, a bit on the nose but to help to drive the point home in him that the world would not be a better place without him. He would also just truly appreciate, even though it would make him cry (bonus: it would definitely cause tears for a few others).
Karlach will love Elf, he matches her energy when Buddy gets to the new city like when Karlach came back from Avernus. She would love all of it, she needs a feel good movie.
Wyll gets the original Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, it’s cozy and it’s about someone saving Christmas even though they are different than the others. (Alternate any Halmark movie or the Holiday, Wyll is a romantic he will eat them up).
Lae’zel wasn’t easy to pick until I remembered Home Alone. She will be proud of how Kevin is able to arm himself against the robbers at such a young age, dubbing him a true warrior.
Shadowheart, for our goth girl, Nightmare before Christmas. She would understand the struggle Jack feels with finding his place in life (though situations have different outcomes but we can ignore that part).

D.A.N.M Polycule Holiday Headcanons
Huxley bakes cookies every year cause it reminds him of Christmas with his moms
Damian goes to see the lights every year when his mom has the time (she makes sure to take at least one night off to do it with him every year)
Gavin has no idea what the holidays are really about or what the traditions are but he loves doing and learning about the activities with everyone
Lasko was raised Jewish but hasn't really celebrated since he left home, and honestly low key resents the holiday at first because of what happened with his family. The rest of the group bought him a Menorah when they learned about this
The first time Hux invites everyone over to bake with him Lasko ends up crying cause he realizes what he's been missing out on all these years
The others hug and cuddle him until he feels better, somebody brings him a large cup of hot cocoa with lots of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon it was Damian, to help make him feel better. The poor boy only cries harder.
Lasko stops crying because Damian said something meaning to be comforting and Gavin makes some innuendo about it and Damian loses his mind.
Freelancer teams up with Damian to make a wonderful Holiday dinner for everyone
Damian loves the Christmas horror movies, he watched Krampus multiple times the year it came out.
Huxley, Gavin, and Lasko set up a "blanket fort" which really ends up being a large pallet of blankets cause they couldn't find enough blankets to make a roof, and the whole group makes a cuddle puddle while watching Christmas movies and eating the fresh baked cookies
They watch Damian's pick first, the horror, and Lasko is hiding in Huxley's side the whole time
Then they watch a Halmark Romcom, Hux and Lasko's pick, Gavin has a field day with this cheesyness
And they finish the night with Jim Cary's The Grinch, Freelancer's pick
Gavin is really confused about the religious aspects of the holiday but damn does this boy have the Christmas spirit. After watching the shitty romcom he immediately suggests they all go caroling
He also insists they leave out milk and cookies for Santa , the others aren't sure if he thinks Santa is real or not but none of them wanna ruin it if he does so they don't say anything and make sure everybody gets a present from Santa under the tree just in case
Speaking of, their tree is fresh, insisted upon by Huxley, and they all went to the store and picked out some ornaments separately so the tree is a beautiful mishmash of all of their tastes
They all fall asleep cuddled up on the floor, with half finished hot cocoas and a huge plate of cookies obviously decorated by the 5 of them

An Unhinged Animal Crossing ramble
I haven't played my Animal Crossing file in over a year, but damn did it help me through college.
I don't know about any of y'all, but I made backstories for the villagers on my Island, and they all had connections and families. I made lore for these adorable little bundle of pixels.
Some of these backstories are ridiculous and silly. And I'm okay with that. This post is for me, I am this post's target audience. If you like my nonsense, that's on you.
Mac and Cherry are siblings, Mac being the overly enthusiastic younger brother while Cherry's the cool and aloof big sister. Cherry left home to start her music career, and she's doing pretty alright as an indie solo act. Mac wants to be a wrestler, but misses his big sis, so he kinda set out to follow her. Cherry used to find him super annoying and was really pissed that he followed her, but their relationship is getting better. She's learned to appreciate she always has him in her corner, and has started to return the favor for Mac's training. Mac was the first to move to the island, as a great private spot for training, and talked Cherry into moving in when she was done with her current tour.
Clyde is literally just vibes. He's a country boy, but his rural neighborhood is getting encroached on by suburbs. So, he became a backpacker, looking for somewhere not very busy or high pressure to settle down. He has a passion for woodworking and bug collecting and has formed an unlikely friendship with his neighbor Julia. Tiny brain with a massive heart. Doesn't know what a politic is, doesn't wanna know what a politic is. Would think a huge cheese wheel is an appropriate gift for a first date.
Julia wanted a fresh start, with her new name and identity (because you cannot look at her and tell me she isn't trans). With a dream to be a fashion designer, she transitioned very publicly and said so long to everyone who knew the old her. She is a high demand city girl, but got tired of the grind and questions and judgement. So, she retreated to the island to collect her thoughts, get inspiration, and just vibe in a place where no one knew who she was. She has expensive tastes, but has found an unlikely friendship in the kind but simple farm boy next door.
(Yes, I do think there is a Halmark Christmas Movie ass romance story waiting to happen here, don't judge me)
Gruff and Vladimir know each other. They know each other far too well. Two bosses of different families, families with some less than savory business practices. Vladimir moved into town from the old country, and muscled in on Gruff's turf. The two hated each other at first, constantly plotting the other's downfall, until they discovered a mutual desire to protect their family. Gruff has his niece Chevre, while Vladimir has his granddaughter Meagan. They saw eye to eye, at least enough to not try and kill the other. It more became a game to them, and soon they covered for each other from the cops. Gruff came to the island first, mostly as a way to finally get out of the city, but wasn't alone for long. Before she moved away, Meagan tipped Vladimir that Gruff was at the island, and he soon followed. Now they take pot shots at each other in the form of old man banter, sometimes with graphic murder plots, and no one can really tell if they're joking or not.
(This is the part you're gonna have to go with me on this)
Marina and Cephalebot are an unlikely duo. She claims that he's her younger brother, but everyone can see there's something off about him. He's adopted, but from where, no one knows. Except the family (There's so few octopi villagers I just like to think they're all a family, okay?). Marina found him in a crater in a corn field, with no memory or understanding of where he was. So, she decided that was brother material enough. In reality, Cephalebot is an alien probe. He was sent to Earth to study the local life and report back (kinda like Eve from Wall-E), but crash landed. He felt welcomed and loved by the family that helped him, so he decided to stick around. So, he lives as a resident of the planet he was meant to study, constantly learning how to vibe as an Earthling. He comes across as weird and a little invasive, but he means well. Marina, however is all that she seems on the outside. She is sweet, she loves pink, and she's the big sister everyone would want. She's also surprisingly handy with a screwdriver (because she's learned how to repair Ceph if needed). Marina came to the island as a perfect beach house spot, noticed all the bugs and fish in the area, and called Ceph to join her because of how much he likes studying the wildlife.
Drago is the heir to a powerful family (either business or actual royalty I can't decide), but does not have a cutthroat bone in his body. He's gentle where his parents are ruthless. He gets called an idiot and soft all the time, and no amount of "training" ever makes him a cruel person. He had enough one day, and bailed. He took some money, some snacks, and left. He found the island as the perfect escape from his family, and set up shop pretty quickly. He gets a little nervous around some of the stronger personalities, but quickly warms up when he realizes none of them are as vicious as the ones he left behind. He hangs out with Clyde at snack time, helps Shino with her performances, and even likes listening to Vlad and Gruff's old man ramblings.
Shino is not of this realm originally. She was a demon, summoned by a jealous actress to sabotage her rival. She took on the mortal form she now inhabits as a way to get closer to her target, but something else captured her interest. She fell in love with the stage, with the attention she received for her own skills. So, she ditched her contract and set to travel the world as an actress in her own right. She writes plays and poems, and performs them for whatever audience she can find. She moved to the island for similar reasons as to Julia, to refresh and get some new inspiration. She found that she liked it there, and has made an unlikely friendship with Drago, an always willing audience member.
----------------------
If quite literally any of that was interesting to any of you, feel free to reblog or add your own thoughts. It was nice to finally just dump all of those ideas out there.

Racking my brain for Brawl zombie hc stuffff come on brainnnnn. Hmmmm I think I’ve got something, make sure he’s not left on the sidelines.
1. More lists! So, since Blast Off is the middle kid, I think Brawl and Onslaught are the oldest/second oldest. If Onslaught is super ridiculous about making sure everyone gets proper nutrients, Brawl is the one who’s super big on safety.
2. I bet he’s super big on safety measures. Dude probably has all kinds of curfews and “you can’t leave the house unless you have this, this, and this” and such. Like, he won’t let anyone leave unless either he or Onslaught is with them, and he won’t let anyone leave unless they have at least three (maybe four) weapons, each one varying in degree of defense.
3. Ummm come on, what’s something else… okay, I honestly think he probably takes to the farming life REALLY well. Like, adapts the best out of everyone (especially Swindle lmao). He probably likes waking up to care for various animals, tend to the lawn, repair fences and safety equipment when needed, just a super handyman type of person.
4. I like your mention of geology, and I bet if anyone dares bring up the subject, he will go ON AND ON about the quality of soil on the farm, how it impacts potential crops, what the best things to plant would be based on water pH levels, the right nutrients needed for quality produce, etc etc. Somebody stop him, one of the kids has come in covered in mud and it’s reminded him of something he’s been meaning to explain about the benefits of soil that’s kept super moist during the season from germination to harvest.
5. Probably a very intense, very overwhelming personality. He just gets so excited about things, and he just HAS TO SHARE IT RIGHT NOW, LIKE RIGHT NOW. It can be kind of scary, but he doesn’t mean any harm, he just likes to share things with everyone and he’s just naturally a very intense presence.
6. Probably stems from the oldest-sibling mindset, but I’m thinking he’s probably really good with the kids. Not in the “I handle them well” sense, but in that the kids really like him. Everywhere he goes, they usually follow. They probably feel safe when he’s around, since I’m guessing one single palm of his is about the size of a zombie’s head, but still.
7. Probably makes a lot of dad jokes unintentionally. Also sort of obsessed with keeping the house at a certain temp, locking the doors at night, turning off the lights after walking out of a room even if you’re just turning the hall to the bathroom and heading right back, probably has a whole collection of flannel shirts he uses as sweaters… stuff like that. He’s probably not even that old, but the poor dude’s already in his 40s and has grandkids and goes to watch said grandkids play at softball games.
That’s all I can squeeze from my brain, but at least Brawl isn’t one of those characters who just sits in the background like 🧍‍♂️ and is just there to fill pages. Congrats Brawl, you’re part of the family now and have your own zombie AU headcanons.
Brawl and the fight over the thermostat. His personal war. Brawl vs the weather forecast. Brawl finds a farmers almanac. Brawl’s lectures on soil vs onslaughts lectures on nutrition vs vortex standing there drinking a caprisun.
Brawl wouldve fit the ‘farmer’ bill to a T before the apocalypse, and even moreso after. But during the Before, it was always funny to see those unversed in the town gossip to swoon over him (“a real handsome farmer type, look at him go…”) and then be harshly informed of the reality that, no, he is not your Halmark Christmas Movie Lumberjack Farmer Husband-Core.
Brawl falls asleep to Texas chainsaw massacre a few times. It’s not that it’s boring, it’s that he’s watched it enough times that he often puts it on and then zones out and takes a nap.
Out of everyone, Brawl would have a tumblr.

listening to the long form story break episodes rn but do you have any recs for the short ones?
Well here's the episodes that I go back and relisten to the most. because i'm me it tends to be the horror ones but some of them also just have the funniest moments or they made a good movie.
TOP TIER BEST EPISODES:
111. What's Eating Gilbert Grape - Genuinely my fave episode and the movie i want to exist the most, where they make a gay gothic romance set in the vineyards of napa valley. tw for like child death and cannibalism and general gothic horror elements.
109. n o t h i n g - The funniest episode, i've listened to it dozens of times and still have parts that make me laugh til i can't breathe. i don't usually relisten to the actual movie part though because tw for a lot of talk about cat death, but the preamble to them settling on their final idea and their detour through weird penis and/or death related art projects are one of the funniest bits of podcasting i've ever heard and matt arnold is obviously the comedy god of this entire crew.
and then just some really good episodes that I've relistened to:
70. Heaven Heist - maybe the most iconic episode and if you're listening to the long form episodes then i assume you already know it but the one where they originally break the story is just so good that it must be listed here.
76. Tearjerker - Probably the best one for dndads fans since it 1. has Beth May as a guest and 2. tells a horror story about the cycle of bad fatherhood. tw for discussions of abuse and toxic masculinity
90. Bird Box - Them trying to crack their own version of bird box when they realize none of them have seen it. tons of funny bits and a pretty interesting final product about family. tw for child endangerment & some minor mentions of animal death
102. Sensory Deprivation Horror Movie - another one with a lot of funny bits, they try to create their own quiet place or bird box movie focused around one of the other major senses.
104. First - where they make a movie about inheriting a youtube empire because you commented first on a video, but it somehow becomes a sci-fi thriller
106. Disney Endgame - they're tasked with laying the groundwork for the next big step: an entire disney-owned cinematic universe. really wild especially the elevator pitch which is one of the funniest that they've done.
122. Pixar's Shoes - where they create an inspiring and formulaic pixar film about a random object, with some bits that almost put me in tears laughing
123. Halmark Movie Bonanza - just trying to use their hour runtime to quickly make as many hallmark christmas movies as possible which is absolute gold if youre as intimately familiar with the hallmark channel as i sadly am
139. Disney Channel Original Movie Marathon - Another one that i might just like because of my extreme familiarity with the source material, but this is a really funny one where they look at DCOM posters and try to make up the movie that it must be with no extra information. one of the movies they make is a ghost based lesbian surfing movie that i desperately wish was real.
and there's honestly a ton of other really funny episodes but these are just the ones i go back to the most. i do recommend being liberal about skipping episodes though like there is no shame in deciding to go to the next episode if they start the "full 5 act structure plan" phase of the episode and you're not into the story. that's the beauty of this being an episodic show lol

Do you have any good websites that show movies for free?
There's Crackle, I learned about that one being poor and going through the different online features on my Blue Ray player years and years ago. Haven't looked up what they've got lately but I did see that yes they are still up and running, back when I found them they were also making their own productions, ones I watched weren't half bad.
Tumblr media
Pluto.tv is another one, I have their app on my phone even screenshots are disabled by the site and app but they've got some of everything provided it's not new.
Good app, good site they actually have a live TV and movie section that runs a legit schedule or you can search through their selections and pick out what you like.
I used to put on the 24 hour "Leverage" channel and just zone out, don't know if that one is still going or not but it looks like they've got some of the Showtime original shows in a channel there.
Oh lord they have the full "Pink Panther" collection up to watch for free, Peter Sellers and Steve Martin.
Assload of Halmark Christmas specials too, in every skin tone you can imagine it would seem.
Good lord that's a lot of Hallmark movies _________________
Those are the two I know of off the top of my head, there's gonna be more I'm sure.
Additionally I believe NBC's "peacock" service has a "free" option some of the other bigger ones do as well
Free obviously isn't actually free, there's commercials, but the whole on demand part combined with the selections they have make that not such a big deal.
There's more out there too no doubt, someone may add them to this ask or send them over as an ask so peek back at both just in case.
