Shanks always seems so nostalgic for the past. Even though he could easily reach out to Luffy or the people of Wano, he doesn’t. He acts like someone so far removed from them, as if it’s not his place to intrude in their lives anymore.
He could say hi to Luffy, he could drop in on Momo and Hiyori to see how they’re doing now that Wano is liberated, but it’s like he’s forbidding himself from it. He creates this barrier between them and him. Why don’t you let yourself see the people you want to see, Shanks??
So imagine how happy he was to see Luffy and Buggy becoming Emperors alongside him. Finally he’s seeing his past resurface in the present. They’re no longer old memories he could only look back on, they’re a real part of his present now.
It would be too cruel after twenty plus years for Shanks and Buggy to never visit Wano again to see Momo, Hiyori, Nekomamushi and Inurashi :(
We never even got to see Buggy reunite with Crocus and Rayleigh even though he surely passed through where they’re at? We don’t get to see any happy reunions with Buggy and his old crew 😭

Thinking about Hiyori again and how much more her character could've been explored and developed. For example, how did she survive those 20 years without anyone ever recognizing her seeing as she's the very image of her mother, and if some did recognize her, did they ever try to talk to her? were they on Oden's side? Were they killed by Danjiro by trying to give away who she is?
Another point is the men she robbed. Why those men? Did they do something to her specifically? Were they avid supporters of Orochi? Why those men in particular did she robber and what did she do with the money? Was it given to poorer areas of Wano or perhaps she endorsed the witching hour boy (danjiro) in his exploits?
And what about her relationship to Momo? Their reunion was so very rushed and it doesn't make sense to me that she'd want to keep away from Momo at first by fear that she would get in the way when she's the one who's been fighting the longest, albeit in her own way. And what were the thoughts on her head to see her brother still as a child? How shocking was it to see how suddenly he aged those 20 years in the blink of an eye? How will their relationship change after everything she's gone through, all the growth she's done over the years while Momo remained the same 8 years old child she probably didn't even remember very well?
And talking about Momo, was there ever resentment that he was sent to the future and didn't have to live through 20 years of Kaido while she was left behind? Was it their mother's choice to leave her behind or was it by chance? Did she ever resent her mother for it?
And how could there be no resentment at all when she had no qualms about giving her sword away to Zoro? Even if it was to get Shusui back, even if it was because Zoro saved her or she recognized him as powerful and a good person, it's not normal to give away the only thing she had left of her father that still connected her to him, and was, undoubtedly, a treasure of wano.

I just had a dream. It's the continuation of the Noragami Ending.
Right after Yatori's reunion, after much persuasion, Yato finally takes Hiyori to Kofuku's house. She finally meets Yukine. Yukine was crying. The trio made a big hug. Everyone was happy. Hiyori traced her belongings that were left in Kofuku's place, filled with nostalgia (like her middle school's books, Yato's shrine, her old uniform). She couldn't believe it's been 10 years. After she managed to get a day-off from her job, she's going down the memory lane; tracing the path she took on the fateful day where she lost her life.
The story ends there. On the bottom page of the last page, it says it's a spin-off part 1 out of 6. A spin-off. I couldn't believe my eyes; Noragami will be continuing for another 6 months?? In my dream, I assume each story will be about Hiyori visiting the respective Gods' temple (Kofuku-Tenjin, Bishamon, Ebisu-Take) while they share their perspective about what happen right after Father was gone.
Then, I woke up. Sad. Just when it starts getting juicy, too. It feels surreal that it's not real, but I have a good time remembering it. Now that I'm awake, it's not a bad fanfic idea at all. The last two spin-offs will be about Yato, Yukine, and Hiyori's plan for the next 10(?) years.
Really not a bad idea at all. ☺️

Okok, I'm trying to be chill about this and I mean maybe we'll get more in the extra volume releasing next month, but
That's it? Really????? Where's the drama, the angst, the tension? There was so much of it in the previous chapter. Why are we not getting the payoff for it???
Hiyori died for Yato. Yato saved her at the possible cost to himself. And we just. Timeskip? We just go yada yada to what happened in the last few years? We get a bunch of telling and zero showing of what happened????
And then it just abruptly ends with Hiyori remembering Yato in the most boring way possible? Nothing after that???
Like. Couldn't there have been just a touch more? Maybe Hiyori waking up feeling like she's missing something and us following her through that. Maybe Yato following her through that, too, and coming to terms with her not remembering him as maybe being better for her in the long run, anyway.
Or even without that a proper fucking reunion outside of them just. Looking at each other? Hiyori getting mad that Yato just let her forget. Yato apologizing and being kinda a sad boy about it. Or Yato explaining himself and being relieved that she remembers, but guilty for what happened. Or Yukine being there and happy she remembers and blaming Yato in kinda a joking way for letting her forget. Or just.
Something more than what we got.
I enjoyed the journey, but the ending is just as important to put attention into, and this was so anticlimactic and rushed that it sours some of the build up a bit for me.

Chapter 106-2 thoughts
sorry this is LATE but this chapter did horrible things to my brain so let's all yell about it under the cut.
Daikoku continues to be the best character. And the Kofuku/Daikoku reunion I feel kinda got swept under the rug with everything else that happened but I'm glad they're back together. Even if the circumstances are less than ideal.
But before I move to talking about other reunions under less than ideal circumstances,,, I'm glad the shinki have rallied. It goes along well with the manga's message that shinki are responsible for shaping the morals of their god, and I would really hate to read a manga that ends with a massacre of the human race, besides.
On to the Father section, the meat of this chapter, I wonder why Kaya is nowhere to be found. Though her death was sudden, I suppose she didn't become a shinki nor an ayakashi, so Father's dimension can only create a facsimile. So was she satisfied with her life until that point? Or was she so afraid of Father she didn't want to become like him? The latter seems more likely to me.
The parallel between Father looking for Kaya to Yato wanting his shrine hurt me deeply. The difference, though, is that Father would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, whereas Yato had people to stop him and steer him. Like I speculated last month, too, I am not convinced that Father even believes in his own mission. It's more like he got drunk on power and enjoyed causing collateral damage, to me.
In any case, Yato was happy to settle and keep improving himself once he got his shrine, giving up his dreams of being the most-worshipped god since that wasn't really what he was after. Meanwhile, no amount of reparations could fix the damage Father has done, and unlike Yato, he wouldn't stop his behaviors even if Kaya was miraculously here. More likely, he'd try to force Yato and Hiiro back into their roles as his submissive children, and kill everyone who doesn't belong in his facade of a family portrait.
But Kaya is not here, Father has discovered that his will is not all-powerful, and now he's right back to where he started. Ruling over nothing.
The reminder of how Yato sees Izanami in the year 2023 was honestly so rude. And even more rude was that apparently Father knew Hiyori was here, and made an educated guess that Yato saw Izanami as her.
HERE'S HOW THE HIYORI SAKURA CONVERSATION CAN STILL WIN--
Okay so now we're at the Yatori reunion. I think "long-awaited" hardly covers this. It's been more than 5 years for us, and over a month in-universe, and even worse, Yato basically told Hiyori the next time he saw her he would have reincarnated. And now she sees him standing before her as a child. So. That's going well.
A couple things concern me about this. First of all, Hiyori's in poor condition, so something tells me she's going to believe he died and not find out the truth for quite some time. Which would break me beyond repair, so I hope that doesn't happen and I will not elaborate on what's in my head. Second, the reason she's like that at all is because of trash dad's interference. Yato still doesn't know about him setting wolves on her. He's going to quickly put two and two together, and on top of that, Yukine is also dissolving.
So, will Yato kill Father with his own two hands at long last? Will he revert to being an adult once he does? Will Hiyori realize the truth before they part ways forever? CAN WE HAVE A GOD DAMN BITTERSWEET ENDING? I'M GOING TO BE INCONSOLABLE IF WE DON'T.
I think. we will be fine. It's quite late in the game to kill any of the main characters now, but I never look forward to seeing how Adachitoka inevitably plans to hurt me. So with that in mind, I'll see you all next month for another round of screaming.

KIMI GA SHINE - THE MASTER ANALYSIS - Chapter 1-1: Prologue (SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE GAME)
So, after some deliberation, I’ve decided to do a daily blog thing where I play through the entirety of YTTD, go through every route and scene and also watch through the minisodes before then doing an analysis of everything within it…
What better place to start than the beginning, eh?
Tumblr media
We begin the game off with an ominous silhouette asking us one simple question. “Do you know what a majority vote is?”. At the beginning of the game when there is barely any context, this scene serves as a helpful way to introduce the core concept of majority votes to us. Our friend, Shadow the Beaniehog over here gives us a simple demo of a majority vote with two options that are, ironically, positions regarding majority votes. There is not much to say about the dichotomy between Mr. Blue and Ms. Red in this scene other that they represent compliance and defiance to majority votes. Whoever we choose, the other one dies which foreshadows the concept of the Main Game very early on. A majority vote to choose who is killed. Compliance and defiance to majority votes are things we will discuss in other scenes, because they are themes that become important.
Beyond the apparent stuff we can glean from this scene, we can also analyse it from our present point of view in hindsight. This scene at the very beginning is meant to make you distrust the character we come to know as “Sou Hiyori” (the name taken on by the body of Shin Tsukimi) it makes you suspicious and wary of him from the get go and makes you primed for his betrayal and “nice persona” to fall. When in reality, this scene is being conveyed to Shin himself. Beyond this scene being just an introduction, we are literally seeing how the fear of death was being injected into Shin like poison, forcing him to take the “Sou Hiyori” persona and becoming the catalyst for 2/3 of the game’s conflict. This is also, technically, the first time we get to see Midori (or atleast a warped yet accurate perception of him, I’ll elaborate more when we actually get to Shin reflecting on this in 2-2). The shadow teasing and mocking the player is also such a good use of subverting expectations. It makes us think that Shin/Sou is going to be a prick (which he is, don’t get me wrong) but also, the reality is that Shin is the one that the shadow is mocking in a malicious tone, cornering him into a situation he can’t get out of.
It’s interesting how the first scene of the game we see ends up being about Shin when he’s not even protagonist. I’d say that our actual protagonist, Sara and Shin are both equally important and crucial to the story. But speaking of Sara…
Tumblr media
Our next scene (or less of a scene, more of a 10 second moment) features the main girl, Sara Chidouin! This scene is another one meant to sow suspicion and distrust within us (even though it’s not aimed at anyone in particular) as two long arms reach out seemingly about to grab Sara. You can make various assumptions from this, that these arms belong to the kidnappers and this is the scene where Sara is being kidnapped to the Death Game, but it’s be wrong. With the benefit of hindsight, we know that this is Keiji reuniting with Sara during the Banquet after Ranmaru locked him in the lockers. It’s a small sliver of content that hints at the dynamic between Sara and Keiji, one of the most important dynamics in the game coming just before Sara and Joe’s dynamic and Sara and Shin/Sou’s dynamic. Again, a scene that comes off as frightening ends up being a moment of reunion and confidence.
These two scenes do help illustrate one of (what I see as) the themes of the game. Of trusting those who are in the same situation as you, as trying to connect with your fellow human beings. These scenes try to sow distrust but end up being subvertations from the truth (Shin’s real persona being masked by a defence of malice, Keiji being a supportive person to Sara despite what he does at the beginning of the game)
Let me know if you have any criticisms, or disagree with what I’m saying!

My darling Dolls AU
Prologue:
You admire and love dolls. You always walk this certain shop from school when your young.
You always gaze longingly at the beautiful dolls that are being sold and displayed.
Yet as someone who cannot afford much, those dolls are luxuries you can never own.
Yet even knowing that fact. It doesn't stop you from wanting to own one. That's why you save and save, from pennies to a few cents.
Maybe with those mere changes and money, you have saved your able to buy one, someday.
Even the dolls arent new, or branded, or even if they are broken or haunted. You want the doll.
That's why when there's a chance of having one thrown your way, even if it's from a shady street toy seller, you are quick to run back home to get your savings and brought the only doll in the stock.
It's a beautiful doll with dark purple hair that reminds you of the night sky and beautiful shade of blue eyes.
The doll have a nervous sharp teeth smile, as if not sure what to do while you stare at it with a wide happy grin.
There's a a bit of damage in the doll but it's not something you cannot learn to fix.
That's why you hug the doll lovingly and welcome the first doll to your life. Not even minding the words of the seller.
"Remember dolls can have a soul. If they love and care enough, they will gain a heart. Maybe one day with enough love they can become a human too. So little deary, take care of mayoi for me ok?" The seller says as he give you the doll
"Ok!" The young you replied happily to the seller. Not even knowing such fate have been created that day you choice to take the doll home.
As you play with the doll beside you, after fixing the small problem it has, the nervous smile becomes a happy smile as it turns its head to look at your sleeping form that hugs its soft plushie body. "Hello, my owner... I'll take care of you too... Even though I won't do much. In this state of mine but maybe one day I can do more..... So please continue to love me till that day." A voice spoke out in your humble room but you were too asleep to hear it.
Soon a singing voice that lullaby you to a deep sleep can be heard in the room, as your doll sing you a song of a phantom who finally found a home.

I am eating up all these Noragami theories and hot takes you've posted MMMMMMM DELICIOUS KEEP EM COMING 👏
How do you think it's going to end now that there's only 2 updates left?
Oh... Oh my... Thank you (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
I've got no clue. I was thinking Bishamon would have showed up two chapters ago to help finish things but now it's hard to tell. But here's how it might work in my head if we only have forty pages to work with (and if I may indulge myself some slight Tsukiyomi vibes).
(NOTICE: There are some symbols in here like this (/) to denote separate plot paths.)
Pages 1-3: Yato asks Amateresu for help / tries to cut ties with Hiyori to send her back into her body.
Pages 4-5: Hiyori stops the process herself because she actually has all her memories / it works and she is saved but loses her memories.
Page 6. Big hug, maybe little kiss? / Hiyori unconscious but stable.
Page 7. Crafter big Mad™️
Page 8-9. Amateresu removal of Crafter / Bishamon Removal of Crafter / Izanami drags Crafter back to hell.
Page 10. Reunited hug / Yato grieves and Yukine comforts.
Page 11. Nora looking on and grieving, lost.
Page 12-14. Yato being acknowledged for his role in the whole ordeal with panels showing the fallout in other places (Tsukiyomi reveal maybe? Yato becoming known across Japan? Hired by Amateresu to cut their memories out?)
Page 15-17: Probably some Kazuma and Bishamon interaction here, not sure how intensive to the cast.
Page 18-20: Yato and Yukine (and Hiyori?) preparing for taking the next step / Yato scooping up Hiyori to "return her to her world."
-Final Chapter-
Page 1: Time skip?
Page 2-3: Kofuku's house hanging out (Nora is there as Kofuku's Shinki, seems to be adjusting well with Yukine).
Page 4: Také crashes party (again) to inform of Bishamon's official pardon from Heaven.
Page 5-6: Bishamon tearful and happy reunion with her family.
Page 7. Something about Ebisu here?
Page 8-9: Také overstays his welcome and final panel with Kiun where Také could take a lesson in humility from Yato.
Page 10-16: Hiyori Shinki stuff/ Yato still sad about Hiyori and maybe following her around?
Page 17-19: Big party, everyone is here, everyone is okay / Hiyori meets Yato again for the "first" time.
Page 20: "May you be blessed with good ties"
Not a fan of Hiyori losing her memories of the whole thing, but I imagine the ending will still be positive no matter what. :) Thanks for the ask and have a great day!

A SWIRL OF WATER (MAKES MY HEART A CLEAR POOL)
Tumblr media
pairing: trafalgar law x fem!reader genre: mild angst, fluff, finally getting together, domesticity (?) warnings: n/a note: wano spoilers! speculation. first time writing in (checks notes; months) but here we are! listen to strawberry swing by coldplay while reading :) synopsis: law spends time with his reunited lover.
Tumblr media
as the country of wano approaches, law almost can't recognise it. the ever-clear, rushing water (still infested with koi) gives way to a land that he can't believe is wano. what were once wastelands are now green, lush expanses of woods with komainu frolicking about, the sky now a perfectly clear blue even in industrial areas, and the nation looking invigorated. thriving.
even once starving towns like hakumai or ringo, with their depressing weather no longer sported empty, deserted looks. the people were out and about, with enough to eat and drink - though he supposes that could be attributed to the opening of the country to the rest of the new world - but it would be difficult to deny that wano was doing well in the years after kaido's defeat and kozuki momonosuke ascending as rightful shogun.
he now finds himself appreciating the fine architecture of the flower capital, something that he couldn't have done in his previous visit, because, well, he was on the run.
he is, in a way, forced to be here as a part of what he calls "luffy's grand tour of going to places he's fixed", where the newly-crowned pirate king is leisurely sailing around the world and visiting liberated countries. after a somewhat pleasant reunion with the strawhats at punk hazard (though he won't ever tell them that), he is now at wano.
and despite being treated like literal royalty by the people, as esteemed guests of the ruler, he can't subdue the irritating, non-medical lump in his throat as he travels to the shogun's abode. because the fact of the matter is that years after its liberation, wano may retain the name of kozuki momonosuke in it's association, but for trafalgar d. water law, surgeon of death, an emperor of the sea, one of the worst generation, wano has always been your country in his heart, and nobody else's.
Tumblr media
the twang of the shamisen is beautiful - harmonic, as usual - but you can't find the time to appreciate it. you've been splitting hairs over the straw hats, heart pirates and kid pirates all showing up at once at the country's shores for a "surprise visit!". making arrangements for their welcome, stay, hospitalities was a headache, to say the least. the very least luffy could have done was announced his next island to terrorise (er.. you mean grace) to give you notice, but luffy was never one to make grand plans, you think wistfully.
so you throw yourself into preparing for their stay at the flower capital - their stops on the way at kuri and other towns being prolonged to enjoy the culture and food - just so you can ignore, for fleeting moments, the irritating beat of your heart at the thought of seeing trafalgar law after all these years.
but it seems that the time has finally come, with you being mere doors away from the man who you fell in love with all those years ago, back when he was a liberator who came with luffy and you were a mere teahouse girl. you wipe your sweaty palms against the fine silk of your kimono.
how time flies - he is now an emperor of the sea, and you are the head of cultural affairs in the kozuki shogunate, but one thing you both failed to suppress after all these years was the fact that the both were irrevocably in love.
you push the heavy double doors open with ease.
Tumblr media
the feast is going well so far. as all feasts do, when they involve luffy. (though you're grateful nobody has broken into drunken brawl yet)
(scratch that, zoro and sanji look awfully close to doing that. it's best if you take the sake bottle away from the swordsman and introduce sanji to one of the courtesans) excusing yourself from nami and hiyori's company, you manage to squeeze yourself from the sweaty crowd of drunken bodies in the shogun's lawn to approach the bickering marimo and cook. you're just about to muster a halfhearted greeting and grab the bottle, but before you even do, you trip over someone's abnormally large boot (you spot eustass kidd in the corner of your vision, deeply involved in a drinking contest with momonosuke and luffy).
the world becomes a blur of green grass and soft yellow lamplight, and you stiffen your shoulders, preparing for impact with the soil, eyes scrunched up until you realise - oh. you're not falling.
you certainly aren't, you realise, as you look up at a familiar, grumpy face gazing at you. the grip law has on your shoulders is firm, and you're quick to jump out of his embrace and clearing your throat.
fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck- "ahem. thank you for catching me, law."
he shrugs noncommitally.
"you've always been clumsy, y/n," he responds gruffly, and you seethe. really, he sees you after years and this is what he says! no long-lost greetings, not even a faked how-have-you-been?
trafalgar law is really still the same. your anger wanes, and you relax. he's still looking at you intently, and his expression is bored, disinterested.
he looks well. the tenseness that he used to store in his shoulders is not there (as much). his face, though grumpy, is relaxed. his eyes convey the message of someone who has made peace with whatever demons he was facing. you know his heart is a whole lot lighter now that it's not chained to avenging someone else's.
you can still read his face like the back of your hand. he wants you to continue. so you oblige, under the starry sky, the clear melody of the shamisen, over the joyful roar of pirates from all over the world, through the oranges of the paper lanterns and the green of the grass.
"it's been a while," you sigh.
"i know", he replies, crossing his arms.
to him, you look like a dream. like you always have. not the most elegant or stunning one in the room, but you radiate comfort. like you genuinely care, like if he went on a tangent about the pulmonary artery, you would try your best to listen. if anything, you look more confident within your own skin (if your previous confidence was lacking), but it's self-assured. after all these years, you still feel like home, despite being 2 feet away from him. you tug at his fucking heartstrings, even though anatomically, he has none.
"i missed you," you find yourself saying. it's desperate. it's too forward, too early. you've revealed your hand, placed all your cards on the table. he will no doubt take all your money and run away.
luckily, law is a rich man. he does no such thing.
"me too," his words being a bare whisper over the loud hum of the crowd, who have all melted into the background for you. his words, so low and subdued are just for you. only for your ears. it settles a stir in your heart, the whirlpool shrinking. little by little, until it is a swirl of water. (but it is still there, do not be mistaken.)
"how was your journey?"
"don't be fucking daft now, y/n. we've lost years, and you're going to go on with pleasantries?"
"well, time has passed. what do you suggest we do?"
so law does the only thing he knows to do - make up for it.
Tumblr media
he has his schedule cleared. you're the one who does it for him, in fact, and decide that there is no better way to show trafalgar law around new-and-improved wano than by doing it yourself. instead of spending all day hemming and hawing over tourist spots, you lead him through the vibrant streets and backalleys with one hand firmly through his.
the crew gives him hell for this every night, obviously, giggling and making jokes like preschoolers, but he can't help but let them when he sees the adorably flustered look you sport as he wishes you good-night outside your chambers.
it's nice being in love again. it's like meeting an old friend, except there's no awkwardness and he knows exactly where to pick up from. he's been doing better lately, but as he sailed all across the new world, thoughts of you swirled around his head, mimicking the wispy clouds in the sky of this country.
a summer island with pristine beaches and aquamarine waters - you would enjoy it here. a bar in a hidden corner of loguetown; he wishes you would come with him. a cave found in a godforsaken corner of sabaody with glittering stalagmites of mica; they glitter in a way that falls short to the sparkle of your eyes.
he missed you at sea. horribly so.
for you, it's like fitting the last tile into a mosaic. the feeling of guilt and exhaustion stops, the idea that you were running from love is no longer present. the wildfire that races across the boundaries of your heart - and spills over to the borders of the island - is extinguished.
you are at ease, more relaxed than you've ever been.
you love wano, you love seeing it's growth, the people, but it felt so small when you'd read the papers, reading all about the new pursuits and adventures of law in the new world. you'd have this feeling that you are but a tiny pinpoint on the map that he has spread out on his table everyday, just one in a mere one thousand of places to go to.
Tumblr media
there's an estate, just by the outskirts of the flower capital that is originally the shogun's, but has been lent to you indefinitely. it's vast, acres of woods, with a pond for koi and a small cottage surrounded by sakura trees.
you spend law's last two weeks in wano there. there's a question at the back of both of your heads, that you drown out in mornings of domesticity, afternoons of napping and evenings of drinking and chatting.
since you can't cook for shit, and have been blessed with a house full of servants to cook and clean for you as you work, you leisurely wake up in the mornings to see a breakfast for two set on the outside pavilion, with law fingering through some obscure medical book borrowed from the archives.
the morning sun warms your bones, and you pull your kimono closer at the chill in the air. approaching the table, you ruffle law's mussed-up bedhead, and he grabs your hand to deliver a soft kiss to your knuckles as he continues reading the text.
"ooh, taiyaki. thank you," you practically sing, doing a quick bow with your chopsticks and raising a surprisingly cute fish cake to your mouth.
"how is it?", he asks, placing a faded green bookmark into the book and snapping it shut. you give him a thumbs up with rosy cheeks and a full mouth, and it's satisfaction that crosses his face.
"i would have never expected you to cook," you giggle, reaching for another one as he simply hums in response.
"well, since bepo basically eats fish raw and the rest are good for nothing boozehounds, someone had to do the work on a submarine. thankfully, ikkaku managed to dig up an old cookbook from somewhere, and since then i've been doing this", he huffs, gazing off into the distance.
you can't help but chuckle at the mental image of a grumpy law cooking breakfast first thing in the morning on the polar tang for a crew of rascals.
"what're you thinking?"
"nothing. don't waste the food!"
"i'm the one who cooked it, woman?!"
Tumblr media
in the afternoons, it is you who works and law who dozes under the shade of an evergreen sakura blossom tree.
his head in your lap, he catches petals as they drift off into the wind, and there's a fairly reasonable sized pile in his palm right now as he squints up at the sun rays filtering through the blobs of varying shades of pink.
you, on the other hand, card one hand through his hair and intently study documents with the other. you hum a tune - a folk song about a woman searching for her samurai all across the land - and continue reading.
all is well, until your hand retracts from its rightful place in his hair to grasp at the newspaper and jot something down. he can't help but let out a grunt of annoyance.
"ssh, i'm trying to work," you swat absent-mindedly at his forehead, and he frowns. small furrows appear on his tan skin.
"you can work like this," he instructs, taking your wrist in one heavy, tattooed palm and setting it back on his head.
"i need to make notes," you beseech him, but his grip is vice-like, and you know when the odds are against you, so you resign yourself to a defeat.
"i can make notes for you," he smirks, motioning for the paper and notepad.
you, surprisingly, blush furiously and clutch both to your chest frantically. of course, that does not go unnoticed by your petty lover, who in quickly snatches them out of your looser grasp.
"this month's horoscope? really, y/n, you believe in that crap?", he snorts derisively.
"it's legit! madame ping from water 7 has really impacted my life, okay?", you try to weakly defend your guilty secret of noting down the horoscope every month to somehow ordain your future.
"water 7? not only is it baseless, you're listening to a marine?"
"see? this is why i didn't wanna show you," you wail, covering your face with your hands.
"hm, let's see what you've been noting," he says smugly. "libra: too many things on your mind can dampen passion, but your partner will have the solution!", he says in a high-pitched falsetto, to which you roll your eyes at.
"so, y/n, what solutions do you propose?", he asks, wiggling his eyebrows in a stupidly endearing gesture. you sigh. how infuriating this man is, how easily does he drive you crazy?
in one swift motion, you tilt your head downwards (he meets you halfway), to press your lips onto his, moving them languidly against his more chapped ones under the warmth of the golden afternoon sun.
the newspaper and notepad fall out of his grasp. an effective solution indeed.
Tumblr media
evenings are for gossip.
the sake flows freely, so do secrets that were sworn to never leave the halls of court. and law, is surprisingly, a massive gossip too. he devours every salacious piece of news with a politely curious "oh", or a backhanded comment about how he "knew it was going to happen", but as the moon two of you across the hours, he talks even more, often cutting you to deliver his own verdicts.
the cicadas strike up their orchestra as you and him sit by the edge of the koi pond, talking like old friends as the moonlight grew on ripples of water caused by the luminescent koi.
"oh god, hiyori refused to shut up when she heard that silly marimo was going to come," you giggle, a happy tinge of red coating your cheeks as you confide to law about hiyori's delight at the thought of meeting zoro again.
"hah, i knew it," law says with a small smile, pouring another glass of sake for himself. "zoro's not too unhappy about being here either."
"i hope not, otherwise i'll be dealing with a very sad princess when i go back to the capital," you chuckle cheerily. you instantly regret your words, attributed to your tipsy nature as law stares at you.
uncharacteristically for him, he too, had been avoiding talking about the "after." after he leaves, to go on to raftel and god valley, after you choose to stay back, the aftermath of you realising your love for each other - physically expressing it, even - but choosing to do so only once, and never again.
if law's learnt anything through the three weeks he's spent here, getting drunk, feasting, spending afternoons and mornings and nights with you, it's that it's not enough.
the time he spends with you, he feels, will never be enough. every day wiled away with you is a day well spent, well-earned for him. he wants this with you onboard the polar tang. he wants to cook breakfast for you, to kiss you good morning and good night, to have you hold him. he's far too tired of running away from love and far too old to find someone else, someone who will accept him and give him solace the way you do.
hell, he knows you better than you do. you like 300-count bedsheets, a special type of tea imported from dressrosa, sake from kuri, how he hugs you from the back (he's heard your heartbeat), when he kisses your hand, late night talking, and the fact of the matter is that he loves all of it, as he loves all of you.
so he says it.
"i don't know where we're going to go after the last few islands. i don't have any agenda of going anywhere, so," he clears his throat, feeling the burn of your curious eyes on his.
"what do you say of coming with me? we could go anywhere you want."
the smile you give him is so sweet, so calm, like you've been waiting for this all of your life (in a way, you have.) like you've been waiting for him all your life. and now he's here, holding his hand out for you before he's swept away by the current.
you take it.
"let's start with the north blue. take me to your home."

[Read on my blog for the best viewing experience with Oi~ssu ♪]
Location: Reverse Live Stage
Ibara: May I have this seat?
Eichi: Certainly. I’ve been expecting you, Saegusa-kun.
Nagisa: …Howdy, Eichi-kun.
Eichi: Now you’re greeting me with “howdy”? You’re certainly always full of surprises, Nagisa-kun.
In fact, I didn’t even expect you to come. You never deign to come to places that don’t interest you, no matter how much others may try to convince you.
Nagisa: …That’s not entirely the case these days.
…Even without hunting for ruins, there is something new to discover everywhere.
Eichi: Well, didn't Tsumugi and I tell you that over and over in fine?
Why are you repeating that to me as though it’s a new great truth you discovered?
You’re impressive, Saegusa-kun… How did you ever make this tough nut listen to you?
Ibara: Heh-heh. That is a trade secret, I’m afraid ♪
That aside, it has become a custom that whenever Eve is busy with a special job, we Adam work double in their place —
Nagisa: …Yes. Usually, we’re the ones working behind the scenes while Eve gathers the attention of the public.
…But that’s why this time we’re doing things for Eve instead, to reward them for their hardships.
Ibara: Indeed. Of course, the one working was me, while His Excellency was off freely exploring excavation sites as always, but… Let us leave that aside.
As we’re pressed for time, I was hoping we could settle our business shortly, you understand?
Eichi: I do indeed. I’m in the same position, you see — I’ve been running around left and right every day so that I may proceed with my post-graduation plans…
There's so much to be done that I’m even sacrificing sleep, despite knowing it’s not good for my health.
Ibara: Oh my, that’s rather worrying! Do be sure to take utmost care of yourself, yes? Very well, then; let this humble Saegusa Ibara offer you his services!
If you would kindly leave your “grand plan” completely in my hands, I assure you that I will have everything in order, exactly as you wish!
You mustn’t overexert yourself, Your Grace! Please, prioritize your own health!
Tumblr media
Eichi: Won’t you stop calling me “Your Grace”? What do you think I am?
Nagisa: …Fufu. If I’m His Excellency, Hiyori-kun is His Highness, and Eichi-kun is His Grace, then what’d you be, Tsumugi-kun?
Tsumugi: Woah, please don’t suddenly drag me into the conversation.
Umm… if we follow that naming pattern… then maybe something like His Followership?
Eichi: Won’t you be quiet, Tsumugi? We’re in the middle of an important discussion.
Tsumugi: (sighs) My seat just happens to be near you… I wasn’t planning on interfering.
I understand that we can’t decrease the number of audience seats, but the staff seating area is pretty cramped, isn’t it?
Eichi: Ah, you’re part of the Reverse Live staff, aren't you? Fate can be so strange. It feels almost as though we’re holding a reunion or something.
Nagisa: …Fufu. Maybe we can call Hiyori-kun over too, once Lilith’s done with their performance.
Tsumugi: Wow, it’ll be just like the old times!
Fine went through quite a few member changes, but the four of us used to be called the eternal top four… How nostalgic ♪
Ibara: Pardon me for interrupting your pleasant trip down memory lane!
However, as it is not what we are here for, I would most certainly appreciate it if you would kindly refrain from private conversation!
Eichi: Right, let’s get down to the important matters. The future of the idol industry depends on the result of this match… We shouldn’t be taking it so easy.
Tumblr media
Tsumugi: Huh… W-What do you mean by that? Are you scheming something again, Eichi-kun?
Eichi: If by again, you’re referring to our past subjugation of the Five Eccentrics, then may I remind you that you had a hand in it with me?
That aside, I’m no longer who I once was… I won’t be rash this time; I’ll work to my best ability so as to not lose my grip on that which matters most to me.
Tsumugi: Er… I’m not sure I understand, but if this is so important, is it really okay for you to have your discussion in a place like this?
Eichi: Honestly, you can count on having more secrecy in a busy place like this over a typical conference room.
Our discussion will have to adjust to the changes of the situation too, so we can’t take our eyes off the stage.
Ibara: Indeed. Here, we are at the very front lines themselves.
…Now, then. Shall we hear your honest thoughts to begin with, Your Grace?
Eichi: Fufu. Trying to take control over the course of the discussion? How cute…
I decided to take a chance with your plan as I took pity on you, for having to recover CosPro from its recent misdeeds despite being so young…
But I must say, I have to give you full marks for persuading Hidaka Seiya.
Having him makes the going incredulously smooth — In fact, it made me question what all my struggles were for. He's doing a fine job in propelling the adults to move.
The Yumenosaki executive board, the renewed CosPro top brass… All the agencies and training schools across the country, even active and retired idols…
Not one of these adults can disregard Hidaka Seiya: a former Super Idol with an active position in the industry.
You’ve made the right move of including him in our plan. …Even if I can’t help feeling sorry for Hokuto, who’s been trapped with no choice but to confront his parental issues.
Well, I suppose it’s a necessary step. The same goes for us, as well… We adolescents can’t look away from our relations with adults, just as children with their parents.
Or more precisely, we mustn’t. After all, it is essentially to the adults that this world belongs.
