Jesus said:
‘I tell you most solemnly, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold through the gate, but gets in some other way is a thief and a brigand. The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the flock; the gatekeeper lets him in, the sheep hear his voice, one by one he calls his own sheep and leads them out. When he has brought out his flock, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow because they know his voice. They never follow a stranger but run away from him: they do not recognise the voice of strangers.’
Jesus told them this parable but they failed to understand what he meant by telling it to them.
So Jesus spoke to them again:
‘I tell you most solemnly, I am the gate of the sheepfold. All others who have come are thieves and brigands; but the sheep took no notice of them. I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe: he will go freely in and out and be sure of finding pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.’

"He will protect His flock like a shepherd, He will gather the lambs in His arm, He will carry them in His bosom; He will gently and carefully lead those nursing their young." ーIsaiah 40:11 AMP ~ I decided to read the Bible last year (2021) from beginning to end. Not gonna lie, it was a hard, an on and off situation. There are tons of temptations. But I bet I would've finished it already if I wasn't lazy 😂😂 That's what the devil does, he doesn't want us to have an intimate relationship with our Maker, but he will never win.
I've always wanted to paint pictures inspired by the Holy Scriptures. And as I was searching for a verse that I had in mind for this piece, suddenly, I stumbled upon this lovely and comforting verse. Supposed to be the chapter that I'm gonna read tonight, yet I got spoiled. But would you look at that? HalleluYah! 🙏🙌 It may be a coincidence, but I don't know. It feels like it's meant to be.
Blessings to you today!

#DailyDevotion God's Choice Determines Through Whom The Blessing Comes

#DailyDevotion God's Choice Determines Through Whom The Blessing Comes Psalm 78 5Then the Lord awoke like one who had been sleeping, like a strong man shouting from wine. 66He beat His enemies back and disgraced them forever. 67He rejected Joseph's tents, and didn't choose the tribe of Ephraim. 68He chose rather the tribe of Judah and Mount Zion that He loved. The LORD in time finally had enlarged Israel enough to take care of the wild animals on their own. Starting with Saul and completing it with David, He begins His campaign to totally rid the land of pagans who worship other gods. The LORD, especially through His servant David, beat back His enemies and disgraced them so they would know the LORD is one and only true God. Strangely, He rejected the tents of Joseph and the tribe of Ephraim. Why is this strange? If you hearken back to Genesis, Joseph would be the son of Jacob who receives the blessing instead of Reuben who was the oldest of the twelve. But it is God's choice, as you remember Jacob was the younger of the two twins and he received the blessing. Ephraim is mentioned because Jacob did not bless Joseph directly but blessed his first two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, and again, God's choice, Ephraim the younger received the greater blessing. While Ephraim would become the greater in terms of wealth and numbers, God chose Judah from whom the rulers of Israel would have its kings. God chose the tribe of Judah and Mt. Zion where He would build His temple and for Israel to come and worship Him. In Judah, the LORD would choose David, the youngest of his brothers, through whom He would become incarnate and save the world. 69He built His sanctuary like the high heavens and founded it forever like the earth. 70He chose His servant David and took him from the sheepfolds. 71From tending the sheep nursing their young, He brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, His people, and Israel, His possession. 72So he shepherds them with a pure heart and leads them with skillful hands. Yes, it would be His servant David whom He took from tending the flocks to tend His people. He tended over His people Israel with a pure hear and led them with skillful hands. David would be the type who is fulfilled in Jesus. Jesus would be and is our Good Shepherd. He has the pure heart that leads His holy Church. Jesus as our Good Shepherd lays down His life for us His sheep and indeed for all people everywhere, of every language, people, tribe and nation. He gives us His Holy Spirit so we may have faith in Him and trust our Father in heaven for every good thing. The Holy Spirit reminds us of Jesus' teaching and leads us throughout our days. He preserves for Jesus a holy people and brings them into the Promised Land, the New Heavens and New Earth, where righteousness reigns. Jesus as the New David, will expunge from the earth all the pagans of the world and all the unfaithful of the Church so we may live in peace in that place and no longer be troubled by them ever again. Heavenly Father, grant us faith in You Son, Jesus Christ, to be our New David, who conquers all Your foes who will not trust in You, so we may inherit the earth at His second advent and live and reign with Him forever. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Read the full article

🛑Ik this a lot but PLZ READ ALL 🙏🏿 🛑 David here is expressing his confidence in God, that God’s positioning & God’s character will remain constant for the rest of his days. It’s not hard to imagine why. God has a great track record. A perfect one in fact. In this psalm, David portrays God as a GOOD Shepherd Who not only cares for His flock as a whole but also cares for each INDIVIDUAL sheep such as David himself. David is rejoicing in the fact that he will LIVE with GOD FOREVER & that he’ll be in proximity to God FOREVER! I am encouraged by this because I too, am a sheep, brought into God’s flock by Jesus Christ. I, too, am individually cared for & am in close proximity to God. Being reminded of this makes me want to praise God MORE & worship Him all throughout the day! I am forever grateful that I am protected by Him even in valleys of death & even on mountains of high stress. And even when I go astray He will find me & bring me back to His flock. He doesn’t think “good riddance” or “wow, really?” in disgust. He will pursue me as He pursues every sheep to protect them & bring them home where they’re safe & Loved. I pray I remember this as I interact with other humans like you, fellow reader. You are a sheep that’s precious in God’s eyes. Circumstances may say otherwise but He’s got a plan for you that will bring you to fields beyond your wildest dreams. My prayer is that this scripture comforts you & reminds/reveals to you of an Amazing God Who loves ALL of His Sheep & WILL PROTECT THEM NO MATTER WHAT IN JESUS NAME! #goodshepherd #jesus #god #love #goodness #mercy #givethanks #peace #iloveyouall https://www.instagram.com/p/ClT-z8IuGqZ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Jesus, true Shepherd
The Fourth Sunday of Easter is often called “Good Shepherd Sunday” because no matter what reading cycle we are in, the Gospel always focusses on the image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
This year, the Gospel reading talks about Jesus as a true shepherd prepared to lay down his life for his sheep. He is not like the hired man who runs away when danger appears. He knows his sheep and one day will gather them all into one flock.
Jesus acts towards us like a good shepherd: feeding, nurturing, defending and even laying down his life for us. Our Good Shepherd is deeply concerned about us, the flock and there is a deep sense of warmth and intimacy in the realisation that Jesus knows each one of us by name. Like a good shepherd Jesus is the source of life, nourishment, and safety for the sheep.
Any reflection about Jesus as the Good Shepherd also serves as a reminder that shepherding each other in Jesus’ name is part of the vocation of every disciple. We are very used to thinking about Jesus as the Good Shepherd, but we also need to think about being/becoming good shepherds to each other.
One of the very encouraging things about the pandemic was the number of people who became good shepherds to others, providing safety and security to vulnerable people, supporting health workers, providing meals and companionship.
That is what it means to lay down our lives for each other.
Prayers of Intercession
Lord, help us tend the world with love. Give us the courage to make you present.
Keep us strong in faith, hope and love, so that your love continues to touch and heal our world.
We pray for all those mourning loved ones: bring them comfort and peace.
Give us a deep sense of your presence. May we be good shepherds to one another.

#DailyDevotion Jesus Is The LORD My Shepherd
Tumblr media
#DailyDevotion Jesus Is The LORD My Shepherd Psalm 23 The LORD is my Shepherd — In the previous psalm we saw the fulfillment of Zech. 13, “7Awake, sword, against My Shepherd, against the Man Who is close to Me!...Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.” But now in this psalm we are directed towards Ezekiel 34 where the LORD says, “11“The Lord GOD says this: Look! I, even I, will search for My sheep and look after them. 12As a shepherd looks after his flock when they are scattered around him, so I will take care of My flock and rescue them from every place where they may be scattered on cloudy and gloomy days.” Again in the same chapter it is written, “23“ 'I will raise up one Shepherd over them, My Servant David, Who will feed them. He will feed them and be their Shepherd. 24I the LORD will be their God, and My Servant David will be the Ruler among them. I the LORD say so.” Jesus tells us in John 10, “11I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” Jesus is the Shepherd who is struck down. Jesus is the LORD who is the Shepherd of His people. I have everything I need. 2He makes me lie down in fresh green pastures and leads me to water where I can rest. Jesus is the LORD's servant David. He has us lie down in the green pastures of His Word and gives us water, i.e. the Holy Spirit. He feeds us with His Gospel, the good news of the free gift, forgiveness of sins. He feeds us with His promises of eternal life, the resurrection from the dead and the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus feeds us with His body and blood so we may have the certainty of these seals that we are saved. They assure us we are participants in His New Covenant where He promises us to forgive us our sins and remember them no more. The give us the certainty that He is our God and we are His people. Jesus baptizes us with water and the Word, there joining us to His life, death and resurrection, giving us the Holy Spirit who teaches our hearts everything we need to know, name Jesus is the LORD. 3He restores my life. He leads me on paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Isaiah 40 writes, “11Like a shepherd He takes care of His flock; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them at His bosom. He gently helps the mother sheep.” So Jesus our Good Shepherd takes care of us. He restores our lives through the word and the sacraments. He gently helps the mother sheep, i.e. the Church to provide and take care of the sheep. He takes us from eternal death and gives us eternal life instead. Jesus through the Word leads us on the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. The path of righteousness is faith in Him first and foremost. Then by and through the gift of the Holy Spirit He lives His life through us. He makes manifest in our lives the Sermon on the Mount so we become those who are blessed. He changes our hearts, minds, affections and the like so the rest of the sermon becomes manifest in our thinking, speaking and acting. So we become merciful to those who need mercy. We forgive those who sin against us. We pray for and love our enemies and do good to them. This is what God our Father has done for us in Christ Jesus. As we have fellowship with Him through the Spirit, His life and His will becomes one with outs. Heavenly Father, we thank You for sending Jesus, You Son, to be the Shepherd of our souls. We pray that as we put our faith in Him, we may be comforted by Him and be led on the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Read the full article
