Harriet Walter on the Caroline-Logan divorce and the impact of Caroline being pushed out of the family (with bonus mentions of Connor, golden trio age gaps, and how the Caroline-Logan custody battle might have mirrored Kendall’s threat to Rava right before the funeral).

“First of all, if you look at the age range of the characters, I must have been a sort of stepmother to Connor. He must have been pretty young. And then there were the three children that were my natural children with Logan. Now, whatever their age span is, 5 years, 6 years, that’s how long plus I must have been living with them. But if you also look at their age range now, that’s how long I haven’t been with them. . . . They’ve grown up without me. It’s open – it was always open as to whether I’d left them or I’d been thrown out or what the situation was. . . . My take on it is that for whatever reasons Logan and I split up - he had affairs, I had affairs – whatever it was, we decided to split. But I would have come off worst. I would have got lots of money and a seat at the table, but I wouldn’t have got the children. And I think that explains something of her toughness and hardness and coolness and remoteness. Harriet Walter on Caroline’s relationship with Kendall and in particular some of the past dynamics that are driving her conversation (or lack thereof) with Kendall in Season 2.

“Kendall’s quite a sort of complicated guy. There was a scene that didn’t get into the final cut in Season 1 where we had a little duo scene where it’s very evident that Kendall has a lot of anger towards his mother. And sort of as the oldest son blames her for a lot of – you know maybe he got the brunt of the divorce because he was the most aware of what was going on. . . . Here’s this guy who has been pretty angry with me in the past. And I think she says something like ‘Have you got over your – is it something you're gonna blame me for again?’ So that’s what she immediately assumes when he says ‘Can we talk?’ she thinks she’s gonna be in for a bit of blame and a bit of reckoning that she can’t quite face.”

The deleted Season 1 scene she references is included below the cut.

Harriet Walter has mentioned a few times that she thinks Caroline was "kicked out" of the family, probably for having an affair and getting caught. I can definitely see Kendall knowing more of the details than Shiv and Roman both by virtue of age and his relationship with Logan (and being pulled pretty hard into Logan's point of view).

The Gift beyond the Consideration!

Robert Licuria's upcoming interview with SH for GoldDerby (Australia) will be published this week. It's interesting to note that STARZ had previously sent a bottle of Gin as a gift to Licuria for his consideration, now SH is autographing his own Sassenach Gin. However, upon closer inspection of the bottle, one may notice that there are other interests in the label of the bottle of Gin beyond just promoting SH’s alcohol.🍸

What is the connection between Sassenach Gin and STARZ? Is SH's alcohol business related to the actor's contract? 🤔

@imahalfemptykindofgirl IMO, it seems that SH’s success heavily relies on the STARZ brand (not only as a TV actor but also in his business) I remember last year STARZ’s party at Verōnika in New York for season 7, there was plenty of SH-branded booze available, the same at STARZ’s party in Platform-Glasgow. Since the show doesn't feature gin, it's likely that the merchandise is arranged separately and that SH is paid. This is always a combination that falls short and doesn't support the actor's creativity.

Getting paid extra for merchandise arrangements rather than being paid just for his acting role does not seem to help the actor showcase his acting abilities. If he really has those skills 🤔
