Summary: Sarah kerrigan in the MHA world, mostly sticking to the Canon storyline, but might change up some events as things go on. Be aware of some OOC on these characters compared to their Canon counterparts and changes to how the zerg swarm functions to fit better with quirks.
Chapter 1 under the cut
Dehaka Kerrigan sits up in bed with his wife Izsha, their daughter Sarah sleeping in her bed in the next room, his phone to his ear as his old friend Toto yaoyorozu suggests a move to Japan. Dehaka is large, standing at 6'7" and a veritable wall of muscle, short gray hair trimmed growing out of his flat top cut into a shaggier style as it grows over chitinous plates along the ridge of his head, his chest glowing a soft amber as his double diaphragm expands for a sigh, his friend rambling on.
His wife Izsha lies nearby, reading on her tablet as she thinks over plans for a weekend trip, skimming Dehaka's low level thoughts for the name of the Gelato place nearby. Her dark brown tentacles mimic a dreadlock style haircut. She tunes back into Dehaka's conversation after a few minutes. Her long spine tail rests on the bed again as she rolls over to look at him, her tablet set on the nightstand nearby.
"Home security? Are you sure you're not just trying to bring me out of retirement?" Dehaka sighed as a barking laugh came across the phone line. Dehaka sighs as he rolls over and looks at his wife Izsha before throwing his cell phone into the center of the bed between them at her raised eyebrow.
"Alright Toto, you're on speaker for Izsha, convince her and we might, might, come to Japan & work for you." Dehaka lays over, resting his head on his arm as Toto starts again.
"It's simple, I'm retiring from weapons & defense contracts with the DoD. And I want my friend who also is retired along with his wife & lovely newborn to come back to Japan with me. I'll still need a security team & I trust you two, plus little Sarah's the same age as Momo, they'd be great friends."
Izsha's eyebrow goes down as he speaks, her thoughts turning to her little one, Sarah just turned three and already her quirk traits are coming in, mutant/emitter quirks like theirs always begin showing signs early. She looks over at her husband, catching his eye and skimming his surface thoughts. He sends over a wave of positive emotion along with feelings of support and the statement. "If you want this, my love."
A soft smile rests on her lips as she replies to Toto. "You've got a deal, but we're going to set up a team to help with the security, you're a billionaire in the states and you're going to set us up with a guest house on the property. I want to make sure Sarah's got room to grow, just like Momo will." There's a hint of playful teasing in her tone, she knows Toto would take care of them and also knows that his wife will hold him to his kids, heavens knows momo's barely talking and she's already wrapped Toto around her finger.
"Great!" He pauses a second and turns away from the phone for a moment. "Ah, that's Momo waking from her nap, We'll hammer out the final details later. Have a good night you two!" He hangs up with a click, cutting off the muffled steps as he rushes from his office.
"Off to Japan then soon huh." Dehaka sighs and looks at his wife, a teasing smile playing on his lips. "Think he'll survive her 'terrible twos'?"
Izsha barks a laugh, breaking her persona as she falls back to the bed. "Thank goodness Sarah's always so tuckered out with her mutations coming in, I think I saw wings poking out of her shoulders."
"We'll just have to see what the setup is like in Japan when we get there, thanks for agreeing dear. I wouldn't force us over there, but if I'm honest I'll be glad to have something to do. They don't tell you how boring retirement is." He sighs and runs his hand along his hair.
Izsha laughs softly at him, patting his arm as she does. "Rest up then big guy, how about we take Sarah out tomorrow to the park, you could invite Toto along with Verity and Momo, I was thinking we hit that Gelato place nearby and the kids can goof off while we hash out those details."
He smiles as they both lay down for bed. "Sounds good dear, I'll text him in the morning. G'night my love."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, after meeting up with the Yaoyorozus, they sit down at a park table to chit-chat while their daughters munch through their scoops of Gelato. Sarah looks over at Momo's bowl of pink-ish Gelato. "Hey Momo, what'd you get? I got Raspberry Cheesecake."
Momo looks up, twisting her spoon in her bowl. "Oh cool! I got black raspberry chocolate chip." She sends a toothy smile over at her new friend, before her brow scrunches up in confusion. "Hey Sarah, what's with those nubs in your hair?"
Sarah lights up as she puts her bowl down, pulling her hair aside so Momo can see them better. "I'm getting m' hair tentacles like momma has, she said it's 'cuz my quirk is going to be similar to mommas and daddies. I'm gonna have mutant and emitter parts to my quirk probably."
Izsha leans over to her daughter. "Sweetie, eat your snack before it all melts, you two can talk quirks in a bit." A soft smile and a light poke in her daughter's shoulder nudges her back into munching on her snack. "You too Momo."
As the kids finish their snacks they run off to go play, letting the adults hash out the final details of their move. Planning out the large estate they'll be using and choosing preliminary candidates for some of the support staff they're planning to bring with them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Snacks finished, Momo and Sarah make their way over to the playground both climbing up to the top level of the jungle gym before sitting in the shade. Sarah asks. "Momo, do you know what your quirk is gonna be?"
Momo smiles, always excited to talk about quirks. "I'm not sure yet, but momma has a creation quirk lets her turn her stamina into metal bars, as long as she knows the metal. And daddy's quirk rearranges materials as long as he knows what they're made of at the." She paused, thinking of the word for those really really small things. "Atoms! Daddie called them atoms and they make up everything. They're hoping I get a mix of the two, what about you?"
Sarah is bouncing in place as Momo explains. "Those are so cool! Dad's quirk lets him make different creatures based on what he eats & gives him some of his creature-like features. Mom can read minds and send thoughts and can kinda ....nudge people to do what she wants, it apparently doesn't always work, but she also has her cool hair and tail. Oh oh! And check this out!" She spins around and points at her upper back, two little nubs poking up under her shirt. "Mom says I'm growing wings, apparently her sister has wings but she got the tail and I might get both!"
Momo looks at the bumps on her back, her hand resting a few inches above her back. "C-can I touch them?"
Sarah nods lightly. "Yeah, just be gentle, they're pretty tender still, apparently they'll get really tough once they come in fully." Momo's hand slowly lowers and runs along the bumps on Sarah's back. "These are really cool Sarah, you're going to look so cool once they come in."
They talk for a while about recent hero debuts they saw on TV, how they both want to be heroes when they're older and guesses at what their parents are talking about. Sarah thinks it's an amusement park trip while momo thinks it's for a business meeting.
Eventually they get a gentle mental nudge from Izsha to make their way back to the table. "Kids, come on back, we're getting ready to leave." Sarah jumps up from their game and grabs Momo's hand to lightly drag her back to their parents.
Verity pats Toto on the shoulder, grabbing his attention away from the story he's telling Dehaka as their kid's run up to them. "Kids, come sit, we've got something to talk to you about."
Verity let's Toto take over the conversation. A nod from Dehaka and Izsha as he addresses both children. "Kids, we're thinking of moving our family to Japan, I've got a big property there we're going to move into and it'll be good for some of our businesses there, and when you're older UA will be a great school for you to learn at." Izsha pipes in as Sarah's face falls and her thoughts turn towards losing her friend. "Sarah, there's no need to be sad honey, we're going with them. Toto and Verity are going to set us up as his primary security consultants and you and Momo will be sharing tutors."
Sarah lights up at her mom. "Really? Awesome!" She turns to Momo. "We're gonna be the best heroes in Japan! Just like all might!"
A smile rises to Momo's face as well, her excitement shining through as she dives Sarah in a hug. "Yay! We're gonna be the best heroes ever!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The move to Japan went quickly and before they knew it they were settling into their new homes on the grand Yaoyorozu estate, the Kerrigan family settling into their home on the grounds, a spacious 4 bed 3 bath with a reinforced garage area that had been converted to a quirk training gym for Sarah, a guest bedroom set up for nights when Momo might want to stay over when she's older, and a spacious kitchen for Dehaka, with a spacious bath area for Izsha and a hot tub set up like an onsen spring.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following April brings Sarah to her 4th birthday, and as her quirk has finished coming in with her mutations finishing their growth. She now sports a full head of dark brown tentacle-esque hair, bone wings sprouting from her upper back and a tail extending from her lower back, her torso, and limbs are covered in a layer of chitinous plating.
With a fun celebration with Momo and her family, a massive cake, and promising Momo to show off her quirk once it's fully manifested to Momo, Sarah gets ready for bed as everyone heads home for the night.
The next morning Sarah wakes up to a weight in her bed as she looks over to see a large dog….bug creature in her bed. She doesn't feel any hostility coming from it but was still shocked by its appearance in her bed and screamed. And it screamed as she accidentally pushed waves of fear into it. Loud thumping echoes down the hall for a moment until her door is slammed open with her parents rushing inside the room. "Sarah, what's going on?!"
Sarah leaps out of bed and dives behind her dad as they turn to the large dog-bug. A few seconds goes by before Dehaka bursts out laughing, Izsha stifling giggles as she bends down to Sarah's height. "Honey, it looks like this is your quirk. Your father has a similar creature like this that he calls a swarmling. But yours looks a bit different than his, so it might be a different type of creature." She goes to give it's surface level thoughts a listen as her husband calms down and scoops up his daughter in a hug.
"Look Sarah, it's got wings like you do, it's so adorable. Babies first Ling, awww." As he coos over his daughter and her quirk his wife softly pats his arm, grabbing both his and Sarah's attention. "Hey honey, try telling it to do something with your mind. Like… 'go to the kitchen.' Try thinking that and 'pushing' the thought to your creature."
Sarah nods. "Okay momma." She pushes that thought towards her creature, scrunching her face up in concentration before she feels the thought 'click' into place, and opens her eyes at her dad's gasp to see her creature hop off her bed and start making its way out of the room. "It did it! Wow! Momma, Daddy look!"
They both beam at their daughter, Dehaka's booming laugh returning as he raises his daughter up. "Sweetie this is fantastic! You got a combination of both of our quirks! We can look into this later today when we call in the estate's quirk doctor. Why don't we go to the kitchen and I'll get started on breakfast for us and you can start thinking of names for your creature."
As Izsha grabs the phone to call the quirk doctor and Dehaka gets started on a pan of scrambled eggs, Sarah makes her way to the kitchen nook where she sent her creature to she starts brainstorming ideas for names. "Hey Dad, why did you call yours swarmlings?" Dehaka swirls the eggs as he mulls over her question before responding.
"When I first summoned them, I ended up with like 6 of them really quick, and they were all small like baby ducks, and my cousin who was staying with us at the time had this fascination with this old tabletop game that had minions called hirelings, and my mom said they were swarming her since they were all nibbling at her ankles. I was young and couldn't stop laughing at the idea of a big pack of them swarming villains, eventually my mom convinced me to combine the name swarm and the suffix for those hired minions, so my swarmlings were born!" He gestures wildly with the spatula as he scrambles the eggs up for everyone, sprinkling some salt and pepper in the pan, mulling over ideas for his daughter's creature. "Say, what about looking through your dinosaur book for ideas, I did the same for some of my other creatures when I was younger, that's kinda how I got the idea for my roaches."
"Oh! Great idea dad, let me go get it!" She runs off to her room and grabs her book off the shelf, flipping quickly through the picture books pages before finding one that she think fits as her creature comes running back into the room and jumps onto her bed. As she commands it to stay put and lay down, she goes back to the kitchen to inform her dad of her idea. "How does Raptorling sound? It's like these raptors in the book with how it jumps and I can keep the Ling part of the name like yours."
Dehaka's heart almost cannot take how much he loves his daughter in this moment, quickly taking the eggs off the heat and shutting off the burner he scoops Sarah up again in a big hug. "I love you dear, that's such a great name." Izsha puts the phone down, joining the family hug as she pats her daughter's head softly. "We're raising such a good girl." They let the hug go on a few moments longer before Dehaka breaks them up, setting Sarah down at the kitchen nook table. "We should eat before the eggs get cold, I'll set a small bowl aside for your raptorling and we'll wait on the doc to come see what else is going on with your quirk, sound good?"
Sarah nods and grabs her chopsticks, intent on getting some practice using them during breakfast, even if it's a more American breakfast.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few hours later and the quirk doctor comes in, a young man with spiked dark brown hair, yellow tinted blue light blocking glasses and a Hawaiian shirt under his lab coat, Dr Egon Stetman
Izsha greets him at the door and invites him into the gym for the exam since it gives Sarah space to work with her quirk. "This way Egon, it's good to see you again, how's your mechanical engineering degree coming along?"
"Well ma'am, I'm slated to finish my masters this year." He sets down his briefcase as Dehaka leads Sarah into the gym. "You must be the young Ms. Kerrigan, it's nice to meet you, my name is Egon and I'll be running a few examinations for you today so we can classify your quirk together."
Sarah twiddle her fingers before reaching out to shake his hand. "Hello Mr. Egon, it's nice to meet you, thank you for helping with my quirk today."
"Absolutely, I will say your family has some of the most complex mutation emitter quirks I've ever seen, and I'm excited to help you figure yours out."
They run through several tests including wing and tail flexibility and range of motion, as well as figuring out the trigger to summon more creatures with Dehaka's help. After Sarah summons a second Raptorling she notes some fatigue to Egon and then brings her first Raptorling into the gym so they can figure out the extent of her control. About two hours of different tests later and Egon claps his hands and asks Sarah to sit down on the nearby Bench press so he can compile the Data together.
"Well Mr and Mrs Kerrigan, Sarah, it looks like your quirk is extremely impressive. So far it looks like your quirk is a great mix of both of your parents. You can summon and control units that can evolve based on what you eat and summoning new creatures will make you hungry since it will use up your lipid stores similar to the young Miss. Yaoyorozu. It also looks like you might get your mom's telepathic communication in nearby areas, but you won't be able to make mental suggestions like your mom can and you're limited to only controlling your summoned creatures and talking with people."
"Oh wow! That's so cool! Me and Momo are gonna be the best heroes, and we'll have our own sidekicks from my quirk. I'm gonna have to try so many different foods to make new creatures!" She turns to Dehaka. "Dad, can I borrow your creature journal later?" He smiles at her softly as he directs her attention back to Egon. "Honey, maybe later, do you have any other questions for the Doctor?"
Sarah blushes as she looks back at the Doctor. "I think I only have one. Do you know how many creatures I can control?"
"Based on how many your Dad here could control at your age, you can probably get around three right now, but I would expect that to be around ten by the time you reach the age to go to UA, and maybe up to twenty by the time you're a fully licensed hero." He double checks his notes. "Oh, and don't worry if your creatures die, they'll be stored as part of your quirk to be resummoned later and their.. uh, corpse, will dissolve into dust after a few minutes." He quickly shuffles his papers back into order and pulls his pen back out. "Last order of business for your quirk, what do you want to call it?"
Her brow scrunches as she thinks over her options, after a few moments she says. "I wanna call it Swarm Control, since I can create my creatures and control them, but also because it hides the benefits from my mutations and what my creatures can do. Heroes don't always need to say everything their quirk does, like Endeavor's hellflame or all might's quirk, we don't even know what it's called!"
Egon writes down her answer. "That's a smart way of thinking about that little lady, you're going to be a great hero some day."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few weeks later at dinner finds Sarah trying out a bunch of different foods as her Dad explains what some of the creatures he uses come from in a meal, like how he made the roaches by eating avocados and oranges, since they spit an acidic slime and are tough like an avocado pit.
"Now Sarah, do keep in mind these are my quirks creatures so yours may have different summoning characteristics." He chuckles softly. "Though your 'lings might still have the lemon juice allergy."
Sarah looks puzzled for a moment before accepting it and chewing on the bite of steak on her plate. "How do you know what food makes what creature?"
"Try thinking about summoning another creature, but don't push too hard on the thought with your quirk, rest just before you summon it."
Her brow furrows as she focuses. "Okay, I think I've got it."
"Good, now try thinking of your raptorling but don't summon it yet, you might feel something like a web, try drawing your thoughts through the web and pull them into shape."
As she mentally digs through the web of different creatures and essences, a sickly green and yellow web spins together in her palms, a small spined worm twitching in the ball of essence as she manipulates the web. Slowly it takes shape into a longer worm, two sets of wings growing from its back as she finishes adjusting the essences. Her brow furrows tighter as she concentrates. "I can't summon this one yet, it feels heavy.
“That would be you hitting your maximum creatures, I felt the same way when I was younger. Don't push past that for now, but you’ll be able to stress that later and increase the number of creatures you can summon.”
Sarah nods, before making a quick scribble in her notebook with her dad's help. "I have one last idea I want to try before we're done for the night dad." She furrows her brow in concentration again while mumbling her idea to her father. "What about making a smaller creature that can turn into other creatures?"
Dehaka's eyes go wide as she says this, years of creature combinations on missions and experiences with his quirk dwarfed by this idea of his daughter's. "Honey you're a little genius!" He whispers so that he doesn't break her concentration.
Sarah fiddles with different strands and essences as she slowly shapes the creature, it feels impossibly light on her supply, almost like it's not even there at all but with boundless room to grow and change. "I…I think I've got it." She summons two of them and hands one to her father.
Accepting the large worm with both hands, he inspects it and finds its about half a meter long with hard carapace and two small pincers on the front and three sections as it wiggles around in his grasp. "It's cute, what are you going to call it?"
"I'm thinking larva, since that's what other stuff comes from right?"
"That's a great name hon, why don't we stop here for the night and we can pick this up tomorrow?"
Sarah nods, exhausted as her shoulders slump. "Sure dad, I'll go do my teeth and then I'm heading to bed, thanks for testing this with me!"
Dehaka smiles at his daughter's retreating form. "Love you Sarah, sleep well!"
Sarah throws a hand over her shoulder and waves. "Love you too Dad." She shouts toward the living room where Izsha is reading a book on the couch. "Love you good night mom!" And makes her way to her bathroom and off to bed.

Chapter 4 go brrr
Robots vs the swarm
Entrance exam Shenanigans, little bit of an exposition dump from Nezu and a bit of the green bean with some minor changes this time around since we have new people in the exams
Tags: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Dehaka/Izsha, Sarah Kerrigan, Yaoyorozu Momo Yaoyorozu, Momo's Parents, Dehaka (StarCraft), Izsha (StarCraft), Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Crossover, starcraft elements in mha, changes to how the swarm works as a quirk, Quirk Shenanigans (My Hero Academia), Yaoyorozu Momo is a Good Friend, Ghost (Starcraft) Momo Yaoyorozu, Queen of Blades - Freeform
Sarah sighs as she walks towards the UA building alone, making her way towards the check in desk as she watches an aggressive blonde with short spiky hair shoulder his way past a shorter but heavily muscled green haired man who nearly trips as he walks onto the UA campus. Before the man can fall over he starts floating forward and scrambling as a brown haired girl helps him right his stance.
Sarah passes the two and enters the UA building proper and makes her way towards the check in desk. As she approaches a desk where Power Loader and Midnight are checking in students, Adjutant's voice comes across the speakers nearby, startling several applicants.
"Alert! Class 12 psionic waveform detected. The Queen of Blades is inbound."
Sarah shakes her head and greets Midnight and Power Loader. "I take it Melissa has already checked in then? She's the only one who would make that reference for me."
Midnight laughs as Power Loader stares into the distance before responding. "She's a menace and I have another one this year too." He puts his head in his hands as Midnight laughs again at his pain. After a few moments of searching Sarah is presented with her UA exam pass and practical booklet and assigned battle center card. Midnight asks about the Adjutant's announcement as she locates all of Sarah's paperwork. "So, what's with the Adjutant's comment?"
Sarah looks bashful for a moment, scratching the back of her neck. "Game Night a few months ago, we were playing an RTS and I kept winning with a Psionic race versus her marines and medics and Momo's mech and stealth nuke combo. She called me that as a joke and apparently she set up the Adjutant to do it as well."
"Huh, neat. Anyway, your exam room is down the hall on the right, room 2-B, follow the signs on the doors. Good luck cutie."
Sarah nods with a light blush. "Yes Ma'am" and hurries down the hall.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the exam Sarah makes her way to the practical briefing in the large auditorium. The lights are already down low enough she can't make out many others in the room, but spots the green haired dude she saw at the gate sitting a few seats away. She starts going through the exam booklet and finds a few notices in the larger blocks of text regarding a shutdown button on each robot beneath a weaker panel as well as detailing weak points on the robots as the stage lights come on and Present Mic struts on stage.
"Welcome to today's performance! Everybody say HEY!"
For a moment, deafening silence rang across the room before the overhead speaker let out a single "Hey."
Present Mic sighed and looked utterly defeated as he replied. "Thank you Adjutant." Quickly regaining his composure, Present Mic began introducing the exam. "All riiight, guys, gals, and non-binary pals, I'm here to present the practical exam. Are you READY?"
More silence through the stadium before the speaker crackles again and Adjutant's monotone voice trails across. "Yeah"
Present Mic visibly twitches at Adjutant's response before continuing. "This is how the test will go, listeners. You'll be experiencing a ten minute mock cityscape villain attack. You and your fellow examinees will be able to bring along any self built or approved support equipment, so make sure you check in with Power Loader after the briefing if you are using any support gear. You'll have thirty minutes to make it to your bus and then you'll head off to your assigned testing center. YEAH!"
Another momentary pause as the Adjutant's voice comes across again. "Yeah."
Present Mic mutters "when will I learn." Before bouncing back with full energy. "Each site will have three kinds of faux villains, a one, two, and three pointer. Points will be awarded for each villain destroyed based on their difficulty value. Use your gear, quirks, and wits to take down these faux villains to reach your goal listeners. YEAH! Remember though, in this trial you are with fellow heroes, no attacking each other or you'll be instantly disqualified and barred from the exam."
He's about to continue before a tall boy with dark blue hair stands and shouts. "May I ask a question?!" He doesn't wait for a response before he continues though. "There appear to be no less than four faux villains in the hand out. If this is a blatant error on behalf of UA and Japan's top Hero Academy." He looks sharply back towards the green haired dude. "And you! You've been muttering this whole time. If this is some sort of game, then leave immediately."
Sarah sighs as she looks over at the green dude cowering before speaking up. "Dude, chill out, I'm like two seats away and couldn't hear him. Let the dude process in his own way and let Present Mic get on with the explanation. If you're still confused then read the hand out." She looks back at Present Mic as he clears his throat and leans forwards. "Thank you examinees 7111 and 666, the final robot on the list is sort of an arena trap, and is worth zero points for defeating it. Best to just stay out of its way, ya dig?!" He straightens up and continues. "Alright listeners, That's all from me, I'll leave you with our school motto, Go beyond!"
As he leads off the motto the energy finally hits the examinees and everyone responds with. " PLUS ULTRA!"
As everyone starts to trickle out of the room towards their locker room or to Power Loaders station, Sarah pats the green haired dude on the shoulder. "Hey man, don't let him get to you, everyone's nervous for the test. You got this." He startles as he looks up to meet Sarah's eyes, taking in her imposing form before nodding furiously and starting to stammer a reply before she cuts him off. "Alright dude, you seem super nervous. Let's try to fix that okay, don't need to have a panic attack before a big exam so lets do a quick breathing thing. count with me breath in…2…3…4. Hold….2…3…4. Out…2….3…4." She repeats that a second time with him as he quickly calms down. "See? Okay, let's try again, I'm Sarah Kerrigan. What's your name?"
He still looks quite nervous but slowly starts to get himself under control as he starts to respond. "I-I-Izuku M-M-Midoriya…n-nice to m-meet you."
"Cool, good job Midoriya, I know I can look pretty scary so I'm proud of you dude. Anyway, we should get ready for the practical. It was nice meeting you Midoriya, I hope to see you in classes in a few weeks." She pats his back again before splitting off to her designated locker room.
Izuku stands there dumbstruck for a few more moments before startling and rushing off to his locker room to get ready.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a bit of a wait and a short bus ride, Sarah stands in front of a large gate with several other students milling about nearby, all in various stretches or preparing for the test in their own way. The spiky haired blonde guy is standing towards the front of the pack in a black and orange tank top and basketball shorts with a menacing face and a near growl building in his throat.
Sarah stands in an inactive underlayer of a Hazardous Environment Suit with modifications to allow her wings and tail to move freely while she moves. As the gates begin to slowly open, Adjutant's voice crackles across the nearby speakers and calls out. "Start!"
Sarah quickly darts inside and off to the left to summon a pair of larva, turning one into a queen and the other into a pair of Raptorlings to scout and target one pointers. The spiky haired guy rushes forwards into the arena at the same time and a moment later the Adjutant's voice comes across again. "Examination has begun, there will be no further countdown."
The remaining group pushes forwards into the arena as Sarah's first queen finishes growing and spawns an additional two larva. "Queen, summon three more pairs of Raptorlings and two Hydralisks, then spread creep and begin destroying robots." Sarah instructs memtally as she starts to rush into the side streets and tear through robots with her wings, taking note of the shut off panel for the Hydralisks to target.
A few minutes prior in front of another arena, a large suit of red power armor stands in a resting position in front of the exam center gate as several examinees stand nearby warily. The tall blue haired man from earlier stands nearby indignantly and approaches. "Excuse me! You are not supposed to be wearing a full suit of armor and is that a gun?!"
The powered armor turns towards him slowly before the faceplate lifts up to show a blonde haired girl inside. "Actually, Present Mic made the call out earlier, and I have my armor and weapon approved by power loader and Nezu. So long as you built an item yourself and have it approved you can use whatever support gear you want. I built both the armor and gun as part of my support course classes last year."
The boy looks very put off by her clear explanation as though it doesn't fit his worldview and so much be wrong before he snaps rigidly and bows deeply at a 90 degree angle. "I apologize, I did not expect someone to have built their own armor for the exam."
The girl in the armor waves him off. "No big deal, just don't attack me during the test okay? My armor is pretty tough, unlike the robots we're facing."
As the stiff blue haired guy was distracted by the suit of armor, Izuku makes his way over to the brown haired girl with a bob-cut unaccosted and they chat for a moment and he helps her calm down with a breathing exercise he was shown earlier. They are both smiling for a moment before the gate opens and both Midoriya and the suit of armor rush into the arena as Present Mic calls out. "Start!"
As several other students stand still for a moment he follows up his statement with. "There's no countdowns in a real battle, get going! You're wasting airtime!"
Once again the students caught flat footed rushed into the arena and started taking down robots.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a darkened monitor room the Pro Hero faculty of UA gather to watch the events of the exam as Present Mic slides into his chair after announcing the start of the exam in his area.
A scruffy looking man in a yellow sleeping bag chides him as he sits. "You know Adjutant would have announced battle center B if you let her, right?"
"But where's the fun in that, Sho? I can't let the Adjutant take all my fun."
"Illogical." Shouta grumbles as he directs his attention back to the screens.
Present Mic asks. "Any standouts so far? I saw two rush in quickly in my area, good heads on their shoulders."
Midnight pipes up from her couch. "Two in battle center A ran in as well. Hey Majima, check it out, your hellion is kicking some serious ass in Mic's arena."
The center screen adjusts to show battle center B as Midnight calls this out. Displaying Melissa shredding through several one and two pointer robots using her rifle, and punching a three pointer as it attempts to sneak up on her from behind.
Power Loader aka Majima Higari just shakes his head as he grumbles a reply. "I never doubted her for a second. She’s sweet when you're talking with her, but you can tell she has a lot of rage to let out when she's working in the shop. I swear, if it weren't for Toga and Josei, Shield would be blowing things up left and right. Good luck with her this year, Eraser."
Shouta shakes his head as Majima calls him out. "Don't look at me, Midnight's getting the 1-A hellions this year. I kept a few from last year so Nezu's having me stick with them. He did mention we would partner up our classes for some of the larger team exercises though."
Midnight squeals. "I know! I'm so excited to have some first year's for once."
Shouta shakes his head as he turns back to one of the smaller screens. "Hey, isn't that Shield's ghost suit on one of the examinees?"
As the main screen flips over to highlight the winged girl stabbing through a three pointer with her wings before turning to bash a one pointer's head off with her tail. "Oh yeah, let me see…" Majima speaks up as he flips through a clipboard of the examinees. "Yep, that's the one, Sarah Kerrigan, using a deactivated variant of the Hazardous Environment Suit as her mutations make a regular gym outfit hard to fit into normally for the test. It was approved by Nezu when her application was put in since it doesn't have any of the fancy fixings of the full suit."
Vlad king speaks up for the first time as he looks around the same battle center. "What're those creatures running around breaking bots? Someone's quirk?"
Nezu cackles as he focuses the camera on the Queen that has finished spawning units and has begun targeting two pointers. "That's Kerrigan's quirk actually, her mutations we're just a part of it. We're looking at this Year's classes having at least one or two post singularity quirks in them based on the examinees scores right now. Kerrigan has been racking up points both on her own and through her quirk's creatures."
There are a few hushed gasps around the room before Nezu speaks up again. "Quirks are weird and we are monitoring the quirk singularity in younger students as more and more complex quirks pop up all the time. So far it seems that rather than becoming too strong for a child their quirk will become more complex. For example, a 3rd generation quirk might be to make water from their hands at a trickle. A 6th generation might be able to shoot water out at high pressure like hero backdraft. A singularity quirk would be hydrokinesis and high pressure water production, perhaps with other secondary effects if the quirk has mutated."
As nezu finishes up his speech Midnight throws him a hand wave and points to the big red button on his console. "Uh, sir, it's about that time."
"Right, right, we can discuss this further later. Let the real test start!" As he slams his hand onto the big red button to release the zero pointers the screens split to show each arena and a section of ground breaking apart as a massive robot claws its way out and begins to wreak havoc among the arena as Adjutant's voice echos from all available exam site speakers. "Two minutes remain."
Displayed on several screens students are running from the robot monstrosity. A few others show something different.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarah instructs two of the Raptorlings and the Hydralisks to dissolve while instructing the scouts to ensure students have gotten away from the giant zero pointer. Sarah has the Queen summon a new larva and begin growing into the largest of her brood. After only a few moments of waiting the egg that the larva had spawned cracked open with a screech as the greatest of Kerrigan's brood emerged, the Ultralisk.
Towering over the buildings in the mock city, with giant pincer-like claws on its face, the Ultralist charges at the zero pointer and meets it head on in combat in a clash. As both titans of the battlefield clash in a whirl of claws and fists, Sarah and her Raptorlings help to escort any examinees away from the area for the remaining minute.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Off in another battle center, a girl is trapped under rubble as the zero pointer begins to rampage towards her. Two people rush towards her against the crowd of fleeing hopefuls as she calls out. First to arrive is Midoriya who tries to lift the rubble before the robot crushes his trapped new friend. After a moment the second arrives. Melissa, clad in her powered combat suit, stands nearby to assist with removing the rubble before the robot can crush them all. Receiving a proximity alarm in her suit she looks up and quickly asks the green haired guy next to her.
"Hey man, do you have a quirk to take down the zero pointer?"
Izuku startles for a moment as he looks up to the giant approaching robot before steeling his nerves and nodding his head.
He steps away from the two for a moment as he crouches and mutters to himself slightly before blasting into the air as his arm glows and he smashes the head of the zero pointer, it crumbling and explosions rippling through the robot as it crashes back to the ground. Melissa rips the rubble off of the girl as he leaps and notices him falling, three of his four limbs trailing behind him uselessly. She looks to the lady she rescued. "Gravity girl, any chance you can catch him?"
Looking nauseous and nearly at the limit of her quirk. "Y-yes. I'm U-Uraraka Ochako by the way." She taps her own arm and swallows thickly as bile threatens her. "T-throw me at him."
Melissa nods and has the onboard computer handle the firing solution for her throw. "Good luck Uraraka." She picks up the now weightless girl and throws her at the rapidly plummeting Izuku. As a loud slap echoes across the now silent arena and both Midoriya and Uraraka slowly float down to the ground from their new momentum they are caught in the last few feet as Uraraka's quirk fails.
Adjutant's voice echoes across the arena's speakers. "The exam has concluded. Please make your way to the exit of your battle center. If you are injured please remain where you are and a medic bot will arrive shortly."
Melissa sets Uraraka and Midoriya down carefully as he groans in pain in her arms before passing out from the pain and Uraraka rushes off a step before collapsing to her knees and vomiting. "You uh… gonna be okay over there?"
Uraraka raises a thumbs up in response as she finishes dry heaving. After a few moments a short older woman walks up with the assistance of her cane and with two stretcher bots in tow. "Anyone hurt over here?"
Melissa raises her arm in the powered combat suit and waves her over. Reading from her heads up display to list off injuries. "Over here Recovery Girl, got one with a severe case of nausea and another with three shattered limbs."
Recovery Girl taps her way over with her cane, instructing the bots to load Midoriya onto the stretcher. "Thank you dearie. Now then, let's see…" She collects a pack of gummies and hands them to Uraraka and plants a healing kiss on her hand, relieving her nausea. "Be sure to eat those gummies dear, they'll help you keep up your energy." She turns to start to heal Midoriya. "This one's going to be trouble this year." She mutters as she places a kiss on his uninjured arm, and watches as his damaged limbs repair themselves.
"I'm going to keep him in the infirmary for a bit while he sleeps off the effects of my quirk." She says before shuffling away and following the bots towards the infirmary.
Melissa nods as she leaves and waves to Uraraka. "Good catch on him, hope to see you in classes this year." Melissa says before making her way out of the city to meet up with Sarah.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the last few moments of her exam Sarah watches with other students as the Ultralisk clashes with the zero pointer, locked in a gnashing battle of pincers blades and fists straight out of an old mecha kaiju movie. Sarah cheers for the Ultralisk as it gets a blade under the arm of the robot and shears it off just as Adjutant's voice rings across the arena's speakers.
"The exam has concluded. Please make your way to the exit of your battle center. If you are injured please remain where you are and a medic bot will arrive shortly."
As the zero pointer shuts down from the damage and end of exam signal, Sarah calls off the Ultralisk from doing any further damage and lets it dissolve with her quirk before making her way to the arena exit to meet up with her friend for lunch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Waiting at the UA gate Sarah, now wearing a pair of modified shorts and a tank top over her underlayer suit waves over to Melissa. "Hey Mel, how do you think you did on the exam?"
Melissa, back in her favorite red dress, leggings and red high top converse combo, high fives Sarah when she gets close. "Well, the HUD on the suit said I got 60 robot points, so I think I did alright. How about you?"
Sarah shrugs as they make their way to a local ramen place to meet up with Momo. "I lost count personally, around 20 robots downed, but I don't know how the swarm did. Oh! You should've seen it, I had an Ultra fight the zero pointer. It was like that old mecha movie you had us watch, what was it called again?"
"Hmm, oh yeah, Pacific Rim. If hero work doesn't turn out Maybe you should get into the movies instead?"
Sarah barks a laugh. "Ha! Could you imagine? They'd typecast me as some 'queen bitch' type of villain." They both keep laughing and cracking jokes as they make their way to lunch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One week later finds Melissa, Momo, and Sarah relaxing in one of the lounges and reading books as their phones ping.
Sarah grabs her phone and checks her texts to see an update from her mom to grab the mail since her UA letter should be arriving today. Jumping from the couch Sarah runs off to grab the mail. "BeRightBack!"
"Don't leave any holes in the wall." Momo replies in the most deadpan voice she can manage.
Melissa and Momo hear a squawk followed by a crashing sound before bursting out laughing. A few minutes later Sarah finally reenters the room carrying two letters with the UA seal. "Still bullshit that you already know you got in Momo."
Said girl shrugs as Sarah hands Melissa her letter. "That's recommendations for you, besides, you wanted the fun of fighting robots anyway."
"Point. Anyway, Melissa, you wanna open yours first since you're already attending UA?"
"Sure." Melissa rips the top of her letter open and starts to pull out a few sheets of paper before a metal disk drops onto the table and starts to play a holographic message of All Might.
"I Am Here! As a projection! Hello Melissa! As a UA student already, you did not need to take the written exam for the Heroics Course. On the practical exam you scored 60 combat points! This is enough to pass on its own, but that's not all there is to it!"
All Might gestures to a screen behind himself.
"Behold! This video!" On screen Uraraka asks Present Mic to share her points with 'the nice blonde lady in the armor and the plain, green haired guy.' "The Heroics entrance exam was not just about beating up villains, but about all aspects of being a hero! There's a secondary scoring mechanism included as well, rescue points! For your assistance in rescuing young Uraraka, you have been awarded 30 rescue points! Leaving you with 90 total points on the exam, placing second overall! Congratulations Melissa, this is your Hero Academia!" The screen changes over to a class placements section for a moment showing that Melissa will be in class 1-A before shutting down entirely.
The trio sits in silence for a moment before Melissa laughs. "Oh wow, uncle might is going to be teaching at UA next year. This is a dream come true, I get to learn Heroics from the number one hero!" Sarah and Momo break out of their stunned stupor at that. "Wait, you know All Might?" Sarah asks, shocked.
"Yeah, he's been friends with my dad since he worked in America, dad makes all of his Hero Costumes." Melissa replies cheerfully.
"Huh, you know, I didn't think about that…" Sarah replies, somewhat shocked she didn't make that connection. "Anyway, lemme do my letter." Ripping open her letter Sarah is prepared for All Might to appear again.
"I Am Here! As a projection! You scored a 97 on the written exam, plenty well enough to be admitted to UA. On the Heroics practical exam you scored 75 villain points, plenty of points to pass normally, but that's not all! The Heroics entrance exam was not just about beating up villains, but about all aspects of being a hero! There's a secondary scoring mechanism included as well, rescue points! For your assistance in rescuing your fellow examinees from the Zero pointer by using your creature to keep it at bay, you received an additional 20 rescue points, bringing you to 95 total points on the exam landing you solidly in first place! Congratulations Sarah Kerrigan! Welcome to your Hero Academia!" The screen switches to a similar screen displaying her class information before switching off.
Momo is the first to recompose herself as Sarah and Melissa sit stunned over the rankings. "We're all in the same class! Oh this is so exciting!"
Sarah cheers "First place! Hell yeah! And Melissa snagged second too!" Sarah uses her wings to snag Melissa and Momo and drag them into a crushing group hug. After dragging both down to the couch the girls slowly settle back into relaxing until their parents come home for a large celebratory dinner later.

Chapter 3 is up!
Uhh, word count go brrr. I guess. Woops?
Anyway, quick summary, we get Melissa 'best girl' Shield introduced, she talks quirks with the girls, some set up for the future and a support exam with two other best girls.
We also get Adjutant installed in the UA campus as well as some other minor housekeeping done for future chapters.

Momo and Sarah are lazing about the following Sunday in one of the lounge rooms in the estate house when they both receive a text from Izsha. 'Girls, please come to the entry, we've got a guest to meet today.'
Sarah perks up and tosses her book onto the couch as she nearly sprints from the room. "Momo lets go!"
Momo takes a more sedate pace and places her bookmark into her book before lightly setting it on the side-table. Murmuring as Sarah runs from the room. "So impatient."
Using her wings and tail to counterbalance as she runs through the halls Sarah arrives at the entry lounge shortly as Izsha shakes her head. "Sarah, how many times have I told you not to run in the house? Please tell me you didn't spike any of the walls with your wings again?" Verity giggles lightly from her couch as Izsha sits down next to her, placing a tray of tea on the coffee table.
Sarah huffs indignantly as she crosses her arms. "Why is everyone reminding me of dumb childhood mistakes, I was five mom."
Izsha and Verity laugh as Sarah pouts. "And it took a week to find all the little holes you poked with your wings dear." Verity says.
Momo comes in a few moments later as izsha calms down from teasing her daughter. "Sarah, I'm so proud of you, a full sprint and you didn't even scuff the walls this time."
"Oh not you too!" Sarah huffs again and flops onto the opposite couch as she pouts harder. "My family is so mean to me."
Dehaka knocks lightly as he opens the entry door and Sarah quickly schools her features back into a neutral face. Melissa Shield walks in wearing a red summer dress paired with black leggings and a lair of red converse hightops. "...And this is the entry lounge where Mrs. Verity Yaoyorozu, her daughter and my honorary niece Momo Yaoyorozu, as well as my wife Izhsa and my daughter Sarah should be at. Hello girls, may I introduce you to Melissa Shield. Shield-san will be staying on property in our guest bedroom while attending UA in exchange for workshop space here as well as assisting Sarah and Momo with their support gear needs. Shield-san, please grab a seat and we can all talk for a while as the staff sets up your room and then we can inspect the workshop later, sound good?"
Melissa smiles brightly as she enters the room. "That would be wonderful Mr. Kerrigan. Hello all, I'm Melissa Shield, please call me Melissa, it's lovely to make your acquaintance and I'm excited to see what gear we can get you both set up with." Melissa settles into a loveseat while Dehaka claims the chair-and-a-half seat to fit his larger frame.
Verity speaks up before Sarah can launch into any fangirl rambling. Izsha waved a hand lightly to calm her daughter. "It's lovely to meet you Melissa, just a few ground rules of the estate before we get started. Firstly this is private property and we have all of our qualifications for quirk and machine testing since both myself and Toto like to dabble in machining as well as Momo and Sarah work on their quirks quite often. Secondly there will be no quirk discrimination from anyone on the property, as both our security leads and Sarah have heavy mutations. So please do not feel worried over your quirk status here dear. Thirdly explosives are not to be tested before 7 am or after 8pm." Verity throws a sharp glance at Momo who pouts in response.
"You set off a single stick of dynamite one time…" Momo grumbles lightly as Sarah pats her on the back. "Not so funny being on the receiving end of the teasing is it momo?"
Momo huffs. "Yeah yeah. Anyway, it's nice to meet you Melissa, please call me Momo." She points at Sarah and she takes her cue. "Hi there Melissa, feel free to call me Sarah. I'm excited to work with you soon. By the time we're all attending, UA won't know what to do with the three of us."
Melissa smiles happily as the ground rules are explained and introductions are made. "I appreciate not being treated differently for being quirkless. It wasn't a big deal on I-Island, but I read it can be pretty bad here for the quirkless." She picks up her briefcase style laptop and settles it onto her lap, opening her notes function. "Could you both tell me about your quirks so we can draft up some ideas, we can get working on them soon."
Dehaka laughs as he stands. "Come on ladies, let's let the girls and Melissa chat for a bit. Girls, when you're done here, would you show Melissa her workshop?"
Sarah waves them off as their parents leave the room. "Sure dad, we'll see you at dinner."
"It was lovely meeting you Melissa, the girls can get you added to the estate's group chats and finish up your tour later for you. We'll see you three at 7 for dinner." Izsha says as she stands and makes her way out of the room, following Verity and Dehaka.
Sarah claps lightly as the parents leave. "Alright, so, quirks. Momo you go first."
Sighing at Sarah's antics. "Sure Sarah." She looks at Melissa, catching her eye and attention as she pops a larva plush figurine from her forearm and catches it. "Melissa, my quirk lets me create any item so long as I know the chemical and atomic makeup of the item. It's got sub-mutations that increase my intelligence to help me keep up with all of those items, and gives me super dense fat stores as the things I create are made using my lipids as fuel."
Melissa's rapid typing slows as she finishes her explanation. "That's fascinating, would you mind answering a few questions on your quirk before we get to Sarah?"
Momo looks to Sarah to confirm before nodding. "Sure."
"Cool, so for your creations, do you have a limit on the type of creations? Can you make organic materials? What's the biggest thing you've ever made?" She looks ready to keep rambling questions before quickly stopping herself and taking a deep breath. "Sorry, dad says I need to slow down sometimes."
Momo looks shocked for a moment during her ramble but adjusts quickly. "Let's see… in order, I can make just about anything you can make using atoms as long as I know the structure, but I'm not resistant to radiation, so no radioactive isotopes for example. Uhh, I can make organic materials like wood, but nothing alive, so even if I try to make a bonsai tree, it would be a dead tree even if it's shaped like a living one. Sarah, what's the biggest thing I made?" She looks at Sarah and shrugs.
Sarah furrows her brow in confusion. "I think you made that cubic meter block of aluminum to test it out, but isn't your scooter bigger than that?" Sarah gives up and shrugs. "Momo’s pretty good with making stuff so she could always pop a thing out in parts and then assemble it if she needs to. She can also swap construction pieces on the fly. Like gold plating her staff because it was funny."
"Really? Very cool." Melissa updates her notes and turns to Sarah. "What about yourself Sarah?"
Stammering slightly. "O-oh uh, my mutations give me my wings and tail, both of which are able to be moved at will and with decent strength. My chitinous plating in my torso is actually bulletproof for up to .45acp, and I won't ever need a bra which is nice." She smiles as she jokes, seeing Melissa's light blush. "Oh, and my actual quirk itself lets me spin essences from food I've eaten somewhat recently into creatures that I can summon into the world with different effects for each creature and I can show you some of them later. Oh, and I'm limited on 'supply' for each creature I make, usually around 10 'units' of supply on my own right now, but I just figured out how to make a creature that raises that for me slightly." Sarah throws air quotes for emphasis on her terms.
"Uh, I know that's kind of a lot, but we think my quirk might have hit singularity since mom and dad's families usually had kids young so I'm technically a 7th generation quirk." She looks a bit sheepish as she mentions her theory on why her quirk is complicated. "My Uh, best guess on why mine's so complicated is that instead of getting too powerful for human bodies, they're going to just get more and more complex, adding in facets of other quirks, like how my mutations would be on the level with a 3rd generation quirk on their own. Look at Momo's quirk, she's able to create anything from her fat cells, that's wildly more advanced than someone who's quirk is to change their hair color for example. And I'm rambling and you probably know all of this already." Sarah blushes and ducks her head.
Melissa has been typing rapidly while looking entranced the whole time Sarah has been talking. "Sarah, that's fascinating oh my goodness. I would love to see your creatures later! I finished my masters in biology and mechanical engineering while at I-tech during my high-school years since dad let me skip grades as a kid so I can't wait to see what stuff the three of us can make together. You both have definitely done a bunch of testing on your quirks. Sarah, I just have a couple of clarification questions on yours."
Sarah perks up. "Hmm?"
"How long do you hold essences for? Also when you summon something does it disappear after a set time?"
"So I can hold the essence of something for about a week, but once I make a creature with it I just need at least one component of that creature to be able to summon it. I also have the larva that don't really have a limit on them since I can summon stuff from larva without having eaten anything they were made from. The larva kind of just store the essences and then morph into the creature they are directed towards from there. And creatures don't disappear but they can die, and would need food after a while." Sarah furrows her brow a moment.
"Except maybe not since I think the queen's creep stuff makes bio-nutrients from whatever it comes in contact with and feeds the creatures of the swarm from that. I need to test queen's more since they're so recent." Sarah finishes up and looks at momo. "Remind me to grab my notebook to share with Melissa."
Momo nods and turns back to Melissa. "So, anything else about our quirks you wanted to ask?"
"No, anything else I come up with I can ask later. Would you mind showing me the workshop space?" Melissa folds her laptop back up and stands with Sarah and Momo.
Reaching the workshop Sarah opens the door with a flourish. "Ta-dah! This is your space, let us know if there's anything you're missing while working here and we can get it for you. Momo's dad basically gave you a nearly unlimited budget for tools and materials."
Melissa walks into the workshop space and has to catch her jaw before it hits the floor. The workshop has nearly every state of the art piece of machinery a full I-Island design space would have available. As she wanders the space she falls into a muttering spree over the tools. "...there's even a nanofab and bioprint system."
Eventually Melissa catches herself and sits at a workbench. "This is lovely, I don't know how to thank you or your parents for this opportunity."
Momo shrugs as she settles into an opposite stool. "It's no bother, My parents honestly have too much money that they don't know what to do with it all. I do know that Sarah and I are grateful for your assistance with our support gear and we look forward to hopefully being your friend as well."
"I think I'd like that." Melissa smiles softly at her new friends. "Anyway, let's get started drafting up those ideas for gear. Oh, and feel free to throw any ideas out while we brainstorm, we can look into other projects that aren't just support gear as well if you'd like."
A few hours of brainstorming and planning later and their phones ping with a text from Verity. 'Dinner in 15 in the main dining room.'
The three gather their things and get ready for dinner.
After the girls settle in at the table, Toto walks into the dining room while working on his phone before Verity places a hand on his arm lightly. "Dear, no work at the table."
"Right, right. Sorry dear." He startles lightly at the blonde addition to the table. "Oh right! Hi there miss Shield, it's lovely to meet you face to face. How are you liking your accommodations so far? Have the girls run you ragged yet?" He says with a knowing smile at his daughter and honorary niece.
"Oh, the workshop is lovely so far Mr. Yaoyorozu!" She throws in a light bow, still getting used to Japanese customs.
Waving her off. "Oh, none of that here. We all spent too much time in the states to care much for bowing or the whole last names thing, please call me Toto."
"Alright then, please call me Melissa."
"Wonderful! It's a bit early for prototypes, but have you and the girls come up with any ideas so far?"
As the food is set on the table by a butler and everyone starts making plates Melissa says. "We have, We're planning to make a suit of armor for momo that will let her use her quirk through the material, as well as hopefully implement a camouflage or invisibility aspect to the suit." She pauses a moment to take a bit of steak before continuing. "Sarah suggested giving Momo a gun for range since she was complaining about losing their sparring match yesterday, so I'm planning to make some changes to the C-15 rifle for Momo to use. It's likely I can set it up to fire different styles of bullets for capture, stunning with a taser, or even high explosive rounds for demolition work if needed. Papa had a similar gun built as a prototype, but it never saw use and was shelved."
Dehaka laughs from his place at the table. "Hear that Toto, Momo's getting a gun, We'll have to set up the range again so she can get her license and some practice with it." He smiles over at his friend before looking at Melissa again. "Any ideas for Sarah so far?"
"We're going to be workshopping some ideas for her to make different creatures soon once we can sort out what qualifies as essence for her quirk."
Sarah pipes up as Melissa finishes explaining. "Plus she's shared a couple of other project ideas with us as well which are super interesting. Melissa, what about the adjutant project?"
Melissa goes beet red. "It's a system-wide assistant still in the early testing phases right now." Dehaka and Toto both look intrigued at the notion.
"Would you mind going into more detail on that for me Melissa?" Izsha speaks up before the boys can jump to conclusions as she sets down her glass of wine.
"Yes ma'am. The adjutant is intended to be a non-sapient artificial intelligence utilized by building or facility administrators to monitor and assist with facility functions. It is based on the Artificial Tele-empathic Logistics Analysis System, or ATLAS systems in use on I-Island. The adjutant would be able to connect with all attached systems, alert for security risks, and could be connected to control a team of robotic defense forces as well." Melissa takes a pause on her explanation to eat while the others at the table digest the information dump.
"So it's a personal assistant for a building that doesn't have the gopher aspect?" Verity asks to clarify.
"I believe so, could you clarify what you mean by gopher for me?" Melissa asks with clear confusion.
Toto laughs and responds for Verity. "You know, go for that, go for this, gopher?"
Melissa nods. "Yes exactly, it could dispatch some robots to do things for you if they're connected to the system, but would be housed in a central location and available over a comms unit instead."
"Incredible. I look forward to your progress on this and please let me know if you want to bring any items to market under yaoyorozu industries. I'd be willing to offer you a 95/5 split of the profits on the sales of your creations as a family friend."
"Maybe we can discuss the terms of a sale like that at a later time, once I have a prototype available." Melissa said, already planning for future designs under that sales label as it would beat what the I-island companies could offer to her."
After dinner Melissa walks back to the Kerrigan household with her new housemates. Excited for her upcoming projects with her new friends Sarah and Momo.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Six months later finds Melissa at the gates to UA, with Sarah at her side as an assistant for the day to help carry her prototype projects for the support practical exam. "Thanks again for tagging along Sarah, I appreciate it."
"Anytime Mel, it sucks that Momo got dragged into a conference with her dad though."
"Yeah, she should be free by the time we're done here though so we can grab lunch before heading back to the estate if you two want?"
"Cool, sounds good." Sarah lifts the last case along with her backpack."Alright, mule fully loaded, let's rock."
Melissa giggles lightly. "We're two hours early Sarah, take your time with the gear."
"Uh-huh. Still, I need to be moving soon or I'll be stuck in awe at the UA main building."
They set off and make their way through the halls and check in at the support registration tables with vlad king. "Good morning Mr. Vlad king, I'm Melissa Shield and this is my guest and assistant for the day Sarah Kerrigan. I'm here for the support practical exam."
Vlad checks through the roster for the day. "Yep, got you right here." He passes over a form and a pair of ID badges on lanyards. "Please sign the waiver and keep the lanyards on at all times, Nezu is tracking them all through the facility today and will take removal of your ID as an automatic failure."
After the girls sign and don their lanyards they follow Vlad's directions to their proctor room. As they walk in Sarah scans the room for Melissa's competition, taking note of an excited blond haired girl bouncing at her station in blue coveralls and an extremely tall blue and white fox girl with white hair who is standing awkwardly in the corner of the room with a large briefcase. There are a few other relatively unremarkable students in the room as well who have started going over their items again.
"Sarah stop daydreaming and help me set up at this table." Sarah snaps out of it and follows Melissa. Just then the large door at the front of the room opens and a taller woman with long spiky dark purple hair calls out. "Ippan Josei, please come in." She looks up from her clipboard as the tall fox girl makes her way to the door. "Oh dear, We'll get these doors and rooms updated for you if you get in hon, I apologize on behalf of UA for the inconvenience."
As she shuffles through the door the fox woman meekly responds. "It's alright, I know I'm a bit too tall."
They disappear behind the door as they continue talking, the dark haired woman reassuring the tall girl. Someone grumbles on the other side of the room about mutant quirks before Sarah shoots them a dirty look. Melissa's hand settles on her shoulder after a moment. "Sarah, don't pick fights because some people are assholes, it's unheroic."
Sarah sighs as she starts double checking Melissa's gear and readjusts the heavy backpack she's wearing. "Yeah, you're right. So glad I was homeschooled with Momo."
After a few more minutes the other blonde is called into the room. "Himiko Toga, please come in." She jumps up from where she had finally settled into her chair. "Ooh that's me! Thanks!" And rushes into the room followed by the suited woman laughing in a very familiar manner. "Melissa, does that lady seem familiar?"
"Who, the blonde? No, why?"
"No Mel, the lady in the suit. Her laugh seems super familiar. I'll just ask her later hopefully." Sarah shrugs as Melissa looks at her with a confused face. "Anyway, are you ready for this?"
A determined look crosses Melissa's face as she readies herself. "Hell yeah."
A few minutes later a whooping cheer can be heard from the other room. Melissa mumbles with a smile "Guess she got in." The door opens a moment later. "Melissa shield… and guest. Right this way please."
As Sarah follows Melissa into the room she makes the connection as they enter the next room and the door closes. "You're midnight! I love your work that promotes body positivity! You helped my aunt with her mutant quirk clothing line a few years ago, you're my favorite hero!"
The newly identified hero midnight laughs boisterously. "Good job young lady, hardly anyone recognizes me out of costume. We can talk more later though, I'd hate to keep your friend from her exam.
Blushing lightly Sarah nods. "Right, right. Sorry Melissa." Sarah hurries up and sets down the heavy carrying case on the table and starts to settle the hard shelled backpack on the table as well as the proctors step up to the display table and start asking Melissa questions.
"Good morning Miss Shield, my name is power loader, but you may call me Majima and to my right is pro hero Snipe, and on my left is Principal Nezu, we will have a few questions on your items today before we can offer or deny acceptance to UA's support courses. Will that be alright?"
"Yes sir, thank you for this opportunity." Melissa drops into a respectful bow as Sarah finishes settling the items on the table.
Snipe speaks up as Melissa opens the long briefcase. "Would you mind introducing your guest before we begin? We hardly ever have applicants bring additional assistance for their projects."
Melissa nods. "This is Sarah Kerrigan, she's assisting me with carrying these items in as some of these projects weigh upwards of 200lbs each and while I am strong from years of machining, Sarah has me beat by a league of her own. I also thought principal nezu might like to meet the person with one of the most interesting quirks in Japan."
Nezu perks up at this. "Oh, perhaps we can share a cup of tea once we are finished here, I'm more just a formality for these remaining interviews anyway, several of them have displayed quirkist behaviors in the last few minutes and will not be accepted to my school anyway."
Melissa and Sarah sweatdrop at this. "Right sir, shall we get started then? Please show us what your first item is." Majima brings the conversation back on topic to help diffuse the situation.
Melissa nods and gestures to the long briefcase as she removes the barrel and receiver assembly and begins reattaching them. "While I'm no John browning, I am quite happy with this design. This is the C-20A modified canister rifle, firing a 25mm cartridge that can be swapped between several options of bullet using the attached 12 round box magazine. Capable of accurately hitting a target at up to 3 km, with an auto adjust scope and self zeroing system, as well as attached suppressor to make this rifle near whisper silent even while firing at its maximum rate of 150 rounds per minute. While intended for long range villain capture or detainment using a variety of modified cartridges, it can fire standard NATO 25mm rounds for anti-material or in extreme cases anti-personnel situations." Melissa grimaces at her final statement before looking to the judges for questions.
Snipe whistles lightly as she explains the rifle. "Well done little lady, you've created quite the rifle here, I can see that you've forgone any picatinny rails and instead have this thin membrane around all but the optic and muzzle, any reason for that?"
"Would you mind if I gave a more practical demonstration for this part? I can leave the weapon unloaded and point it away if you would like?"
"That'd be fine, Miss Shield." Nezu speaks up, interested in what she's planning to show.
Sarah smirks as Melissa hands her the weapon and removes her blouse and skirt to show off the bodysuit underneath which looked to be leggings and an undershirt prior to being revealed. As Sarah hands the weapon back and Melissa flips a switch on her visor she and her rifle slip from the visible plane with only a light wisping haze in the air displaying where she is located as she speaks up.
"The C-20A rifle is designEd to be used in tandem with my next invention to display, underlayer to the full Hostile Environment Suit or skinsuit. It is a polymer light-refracting nano-fiber suit that I have designed in conjunction with Momo Yaoyorozu and Sarah Kerrigan which is intended to hide the user from view and allow for infiltration and dispatch of critical enemy encampments or fortifications." As she fades back into the visible spectrum with a slight hexagonal haze before she's fully revealed.
"Currently I'm just wearing the underlayer as I have not finalized my personal set of armor plates for this design, but we do have a set created for Momo Yaoyorozu based on Sarah's carapace mutation which can withstand up to a 12 gauge slug at point blank range, or a shot from the C-20A at a minimum of 100 meters and would assist with defense in close quarters or from long ranges if spotted as it would be camouflaged by the suit as well."
Majima's eyes are wide, and while Snipe's are hidden behind his mask are hidden from displaying his shock. "Young lady, we would be accepting you to this school based on these two inventions alone, however I do see that there is another case we have yet to see." Nezu is the first to recover and barely hides his excitement over having such a bright young woman in front of himself. "Would you mind displaying your remaining item for us?"
"Right, yes sir." She sets the rifle down on the table and opens the final case to display a robotic woman's torso and face that seems to lead into wires for her hair as well as appendages and lower torso. "This is the adjutant, she's a non-sapient artificial intelligence advisor and assistant."
"While currently she's offline, when connected to a building or facilities systems she acts as a system-wide administrator and personal assistant who can be connected and command up to 12,000 robotic units simultaneously to perform various functions ranging from as simple as fixing and retrieving a cup of coffee all the way up to performing simultaneous war games with participants or dispatching robots for base defense."
"Incredible work, have you noticed any issues or errors in her functions so far?" Nezu asks as Snipe and Majima go over the technical data booklets that Sarah has handed them.
"So far the only things of real note are that she will always refer to me as an administrator, and that her social skills are lower, similar to that of a human with Aspergers or in that range on the autism spectrum. While this could be considered a defect and corrected, I as well as Sarah and Momo felt that she’s fine just the way she is, as all other roles and functions perform optimally and adjusting her functions to improve socialization are uncomfortable trade-offs when considering her personality core."
"A fine deduction and I appreciate your care for a non-human entity, even if she is non sapient. Perhaps we can discuss installing her into the UA facility during your first term as a student here." He claps his hands as Melissa nods. "Wonderful, how about we adjourn for tea while Majima and Snipe finalize the last Few participants."
Snipe grumbles light-heartedly as his boss ditches him. "Midnight, would you mind handing Snipe your clipboard and coming with us for tea?" Nezu smiles as Snipe grumbles louder and reads over the names. "Boss, you just have these ones listed as all failing."
"Correct Snipe, they are lacking in the qualities that UA is looking for in our students, give them a cursory interview and wish them well in their next endeavors at another school system." Nezu climbs onto Midnight's shoulder as they exit the room, Sarah one again carrying Adjutant's case and the rifle's sealed case, a now dressed Melissa following them out of the room.
Once settled into Nezu's office for tea, Nezu asks as she pours everyone's cup. "So, we have a few things to discuss today based on your overwhelming qualifications to attend UA Miss Shield. Firstly we can go over your schedule, followed by the potential installation of an adjutant system, then finally we can discuss Miss Kerrigan's quirk. Does that sound agreeable, ladies?"
"It is Principal." Sarah nodded her head as Melissa responded.
"Wonderful! Now, Miss Shield, as we are both aware you have passed several college level courses and so this admission would act more as a transfer from your previous institution rather than a first time enrollment. In this case I would be happy to offer you the opportunity for dual enrollment in one of our other programs in your second year if you would like, as you would not need to participate in the general education courses that are required for the first two years of a degree here in our courses. How does that sound?"
Melissa smiles brightly at the principal and asks a question that Momo and Sarah have been pushing her towards based on her childhood dream. "That would be lovely sir, as I understand it your Heroics course does not have a restriction on quirkless students from applying, is that correct?"
"Why yes, we do accept quirkless applicants to the program, though we have yet to have an applicant under the updated policy. I would be happy to allow you to participate in the entrance exam for heroics next year if you would like. We have also updated the policies last year to allow support items built by the soley applicant and approved by majima and myself or approved by the board of directors and myself."
"Wonderful, I look forward to being your first quirkless hero student then."
Nezu laughs, nearly spilling his tea. "I am looking forward to it then. Now that we have that settled, I would like to install one of the adjutant systems in my school facilities, for this year we can set myself as the administrator and add my teachers at a later time if needed. As classes begin in three weeks, would you mind arriving in two weeks time to complete the installation? You will have all UA resources available to assist with getting this installed by the school year, and I am willing to pay for both the unit and rushed installation."
Melissa's eyes momentarily are blinded by dollar signs as she mentally plans the install. "Absolutely, we can discuss the pricing once it's installed, though I will take a bit off as I will be a required administrator in the systems as well. I can provide several of my own bot designs for Adjutant if you would like as well."
"You have a deal, Miss Shield. Finally, Miss Kerrigan, based on what Miss Shield has shared, may I presume that your quirk is just your mutation aspects?"
"That's correct sir, I believe my quirk has hit singularity as both of my parents possess complex 6th generation quirks and my quirk is too complex to be a simple quirk on its own. I believe that the quirk singularity theory is incorrect in the second half of its assumption. Rather than quirks becoming too powerful for the body of a human, the human will instead mutate and their body will adapt to be able to withstand their quirk, as well as quirks will become more and more complex as they evolve."
Nezu nods as Sarah continues. "My quirk has several aspects to it, I have my bone wings and tail which are both prehensile, my carapace is bullet resistant up to .45 acp rounds. My muscles are as strong as the average strength quirk. I can also summon creatures based on the essence collected from recently ingested foods, however I can mold and shape those essences into different creatures that can persist for an indefinite time-frame so long as they are fed and can have wildly different effects based on the essences selected for the creatures."
Nezu looks more and more intrigued as she continues. "Do you also plan to apply to UA's Heroics course next year?"
"That's correct Principal, I plan to create an agency that could rival All Might as the symbol of peace as Japan will not be ready for him to retire. He's been the number one hero for 15 years, and while his public age has not been shared, based on sports festival history and that he and Endeavor both began Heroics around the same time, All Might is likely to retire in the next five to ten years."
"I plan to introduce myself, Momo, and Sarah onto the heroics field as leaders in the Heroics industry, as well as some of our potential classmates during our UA years that we build a rapport with, to show the public that even when All Might retires, we will be here to shoulder the pillar he leaves behind." Sarah's eyes burn with determination as she finishes her impromptu speech.
"You are quite right that All Might may retire soon, however I do like your plan of creating more than one symbol of peace for the future. Perhaps a foundation of good heroes will be what Japan needs to safeguard the future. Regardless I believe we may have gotten off topic a bit, I look forward to having you attend UA in the coming years Miss Kerrigan. As for now, I believe we may end our discussion here for today. Congratulations again on your acceptance Miss Shield, I look forward to the great things you create here at my school. Miss Kerrigan, I look forward to your future in heroics alongside Miss Shield and Miss Yaoyorozu."
The two girls bow their heads before collecting their things and leaving the office. As the door closes behind them, Midnight speaks up. "Interesting girls, always nice to see such passionate youth." She huffs a laugh. "Still, her quirk sounds incredibly powerful."
"It is, and it's a good thing those two and their friend intend to be heroes, by the sounds of it and from recorded instances of her quirk, the singularity is likely happening as we speak for children and their quirks." He looks darkly into his tea."It's much sooner than expected. Perhaps there will only be a few singularity quirks this year, but soon we will start to see more and more of them."
"What is the quirk singularity anyway?" Midnight asks. "Like, I get that her quirk is powerful, but…" she trails off as nezu answers her. "The quirk singularity is a doomsday theory from a few generations ago, the assumption that as quirks grow stronger and stronger at the rapid pace they have been, they will become too strong for the human body and children will die as their quirks come in too powerful for their bodies"
"Well, hopefully her quirk isn't an outlier then, We'll have to see I guess."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two weeks later finds Melissa, Momo, and Sarah finalizing the installation on the adjutant system for UA.
Sarah wipes her brow as she says. "Alright Mel, that's the final power check done."
"Same for the connectors and cables." Momo says.
"Great, hitting the power now." Melissa flips the final breaker before closing and locking the case.
After a few moments of waiting several cords shake as the Adjutant's servos adjust and run self-checks before her eyes open and display bright blue irises. "Adjutant online, good afternoon, Mistress. All systems nominal and integration complete. How may I assist you today?" Adjutant says with a monotone feminine voice.
"Gods fucking damnit Sarah why did you and Momo force that to be my title?" Melissa mutters and shakes her head before addressing the Adjutant. "Good afternoon Adjutant, run full systems self check."
"Yes Mistress, System self check initiated…processing…complete, no major faults found, minor errors found… integrating deadman systems in all exterior facilities… minor errors corrected in two hours, ten minutes….potential error identified, no alternate administrators aside from Mistress. Would you like to add administrators now?"
The Adjutant twitches and shakes slightly while processing the self check before settling down and only lightly moving to help simulate a conversation. Melissa notes on her clipboard all adjustments and changes noted in the self check before responding. "Yes Adjutant, before we add those, download a copy of the self check log and email it to me in our secure system. Add administrator: name: Nezu. Username: Rat God. Set temporary password R4t_0verl0rd. Require password change upon first login. Prevent username change by user. Grant all other permissions except removal of myself as administrator."
"Completed Mistress. Are there any other tasks I may assist with at this time?"
Melissa shakes her head. "No, thank you Adjutant." Melissa collects her tools and helps Sarah off the floor as they make their way to the principal's office. Sarah and Momo split off to wait by the gate after confirming their lunch plans with Melissa.
At Nezu's office Melissa raises her hand to knock as Nezu opens the door just before her knuckles can land. "Well played Principal. Adjutant, Identify Nezu."
Adjutant's voice comes over the speaker above his desk. "Good afternoon Rat God. Please update your password to begin."
"She's all set up and connected to the facility, just ask for her and she'll respond to you and I right now, you can add any additional admins you would like later, and I would suggest running through her tutorials when you get a chance. Oh, and she installed a few deadman signals in the exterior facilities, so all admins will be notified should connection to a location be cut or limited. Just as a precaution. Anyway, Please let me know if you need anything that Adjutant can't fix for you."
"Thank you again for the quick installation Miss Shield, the payment for the Adjutant system will be in your account shortly. Enjoy your classes at UA and the rest of your day."
Melissa waves as she leaves. "A pleasure doing business with you Rat God."
"Hmmm." Nezu looks at the speakers above his desk. "Adjutant, please run a full tutorial for me."
"Yes Rat God. Beginning program tutorial_01."
Nezu sighs as a holographic loads on his desk. "Well played Miss Shield."

Thirteen years later finds Sarah and Momo locked in a heated battle during one of their Saturday sparring matches as they train for UA.
Sarah ducks under Momo's punch as she throws a jab into the taller girls stomach before sliding around behind and kicking out her knee to throw Momo to the floor. Slamming her bone-wings into the mat around Momo and locking her in place as she gets Momo into a headlock. "Yield!"
Momo struggles for another moment, trying to break the headlock or toss Sarah off of her before tapping the mat three times. "Damnit Sarah, I'll beat you one of these days."
Sarah scoffs as she lets momo up. "You say that like you don't have me beat at any range over 5 meters."
"That's because we don't use your swarm in spars and you know it, those hydralisks you made would snipe me from 200 meters."
Sarah shrugs. "Sure, but I don't want to be reliant on just the swarm for resolving fights." Sarah lays back on the mat. "I think we should get you some support gear for your longer range fights, maybe a sniper rifle?"
Momo shivers as she drinks from her water. "My dad mentioned recruiting a support specialist from I-island for some assistance. Apparently he got a call from one of his old contacts on the island who said she was going to work on applying to UA next year and needed a place to stay while attending. Dad being Dad invited her to stay here in exchange for helping us with our gear."
"Oooh, what's their name? Anyone we know?"
A smug smile spreads across Momo’s face. "Melissa shield."
Sarah gasps and tackles Momo. "No way! She's a support gear celebrity!" Sarah squeals as she settles on her friend. "Momo this is huge, we're going to be so set up for UA they won't know what hit them."
Momo wheezes as Sarah lays on top of her. "Sarah, Babe, best friend. Get the fuck off of me."
"Oh, right yeah. Sorry." Sarah rolls off of her, letting her tail catch her as she splays her wings out behind herself, resting her head on her arm. "Not sure I'll ever get used to being like twice as dense as you, and that's saying something miss 'high density fat cells for her quirk'." Sarah sighs, letting her wings flop to the ground.
"You say that like your torso being immune to small arms fire isn't a good thing." Momo looks thoughtful. "Maybe Melissa could make body armor similar to your carapace."
Sarah sighs dreamily, red dusting her cheeks. "Must you tease me with my celebrity crush?"
Momo giggles as she sits up patting Sarah's thigh. "At least you're wearing clothes nowadays."
"It was one time! I was four!" Sarah gasps in indignant shock. She quickly summons and throws a larva at Momo before rolling onto her stomach and burning her head. "My friend is so mean to me, woe is me. How will I ever recover?"
Momo catches the larva and stands before lightly kicking her friend while she's down. "Yes yes, poor pitiful Sarah, woe be upon you with your adorable swarm and powerful mutations."
Sarah pops up and grabs her larva back from Momo. "Whatever madam 'I can make any inorganic item I want and could break the economy in minutes with a big lunch.'"
The girls stare each other down for a moment before breaking out in giggles and heading towards the gym showers to get out of their workout gear. Sarah sets the larva down and instructs it to morph into raptorlings as she gets out of her gym clothes to grab a quick shower. "Guard the doors you two." She pets the raptors as she heads to the shower.
As Sarah exits the shower area and wraps up in a towel to get dried off and dressed again she asks Momo. "Is your dad setting Melissa up with a workshop while she's here?"
Momo sits wrapped in her towel to brush out her hair. "Yeah, he's planning on setting up a workshop out back near your field since there's plenty of space for her to test out some of her inventions."
"Cool." Sarah runs a towel through her hair spines. "So I was talking with mom the other day and we figured out that my hair is a more limited version of her quirks mutation. So my hair isn't just freaky tentacles, they're actually psionic antennae."
"Oooh, so can you do your mom's jedi mind trick too?"
"Nah, the most I can do is read surface level thoughts and send a few sentences, but it gives me a headache since I'm not super used to it yet."
"Very cool. You know that sometimes it feels like your parents are a wild quirk marriage since your quirk is bullshit."
"I mean, yeah their quirks are super compatible, but they also love the heck out of each other. Just be glad you don't see them get all lovey dovey all the time, it's a wonder I don't have a younger sibling sometimes."
"Okay, moving on because I don't need to hear about any of our parents bedroom lives, thanks Sarah." She throws a smaller towel at her face. "Did you ever figure out that larva spawning creature?"
Sarah wipes the towel off her face and grabs one of her larger scrunchies her mom got her. "Yeah, I can show you later, but I think I'll call them queens, since they spawn other stuff, and the foods they're from are super weird."
"What'd you use to make them?"
Sarah gives a half grimace. "They're a mix of gator, lizard and eel. And they make this purplish mucus stuff that is just creepy to look at, but it seems to make the larva happy so I guess we're keeping it."
"Any supply issues?" Momo ties her hair back with a ribbon as they both stand to get dressed. "You were at 10 last month right?"
Sarah pulls her jeans on, using the button at the back to secure them around her tail. "Yeah, I think I'm going to take this month and see if I can figure out something to help offload some of the supply issues, it's gotta be possible since octopuses have that whole decentralized nervous system thing. So I'm hoping I can mix that and something that can burrow to hide or maybe something armored so they are harder to take out."
"Sounds fun! We can do sushi and you can try a shellfish that might do it? Maybe lobster?" Momo's musing on food are broken by her stomach rumbling. "Maybe soon I guess, I'll text the sushi chef real quick and we can eat dinner in the dining area." As they leave Sarah mentally directs the 'lings off towards the field.
After lunch Sarah and momo split off to practice their quirks, Sitting down near her field and beginning to channel her essences from her recent meal.
'So if I twist the octopus and lobster along with some of the essences from the egg in the rice…' As the strands twist and change shape, eventually she winds them into a central mass with twisting appendages that tie together in a brain-shaped husk covered in shell like chitin. 'That doesn't look too bad, let's see how it functions.'
Summoning the new creature type into the field, she sees as it rapidly grows to about two meters around and about one meter above the ground while she can tell it has spread further below ground. The slight weight along her mental shoulders lessens as it reaches its full size and she can feel it growing slightly lighter. 'Seems like that worked, let's do some tests on how many that gets me up to before I see about creating more of them.'
A few minutes later, Sarah gets up to a new maximum of 18 sets of 'lings along with her new creature. 'Seems like that each one gets me another 8 supply of creatures, let's try making another one before I figure out a name for them.' As the second one grows to its full size Sarah feels the limit reach higher again before a twinge of hunger flashes over her.
A desire to consume any and all food nearby builds at the back of her mind, easily suppressed at its current level, but a concern to be aware of for a higher supply limit. As she dismisses several of her 'lings she feels the desire lessen but remains lightly at the back of her mind.
'Okay, so I can go above my normal supply with them, but I'll need to be careful about that.' Standing and walking near the central mass of the first one she summoned, she snaps a selfie and sends it over to Momo.
Shortly after, her phone rings with Momo's contact. Momo's voice rings out as she answers. "Sarah why does it look like you're posing near a brain?"
"Hey Momo, the look super weird but the octopus and lobster worked for the supply increasing idea. Also there's possibly maybe slightly an issue with going too high over my limit."
Momo takes note of Sarah's waffling in her response. "Uh-huh, you going to go all 'queen of blades and her murder swarm' on us?"
Sarah blushes, embarrassed over the idea. "Look, we were six, we were playing heroes and villains and my mutations make me look like a great villain, okay?"
Momo steamrolls over her blustering. "Yeah, and you know I'd be with you if you take over the world, right?" Momo hmms as Sarah sputters on the other end of the line. "Anyway, what's the issue with going over your limit?"
Sarah sighs. "The issue would be that I could lose control of the swarm, they go rampant and devour all life on the planet or in the galaxy?"
"So you figured out space travel then?"
"Momo I'm being serious!"
"Yeah, but I trust you not to go over your limits to that extent and if you do I promise I'll stop you before you destroy the world, okay?"
"Okay" a soft smile finds its way onto Sarah's face. "Anyway, I'm thinking cerebrate for the name on them since they're kinda brain looking, what do you think?"
"Yeah that fits from the photo you sent. How much do they help?"
"With just one I can get up to 36 raptorlings out before hitting my limit and that whole hunger thing becomes a bit worse if I go for a second cerebrate."
"Daaaang gurl, the villains won't know what hit them. Seriously though, If you ever go villain you better have me on your side."
Sarah sputters again. "M-Momo no, I'm not going to be a villain."
"I don't know, if something ended up sending you down that path it'd have to be super messed up."
A heavy sigh comes across the line to Momo. "I promise Momo, if I go villain, you'll be invited."
"Great! Anyway, I figured out how to swap metals during the creation process from a blueprint, now I can use tungsten on my staffs."
"That's awesome Momo!" Sarah lays down on her nearby hammock, letting her wings wrap around herself and her tail flop to the side. "Think you'll start gold plating your weapons too? Maybe golden brass knuckles?"
"Maybe, I was thinking of trying to use more titanium and heavier metals like tungsten in my tools now that I can swap them in a bit easier." A similar flopping sound can be heard from Momo's end of the phone as she settles onto her couch in her training room. "I'm going to definitely have to work with Melissa when she gets here. Hopefully we can come up with some neat ideas using my quirk for quick prototyping."
"Ahh, I almost forgot she's coming here. Do you know when she'll arrive?"
Momo hmms. "Dad was pretty vague on it, but hopefully she has some time to settle in before her exams for UA."
"Agreed, celebrity crush or not, the practical exams are no joke for UA. I'm sure she has the written exams in the bag though, coming from I-Island and all."
–Sarah's swarm compendium–
Raptorling: a swarm essence created through manipulation of chicken, lizard and small quantities of dog essences. These four legged creatures have large wings along their back haunches allowing for rapid elevation changes including jumping up and down cliff edges. Their sharp mandibles at their jaw allow them to rapidly tear through many materials with assistance from two spiked claws along their front shoulder joints while stationary.
Their powerful musculature allows them to rapidly close in on a target, while their moderate armor can stop small arms fire with ease. Once Sarah began using larva for spawning her swarm units it was discovered that these raptorlings can be summoned in pairs while only taking a single supply per pair, allowing for rapid force multiplication among quick engagements with their rapid breeding pace. Their powerful quadriceps allow them to rapidly leap at a target from up to 10 meters away.
Raptorlings embody what the swarm means to both Sarah Kerrigan and her enemies as their large groups of attackers, ranging from dozens to a hundred in her pro hero years. Raptorlings attack quickly, move even faster, and scout through streets in packs as small as twos while providing information back to Sarah.
Few weaknesses are known about swarm units, though it is known among Sarah's friends that her raptorlings are allergic to lemon juice due to their odd makeup.
