Having a team of kindred spirits working towards a goal helps in this regard. Even if you wish to fly solo, you're collaborative and would benefit from teamwork and helping others, as well as allowing others to help you in return.

Dissertations, articles, or other written works of you could prove very successful and provide objectivity in a world which is ever-increasingly divisive.

You're prone to stress, however, so creating a proper work-life balance is of upmost importance. Knowing when to step away and take a break is a skill that once mastered, you'll be able to wield it in favour of your productivity and take greater leaps in your career. Remember that you work best when you're not ill, aching, and burnt out. Due to your ability to multitask and see many things through, you could work on passion projects on the side. Ex. criminologist moonlighting as a poet or a songwriter. This duality would benefit you as a side hustle which aligns with what you may consider a mere hobby could end up providing you with extra income, which you can use to take good care of yourself and make sure you get to play too.

alr this ones simple, imma list all of the (rest of the) critters and give them a role based in both in the og MLB series and the Holders AU

just to make it clear, all of the relatioships im talking about here take place before catnap joins the same hs as dogday, eventually they all (Except bubba) become friends between them

Craftycorn: Along with dogday shes an exchange student as well, but attends to a different HS, she's dogdays roomate and both get along very well, eventually from living together they become good friends. Crafty's role on this au would be Alya's on MLB, but without the ladyblog lol, on this universe crafty like alya is interested in the heroes that suddenly popped out of nowhere, and starts investigating about them out of curiosity, eventually she gets very invested in them and starts taking part of a magazine to talk about them both. She's gonna be the first to find out their identities too, she eventually connects the dots and guesses, but doesn't tell anyone

Kickin: He's childhood friends with dogday, but here they met online before dogday decided to move and study on the same country as him, They don't belong to the same HS neither, he goes to the same one as crafty and they become friends there. His role here would be Nino's on MLB, as he would become very close to catnap eventually (catnap got his second best friend yippeee), and also would end up dating crafty lol (kickincorn enthusiast)

Bobby: Bobby is childhood friends with hoppy, and she takes on luka's role on MLB as the good listener and good advice giver to dogday (no romance between them here) Her and Dogday don't exactly have a band, but them both enjoy playing music together (dd plays guitar, bobby plays bass and guitar too + she likes to sing) which made them close. They met bc of Kickin as him, bobby and hoppy were in the same elementary school and kept being good friends ever since.

Hoppy: Childhood friends with Bobby, doesnt take on any particular character's role, she was on a volleyball club with kickin on elementary school and they met there, she also works at the same bakery as dogday mostly to help piggy's family out and get paid for hanging out with friends LOL

(as a psa, theres feelings between the bear and the rabbit, they are GAY, but their relationship develops later on)

Piggy: You could say she in some way takes marinette's role here? but this marinette would not be ladybug here LOL, i stated before that dogday works part-time on a bakery, well piggy is the daughter of said bakery's owner, and she also attends the same hs as dogday and catnap, she became friends with dogday from him working there and going to the same hs as him, shes also best friends with bobby and hoppy and hang out tgt often as a trio

Bubba: This man takes on both lila and kagami's role here, but both would be against caatnap here. As i said before, prototypes an engeneer who owns a company, said company has a partnership with another one, and this company ceo's has a son, Bubba is that ceo's son, so he and catnap had met on multiple ocasions but dont get along that well (they hate each other's guts), as bubba's mindset is like prototype's and catnap is not that fond of his father lmao. When catnap gets sent to socialize, prototype asks his ceo pal to send his son and watch him so he doesn't slip away from his duties. His job is basically to keep catnap from getting away from his father lol, and so he makes his life difficult to achieve that.

the closest thing to a chloe here would be bubba? but they behave very differently so he reminds me more of lila, so i could say theres no chloe here at all, personally chloe's character is very non important to the series, her only role is to be the mean girl and maybe help akumatize some ppl, but overall the only good part about her was her redemption lol, but then they threw that away soo, nothing much to say abt her, i don't find having a Chloe here necessary at all

5. Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?

I think U1 Corby could've cried on command like... out of genuine stress. Like if they'd stopped to think about the circumstances of their life they would've burst into tears at any second. So it wouldn't have been fake it would've been real. U2 Corby hasn't yet undergone the same stress but is also a performer so I think they like... might inconsistently be able to. They probably think about emotional music to tear up.

10. What fact do they excitedly tell everyone about at every opportunity?

U1 Corby liked to share that they could do magic/had telepathic communication lol. U2 Corby absolutely can't stop trying this stupid kitschy pair of spirit glasses on every scenario ever.

15. What’s the most obvious difference between their behavior at home, at work, at school, with friends, and when they’re alone?

With friends Corby tends to take more of a backseat and let others lead/defers a lot, but at work Corby can be quite bossy and likes to take the lead/try to push things in a specific direction. It gets complicated when they're friends with their coworkers because they have an awkward tendency to try to placate while also trying to get things done. When they're alone they're probably calmer but also more like... miserable. The go-go-go of being around people is good for their brain even if it leaves them high strung.

20. Who do they like as a person but hate their work? Vice versa, whose work do they like but don’t like the person?

Very interesting question... I think growing up they probably read a lot of Lovecraft-inspired works but detest the man, as most people reasonably do. As for the other way around... I think they're one of those Nightwish fans who never got over Tarja Turunen leaving so they think Anette Olzon and Floor Jansen are objectively very talented but can't enjoy modern Nightwish albums.

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

They know a decent amount about symphonic metal and also lots of horror movie trivia. They also have a lot of experience with online occult communities and the lore of haunted dolls but funnily none of that has come up. They've got a collection of "haunted" dolls (that aren't haunted at all) (they got scammed) (they think they're cute anyways)

30. When they make a mistake and feel bad, does the guilt differ when it’s personal versus when it’s professional?

Corby is the type of person who gets really invested in their work, and especially with how intense and Important their job is they definitely tend to experience the guilt very similarly. If anything they probably feel especially guilty for mistakes in a professional setting since they feel like people are relying on them.

35. What is the smallest, morally questionable choice they’ve made?

Oh they've made so many big morally questionable decisions... that picking out a small one is pretty hard. Funnily enough their smallest questionable choice is probably okaying slides on a powerpoint that revealed an NPC's nature without asking his permission first and then pretending they had no idea what the slides meant afterwards (got sims negative relationship points for this).

40. How do they respond to a loose handshake? What goes through their head?

They'd probably get self-conscious about their own handshake being equally loose or wonder if their hands were sweaty or something haha. It would encourage them to complete the handshake as fast as possible.

45. What’s something unimportant / frivolous that they hate passionately?

I think they're a comedy movie hater. I also think they'd have extremely strong extremely negative opinions about the Twilight books but that's correct and totally important

50. What belief / moral / personality trait do they stand by that you (mun) personally don’t agree with?

Corby very strongly believes that it's like immoral to trouble other people with things they think they can solve on their own. And they're also willing to sacrifice a lot/make other people take on a lot of risk in order to protect their loved ones. I think everyone is like that to a certain extent but Corby is significantly more tight-lipped about critical information than I would be in their situation.

55. What’s something they’re expected to enjoy based on their hobbies / profession that they actually dislike / hate?

I think they actually have a pretty complex relationship with monster movies just because they don't like the general depiction of Monstrous Creatures/people. They're probably also not really interested in Wiccanism but I can imagine people think they should be with their general occult interests/magic-doing. In U2 they're a magician at a circus as well, so I'm sure people expect them to have a better sense of humor than they do LOL

Curiosity In Comments

I genuinely do love my readers being curious, and wanting more, and being invested in what I write. It’s a massive part of doing a good job of said writing, to me, at least when it comes to fics with lots of plot or intrigue!

Sometimes comments end up being rude or demanding or judgemental - I talk/reblog about rude commenters more, in some ways, than I would like. Certainly more than I do positive ones.

But this - this sort of comment - is what makes everything worth it, and is what keeps me wanting to reply to my lovely readers no matter how exhausted or stressed I am (which, I will note now, is the majority of my readers, and I adore every single one of them, whether they leave “kudos” or two comments’ worth of rambling!)

...that might have come out blurry, apologies if so, hopefully clicking on it will clear it up!

but this, to me, and several other fic writers I showed, is just such a wonderful way to show curiosity - make some comments, ask some questions, so on, but then stress that this is just them being excited as a reader, not them trying to pressure me or judge the choices I’ve made/the details I’ve shared

that blatant differentiation means so, so much

tone is really hard to get across online/in text, which I think we all know, and it can be particularly difficult when giving something that isn’t super simple or a straight-up compliment - curiosity is often something that’s really borderline in how it comes across, to me at least

so to have this comment - one so clearly excited and intrigued without putting pressure on me - was just so, so appreciated, and I really couldn’t thank my reader more for it

if you’re ever leaving a comment and worried about asking questions or giving theories, then it’s worth just mentioning that this isn’t to pressure/judge/demand anything from the writer; it can really help make the tone clear!

Kurt is that really embarrassing habit you have. Maybe he can in a bad time if your life. Possibly getting over someone or dealing with some emotional stuff. Suddenly you have this oily little guy that just gets so much validation from fucking you (honestly, being fucked by you). I think he very quickly goes into the obsessed pervert role and He thinks you’re in a real relationship when you’re absolutely not. He creeps you out but the way he looks when you’re fucking, how eager he is to please - keeps you coming back.

He’s pretty obsessed with the idea of filming you guys fucking or filming literally everything. It probably ends when you find creepshots of you he planned to post. OR you find out he’s planning on killing people for views.

you’re just kind of in a slump and you’re feeling a bit more self conscious than usual and things are not the best. and there’s this. boy. and he’s so weird and strange and off putting. but he’s also looking at you like you’re the hottest person he’s ever seen. and he’s giving you attention and he would quite literally do anything you say.

and then you’re dragging him home to your place and riding him and telling him not to talk — “don’t, don’t even say anything, ok. just . shut the fuck up please alright” — and he’s whimpering into your neck and, when he’s not talking and trying to impress you, he’s looking up at you with this genuine obsession and adoration and it feels nice. nice to be wanted nice to be desired nice to be lusted after. and so he. kind of becomes a thing. a thing you’re doing every so often when you need that little confidence boost, that little pick me up. and he’s always there, always waiting. at your beck and call really. eager even.

and at first it’s this empowering thing right? yk this guy is obsessed with you, yk he’ll do anything you tell him to. if you want him to fuck you, he will. if yiu change your mind, he’s too pathetic to fight it. if you asked him to take a bullet for you, he probably would. and you just feel this control and power that you never really felt with anything before, let alone another person, so you’re really hooked on it, this feeling of having total leverage over someone and always getting what you want, no questions asked.

but then he starts getting a little more.. bold. he’s sneaking a camera in the bedroom as he fucks you and he’s choking you a bit harder than before and he’s showing up to your house unannounced. and he’s getting a little bit too invested with you and your life, calling you constantly and asking when you get off work and knocking on your door for hours, pleading until you let him in. and then he’s saying some things that are just a touch. . concerning. like how he finally got the pistol he’s been wanting to get, and about this new thing he’s been planning with his spree job and about how he’s been interested in all these infamous serial killers of the last few decades. and now it’s confirmed he has pictures of you, VIDEOS of you, that you know he’s insane enough to leak. and now he’s telling you he loves you and he would kill for you and die for you and you have to put a stop to it. you gotta force him to delete anything about you off his phone — any texts and videos and photos and you block him on all social media — and when he just won’t quit you have to go as far as filing a restraining order to make sure he doesn’t keep showing up at your house or talking about you online or filming you without your consent. and it’s all just so fucked up and it most definitely was not worth it, but then you see all the shit go down about the murders on the news and you thank god you got out when you did

I’ve been seeing a lot of friends posting that one image that says something like “Don’t start making your resolutions for next year without acknowledging the things you’ve accomplished this year first.” That makes sense to me. Can’t know where you’re going unless you know where you’ve been.

2022

At the start of the year, I got pushed out of the job I’d been doing for over a decade. I’d become very comfortable there, despite the abuse. They took away my hours then offered me longer hours at a worse site for less pay. I took it because we didn’t have the savings to make it through if I didn’t, but it spurred me on to new heights of job searching. I eventually took a gamble on a temp position in a totally new to me industry. It was a big increase in pay, assuming I could impress them enough to stay past the initial contract. I was nervous, but I put in the effort. I excelled. My boss and his boss and her boss all fought hard to convince the budget people and in November I got converted to permanent. I was about to say “I’m still at the bottom rung” but that’s not even really true outside of my department. The point is, it’s the first job I’ve had where I could genuinely call it a career. I like the work, I like my coworkers, and I’ve had positive interactions with every layer of management including the CEO.

In May, I drew an orangutan with a sword for one of my internet friends. I hadn’t tried to draw anything more complicated than a stick figure since grade school, but I put in the time and pulled up reference and came out with something that was at least recognizable. I was a little nervous showing it to my friend, because she’s a professional artist, but she was super supportive. The next day I bought my first sketchbook. My wife encouraged me to draw every day if I wanted to get better at it, so I did. There wound up being some gaps, for practical reasons, and now that it’s a habit I take the occasional day off. And you know what? It worked. I’ve filled two sketchbooks, plus half of a travel sketchbook, plus some digital pieces. The drawings I’m producing now aren’t professional quality or anything, but if you put them side by side with the earlier stuff it’s easy to see that practice works.

In August I had my dick cut off. That involved quite a few days of missing out on drawing practice. It had been in the works for over a year by that point. I’m not rolling in cash, so I had to chart a course that would appease our health insurance. Luckily, I live in a place with pretty strict laws about how insurers have to behave with regards to gender affirming care. Also luckily I had started my new job that I could do while lying in bed as long as I had my work laptop and wasn’t taking opiates. I couldn’t do the kind of walking or even sitting upright that my old security job needed for over 2 months, but my mind worked just fine.

I also made new friends this year. I won’t call you all out, but I think I know who you are.

I made a new personal website as a hub for my online presence because individual social media platforms are so unstable.

I read over my resolutions from last year. None of them had anything to do with any of this stuff. They were: Stay Invested in my new ttrpg campaign; make a new card game or remake one of my existing ones; remember to promote the games I have for sale more often; continue working on my self-photography skills; and treat myself gently. Of those, I only did the photography one. So, let’s bear that in mind as I lay out some goals for next year.

2023

Make a new card game or remake one of the ones I’ve pulled from circulation. Now that I’m doing my own art stuff, it should be easier than ever to make a game. I just have to do it.

Draw more. Keep improving. Specifically, draw more naked ladies than I did in 2022. In 2022 I made 29 drawings of 6 naked ladies (7 if you count the clothed model that I turned into a building sized naked monster), so I’ll need to arrange at least 30 drawings and 8 models. I’ve got 3 already lined up. Got to find at least 5 volunteers to help provide reference. (My DMs are open.)

Sing more. Consider learning an instrument. Not a mouth instrument, one I can do while singing.

This time for real, treat myself gently.

OVERVIEW:

JIKIRO TAKAMI is only the latest in his ancient East Alternian bloodline, which means he’s the current heir of the ancestral ink-making business. A prankster lusus and several accomplished older signmates have given him both humility and a wry sense of humor, useful qualities as he navigates the cutthroat highblood business world and tries to keep all his limbs attached.

He can create inks with magical properties and perform minor feats himself, usually of an illusory nature, though he is capable of other things as well. Strife: Kiseru. He can club someone with it, or use it as a conduit for his magic and smoke-based attacks.

Sylladex: Symbol. Each card is coded to a symbol he has to draw to get it out.

Hive: A fancy estate on the ancestral lands furnished very comfortably and with very good security. No one can come or go without Hanabi knowing (though being the trickster she is, that doesn’t always mean she’ll give them up to Jikiro).

Ancestor(s): The very first Takami was the Inkblade, but Jikiro’s current oldest signmate is part of the fleet and there are a few others extant.

Constellation: None. His symbol is the alchemical one for ink.

Interests: Ingredient Hunting - Jikiro loves to track down new, unusual ingredients for inks, and this process takes him all across Alternia. He might wind up in the depths of a city or a wild, isolated mountain in search of just the right thing.

Painting - He isn’t very creative visually, but Jikiro is good at reproducing animals and plants in ink, partially to make accurate records for his ingredient hunting.

Business - While also his job, Jikiro is genuinely very invested in running the ancestral business and is always looking to make new connections and maintain the good business relationships he has.

Name, source, job (if it applies), personality, or other information you think is necessary! frank is the proprietor‏‏‎ ‎of‏‏‎ ‎toy‏‏‎ ‎zone, the tiny town of‏‏‎ ‎hatchetfield's‏‏‎ ‎largest (and possibly only?) toy store. hf!nyx works at the store, and moonlights as machin3gh0st, a semi-famous twitch streamer among lgbt+ nerds. fun fact! my s/i's last name is hawthorne, which is because at one point they used to be related‏‏‎ ‎to‏‏‎ ‎linda‏‏‎ ‎and‏‏‎ ‎i‏‏‎ ‎read a fic where her maiden name was hawthorne. then it was revealed to not be hawthorne and she was pretty heavily implied to be an only child but i kept the name because it was cool.

Did they know of each others’ existence beforehand? they first met when hf!nyx filled out a job application, lol. i feel like they went to the same high school but were a couple years apart so they interacted very rarely if at all. maybe they were in a play together once.

* How did they behave in the beginning of they relationship? What did they think of each other? What do they think of each other now, & how do they currently behave? when they first met they hated each other. tee hee. hf!nyx thinks frank is a loser capitalist and frank thinks hf!nyx is a lazy slacker. if you're talking about the beginning of their relationship...it was weird because neither of them had really dated in a while and they were thinking it would be a casual thing and then they both got. erm. invested.

* Were there any huge turning points that changed how your S/I or F/O(s) saw each other, or was it gradual? Describe it to us! i don't know how to say this without making it incredibly sad in some way but um. when frank first started showing actual vulnerability i guess. much like his employees he is genuinely just trying to survive. i feel like once hf!nyx learns about basically. any of the things in daddy that are revealed about frank (amazon hater, dog owner, genuinely passionate about toys) they start to kind of soften towards him. for frank he just spent more time around them and realized that they actually did care about stuff, they just show it in an atypical way. they care a Lot, actually.

* Tell us about a defining moment in the self-ship lore (for example - the most impactful moment, a moment your S/I and F/O reminisce over all the time, a moment that fans of the self-ship would see as the “ship’s iconic scene”, etc.)! the coffee scene that i wrote into that one fanfic. if it was canon people would be all over that. (he buys hf!nyx a drink as payment for them working an extra shift. there is more to it than that but it's the basics of it. they smile a real genuine smile in his presence for the first time.) ERM. now i think they need to have a moment where they bond over their passions for stuff they like and agree with each other on the great online shopping debate. you need to see the stuff for real!!

* If discussing a Romantic F/O, who confessed their feelings first and where/when? Did it go smoothly? frank does probably. it's not a big affair they're both hanging out as we close up shop and he asks if they want to go on a real date with him at some point. hf!nyx sort of chokes a little and think he's playing some mean prank at first but then he seems genuinely hurt and they realize he's for real about it. it's a little awkward. they recover.

* Do your S/I and F/O(s) have any nicknames for each other? What are they? erm. i don't know if they have pet names exactly but i feel like frank uses like "babe" and "sweetheart" semi-ironically (he's more likely to use them sarcastically than in a genuinely romantic moment) and they both refer to each other by last name sometimes in an affectionate way.

* How did their first time hanging out/going on a date go? What did they do? they didn't call it an official date at the time but they went to see a shlocky alien invasion movie together one time after work as a Casual Platonic Hangout Thing. the movie was kind of silly but it got hf!nyx talking about about famous alien movies and their common tropes and frank wondering about the special effects they used so in the end it was a bonding experience.

* Has your S/I had any slumber parties (or in general late nights out) with your F/O(s)? How did those go? i don't know if they ever saw each others' houses/apartments before they were dating though they may have walked each other home before. after they become actual friends they might spend late nights together. maybe at miss‏‏‎ ‏‏‎ ‎holloway's diner, maybe just sitting in the mall.

* Do your S/I and F/O(s) live together? If so, where? probably they move in together pretty soon after dating because owning property is Expensive and it helps to have someone else paying rent. in the main storyline (daddy never happens) they just buy a slightly bigger apartment (2 bedrooms because they feel awkward sleeping in the same bed for a little while. and they are both vicious blanket thieves). in the post-daddy universe frank lives in the youngs' mansion for a little while but he can't really get comfortable there so he sells it and they both move into a nice but regular-sized house.

* What love languages do your S/I & F/O(s) have? hf!nyx is a words of affirmation kinda person which is unexpected of them because they basically communicate almost exclusively in sarcasm to people they don't know well. so affection for them almost always comes through very genuine words. frank likes quality time probably. it doesn't matter what they're doing as long as they're doing it together yknow. also what they consider quality time is usually mocking a shitty tv show while curled up on the couch. true romance.

* Did your S/I or F/Os make any friends from each others’ friend groups (like, does your S/I have any friends they met through F/O, or vice versa)? they all know the same people‏‏‎‏‏‏‏‎ ‎‎‎hatchetfield‏‏‎‏‏‏‏‎ ‎‎is a small place. but hf!nyx met lex through working at toy‏‏‎ ‎zone‏‏‎ ‎does‏‏‎ ‎that count. they are mutual friends of‏‏‎ ‎miss‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎holloway‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‎and‏‏‎ ‎she‏‏‎ ‎ships them. she isn't subtle about it.

* What does your S/I’s family think about your F/O(s), or what does your F/O(s)’s family think about your S/I? i feel like hf!nyx's family thinks frank is surprisingly Normal? while‏‏‎ ‎hatchetfield‏‏‎ ‎below the surface is deeply fucked up a lot of its residents are kind of just some guys. hf!nyx's parents are definitely very average in that regard which makes their kid who never grew out of their freaky goth phase just seem weirder. they kind of thought they would bring home an equally weird partner. but this guy is like. relatively unassuming for the most part. they like him and they're happy their kid is happy but it's a shock to them. i think frank's family is implied dead but i think their reaction would probably be the reverse of this. actually maybe not he's already a rebellious child apparently this is just an extension of that.

* Is there symbolism/an aesthetic that you associate with your self-ship? it's a little bit about nostalgia now that i think about it. nostalgia, the fixing of old things, the new in package smell of something you just bought. ALSO THIS SONG. something about the diverging timelines and hf!nyx being able to see them but still having faith that everything will be okay for them in the end. i have specific thoughts about specific lines but i won't get into it all.

* Are there any tropes that apply to your self-ship? enemies to lovers of course :) and idk boss-employee but those two together make this sound like an awful trashy romance novel so let me make it clear that other than job position-wise frank is Not the dominant party in this relationship. i mean we are equals and we communicate and all but he is my malewife. this is a constant for all of my ships with men.
