#GUYS I WROTE SOMWTHING LOL
Mason you should give Rudy and Clyde something spicy to eat?
“Come on,” laughed Neal, waving the chip closer to Mason’s face. “they’re not babies! This salsa is not even that spicy.”
“It might not be to you, but anything will be spicy to them,” Mason responded, putting down his own fork.
“Mason honestly you coddle them way too much. Rudy, do you want to try this?”
Per usual, both pets had been in the living room, Rudy leaning against the couch with Clyde pretending to look out the window.
At the question, Rudy immediately looked to Mason. He hasn’t sounded happy about the idea, and Rudy didn’t want to misbehave.
“It’s spicy - it’s like a really really strong taste that almost hurts.”
“Stop scaring him!” Neal interjected. “Look, Rudy, it doesn’t hurt. It’s good! It’s kinda fun.”
Feeling Mason’s eyes heavily on him, Rudy silently shook his head and pulled away. Master obviously didn’t want him to - even though he said it was okay. Oh, this was confusing, he didn’t want to try and figure it out. Better just not.
Neal looked a bit annoyed, though. “Fine. Hey Bugs, you wanna try?”
Like the other pet, Clyde first turned to Mason, who only rolled his eyes and made a vague gesture, mouth full.
“Yes, Please.”
Neal grinned and held out the chip with some salsa for the boy to take.
It was… different.
Clyde grimaced after he swallowed, completely unfamiliar with the sensation. It wasn’t bad, just strong and different.
“See? I told you they wouldn’t like it. Get some water Clyde.”
Clyde obeyed and stood, overhearing Neal complain about something to do with milk as he left. In the kitchen he paused.
He didn’t dislike it.
It was far more compelling to eat than what they usually did. He would like more, actually. Maybe he would like it more the next time, maybe it would grow on him. But he wasn’t going to get a next time, because Master thought he didn’t like it. That he couldn’t handle it.
Clyde felt a dull ache in his chest and rubbed it with the heel of his hand. Master said it might hurt but he didn’t expect it to feel like this.
