no bc why is the entire like centuries old art tradition(s) of an entire subcontinent condensed into "Indian classical" but "celtic" and "British folk" are two different things despite the fact the concept of irish trad being "celtic" dates back to like. the 1960s at the earliest. (and there is more variance within 'british folk' and 'celtic' than between them) and then like ppl who listen exclusively to quirky popular music will get told they listened to 918 genres and their top genres will all be things like neo-art pop and indie fusionwave

and its like what's even the point anymore if every pop artist is their own genre and the entire name of the game is just making people feel special and individual so they can say omg you guys im soooooo quirky i listened to hozier (celtic soul folk) and mitski (indie folk punk) and taylor swift (alternative folk-pop chamber rock) and then throw in any artist that isnt from an english speaking country for an elevated level of quirkiness even if it just yet more bland pop music but in korean this time

#n jpop is my 5th genre solely bc of how much I listened to mishio ogawa this year and its like #what does she have in common w like perfume or whatever #apart frm being japanese #like ill agree quirky japanese bubble era stuff is kind of its own vibe n most other artists I would group as being similar 2 her are #also japanese. but like its more about a cultural moment in time thn like a locality #so jpop is not the label I would choose to encapsulate the genre at all

Malaysia's 10 Best Contemporary Designers: Fusing Luxury and Edge

Multicultural Malaysia is quick getting one of the design and style world's hotspots. From the inventive, propelled interior designs of paul+pris, the natural, high quality beautifying things of Jurema Creations, to the universally eminent style designers Melinda Looi and Bernard Chandran, we present ten designers molding Malaysia's craft and design scene.

Paul+pris are Pauline and Priscilla Ng, two sisters who share an energy for making designs that are brave and inventive. Both Pauline and Priscilla were instructed in the United Kingdom and increased considerable experience in engineering, marking, and interior design with firms in both Malaysia and abroad. After setting up paul+pris in 2008, the sisters chose to have some expertise in interior design and bespoke furniture with the expectation of making spaces and articles for business and residential purposes that are both significant and energizing. Their designs have been highlighted in the magazines Home and Décor and Commercial Concept, and in 2012 their design for DiGi Telecommunication's office was exceptionally recognized in the Office Interior Design classification at the Asia Pacific International Property Awards. The rousing and fun office design highlighted brilliant complement colors, fake grass cover and shared 'cases' for unwinding or brainstorming with colleagues.

Fusionwave

Fusionwave is an advanced imaginative office and the brainchild of Luk Chee Chew who established the organization in March 2002. The organization's administrations incorporate web and intelligent design, movement illustrations, print media and item advancement. Colleagues from Fusionwave are regularly welcome to instruct sight and sound courses in nearby schools and colleges, assisting with motivating the up and coming age of Malaysian designers. In 2010 the organization created Dweey, an item and brand brought about by Chee Chew, which was obtained by toy creation organization Toy Minister in the same year. Dweey is a charming and fun 'workmanship toy' collectible range in various eye-getting designs and colors that began life as an animation giraffe character. The range as of now incorporates carefully assembled soft toys and useful 8GB USB streak drives. In 2012, Dweey was selected in the Best DIY Platform Toy class at the USA's Designer Toy Awards.

Studio Bikin

Set up in 2011, Studio Bikin is a multi-disciplinary firm having some expertise in engineering, interior design and furniture design. Capable organizers and friends chiefs Farah Azizan and Adela, who were both instructed at London's Architectural Association and the University of Cambridge individually, are enthusiastic about the specialty of design and focused on making works that blend work and play. Their structural and interior design activities to date incorporate the classy yet loosening up Hit and Mrs café in Kuala Lumpur and the advanced looking façade of Kuala Lumpur's Maarof Gallery. The studio has as of late created Kedai Bikin, a line of Malaysian-made furniture things, light fittings and frill made in collaboration with nearby designers and craftspeople. The Kedai Bikin extend incorporates Mr Gould 2, an unwinding, low-threw seat made with a solid steel edge and rattan weave seating.

Bernard Chandran

Hailed as Malaysia's King of Fashion, Bernard Chandran's distinguished profession started locally while learning at Kuala Lumpur's International Fashion Training Center before increasing a place at the famous Paris Fashion School in France where he proceeded to turn into the first non-European champ of the 1991 Open European Contest for Look of the Year. Bernard has since won a plenty of grants including Designer of the Year at the 2003 Malaysian International Fashion Awards, and has become something of a TV character showing up as boss designer on Project Runway Malaysia and a visitor judge on Britain's Next Top Model. Bernard's designs have gotten a most loved with contemporary pop symbols, with Lady Gaga, Rhianna and Estelle much of the time found in his manifestations. His Autumn Winter 2013-14 collection, appeared at London Fashion Week, is a contemporary understanding of womanliness highlighting refined silk designs in earthy colors, whites and blacks.
