#Fuck Planetina

I don't think we truly appreciate how much of a pathetic old man Rick really is. Let's anaylze his most pathetic moment, the whole Vindicators episode, dude literally wanted his 14-year-old grandson (Who is also like his only real close friend) to admire him SO BAD that when he admired someone else, he got drunker than we've ever seen him before, and was still jealous afterwards, dude legit says "That's why you pretenious, overwritten, high-budget friends over there can eat a double decker shit sandwhich." Like dude, I can smell the jealously through the screen
Then in the planetina episode (Fuck Planetina by the way) We again see Rick's jealously and getting drunk when Morty admires Planetina, he also loudly praises Summer as his favorite grandkid in earshot of Morty, then says "Fuck love!" with a lot of beer cans in the back of the car, Rick cannot handle Morty admiring other people, he's so pathetic I love him
And in the Juricksic Mort episode, he literally falls down a hole while trying to skateboard down it because "It looked so easy in Tony Hawk Proskater 3!" Ahhhh I love my pathetic old man <3 Then a bit later he ruffles Morty hair and Morty says "Don't touch me! Your hands are greasy!"
So in conclusion, Rick is an incredibly pathetic, jealous, old man and I love him so much for it.

Question for both of you: Since you're both ladies' men, of the other's love interests over the years, which one did you like the most and which one did you like the least?
Diane. Fuck I love her. I loved her so fucking much. I- Fucking god.
*Morty pats Rick's back* I-It's ok Rick....s-she loves you too....
*Rick hugs Morty and Morty pats his back*
N-now who was your least favorite?
I..I don't....I don't fucking know...I...fuck I loved them all, I hate this fucking truth serum.
*Morty started stroking Rick's hair* It'll be ok Rick...my favorite uhm....I think Jessica? She's the most consistent...the one I liked the least..maybe Planetina...I mean I loved her but...she was a murderer...

Never thought of this before (and this is possibly too good-faith of a theory), but I wonder if we'll get a follow up on Morty and Planetina.
I tend to forget that the newer seasons are leaning away from that 'one-and-done' vibe and that they now often follow up on in-universe canon that's being established on screen. They almost always have a follow up episode to events if you give them a couple of seasons. I assumed that they were never going to outright condemn Planetina (despite coding her as predatory and making references to Morty's age throughout the entire episode) because of Morty's past interactions with older women. Now, I'm wondering if that was intentional so it could be explicitly addressed in a later episode where Morty has to confront what happened to him.
Especially with that scene where Morty watches therapy-themed porn eerily apathetically, I think it's a real possibility that they might revisit how those sorts of incidents have permanently effected him. It didn't read as a joke to me. He wasn't even into it. It just felt deeply sad.
It's true that a lot of victims don't realize just how fucked up the dynamic was with the person who groomed them until quite a while later. I guess I totally overlooked the possibility that they were playing the long game on that one because I wanted the plotline wrapped up neatly in one episode. If they're keeping with the theme of recontextualizing early-series 'gags', Planetina tees them up perfectly for that, considering episodes like 'Rest and Ricklaxation.' It also gives them the opportunity to give Morty's character justice. I have hope that Season 8 will be more Morty-focused, anyway, considering that the last few seasons have been neglecting him and we've gotten a lot of smaller details that he's literally crying for help at this point.
I know some people criticize ‘A Rickconvenient Mort’ for being a tad too dark (which I personally don’t mind, but it’s out there). Maybe confronting that head-on would’ve officially tipped it over that threshold.
If the day they address it ever comes, I'll give the show a genuine round of applause. Gotta have a little bit of faith, even if it seems unlikely.

My thoughts are jumbled and all over the place but honestly i just wanted to rant abt the new ep bc OMG!
newest ep of Rick and Morty was literally (almost) what i predicted. Like, I didn’t say it on Tumblr and I’m mad I don’t have record of this but the idea of Rick being faced with the choice of saving a life or leaving was literally in my mental notes of things rnm should do. Like the character development!!! And the fucking idea that Rick probably saw HIMSELF in Piss Master; like people calling him a shitty dude, the suicide scene and his face after reading the letter (Just like the fucking Unity episode!!! Before he tries to take his own life FUCK omggg). AND PISS MASTERS DAUGHTER!!! How Rick was probably thinking of Beth in that moment and how he himself tried to commit in his own daughters house (the father / daughter relationships in this show man, fuuuck), MAN that was a crazy scene. I remember watching the Unity episode going ‘damn’ and seeing the newer episodes of rnm still provoking that exact same feeling from me is insane writing. Man was going through it.
The way the writers handled the whole suicide thing was so well done as well, like it’s a comedy and in the past a lot of comedies find it hard to tackle serious topics but rnm does this stuff perfectly! The Piss Master thing for example, Mr Jellybean even Planetina and the Morty and Beth afterwards ectect.
Analyse piss was honest to god, such a good episode! god, is was so heart wrenching I loved it!! The character development, not just from Rick but from Morty near the end of the ep. Like he doesn’t deal with Rick bs anymore, if he’s uncomfortable with smth he’ll speak up now. AND Jerry too! man actually stood up for his daughter! like he went from leaving Beth to fend for herself against a random homeless man to fighting a man who controls piss for his daughter!!! LOVE!!!
And I love how the ending is bittersweet! there’s still so much for the family to get through to actually be a healthy functioning family. Like Rick needs a friend, like now! Because he really can’t just trauma dump on Morty like that. But even then I can understand why he did and it makes me feel even more ARUGH! Like let Rick have Birdperson again, or like that guy from the toilet ep, or have Dr Wong in more episodes!!! Like he really should have gone to Dr Wong bc the whole Piss Master thing was clearly bugging him.
AND OFC DR WONG!!! I LOVE her character, the way she is able to have Rick listen to her just like that! She’s so intelligent and is practically the opposite to Rick in the way she is more smart emotionally rather than all that scifi shit. OMG and Rick falling for her bait where she eggs him on to try and ‘prove her wrong’ (THE INDIRECT THERAPY AHHH! When he realises she was right and that he ended up getting everything he asked for = therapy is good omgggg). I loved how the episode wasn’t just Rick sitting in her office going through his bullshit. Rick dealing with his issues through a more indirect way is def in character for him and more realistic for the show. I really hope we see Wong more in future episodes cause she is just mauw! I just love the way therapy is treated as a great thing in this show, bc I know my own experience at first was daunting but in the end (like Rick) lot of people realise just how great talking to a therapist is.
Just overall, a great episode, great writing, funny, sad, a very satisfying ep to watch.

Tumblr media
{ OOC } 1. I could just say the usual things, but I kinda wanna talk about something that really irks me and it's constant reminders. Close friends who do it like very rarely is one thing, but like if someone keeps hounding me / spamming me with "Are we gonna finish this thread?" "Do you wanna write with me today?" "We have this thread, are you gonna continue it?" It's just really annoying. Even if you word it in a way where you sound shy or hesitant. It sort of pisses me off because the answer is obvious. Yes, I want to write and continue the thread. I'm a fucking slow ass writer. It takes me a while to come up with a reply and when I do, it takes me even longer to write it. Not only that, but I have a life outside of roleplaying. If you ever want to ask me questions like that, don't. Just assume the answer is "yes" and save both of us the tedious conversation. If I didn't want to continue writing with you or the thread, I'll come to you to say "Yeah, hey, I don't want to do this anymore." Simple as that.
Same goes for people messaging in my inbox (instead of IMs) asking "Hey, can we roleplay?" It makes me feel awkward, especially if we're not mutuals. And I have no choice but to answer it publicly because it's in the inbox. If you want a less humiliating rejection, go in the IMs.
2. Damn, a ship I wish to write. Honestly, there aren't many ships that I haven't gotten the chance to write. I've done the Rick selfcest (🥰), Rick and BP, Morty and Jessica, Morty and Planetina. I even did a short thread of Rick and Mr. Nimbus over on Discord once. But, for ship dynamics, I'm still looking for enemies with benefits. It's just something I really want. I want that toxic kind of dynamic where they both hate each other and the tension is so heavy they have to fuck it out of each other.
3. From the parts of the fandom that I frequent, I like the fact that it's small and the theories that come out of it. I mostly look at two certain blogs for insight and theories, ones of which that line up with my own as well. Also the fanart is just -chef's kiss- impeccable and don't get me started on some of the writers / roleplayers (including you, Scotty, you're like the highest on my list of favorite R&M writers/roleplayers~ and no i'm not biased, it's the truth u-u)

Remember when Rick was trapped by aliens trying to get the formula for his teleporter and his first reaction to test things was to have himself and Morty strip and run around naked? Like the ship elements are not new lmao
LITERALLY. Like, honestly, people watching the wedding and being "it's time to cancel this show" were never real fans. You can't convince me otherwise when this show went above and beyond to tell the audience they don't give a fucking fuck. Also the inherent double standard of being perfectly okay with Morty having sexual relationships with multiple older women (including Planetina, that must be around Rick's age at the very least), but the moment it's implied he does anything with his grandpa suddenly it's going too far, suddenly it got too real and we need to do something about it! Like, fair enough, you don't like the incest. You don't like the age gap between a grandpa and grandson. That is perfectly fine and understandable. Even think about the ship makes you sick to your stomach. Fine. You are entitled to feel that way. But if you are like that, why are you even watching at this point? If by fucking season six of this show you haven't learned that this ISN'T for you, that isn't made for people like you in mind and, more important, the creator will never cater to you, why the fuck are you even sticking around? Just fucking go. Nobody is forcing you to still watching a show that IT WASN'T MADE FOR YOU. This show literally had any cultural relevancy because it was edgy and didn't give a fuck. But now there's too many fucks that have been ungiven, so the show needs to change to fit our preferences. Give me a fucking break.

I really hope season 7 lives up to its promise that it will be a more darker, bleaker season for Rick because I feel like Rick, the main protagonist himself hasn’t gotten much drama as of late. I love season 1 Rick but he has evolved past this seemingly simple, happy go lucky guy who says “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub” for no reason. The series has evolved past being this simple generic adult cartoon with raunchy and lowbrow humor. It is now a gritty series about story, drama, and character development and the fact that the main character isn’t getting much emotional conflict himself is very strange after getting more depth on him in seasons 2 and 4. I think Rick has a lot of potential and he had a lot of potential for emotional conflict and drama concerning his character development but it was done very shallowly and poorly. It’s very strange how Morty is getting a lot more emotional scenes and depth than Rick has these past two seasons and even minor characters like Planetina, Pissmaster, and Rickbot are getting more drama and emotional complexity than the main character is. MORTY WAS LITERALLY THE ONE TO SPIRAL DURING THE TWO CROW SHIT INSTEAD OF RICK LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE!
We haven’t seen Rick depressed since the season 4 finale, very little, very brief scenes of Rick feeling sad like the very beginning of Mort Dinner Rick Andre which nobody remembers and wasn’t even really played for drama in the first place. I did like seeing him talk with Diane’s AI but again, it was fairly short and didn’t come with any emotional consequences. It was just him accepting that he had to move on, it wasn’t like he got hit hard with something like the Tony, Wedding, Unity, and Space Beth episodes.
We missed out on an opportunity of seeing Rick’s internal emotional conflict/guilt of replacing his family with crows. Even though the premise itself was shitty and had no chance of being good, at least it would’ve been a bit better if we they had focused less on Rick being a psychopath with no attachment or empathy and more on Rick having humanity and emotion. Rick missing his family and feeling guilt at what he’s done rather than brief expressions of wistfulness and fucking around with crows and such like he doesn’t care about his family. We could’ve had a serious conversation between Rick and Morty regarding the last two season 5 episodes and more emotion from Rick after showing Morty his backstory.
Hell, with Rick growing as much as he did, I was hoping to see an actual scene of him breaking down in remorse over everything he’s done. At least it would be fitting for his entire character unlike the sudden burst of growth he had. It also would’ve been interesting to see him experience cabin fever after losing the portal gun. Somebody else pointed this out and I didn’t think about it before but now I think it would’ve made all the more sense if Rick hadn’t grown as much as he did. Without portal gun and adventures and constantly stressing out over fixing it, it would’ve made more sense to have Rick a bit more moody, depressed, and easily irritated with people than usual but not outright cruel like in seasons 3 and 4. I also wish they explored Rick Prime a bit more. It felt a bit sudden that Rick decided to put off thinking about Prime this much in the season after being closer to finding him. That also would’ve added to the stress that would’ve made all the character development in season 6 even more moot... not that it made sense anyway but yeah.
Like I said this kinda goes with my disappointment on how light season 6 was on the stakes and how they’ve been doing Rick’s character these past two seasons. Turning him from one of the most emotionally complex characters to a shell of his former self. Seeing him regress to being at his worst is very intriguing and I do hope they actually do him right this time, give him more emotional stakes, have him struggle with growing and not pull another “Two Crows” shit. This is why I think the Pissmaster episode is the closest thing to a decent episode in season 6. Even though Rick wasn’t given as much depth or emotion as I would’ve liked and still had the ongoing growth that was hard to take seriously, at least they still tried to develop Rick. They tried to give him a bit more humanity. They actually TRIED growing him in a more proper way by giving him actual consequences, having him go to therapy after getting burdened by bad guys instead of being like “Hey, these two crows taught me empathy” for no reason and taking note of the lessons he learned in the Old Man and the Seat.
Also how about give Rick more consequences. I feel like he’s been too light on the consequences lately. There is no way you can get away with Rick having no tragic stakes with him being at his lowest point and pursuing revenge.

Contemplating making another AU meg. Not exactly an evil meg verse but she'd only be different by who the object of her affection is. Being a regular morty rather than an evil morty. She'd still be obsessive and have the same violent and murderous yandere tendencies.
I like the idea of morty being in the dark about her true nature for awhile. They do end up dating and I'm thinking he falls in love with her and just realizes too late how fucked up she is. Similar to how things went down with planetina. So I guess I would call this yandere verse meg. She's so similar to evil meg and they'd probably get along tbh.

Also the point of that Planetina analysis wasn't to point out how fucked up the episode was... because you could literally do that with every single episode. It was more about trying to get people to not immediately discredit the writers. It was more about being against the idea that depiction = glorification. We need to get that out of our systems, or we're gonna be more screwed up.

Standing there at the window, searching the angered face, Morty was taken aback by what was said. Apparently he was the only one who moved on between the two of them. And she wasn't happy about it.
What did it matter to him, though? He stopped caring about her after the second week of their break-up. Those days when he could barely function due to how hurt he was. But he got out of it and thank fuck that he did.
And now being with Meg, someone who treats him so well. Who's so precious to him. He's never been happier with anyone else. Meg is probably his One. Even if they're too young to tell yet, it just felt right.
Tumblr media
"Y-Yeah, I do," Those were the most confidently spoken words he's ever said. "I-I love her now, I-I'm in love with her. Sh-She doesn't destroy things a-and ruin innocent people's lives!"
The memory of that day sprung forward. All of the fire, the death, the protesting. It started out good, destroying rich people's homes, then it came down to ruining innocent people's lives. The lives of people who probably didn't have much and that sort of job was all they had.
She was destructive and he couldn't handle that.
Stepping forward, he began to close the window. "Goodnight, Planetina, j-just leave me and Meg alone." In one swoop, it fell shut and he walked himself over towards his bed.
