#Follows His Creed (Eizen)

"There."
Admittedly, just setting up the game had probably been more work than playing the game itself. Eizen had finally finished, though. In the center of his setup was essentially a child's swimming pool filled with water. Plastic fish floated peacefully in the water, each identified by a number written in marker. Each fish also had a magnetic spot on them, set up just so the fishing rods could pick them up. Said fishing rods were leaning against the side of his booth. Not because Eizen was predicting he would get a great number of players, though.
Behind his stall was a few rows of different prizes. Most of the prizes consisted of plush animals that were dressed as pirates. Some looked like they had their own fishing outfits. There were little wooden ships, too, but only a couple. Lastly, there were several bags of pirate themed candy. Chocolate coins, little gummies shaped like jewels and pirate hats, and even tiny hard candies that looked like pirate hooks.
Now all he had to do was advertise.
Tumblr media
"Feel like taking a break from some of the other games? Come give the old Pirate Fishing Cove a try. You could win any of these prizes. Just depends on the number of the fish. Feelin' lucky?" Eizen knew there was a good chance that his Reaper's Curse could crop up and make the game difficult to win. He was determined to make it work anyway.

Tales of Berseria Analysis - Laphicet (Phi)’s and Eizen’s character arcs - Coexistence and Romanticism.
Three and counting.
I don’t have problem with child characters (And when I talk about child characters, I mean genuine child characters, no adults or teenagers looking like children or immortal children or characters that age different and looks like child but in reality are legally adults…they are a complete different subject)…conceptually. I don’t like when they are used as plot devices, I don’t like when they are pointless and I specially dislike when they behave like fucking adults without a motive.
…Therefore you may suppose that I really like Elise from Xillia
Tumblr media
…and you would be right reader, I love her, she is a great character and Teepo would be the best Tales mascot if not for Rollo…
Tumblr media
(…He is a god in comparison with other anime (Videogame) mascots…)
But if you want to have a child character, with clear motives, good development, a meaningful arc, etc. I say go for it, and make it great…and Laphicet (Phi) is indeed great.
First of all, he is adorable, he can cast Indignation and he also is the middle-ground between emotion and reason that the game wants to reach.
If Eleanor is the constant inner-conflict between the ideas, Phi would be their natural coexistence.
Phi starts as blank page, a puppet just referred as Number 2 and a representation of the Malakin subdue for the Abbey, then he is “taken” from Teresa and joins for the party and then…he just start to learn, to grow, to know these flawed people…and even if he cannot understand the totality of each one, he can acknowledge the inner goodness that he sees in each one of them. And in that matter, we as the players get to know a lot more of the cast trough his interaction with him (Eleanor also serves to this purpose but is with Phi that we get to know the best of the party because…). He is an adorable, cute and innocent child and the party, conscientiously or not, TRIES (and I emphasize the tries, because wanting it or not, the Menagerie is still the Menagerie and there is still conflict here, these most notorious been Velvet’s seen him as a replace for her brother, that gets resolve in a really heartwarming scene, I loved that scene… or Rokuro intent to kill him during the encounter with Kurogane) to be the best to him, teaching him, explaining and in reward we, and Phi, have this amazing little insiders for each one of the party members; Velvet’s first redeemable traits are shown us thanks to her interactions with Phi, seen Rokuro and Eizen playing the wiser older brothers is hilarious, Am I right, Rhinostragros? But it also let see us that Rokuro and Eizen have a genuine concern about been good examples for Phi with they “Don’t be like us” and fuck it, some of the first shades to Magilou’s true character are through her interaction with Phi. And in the end he takes the best all of this knowledge and experiences, this great and epic journey, and grows thanks to that travel.
He is the moral compass of these less than perfect people (Eleanor also tries to play this role, although with less success than Phi) and thanks to him we get to know the better of them.
He is also the best developed character in the cast and seen him grow from this helpless and quiet child to this determined badass who will fight for what he thinks is right (And been honest, leaving Magilou’s monologues to Melchior, he has the best scenes in the game)
“Eat my arm! I don’t care just leave me the other one! I need It to clobber the jerk who made my Velvet cry!”)
It is just fucking amazing.
In regard as his ending as Maotelus (And his eventual fate in Zestiria)…Is fitting. This kid that was nourished for this amazing journey with Velvet and the Menagerie, for all of these different experiences, points of views and teachings…He grows assimilating both ideologies and now he stands as the ideal manifestation (With Eleanor been the practical) of the healthy coexistence of reason and emotion…and the literal hope to reach Velvet’s endless and idyllic dream, …it gets the better of me in the same way that Velvet does and it’s just a beautiful ending for Phi’s arc and the game.
And that was the four…Uff…uff…you know what they say about pointless worries…
…MAGIKAZAMAZAMAZAM…
Eizen is awesome; he has the height, the posture, the voice, the long coat, the quotes, the family connections, the dorkiness, the “Perfect Mayhem” one of the most kickass designs of the franchise, his character screams “I’m fucking badass”
Tumblr media
…Badass indeed…
…he is also one of the most interesting members of the cast.
Eizen is 1000 years old Malak afflicted for The Reaper’s curse which cause misfortune to the people that surrounds him, he is also a pirate, the second mate of The Aifread’s pirates, who ends joining Velvet quest in order to seek pass through one of the Abbey’s fortress and later for the possibility to find clues of the missing Captain Aifread whose disappearance maybe connected with one of the highest ranks of the Abbey.
Eizen is pirate, a ruthless thief, a man with little regards for the rules of the Abbey or the Kingdom, someone who has no moral compass other than his own convictions, an intrepid and dorkish adventurer who travels the eleven seas for the pure joy of doing it, loyal to his crew, to his captain, and his creed…
Wait a minute…He is still a bad guy, right?…
Let me see, thief? Check. Inclination to punching people? Check. Does business with morally questionable people? Check….oh he is also a second in command of a well knowing pirate crew…double check …then why he still looks like he could be one the good pirate characters in One Piece?…Well because that is the point.
In the same way that One Piece (Or the first Pirates of the Caribbean) explore a heavy romanticize vision of what a pirate is, Eizen is the romanticize vision of what a life led by emotions is. His arc doesn’t deal with themes like obsession or blindness or about losing yourself in your own overwhelming emotions (through there is something like that in regard to his arc during the Zaveid side quest, but is played in a different manner but don’t worry we’ll get there) like Rokuro’s or Velvet’s. No, his arc revolve about why emotions are so important for us and how following our own path, our own believes, is the only way to live our own life to the fullest, and in that regard he is the biggest contrast with the oppressive ways of the Abbey.
Eizen is someone that live adventures with his friends, he travels to exotic places, he doesn’t answer to anyone, a man that values his freewill above anything else and that will not letting that anything or anyone take it away from him, but as I said in the begging he’s not an auto-destructive person nor an anarchist, he plays the role of the lovable rogue (Despite that we actually don’t see much of thesem because the game isn’t about the adventures of Eizen and Benwick in the Van Eltia) with a stoic attitude and tough demeanor but also with a heart of gold a dork and in that regard he is the most enjoyable and funny member of the party (Aside for certain witch)…he is the most open to express his appreciation for the group aside for Phi, maybe, his completely honest fanboy rants about history or relics or just expressing his more pure inner feelings about his ways of life…He is amazing…Live hard and day young, Am I right, Eizen?… but in that regard, how many people have the raw muscle to decide their own fate? But even more important than that. Do you have it, Eizen?
Eizen has a role in the narrative and goal in the game, but they are just little bifurcations in a much greater story about Eizen fighting his own fate.
His natural affinity as an earth Malak, The Reaper curse, the laws of the Abbey, the Malevolence that slowly has started to overcome him and even the event of the game are no more than other rock blocking his way to…well, nothing. Eizen journey is just an endless resistance test that will have an abrupt end (In the context of the life spam of Malikhim/Seraphim), a romantic one for sure, fighting for the sake of the word against a future Lord of Calamity, and later, after becoming a dragon, killed as a way of saving him and putting him to rest of his madness state, but an end after all.
Eizen’s story is one of a man against the world, an endless path which mere travel through him symbolize the quest of men for freedom in his lives…Eizen is the coolest, and he was made to be the coolest, a romantic hero who has been throw it in a cynical story about clashing ideas as one of the idealist and inspirational parts of the emotion side…and again he does amazing in his job.

Your Character in Five Quotes
( repost, do not reblog. )
Tell us your favorite quotes from your character. Give us an idea of who they are by five things they’ve said. Then tag your friends.
Tumblr media
"They're going to pay for making my little brother cry! I can't forgive anyone who makes my family cry!
"It's payback time, y'all! Now, where's my horny woman at?!"
"If you ain't got the power to do it alone, we'll be there to back you up!"
"There ain't no past or present with family. New or old, family is family."
"Giet, you always been my family! And you always will be 'til the day I die!"
Tumblr media
"You said that your creed was to never give up on living, no matter what may happen. If you really believe that... would you say that you're living right now? Because to me, you don't look like someone truly living."
"Laphicet, tell this self absorbed idiot what she needs to hear!"
"If it means getting my tunnels, I'll build an island, too."
"Damnation, Magilou! My sister doesn't have any guy clinging onto her! Do you know something I don't? Prove it! Bring him here right now!"
"There's nothing I hate more than someone else trying to control the direction of my life. My wheel is mine to hold. If I'm not the one steering the ship, then I'm not truly alive."
Tumblr media
"What's wrong? You look like you just swallowed a bug. ...Oh, wait, you always look like that."
"I hate teaching. I don't take apprentices. I don't impart knowledge."
"Hah hah. Are you trying to cheer me up? You've somewhat missed the mark... but I appreciate the sentiment."
"I would ask you to die, yes. If I were an emperor with a country to consider. But as your friend... I feel compelled to stop you."
"But no matter how much you change or regret your actions, not all of what you've done will be forgiven. That's why you must come back alive. Or rather... I hope you do."
Tumblr media
"I've traveled back in time from next week. Please stop throwing monsters at us."
"It should be. The crablette is the finest food in the world. In fact, I think they should make National Crablette Day!"
"This time I won't let them get hurt!"
"Hubert was shy... but he tried his best, and always worried about everyone."
"I dreamt I was riding in a huge blossomgale, and we went to a beautiful meadow where I fell asleep."
Tumblr media
"Have you forgotten what you said to King Ingobert about Natalia? Your memories of those seven years together were real. For you and your parents."
"You said you were going to start with what you can do, right? One person can't do much alone. But people can work together. I... we're with you."
"If you tell me you've made your decision, I'll trust that you've thought it through. But that doesn't mean I'll agree with your choice. If you make this choice, and the miasma disappears... I'll hate you. Everyone else may call you a hero, but I'll never forgive you."
"It will. Tomorrow... and the day after... and on and on."
"Hypothesizing about not having been born is meaningless. You're living your own life. Experiences that only you know. Feelings that only you feel. Don't deny them. You're here."
Tumblr media
"Arthur. I finally have an answer to your question. 'Why do you think that birds fly?' Birds fly because they want to fly. They don't need a reason. Even if their wings snap and doom them to die. They don't fly for anyone's benefit. They don't fly because they were ordered to. Birds fly because they want to, and for no other reason!"
"I… I loved them all…! I loved Laphi… and Celica… Arthur… Everyone… To have it all stolen from me… Why them? Why not me? It hurts so much...!"
"A reason? To spare the world of its pain? Don't give me that! Who will spare my brother's pain? Who will soothe my brother's despair? He murdered my little brother Laphi! And you'll stand there and tell me it was for the greater good?!"
"...Coo, coo."
"But that's exactly why I can't forgive them. Not Artorius, not Innominat… I know my heart is ugly, and full of contradictions. But those days we spent together in familial warmth, they're proof that I… that all of us… were truly alive. That's why no matter how hard, no matter how sad it gets, I will take my vengeance to the very end!"

Which of your muses prefers to stay indoors the most? Which one prefers the outdoors any day, all day?
Questions for multimuse blogs!
Tumblr media
(ooc: Rita definitely prefers the indoors. That tends to be the case with a lot of Aspio residents, so it's not too surprising. Rita did adjust to traveling a fair bit while with Yuri and the others, though, so she isn't opposed to the outdoors.
Rinwell I also could see being a little bit more preferential toward the indoors. She doesn't mind camping in the least, though.
Shionne definitely prefers the indoors. She grew to appreciate camping while traveling with everyone, but she'd rather be somewhere comfortable she knows is home and somewhere with someone she cares about.
Eizen definitely is more of an outdoors man. There's a reason he prefers life on the open sea.

How the Magic Gets Made
Tumblr media
"Okay, I've had enough."
Tumblr media
"What's up, Rita?"
Tumblr media
"Yeah, you sound serious. I mean... more than usual."
Tumblr media
"All these different magics, that's what! Fonic artes, crystal eres, astral artes, malak artes, seraphic artes... and that's not even mentioning the fact that they all have different systems!"
Tumblr media
"Someone's in a bad mood."
Tumblr media
"A foul mood, even. Foul mood Rita."
Tumblr media
"It is a fascinating topic, isn't it? But I'd prefer to leave it well enough alone myself."
Tumblr media
"No way! How can you just accept that and not even wonder about how they're all interconnected?"
Tumblr media
"Rita's got a point, Jade. It is weird how different kinds of magics can be tied to the same arte. Like healing artes. What makes a Healing Circle cast with fonic artes different from one cast with mana?"
Tumblr media
"Seraphic artes and malak artes are the exact same thing. Just named differently depending on how my kind was referred to."
Tumblr media
"Aye. Exactly as Edna said."
Tumblr media
"But you two were able to still use your artes when you were in my world! Even if it was in a rift that opened up in our world! I'm with you, Rita! Let's crack the code on what connects fonons, aer, mana, eres, astral energy, and everything else!"
Tumblr media
"Now you're talking! Hell yeah, let's do this, Rinwell!"
Tumblr media
"W-Wait for me! I want to help, too!"
Tumblr media
"There they go."
Tumblr media
"Indeed. Oh, to have that youthful energy again."

“Well, at least we’re on an island…” (for whichever muse you're in the mood for!)
Holed up somewhere starters
"Aye..."
Not the worst situation they could have ended up in. They were alive, at the very least. Eizen was soaked to the bone and looked about as miserable as a wet cat, but he was alive. To think they'd end up shipwrecked was... not unexpected. The Reaper's Curse was a fickle mistress. Still. Not the most convenient of situations.
As far as Eizen could tell, neither of them was hurt. How true that was remained to be seen. One thing at a time, though.
Tumblr media
"And it's not storming now," he commented. Kind of funny how that had worked out. It almost was like the storm had wrapped up as soon as they'd ended up wrecked. Or maybe it just was luck.
"Well. We've got our work cut out for us if we want to get back," he said.

@thosetaleskids liked for a Berseria anniversary starter!
Responses from Edna weren't the most common thing in the world, so when Benwick mentioned White Turtlez coming by with one it was only natural that Eizen would want to stop to read it. It was just by chance that Velvet had decided they needed to stop for supplies anyway. So there he sat, perched on the pier with letter in hand and reading glasses on to pour over what his sister had decided to talk about. The rest of the Van Eltia's crew knew by then that it was best to leave him be, at least apart from acknowledging the letter had come. So Eizen was content with the knowledge he wouldn't be disturbed.
Tumblr media
A soft smile lingered on his face as he moved to the next page. Apparently a family of squirrels had taken up residence on a tree near the house. Eizen knew Edna likely mentioned it because she knew he liked them. The letter wrapped up with her talking about how she'd been doing. As long as she was okay, he could keep doing what he was doing.
He carefully folded the pages of the letter and pocketed them, turning his head a moment later to observe the sea before them. The waters weren't looking as rough as they could. Smooth sailing in the coming days, perhaps? That would have been good news for Velvet as they prepared to take their final stand against Artorius and Innominat. It did seem everyone had things they were trying to wrap up, though. Like Magilou's desire to do those comedy shows, or Rokurou looking out for the Code Red daemons. Or even Laphicet looking for ingredients for that Omega Elixir. Speaking of...
Even with the ever persistent sound of the ocean's waves hitting the pier's pillars, he could hear the footsteps of his fellow malak. He looked over his shoulder and motioned with his head to acknowledge Laphicet. Then, he reached up to take his reading glasses off.
"I thought you'd be off with Velvet helping her get supplies," Eizen said. "Something on your mind?"

"Enough of your tricks! ...Huh?"
Happy seventh anniversary, Tales of Berseria!
"Draw the scene with Eizen seeing the illusion of Edna Melchior conjures up," I said. "It'll be fine," I said! I love the earth siblings but man are they detailed. xD Not helping is I decided to draw Eizen in a bit of a more complex pose than simply standing and facing the illusion Edna, choosing to go for the moment just as he turns to face her and first sees her.
I don't know why I love this scene so much. Maybe it's because of how shocked Eizen is to see 'Edna' and how thrown off he is because of it. It's such a rare moment of vulnerability for Eizen, at least at this point in the game.

Talestober day three!
3. Cats VS Dogs
Scene dialogue under the cut because it got long! I'm sure there are other examples of cat and dog debates in the series, but the only two that immediately sprang to mind were the ones from Berseria and Xillia. But I went with Berseria for today because I felt like drawing the whole crew. Which... took a while, as you can tell.
"I saw Benwick and the rest of the crew get into a serious fight over whether cats or dogs were better. I don't get what the big deal is."
"I CAT believe you could say such a thing! No conflict is more perilous than the one that has DOGGED mankind since the dawn of civilization! In the shadow of every war are the battles of dog lovers and cat lovers. Between each side lies a divide. Maybe not all that deep, but unbridgeable all the same. I'd say we're lucky that the squabble you saw didn't escalate into something more serious."
"I had no idea it was such a big deal... So what side to all of you fall on?"
"I am, without a doubt, a cat person. Cats and witches have a long history together."
"Personally, I prefer dogs because they can cohabit with humans while following the rules. But... I like cats, too, because they're cute."
"What about you, Rokurou?"
"Shigure liked cats, so I don't. But I like dogs even less, always wagging their tails for their masters."
"I feel the same way. Dogs will trade anything for food. Learning tricks, wagging their tails, getting friendly, and in time, even forgetting to howl."
"I think that's too cynical. Dogs make efforts to please humans so that we can live together. They're friendly and compassionate creatures."
"Then does that make you a cat person, Eizen?"
"Actually, I like squirrels best. When I lived with my sister, the nearby forest had lots of nice, fluffy squirrels that would let me pet them."
"This isn't about squirrels, it's about cats and dogs. You have to pick a side."
"If I had to choose... yeah, it'd be cats. There's something lovable about the way they act, especially when you spoil them. Reminds me a lot of my sister."
"What about you, Velvet? Cats or dogs?"
"Dogs. They don't betray you."

No such thing as a perfect strategy with the Reaper's Curse, anyway.

Cure for What Ails Ya
Tumblr media
"Wait, you're telling me there's such a thing as an Omega Elixir?? I thought there were just those Elixirs that are hard to come by!"
Tumblr media
"I'm afraid I'm just as lost as you are, Chloe. My brother, Sophie, our friends, and I only ever came across Elixirs when it came to the most powerful of healing items. We could dualize them, but they weren't easy to make. So what is this Omega Elixir?"
Tumblr media
"Oh, I can help with that! Omega Elixirs aren't that different from your standard Elixir. They're a bit more potent, though. Where your typical Elixir will only heal one fallen ally, an Omega Elixir can heal as many as four at once!"
Tumblr media
"They do sound incredible. I wish we'd had some when we were going through the Cradle of Time. That would have saved us some trouble."
Tumblr media
"I concur! I, too, wish my companions and I had had an Omega Elixir on hand when we were in a particularly difficult fight. Surely there must be a catch."
Tumblr media
"Well, you're not wrong. Omega Elixirs are handy, but the caveat is that they're not at all easy to procure. Not unless you want to run around looking for Jet Black Feathers to trade for them."
Tumblr media
"Jet Black..."
Tumblr media
"Feathers...?"
Tumblr media
"Jude, what are you talking about? My friends and I found an Omega Elixir in a chest once. When we were going through Vholran's castle."
Tumblr media
"...Huh?"
Tumblr media
"Yeah, it was just... right there. In a chest. Actually, we won some from completing group fights in the Training Grounds too. We only ever had a small handful of them, though. And we tried to save them for emergencies."
Tumblr media
"Huh. We had to travel all over the world to find ingredients to make an Omega Elixir."
Tumblr media
"We weren't able to use it once we made it, since we made it for a friend of Laphicet's, but it was no easy process to make."
Tumblr media
"I suppose the rarity of these Omega Elixirs makes them all the more desirable. And all the more precious if you do acquire them."
Tumblr media
"It certainly sounds that way. Which makes it all the more important that they be saved for crucial moments, like Rinwell said."
Tumblr media
"I just can't get over the fact that Rinwell just... found one in a chest. Who would leave something so valuable just sitting in a chest?"

@forgottenluck The wheel of fate chose... Eizen for your starter!
He had to be some kind of desperate to be looking for aid of this sort.
Well, quite frankly, Eizen was just that. The Reaper's Curse was a heavy burden to bear and had led to him hurting the one person he had sworn to protect. That same person now lived alone on the mountain home Eizen had made for the pair of them, and he scoured the land far and wide for ways to rid himself of his 'blessing.' So there he was, walking the unfamiliar path toward what he could only hope was some sort of salvation.
Truth be told, he wasn't even sure if this lead he'd found would work out like he hoped. Eizen only knew bits and pieces of this legend of sorts. Some sort of good fortune based god, that was said to hold dominion over a village. At least, that was what Eizen had gleaned from a book he'd found. To him, it sounded like maybe it was something akin to a malakhim. Or if it wasn't, a very powerful entity. Whether this being really could eliminate a pre-existing blessing of bad luck was up in the air. He just had to hope that, contrary to everything he'd known ever since figuring out what was causing bad things to happen to himself and his sister, he had a little bit of luck on his side.
As Eizen walked, he took note of the surrounding area. For a place that was supposed to house a village, it seemed rather quiet. Perhaps that was because the good luck entity kept away daemons, Eizen reasoned. It was either that, or the area was so sequestered that nothing could come to bring harm.
...Or perhaps there was no one left to fear for that sort of fate.
The farther Eizen walked, the more apparent it became that the village had suffered some sort of ill fate. There wasn't a soul present. Houses that once must have belonged to humans were empty and dilapidated. The village might as well have been completely forgotten by time.
Tumblr media
Was he too late? Did the good luck entity even live here anymore? Eizen couldn't even blame this on his Reaper's Curse. Not really. Still, he'd come this far. If the luck god he'd read about did live there still, surely it couldn't hurt to try and find him. So he walked further, unmistakable blue eyes scanning everything in the immediate area as he moved, but he saw nothing that would prove who he sought even lingered there.
The blond malak couldn't stop himself from sinking to his knees. He should have been used to this despair by then, Eizen told himself. There couldn't be a cure all for the Reaper's Curse. Still, against his better judgment Eizen had gotten his hopes up. And for what?
"Damnit..." A shaky breath was drawn in. How was he supposed to go back to Edna like this? The curse still lingered. He'd only hurt her. All that was left was to just turn and leave. And yet...
One last desperate thought nagged at him. Just because he couldn't see this being didn't mean he wasn't there, right? What could it hurt?
"...I came all this way seeking the favor of fortune," Eizen said, trying to sound as determined as he could. "If you yet cling to these lands, answer. I don't know where else to go."
I need help.

@endlcssmasquerade gets Eizen and Theodora interactions!
Humans came, humans went. It was the way of the world for their kind, and by then Eizen was more or less accustomed to it. Still, his thoughts had been heavy as the somber air around the Van Eltia. The last of her crew, the humans he had traveled with the longest, had finally passed on not too long ago. Now there was nothing attaching him to he ship. No reason for him to linger around there.
No one would want her, he told himself. The ship was deemed as cursed long ago and only Aifread’s crew had been foolhardy enough to set sail aboard her. Well... them, and Velvet’s motley crew he had been a part of. Still, it seemed a shame to let her waste away in Taliesin’s harbor until she was inevitably scrapped.
Tumblr media
“We had some good times,” he said as he stood before the Van Eltia. No human could see him within Taliesin, he was sure. With Innominat gone along with Velvet, and Maotelus ushering in a new era, a lot of humans had lost their ability to perceive Malakhim like him. As far as any human would be concerned, there was no one standing in front of the ship. No one offering a final parting word or two. But what to do now?
“Guess I could always take you myself,” he mused. “Make the humans think you’re haunted. Heh...” Wouldn’t that be a riot, he thought. One last hoorah to make people really want to steer clear of the Van Eltia. Alas, Eizen didn’t think he’d follow through with the thought. A one man pirate crew, especially made up of one Malak who couldn’t swim very well, was doomed before it even set out. He knew that.
“You’ve earned the rest,” he told the ship. It felt no more odd to be talking to the Van Eltia than anything else. He offered one last wave before turning around to face the cliffside city properly.
A few days spent in Taliesin before finding a new ship to hitch a ride on with a young crew seemed like the best idea. It would be another risk, brushing with humans and exposing himself to more malevolence, but it was a risk Eizen had always embraced. Humans were going to and fro, chatting about this and that or shopping, and as far as Eizen could tell all seemed pretty normal. He might as well take a look around the market, he decided. He’d see if there was anything interesting he could either purchase for himself or send to Edna as another gift.
Soon after approaching the market, though, Eizen noticed something. Rather, he noticed someone. Another Malak, wind element from the look of her. He’d been to Taliesin plenty of times, but he couldn’t recall seeing her. The only other Malak he’d known to come around Taliesin was Zaveid. Even then, he’d never actually encountered Zaveid there before. He’d only heard him mentioned.

What. The hell. Was going on?
Eizen hadn’t left Rayfalke for that long, he’d felt like. The intention in doing so had been to look for a potential way to cure his sister that didn’t involve killing her. What he found when he returned was not one, not two, but three individuals who’d made their way up the mountain. What was worse, they appeared to be engaged in combat with Edna. And losing.
One, Eizen was quick to note, was a teenage boy garbed in blue and white. The Shepherd’s garb, he realized quickly enough. It had changed over the thousand years since Artorius had taken the first role, but it was recognizable all the same. What did that boy think he was doing, Eizen wondered. Surely he didn’t think he could take on a dragon by himself. Especially not one who was had been around for roughly two hundred years.
No time for questions, he decided. If he didn’t do something, then that Shepherd and his companions were going to meet an end to their journey before it even started. So, Eizen leaped into action. The song and dance was the same. He’d fought back Edna more than once himself, and he felt like he knew well enough how to handle her. Not that he could completely stop her, but he could distract her. That would have to do for the moment.
“Hey, Shepherd! If you don’t want to die today, I suggest you move!” Eizen called. That was his only warning before he landed just to the side of Sorey and his group and punched in Edna’s direction as she lunged forward. The punch connected, knocking her back a few paces before she shook her head and seemed to recollect herself. The dragon reared her head and unleashed a roar, but Eizen did his best to dig his feet in to keep himself from being blown back. Only then did he start to cast an arte. The arte itself was simple. Just a way to keep her at bay for a moment.
A quick Stone Lance was fired off, and several pointed stones came together to block off Edna’s path for a moment.

“Go! I’ll be right behind you!” Eizen called to the group. He had more than a few words he wanted to exchange with them. Right then, though, he needed to watch to make sure Edna didn’t break away from his distraction too quickly. If any of her was left inside that dragon body, it sure wasn’t apparent.
