Quantum and the Spirit: Unveiling the Mysteries Through New Technologies
In the boundless realm where quantum physics and spirituality merge, an extraordinary odyssey unfolds—one that tirelessly aims to unite the physical with the metaphysical, the visible with the invisible. This profound exploration, often referred to as “Quantum Spirituality,” delves into the intricate interplay between the principles of quantum mechanics and spiritual phenomena, seeking to unravel…

ITEST Webinar entitled "Science, Reason, and Faith: Discovering the Bible" with Fr. Robert J. Spitzer, SJ, and Dr. Tom Sheahen (December 2, 2023) Built into our very nature is a desire to know about the world around us. The big questions of human existence are inescapable: Who am I? Why am I here, and where am I going? Why is there evil in the world? What is the meaning of life? This yearning for truth ultimately leads us to our Creator. God knows the longings of the human heart, and he reveals himself to us through creation, through Scripture, and ultimately through the Incarnation. Because God the Son became man, we have a person to look to in our pursuit of truth: Jesus Christ himself, who is Truth. Christ helps us see that truth is not just the object of science and reason, but what animates the mysterious and loving power of faith. In Science, Reason, and Faith, Fr. Robert Spitzer, SJ, explores in depth the Bible and the intersection of three realms that the secular world tells us are separate and incompatible. Fr. Spitzer draws the modern reader’s attention to the many seeming conflicts between science, reason, and Catholic teaching. By tackling these difficult questions, he shows that it is precisely through the integration of science, reason, and faith that we can truly discover ourselves, our world, and our God. Fr. Spitzer’s new book Science, Reason and Faith is subtitled Discovering the Bible because it displays the unity between science, the Biblical texts, and the presentation of the Christian faith contained in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. For the scientific reader, it is a reassuring surprise to discover how the elements of faith and science fit together so well.Matters such as finding compatibility between modern physics and cosmology and the text of Genesis 1, or the significance of Old Testament miracles, are explained carefully in a way that a reader without expertise in Biblical scholarship or science can understand. New Testament questions range from the eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ miracles, through the full understanding of the real presence of the Eucharist, to the need for there to be an organized religion.Structured in question-and-answer form, multiple topics containing a scientific component are explored across both Old and New Testament. This format enables the reader to quickly locate a particular topic of interest; and thus, the book serves as a handbook or reference guidebook. Several hundred citations guide the reader pursuing greater depth. In my supplement to Fr. Spitzer’s presentation at this Webinar, I will develop some of these topics further, relating them to the principle of God’s omnipresence, which includes God’s supremacy over time, enunciated in my own book Everywhen: God, Symmetry and Time. Our independent approaches converge, which further shows the compatibility of faith and science. The Ingredients of Divine Principles
Tumblr media
If what we are is more than flesh and blood, then there must be something more in this world than the air we breathe and the land we tread upon. Science has already created tremendous achievements that makes living in our world more comfortable and easier to handle, yet a part of us longs for answers that cannot be solved by its logical ways. There are some events in life that are just too much for even the most intellectual and pragmatic scientist to make sense of. These perplexing incidents call for the transcendental, the spiritual, the metaphysical realm – the foundation that offered the concept of divinity. Then again, it remains ever obscure shrouded in its own mystery. The Crucial Elements Needed to Grasp the Divine Principles. As mystical as it sounds, what makes it attainable is man’s receptiveness to unconventional methods. A pinch of daring logic, a douse of mathematics, a scrape of scientific deductions, a sprinkle of uncontrolled phenomena, and a cup of systematic analysis. Then, you add a whole lot of Faith and Science and voila, you have the stairway to understanding the Divine Truth. The steps in getting there have to be taken by your own will, and survived by the measure of your own perseverance. We cannot assure you how the answers will affect your beliefs, but knowing the intricacies of human spirituality is worth it. What makes it all worth it, you ask? Because in perceiving who we truly are at the core can we truly perceive our worth in the vast population of mankind. From within us springs the vitality of our person – how we rationalize our actions, how we make sense of our emotions, how we value our life and all that we make of it. Our ability to discern our own mind, heart, and spirit will reflect in our everyday dealings with other beings. That is what we need in our acts to keep ourselves sane, the people around us serene, and our earth salvaged from what we have turned it into. Read the full article

In 1973, Werner Heisenberg, the father of Quantum Physics, gave a speech before accepting the Romano Guardini Prize for his paper "Scientific and Religious Truth." He spoke of the relationship of the two truths:
“The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you."

When we say God is "outside" science, the way a smell or a sound is "outside" our vision, people often claim we're using a "God of the gaps" argument. That means saying, "If I don't know, then it must be God." Not only is that NOT the case, the reverse is true: what we see in nature—things science can measure—actively points TOWARD the God of the Bible. "Rightly considered, modern scientific development gives us a profound conception of God because it gives us a better idea than heretofore of the inexhaustible activity of God. Ignorance.
Today, I was in my room listening to a program on NPR about how the newest edition of the DSM is flawed. My mom was listening while she was getting ready for work in the bathroom, and she came storming into my room, and started ranting about how "you will never be able to understand the brain" and "it's just like the tower of Babel, and everyone thinks they're going to figure this shit out, and god will not stand for it. You will not listen to this bullshit  in my house. If you want to fill your brain with this nonsense, that's YOUR own mistake. A house divided will not stand." (My mother has always had a flare for dramatics.)
1. I have never denied my faith. I know that God exists. I also know that God gave humans intelligence, and that we need to be using that intelligence to our fullest potential. Disease is not of god, so why wouldn't I try to figure out a way to help those in need? Are we meant to suffer as God's creatures? If so, I want no part in your twisted beliefs, and I will continue to follow my own, like I did when I realized you were fucked at a very young age.
2. Obviously, you have no idea what DSM even stands for, and you entered the discussion halfway through. You just made yourself look like an absolute idiot, and you're just like your parents. Luckily for me, I'm an adult now, and I understand that I can think for myself. You, on the other hand, will be lead around for the rest of your ignorant life on the shortest noose of them all, because you are not a quiet woman and you don't listen before you think, speak OR act. Congratulations on making me disregard everything you have to say about my future career before it even spills out of your mouth. You've done a great job teaching me manners. But that's the only thing you were able to teach me, so if you're not going to support me, fuck off.
3. If anyone has the balls to question MY faith and MY beliefs, you better be ready for a battle. Because I'm sick of all this shit. Faith cannot exist without science, science cannot exist without faith. It's just what it is. Now I know why my mom is such a bitch all the time... because she's constantly opposing the things she will NEVER change, and living a life like that is hard. Extremely hard. But she made that kind of a life for herself, so I don't pity her.
In conclusion, I'm not going to stand for ignorance in my life any more. My mind is fantastic, sharp and keen. I hold my intelligence in the highest regard. I know that I have a lot to figure out, but I'm sure I am on the right path. And I can thank myself for that, because the people who were supposed to support me, guide me and love me did a real shitty job when I started to get wise. Thanks for nothing, mom. Time to go contribute to the world of Psychology and leave your shit behind.
