ok so now that finnster's come out as genderfluid and started taking hrt can we stop trying to force people to choose labels and define their identity. everyone's always talking about support for queer people with unconventional presentations and identities but when someone's not sure about what their gender identity actually is they get criticized for it. finn said in his video that part of the reason why he took so long with coming out was because he wasn't sure what label actually applied to him (and he still isn't even sure if genderfluid feels like the right label for him) and the debate surrounding it was making him uncomfortable. which kind of sucks tbh. idk i dont like how much identity policing ive seen around them it feels like people just aren't comfortable with 'weird' gender presentation
i think f1nn5ter makes a lot of people more uncomfortable than drag does because they cant dismiss what he does as ironic and therefore nonthreatening. it isnt a parody of femininity, its legitimately looking like a woman while being fully a man and it scares people.
he represents all the fears cis people have of not being able to tell if somebody is trans, and hes living proof that humans are not nearly as dimorphic as they like to think.
now that f1nn5ter has come out as genderfluid I think a lot of y'all owe him an apology. even when the narrative was that he was cis, he was still incredibly kind to the trans community. and yet so many people were so quick to say shit like "oh he's just cosplaying" or "he's co-opting transfem culture".
experimenting with gender presentation is how a lot of people find out they're trans. regardless of how a public figure presents themself to you on your computer screen, they're still entitled to a private relationship with their own sexuality and gender identity. give them space to work things out on their own terms rather than imposing assumptions on them one way or the other.
