Happy 46th Birthday Kevin Mckidd born on August 9, 1973 in Elgin.
McKidd attended Seafield Primary School and Elgin Academy, where he was the member of amateur dramatic group, Moray Youth Theatre. After leaving school he worked at Macallan distillery in Speyside and then at Lumsden’s Coppersmiths back in Elgin.
His big break came from playing the part of Tommy in Trainspotting and THAT Famous scene played out at the same time as THE Archie Gemmill. As I mentioned on another post yesterday Kevin starred in the BBC series Looking after Jo Jo with EwanStewart and his Trainspotting co-star Robert Carlyle. One of my favourites he has starred in is 16 Years of Alcohol written by Kirkcaldy man Richard Jobson, ex singer-songwriter of Skids. Kevin has also had regular roles in the US dramas Grey’s Anatomy, Journeyman and Rome.
Also a decent singer McKidd instigated The Speyside Sessions, a Scottish folk music album recorded in 2011/12 at Hogmanay in his home town of Elgin. Many of the contributors to the album are old school friends of McKidd’s. The album was released on 15 June 2012 in aid of Save the Children. Kevin took the honours in 2013 as Grandmaster at NYC Tartan day parade, he lives in the States and continues to work on Greys Anatomy.
