*There may be typos, incorrect spelling, and bad grammar due to me trying to rush this and episode 3. Bare with me plz. The amount of gifs made for this was overkill and will lighten them up in the next post. Also, I will be referring to these posts as commentary since that’s what they mostly are and not reviews/reactions. Without further ado:

So Cinder’s still alive. Not surprised tbh because of the intro.

Wait. So you’re telling me. That the vault to one of the Relics, a vault that has a gate to another dimension, is now wide open to walk in now? Oz, how about a little bit of house keeping?  Oh I don’t know, maybe have some thicker walls or something???

Welp. That’s a shame. Another one bites the Dust. Poor lady didn't deserve that fate.

“We need to take the Relic to Atlas?”

I said it before, poor child had barely escaped now they have to go back.

Blake ready to throw Weiss under the bus LOL. I felt some snark coming from her haha.

“Ex-Heiress, actually.” That volume one throw back.

YANG IS ON BOARD THE “THROW THE WEISS UNDER THE BUS” TRAIN. Poor Weiss LOL.

The Lantern can answer any questions? Any 3 questions? So it’s like. Knowledge is power kind of thing? I guess you could say that. The Lantern’s magic is quite. Enlightening.

Oscar, the MVP, is on board the “Throwing People Under the Bus” Train, now featuring Ozpin.

“Do you really think Leo was the first? That he didn’t say those exact same words to me? I’m sorry, but you have to understand my behavior is backed by experience.”

I have to say Oz has it rough. Having lived multiple times only to have close allies betray him, multiple times he implies. I don’t blame him for walling himself off from others. But at the same time, his approach could be. Better? I’m not saying he should entirely trust Team RWBY, but he should really tell them all the important details of, well, everything, if he’s to lead them to stopping Salem in whatever the fuck she plans to do with the Relics.

Also shout out to Aaron Dismuke for such great voice acting on this part for Oscar/Ozpin. The way he said “Do you really think Leo was the first?” shook me.

What’s really strange about this part is that Ozpin forgot about the Relic. Like it’s very important to keep an eye on this thing right? I found it surprising that he didn’t realize he no longer had it on him for such a long time. Sure, he might have been distracted, but I feel like his priorities were kind of “Relic first” ya know?

Wtf, he’s still hiding more shit??? Oscar what are you doing.

“Her name is Jinn”? 

WHO IS “HER”? AND “JINN” LIKE A DJINN? LIKE. A GENIE?

If there was ever a time for a more mature/vulgar dialogue for Team RWBY, 

It would be, RIGHT ABOUT NOW.

So where did Cinder end up exactly? She’s still somewhere in Mistral but this looks like a very Black Market-y kind of place. Also Idk why but she looks good in those clothe- I just remembered she killed someone for them. Hm.

I have to admit, that was a good line. Cute indeed.

“Little Miss Malachite”. I’ll be honest I totally forgot about the Little Miss Muffet rhyme. BUT MALACHITE. I can only think of 2 other specific twins with that last name in this show! But it might just be a coincidence... 

So. Okay. What I don’t understand is why is Cinder looking for RWBYJNR. She knows Raven is the Spring Maiden, but she doesn’t know that Raven gave Yang the Relic. Cinder was tossed off the edge before Yang even got down there. If anything Cinder should be looking for Raven since she might be the one with the Relic.

Hm but I guess if Raven betrayed Cinder, then Cinder could assume Raven was working with the opposing party. Hmm...

I get she got her ass whooped by Raven and is a bit jumpy, but Cinder, you’re basically an Avatar. You could wipe the floor with anyone in that building. It was implied that her powers got weakened after she crawled out of the water, but by how much? And was that even the Maiden’s power or her own semblance?

Information trade is a business. SO SOMEONE MIGHT BE LOOKING FOR CINDER.

So the first I want to bring up (with the ordering not being important) are the Malachite twins, Melanie & Miltiades Malachite. I bring this up first cuz I feel like this is the unlikely people or group looking for Cinder. Despite, again, both Little Miss and the Twins share a “last name”, I doubt they’re linked in any way. I mean one is here in Mistral while the other in Vale. The only connection the Twins would have with Cinder is Roman. And of course we see Roman’s hat fly by Cinder in the OP.

SO SECOND, which I believe is on most people’s mind is NEO. The next closest, and probably the closest person connected to Roman is probably the one looking for Cinder, since she, too, has worked for Cinder. And we don’t know if Neo actually knows what happened to Roman since she flew off the airship. And the only 2 people that might know would be Ruby Rose or Cinder Fall. And perhaps Neo has been trying to track down Ruby all the way to Mistral. But now that Ruby and the gang are leaving the continent, but Cinder is still in town, it might be easier to go after Cinder instead.

Just bring back my Neopolitan.

OKAY SO. JINN. GOD OF LIGHT. 3 QUESTIONS. But luckily, there’s 2 left. 

So, one, what the fuck Oz? Why you lying? WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL OF THE QUESTIONS ALREADY BEING USED UP???

Two: WHAT WAS THE FIRST QUESTION??? 

Three: GOD OF LIGHT??? Is this God one of the Brothers Grimm???

Again, I feel bad for Oz, but at the same time I still think he should’ve said more about, again, everything, to prevent

This. I understand keeping some deep dark secrets to yourself, but if the world is at jeopardy, then mayyybeee some of those secrets should be brought into light??? I mean look, Yang Weiss and Blake are already, and literally, up in arms. If Oz had shared more, then this situation couldve been avoided, or at the very least, diffused.

Also, Team ‘Protect Ruby Rose at ALL COSTS”

If I were Qrow, and I too, were kept in the dark, I would want to know more about everything as well. And I’m sure he trusts his niece to do the right thing.

There was a post I saw a few days ago speculating that Maria was once a warrior with Silver eyes, much like Ruby. IS SHE GOING TO TEACH AND EXPLAIN THE POWERS OF SILVER EYES TO RUBY? FINALLY? WILL RUBY BE THE NEXT AVATAR? 

Who’s this hooded figure? Getting more Kingdom Hearts vibes again-

Sometimes I feel like everyone should rewatch the episode just for like, not necessarily screen shots, but to look for frames like these. Like. Even though it’s a straight forward shot, this is a nice shot.

Idk why, but when Nora said Ren’s semblance can mask emtions, I immediately started playing Reflections from Mulan in my head. It really has nothing to do with the fact that Ren is supposed to be designed off of the idea of Mulan. Or maybe I did subconsciously. Hm. The song has NOTHING to do with his semblance either! Brain, what are you doing.

Two songs from Mulan in 2 review posts. And I haven’t watched the movie in ages.

Mother- What?! YANG DIDN’T EVEN KNOW WHERE YOU WERE. IT’S NOT LIKE YOU WERE AT A RETIREMENT HOME OR SOMETHING?

I heard this and was like “HAH. Like how a kid would try to make an excuse to their parent.”

“I’m not here for you. Ruby is somewhere in Mistral. She’s with Qrow and she’s going to need my help. I just need you to take me to her.”

You know, I get the feeling that a lot of people are gonna be like

“YOU FINALLY FOUND YOUR MOM. THE PERSON YOU’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR, FOR YEARS. AND YOU’RE JUST GONNA ASK HER TO TAKE YOU TO RUBY? DON’T YOU HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY OR ASK?”

I do feel that to a certain extent, but at the same time I feel like Yang may also have grown out of it. Whatever the reason she had for looking for her mom before isn’t the same now. Yang obviously has questions for Raven, but she also knows how important it is to find Ruby, and she probably feels like that outweighs whatever personal things she has with her mom, it just so happens that Raven was also the answer to finding Ruby.

And besides. Yang now knows where Raven’s camp is. I suppose she could just come back, albeit she may not be welcomed with open arms. Or arm. Just the one. I’m sorry.

“Because we’re family.”

OHHHH, GET FUCKED, RAVEN. Your own daughter throwing that sarcastic shade at you.

So we’ve seen what Raven’s semblances is, but not how it works, until now. She ‘bonds to certain people’ and can make warp gates to them. Yang says that she has her, Tai, and Qrow marked.  Yang also says to teleport her to Qrow, NOT Ruby. It could simply be that Raven had no reason to mark Ruby as someone to teleport to, or maybe it’s because Raven can only teleport to people that are close to her: Her Family.

That begin said, Raven seems to not like the whole family thing since she does say “Family - only come around when they need something.” Maybe her semblance was found due to the opposite nature of her personality. Having a semblance that literally takes her back to her family when she has such disdain for the idea does raise a few questions. But I’ll leave it at that.

Yeah. The way her face was animated and sass she threw in with her words. Badass/Evil mom status.

Before we move on I just want to know: What the fuck is that thing on her head? Like. I get it. RAVEN. FEATHERS. BUT LIKE. WHAT. IS THAT? Is it just like one giant super long hair extension or is that literally all part of her hair?

I laughed. SO HARD. At how long this shot was held for. Like.

Oh. Hi. Uhmmm. Uhh. Hello?

“Yang?????”

“…WHYiss you here?!”

THERE IT IS. FIRST CONTACT. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-

THE ILLUSION OF CHOICE IN VIDEO GAMES: CHOOSE STEALTH OR BUST OUT? OH YOU CHOSE STEALTH? TOO BAD, YOU’RE GOING TO BUST THE HELL OUT.

YASSSSSSS. IDC IF YALL HAVE SEEN GIFS AND SCREENSHOTS OF THIS ALREADY, THIS IS V IMPORTANT.

W: “What are you doing here?”

Y: “Well. That’s my mom. And she can take us to Ruby.”

-Slowly taking in what Yang just said.-

 Never in my life have I thought I would hear those words. In any form of media.

Also let’s not forget that Raven straight up curb stomped Weiss in the face.

W: “YOUR MOM CURBED STOMPED ME. SHE KICKED ME IN THE FACE.”

Y: “… YOU DID WHAT!?”

Weiss’s knight could EASILY cleave through half that camp at that size. Jeez.

Spring Maiden putting a halt to this BS.

Weiss giving that stern anime look and pose.

“If you’re really going after your sister, then you need to know the truth.”

HMMMM. OKAY. SO HERE’S ANOTHER CHOSE YOUR ADVENTURE MOMENT:

So we know everything’s that been going on with Salem and Cinder and Ozpin and yaddie yaddie yadda. So once Raven tells Yang and Weiss everything, what’s going to happen? Are they still going to regroup with Ruby and join her with Qrow to fight against Salem’s assault on Haven with the White Fang? Or are Weiss and Yang going to try and convince Ruby to pull away from Haven because shit is about to get real and they shouldn’t haven’t to deal with it?

I HIGHLY doubt that Raven is going to tell them about how literally the Spring Maiden is within the camp grounds. But if she does, then??? Do the 2 of them stay? Or will Raven teleport Yang and Weiss, just to then later pick up camp and move to a new location? Cuz by then EVERYONES gonna know who and where the Spring Maiden is.

SO MANY POSSIBILITIES. 

YES. FUCKING. FINALLY. YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. ONE OF THE MANY MOMENTS WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR.

I TEAR UP. EVERY TIME. AND IT DOESN’T HELP THAT THE BACKGROUND SONG IS “HOME”.

-UGLY HYSTERICAL SOBS-

I maybe reading into this too much, cuz you know, emotions rising, and with knowing the lyrics to the song, I want to talk about the symbolism in this last shot.

Weiss has gotten quite a bit of development coming from Volume 4 to now. And in my opinion, it started all when she was able to successfully summon her knight. 

After being told she was no longer the heiress to her family’s company, she was held against her will to stay in her room. As soon as she was able to summon her knight, she decided to take action. She was able to escape with the help of Klein. He was probably going to be the last trust worthy person she knows that she’s going to see in a while. Even while doing so, she’s had her guard up the whole time because she knew she’s no longer in a safe place. All the way up to being captured by bandits, she still shows initiative to get out. 

Then she reunites with Yang. She has finally found someone she cares and trusts. Someone she probably considers as part of her family, the family being Team RWBY. So the knight fading away in this last shot is visual representation of Weiss finally letting her guard down because now she’s with family. AND WHERE DO YOU USUALLY FIND FAMILY? HOME. THE TITLE OF THE SONG THAT’S PLAYING. AND I JUSTLKSA:LSKDJA:SLKJDWOIASK jEXCUSE ME WHILE I GO REPLAY THIS SCENE FOR THE REST OF TIME UNTIL MORE OF THE TEAM GETS BACK TOGETHER.

TL;DR: Weiss’s knight fading away at the end of this scene is the visual representation of  Weiss finally letting her guard down now that she’s found Yang; a team mate, a friend, a person she might consider as family.

But I may just be reading into this too much. I MEAN HOW COULD YOU NOT?

                               Chapter 1: Welcome to Haven Reaction  

                                                    -LONG POST-

 First I want to say:

I love that they’re putting art back into the show.

URARAKA?!

So they’re obviously going to head to where ever that broadcast is coming from right? I mean if the pilot doesn’t go, Weiss certainly will.

I MEAN.

SHE CAN SUMMON HER KNIGHT NOW RIGHT?

CAN SHE SUMMON OTHER THINGS?

LIKE.  A GRYPHON? OR A NEVERMORE?

SHE COULD HOP ON THEM AND FLY THERE?

AND HOW MANY GRIMMS CAN SHE SUMMON AT ONCE? In Weiss’s character trailer, Winter was able to summon a handful of Beowolves to help her train. And when she was fighting Qrow, she summoned a bunch of tiny Nevermores.

WEISS COULD BE A ONE WOMAN ARMY. I’VE HAD THIS THOUGHT SINCE V3.

I’m really digging the building designs.

Hmmm. Wasn’t there a similar courtyard like this back at Beacon? If there was, then its a nice tie-in to connect all the schools via design.

“Maybe try…louder?” I can’t tell if she’s sarcastic or not, but because it’s Nora I feel like she was genuinely suggesting to go louder. Best.

Winter For Creation, Summer For Destruction, Fall for Choice, Spring for Knowledge

I find it a bit strange and bit interesting about the Maiden’s respective relics.

For example, Fall’s is Choice. Pyrrha was elected to become the next Fall Maiden. Even though Oz and the rest felt like she was the perfect candidate, she still could’ve declined and walked away. Instead, she accepts to inherit the new power, not because she wanted to, but because she felt it was the right thing to do. On the flip side: From what we know about Maiden’s and their powers, they can only pass the powers onto a new person to someone they think of before their time ends. Cinder had successfully stolen the Fall Maiden’s power; Both times when she first initially attacked her and again at the chamber where the Maiden was kept alive. Cinder had taken the Fall Maiden’s ability to choose who to pass her powers onto.

Now we know that the Spring Maiden is Knowledge. So how will it work for and against her? Did knowing what a Maiden was excite her and motivate her to train her powers? And did obtaining more knowledge and understanding the importance of being a Maiden cause her to eventually run away?

When this came on the screen, everyone suddenly got quiet.

I don’t think it was because seeing Monty’s name made us sad, but because it made us happy: We were happy, or at least I was, to see how far this show has come. In a way, it was also out of respect with a humbling feeling.

Then maybe in at the end of it, they see that the current White Fang really needs to be stopped and then form a coalition and send an army/fleet to Haven to prevent the school from falling like Beacon? And that’s how Blake and Sun end up going to Haven!

Like if Ruby learns to go Full-Silver, can she suck the Maiden powers right out of Cinder? Do the power of the Silver Eyes just nullify the Maidens? Or does it just simply mean that Ruby could just eviscerate Cinder in. A blink. Of an eye? Eh? Eh?

I’ve personally have not worn a skirt (at least not in a very long time), but.

These 2 seconds of animation, pose, and lighting. Like. It’s really good. The animation felt really natural and the lighting/shadows and pose reads really well. I would recommend to watch this bit again to see what I’m talking about. 

One thing I would like to see improve is the lip sync/animation. 

She says “Where are we?” 

As odd as this is gonna sound to people who don’t animate, her lips should visually read “OoAh-Ah-OOee” than “Mah mah me.”

BUT THIS IS STILL GOOD NONETHELESS.

You can skip to the next image since these next couple of paragraphs are a head canon I came up with prior to V5.

I had a head canon that if the ship were to crash before Weiss got to her destination, she would have a case of amnesia; Waking up in the forest on fire, and having to make away from the wreckage, only later, at a safer place, discover she doesn’t remember who she is.

Long Story Short: She finds herself at some small village or town, cuts her hair, gets a new outfit, tries to find answers, but to make enough money to survive, becomes singer at a cafe/bar (also somehow despite forgetting a lot of things, knows how to play the guitar :P). Then she sees or hears on tv something about Haven Academy being attacked and sees Ruby and the rest on screen and be like “Hey those people are on my scroll thingy mabobber. Maybe they know who I am.”, remembers a few things everything, then yaddie yaddie yah, blah blah blah, rushes there, and then you have ½ of team RWBY back together.

Yo. Like. Fucking. Yo. I like her design very much.

From a design stand point, they probably put in a lot of effort to design Sienna. They could’ve modeled some generic person and then killed them off, but she’s intricately designed. 

Look: She has stripes, she has a white spot on her ear, she has detailed clothes, a VERY distinguishable hair style. Like why would you put so much effort into one character you’re gonna throw away.

From a character stand point, if she survives, shes not gonna be strong after a stab straight through the stomach. Shes going to have to retreat. Find a safe place and recover. And perhaps plot revenge against Adam. Plus, she was the head hancho of the White Fang. She probably knows EVERYTHING (except her attempted assassination) about what their operations, bases, and intel are. I mean she could go to the Belladonna’s for help, despite their differences of what the White Fang should be, but it wouldn’t be to stop and change the White Fang, it’s to straight up stop and murder Adam’s  fuckboi ass.

But if she’s actually dead, then fuck me right?

Important moment to note.

So far up to this point, all the girls have been playing their usual personalities out from the beginning.

There have been ‘character developments’ due to time jumps and also Blake’s obsession with the White Fang.

But this shows that these girls do have a flaw: They don’t really know what they want or how to go about doing what they think they want.

That doesn’t make them inadequate; this makes them real. Relatable.

SUPER TANGENT. SKIP IF YOU WANT.

This is important because this is a question of who we are and what choices we make.

Sometimes we may think we know all the answers. And sometimes we actually do.

But do we believe in our own answers? Is our will, our motivation, just as strong as we think it is up until you’re questioned for the very answer you thought was right?

These are important moments in our life that can change us. Re-evaluate and look at life differently.

What do we live for and why?

I relate to Blake in the sense that I know what I want to do, and that I would take it one step at a time.

After a while, I learned that it’s not only how many steps you take at a time, but rather how big those steps are.

Unlike Weiss, I had the freedom to do what I wanted because my parents allowed me to choose my own path in life.

But even then, when I thought I knew what I wanted to do, I didn’t have a strong feeling about my decisions.

And just like Yang, I thought if it was ok, fun, and in my case, wasn’t hurting anyone, that it would be the right choice.

And with that kind of a thought processes, it can lead you astray and blind.

“We know why we’re here, right?”

World of Remnant 2 Thingy Majiggy

So, this made me wonder about something:

1) About some known Haven characters:

Mr. Sun "Shirt and Tie" Wukong was probably originally from Vacuo but then later moved to Mistral to attend at Haven, where he met Neptune.

One way or another, Sun and Neptune became friends, and it is confirmed that at least Neptune is from Haven (as far as I can remember.)

We also know that Mercury, Emerald, and Cinder claimed to be from Haven as well.

This makes me wonder:

Since the 3 claim to be from Haven, and Neptune (and perhaps Sun) are actually students of Haven, do you think that team Sea Monkeys would recognize that M.E.C. are NOT students from their academy?

I mean I understand that Neptune nor Sun would know EVERY single student at Haven. But hey, with the way Neptune is with the ladies, you would think he would (or maybe not) remember the girls he hits on (Neptune you slut.)

There hasn't been any interaction between the 3 and 2 yet, so maybe team Sea Monkeys might play a key part to revealing the infiltrators for who they really are.

2) The ending.

They are the key to survival. As long as they stay united.

This could be foreshadowing something to happen in the series. Probably later this volume or many volumes to come.

a) There's going to be a war between the kingdoms. Perhaps Mistral against Vale since Cinder and the crew are posing as Haven students (Haven Academy in Mistral). With the way the lights went out like a candle fire, I could see that happening (Cinder, fire, candle light, desire.)

b) Kingdoms will simply take matters into their own hands and no longer work together. Thus falling apart one by one.

c) All 4 kingdoms come close to collapsing UNTIL they re/unite.

3) Outside the kingdoms.

I wonder down the road, a year or more, will we see any teams venture outside of the kingdoms for whatever reason.

I would think there would be since it could give some more of Blake's back story since she grew up outside the kingdoms. Or even a stand alone plot itself. A drastic change from living in a protected city vs living out in the unknown.
