Carbohydrates alone will not make you gain weight (unless you’re eating wayyyy above your energy needs)....but as you can see here some relatively plain carbohydrates aren’t that excessive in energy 🍩🍝🥔⁣ ⁣ Now I’m not trying to make anyone fat-phobic here, but you can see the energy content of these carbohydrate based foods increase when fat is added. It makes sense, carbohydrates are 4 calories per gram and fats are 9 calories per gram (more than twice the energy density of carbs) ⚖️⁣ ⁣ So before you blame the carbohydrates in isolation, look at the meal choice as a whole and what ingredients are contributing to the energy density. All foods (carbohydrate and fat based) can fit into a healthy diet!
