How Will You Enter the Door?
How Will You Enter the Door?
Day 3. 5 at St. Davids Christian Writers Conference I was walking to breakfast this morning, and I began to notice I was walking differently. I felt alive. The air was invigorating. I felt an unusual spring in my step. I must have grown at least an inch taller. And then I heard my mother’s voice, “Stand up straight. Put your shoulders back. Walk with confidence.” The memory made me chuckle. Why…

Skippy, do you still do prayer requests? My husband had a mental breakdown recently and once we got him stabilized, I discovered he’d destroyed the family finances. He’s doing much better now and is able to work, but since he owned his own business all his clients have disappeared and gone elsewhere. He has several bids in for jobs, and we really need pretty much all of them to come through. We have a child with special needs and a lot is riding on this. Please pray, and thank you.
Hi! I am so sorry to hear what you and your husband have been going through. I am so happy to hear your husband is now doing better. Hold strong in faith, help is coming. Yes, I still do prayer requests, and of course will add you and your family to our Prayer List.🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️

We pray for them to receive the help of our loving God who promised us HE would never forsake us. With your close relationship with Jesus we pray for you to intercede on behalf of our friends, all our friends who face the same financial problems. This may be the last of this story, or I may continue, to be determined.
Awards Season pt 3
With someone taking over compressions her partner had a chance to fully see their beloved laying helpless on the floor of the stage, gown ripped open to her waist, like a wrapper around her bare chest, which was being forced to cave in-time to the counts of the man pressing into her. “Fifteen and sixteen and seventeen and eighteen.”
Her eyelids were slit open slightly revealing glassy and distant eyes. Her face was rapidly turning a horrifying shade of gray with undertones of blue from a complete lack of circulation underneath thick layers of makeup painted on her by the stylist’s team. Her mouth gaping open, occasionally opening, her tongue primally searching for air that her lungs were too weak to bring in. “Twenty-seven and twenty-eight and twenty-nine and thirty”
The starlet’s beloved leaned down to her face where they gently sealed their lips over hers and gave two deep, long, hot breaths into her lungs, making sure that her breasts lifted as their air was forced into her.
Mercifully someone in a tuxedo arrived with an AED and handed it to the rescuer. This snapped her partner out of their trance and they became a physician with a dying patient, not a partner with a dying lover.
“Do not stop compressions,” they yelled at the person kneeling next to her as they interlocked their hands in between her breasts and started forcing them into the bruise that was now forming. The AED was opened and one pad was placed above her right breast and below the collar bone, the second was placed on her side directly beneath her left breast. The unit was switched on and instructed everyone to stand clear of the patient while it searched for something to shock into a heart rhythm for the starlet laying still before them.
“Where is the fucking ambulance?” Her beloved yelled, as her snotty manager replied “they’re on their, way, stuck in traffic, they want to know if she’s taken anything.”
“Tell them she has congestive heart failure and she just drank however much caffeine you gave her earlier.” Replied her rescuer before being interrupted by the automated voice of the AED.”
“Shock advised”
Her lover shoved the person who had been doing compressions aside and again took over beating the starlet’s heart externally while the AED charged. The unit gave two beeps to notify that it was ready to send a shock through the quivering heart between them.
“CLEAR” yelled her rescuer, and the crowd around the scene instinctually stepped away from the horror unfolding before them. The rescuer pushed the flashing red button in the middle of the unit.
Her chest and torso curled in slightly as the “ka-thunk” of 100 joules of power were shot through her failing heart.
Her lover squeezed her left wrist in between their fingers and dug two fingers deep into the side of her neck, face dropping as the mechanical voice of the AED conformed their findings and commanded, “continue CPR”
Something snaps in the rescuer and despite the large crowd surrounding them, the only thing that mattered in this moment was keeping their beloved with them.
They sealed their lips over hers and forced her chest to lift with two deep breaths, then interlocked their hands and started deep and hard compressions.
The scene on the stage was horrific. A young starlet laying on the shiny black floor lifeless, face blueing from lack of oxygen, head rocking back and forth, shoulders caving in while her lover forcefully beats into her bare chest, breasts caving in each time their hands forced her heart to move between her sternum and spine. Only occasionally giving the woman reprieve to force her chest to rise with deep breaths. Laying on the ground just feet from the scene was the award that was meant for the woman who was dying in front of everyone.
It took thee rounds of this, 90 compressions, to get anything that could be shocked back into rhythm. Her rescuer starting with encouragement, “you got this baby just take a breath,” to begging, “please breathe baby, please take a breath,” to full desperation sobs of “stay with me.” Before the digital voice of the AED said “shock advised”
The rescuer gave another round of desperate compressions, this time just sobbing incoherently while the AED charged. They didn’t even bother to yell at everyone to clear off of her body before they shocked, people were either staring in horror or had turned their back to the pain in front of them.
Her chest curled in harder as a stronger pulse shot through her heart. Her chest began to heave and a sickening gasp rang though the auditorium. Her partner rolled her onto her side and started giving rescue breaths.
She received at least 10 rescue breaths before the doors at the back of the auditorium crashed open revealing a team of paramedics assailed by a wall of flashbulbs. The rescuer holding the starlet looks up with relief and yells “She’s back but she isn’t responding, she needs oxygen, she was down for 17 minutes and her pulse is tachy.”
The paramedics swarm the scene, moving people away and rushing to help the lifeless starlet before them.

Boarding School for Giants (23/25)
------ Chapter 23 ------
I felt like I had made a terrible mistake. My heart was crushed into dust, and I had pulverized Joey’s in the process. I could hardly stand to face him again after what I had so cruelly inflicted upon him. How could I do such a thing to him, to sweet, innocent Joey? Did he comprehend where I was coming from, how I felt? He saw me in the hospital after I had been injured at the hands of the giant principal, so he must understand at least to some extent. Not to mention he witnessed me nearly get eaten at the diner. I hoped he would understand.
The night was long, and I didn’t sleep well. I was tossing and turning all night, and when I did manage to sleep I had troubled dreams. I had nightmares of green eyes and carnivorous teeth, giant hands crunching my bones, being swallowed alive. I faced the next day with a pit of dread in my gut and stark reflections in my head. I showered and dressed, as usual, and packed up my backpack, bringing my new laptop with me. I went outside to wait for Joey, wondering what I could possibly say to him to make things right, to soften the blow from last night. I started to wonder if he would even stop by to pick me up on his way to school, or give up and abandon me, and my chest tightened with shame. I felt even worse when I saw his lofty figure coming towards me from afar, chiding myself for ever thinking he would ignore me.
The giant came up and stood over me stiffly, not speaking. I glanced up at him, then opted to sheepishly examine his immense shoes on either side of me instead. I felt smaller than ever. Finally, he crouched down and silently offered me his hand in a conciliatory gesture. I hesitantly climbed into his palm, still too ashamed to look him in the face. As he stood up and began walking, I mustered up the courage to stare him in the eye and have an honest conversation with him again.
“Joey, I wanted to apolog-” I began.
“No,” he interrupted, “You have nothing to be sorry about. I’m the one who should be apologizing to you.” I met his soft chocolate eyes with mine, confused.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
He took a heavy breath. “I... acted on pure emotion last night, with no regard to your feelings. I’m sorry for just running off like that. I should have considered what was best for you, not what I would want personally.” His statement was succinct, but eloquent. “I want you to be my girlfriend, but not if it means you’re not making the right choice for yourself.” His lips quivered. “I don’t want you to be hurt because of me.”
“Aww, Joey...” I said, “I don’t blame you for how you reacted. It was completely understandable under the circumstances. Keep in mind, I still haven’t made a decision yet. So, I might still choose to stay.”
“R-really?” Joey stammered hopefully.
“Yeah,” I answered, sounding more optimistic than I felt. Internally I had a weight crushing me down, the weight of a terrible choice. I glanced over at the new watch strapped to my wrist. It was a reminder of the danger I faced, but also a link to the man who could become my father. I was deeply conflicted.
We went to the cafeteria for breakfast, where Stephanie and a couple of her friends were eagerly waiting for us. “Eren!” she sang when she spotted me, bobbing up and down with manic energy, “I have some people here who want to meet you!” Her two friends smiled awkwardly. Joey collected our food and sat down at the table with all the giantesses, keeping me close to himself on the table.
“This is Lucy,” Stephanie said, pointing to a busty redhead with a comely face. “And this is Selena.” The other girl was darker in complexion, with silky black hair that cascaded down her shoulders.
“Hello,” I greeted them, offering my hand for a finger handshake. I was proud of myself for not shrinking back or shaking when introduced to new giant people. Lucy offered me a firm digit with an elegant gleaming nail to shake. Selena was shyer, but with some encouragement from Stephanie she timidly gave me her limp finger, with a dull nail chewed down to the nub.
We chatted for a few minutes, with mostly Stephanie and Lucy gabbing on while Selena stayed quiet. Soon enough the bell rang, and Joey chauffeured me to my first class, which was math. I was confounded to see that by some miracle I had passed my math test from Monday with a B-, despite my back being bruised and flayed when I took the test.
The teacher decided to split us into groups to do sample problems. I felt panicky at this development, thinking I would be forced to approach a group of intimidating giants, or be ignored and get in trouble with the teacher for not having a group. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that several of the giant students were eager for the chance to approach and get to know me, since most of them had never talked to a human before and were curious. In a twist I didn’t expect, the class period was actually a lot of fun. I made new friends while learning math simultaneously.
What was going on? Was I going native, turning into a nerd like Joey? I supposed such a transformation wouldn’t be a bad thing. Plus, people were being nice to me, and I was making friends! What a great bonus! On top of that, I was happy, even content. The feeling only bloomed more when the bell rang and Joey magically appeared by my side to whisk me away to my next class. I was relieved that the awkwardness from this morning between us seemed to have dissipated, and he was recovering from the shock of the emotional blow from last night.
My next class was English. Since I had done the homework assignment from Monday, I at least had an idea of what was going on this time. I had missed Wednesday’s class, so I was a little lost, but I caught up quickly. We had a test today so I got the chance to use my laptop’s camera function to scale up my finished test and email it to the teacher to grade. The process went smoothly and I was pleased with the results. Other than that, the class was uneventful, and soon enough the bell rang for lunch, summoning a loyal, grinning Joey to my side. I eagerly jumped into his hand, holding his thumb for support.
Joey stroked me with his thumb, and opened his mouth to say something when suddenly he was shoved into the wall. He grunted as his shoulder slammed up against the solid surface and shielded me with his hands as best he could, so I wouldn’t get hurt. I bounced against his fingers but was left unscathed. Joey groaned and curled his body around me instinctively to protect from another attack.
“So, the nerd thinks he has himself a girlfriend,” a repugnant voice snarled. I knew that vile voice, and my stomach dropped. Drake. The giant brute grabbed Joey’s shoulder and flipped him back against the wall violently, pinning him down with a muscled arm. With me in the protective cage of his fingers, clasped against his torso, Joey couldn’t fight back. He grimaced in pain while the taller, stronger giant sneered down at him. Drake’s icy blue eyes drifted down to me; he glared at me with a rapacious leer that chilled me down to the marrow of my bones.
“Hey there, baby. I missed you,” he sneered. I recoiled in disgust, a feeling that only intensified when he winked at me and licked his lips hungrily.
“Stop it,” Joey rasped through his physical discomfort, his glasses askew on his face. Drake’s blue eyes hardened into shards of ice when he glanced back up at Joey.
“Oh yeah?” Drake said. “And what are you gonna do to stop me?” He pressed his full weight into his thick arm on Joey’s chest, making the poor boy wheeze as he struggled to breathe. I could only watch in horror, powerless to stop him.
“That’s right. Nothing,” Drake growled. Those eyes, cold as glaciers in the Arctic, rotated back down to me. Drake reached over with his free hand, huge and menacing, and wrenched apart Joey’s fingers. I shrieked in terror as he pried me out of Joey’s hands. Joey tried his best to resist, but then went limp, defeated. The giant bully threw him to the ground and kicked him in the belly, sniggering. Joey coughed and retched, crunching up in agony.
“Help! Hel-” I screamed, but Drake covered my mouth with his finger to shut me up and clenched his fist around me tighter.
“None of that,” he scolded. “You’re my girlfriend now, and you’ll do as I say. Or else.” His threat made me cease my squirming as I froze up under his chilling gaze. There was nothing I could do. Nothing. I could resist, fight back, bite his fingers, curse him out, but he would simply crush me in his fist like the tiny creature I was. Or do something worse, something unthinkable. I shuddered, feeling hopelessness drip into my heart. Joey couldn’t protect me from every horror in this world.
“Let her go!” a shrill voice cried. Stephanie! The giant finger covering my mouth loosened momentarily from the distraction; I writhed and twisted my head around to see Stephanie with her big group of giantess friends.
“Stephanie, help me!” I screeched before I was engulfed in the giant’s fist again. Drake gave me a painful warning squeeze and I became rigid with fear.
“Let her go! Let her go!” several giantess voices chanted. Drake was suddenly surrounded by a crowd of students in the hallway, outnumbered. My new friends I made in math class had joined in too. “Let her go! Let her go!” The frenzied mob closed in and Drake took a step back, stumbling over Joey’s body collapsed on the floor. He backed up to the wall and shrank down, as if the crowd were draining his power away. He was plainly unsettled by all the unwanted attention that had disrupted his plans to clandestinely steal me away.
Finally, Drake scowled. “Fine.” He reluctantly reached out his fist and deposited me in Stephanie’s waiting hands. “Bitches,” he muttered, and scurried off in disgrace. The crowd of students cheered. I sighed in relief, slumping into the giantess’s hand. A couple of students helped a battered Joey back up to his feet, propping him up against the wall until he could regain his footing on his own. He groaned, straightened out his clothes, and wiped strings of saliva and bile off his chin from his gagging fit.
“Thank you,” I said, feeling the tears run down my face. “Thank you so much.” That situation could have become so much worse if she hadn’t shown up.
Stephanie grinned. “What are friends for, after all? We’ll always have your back!” I looked around at all the giant faces around me, some familiar, such as Lucy and Selena, and some new. I had friends. I had people who cared about me and wouldn’t let me fall. I wiped up my tears and smiled. “Let’s get some lunch!” Stephanie shouted in a rallying cry, raising her fist, and the group of students hollered in agreement and charged into the lunchroom, full of victorious energy from their conquest.
Rather than follow her friends, Stephanie turned to Joey, who was still recovering from the beating he had endured. He gripped his midsection with one hand, and his eyes looked dead inside, but he was able to stand firmly on his own now. “Here,” she said, handing me back to Joey. She was more understanding of my needs than I initially gave her credit for. “When you two lovebirds are ready, you’re free to join us in the lunchroom.” She skipped off to give us some privacy.
Joey was burning with shame. “I’m sorry, Eren,” he apologized, massaging the growing bruises on his chest and belly. “I wasn’t able to protect you.” His eyes shined behind his glasses, and I realized he was struggling to hold back tears.
“It’s okay, Joey,” I reassured him, trying my best to calm him down. “Nothing bad happened to me. I’m not hurt. It’s okay.”
A pregnant pause. “Maybe... it would be better if you didn’t stay,” Joey said, barely above a whisper, his voice a weakened whine. With that excruciating remark hanging over us, dripping with despair, he trudged into the lunchroom with me in tow, utterly vanquished.

Whumptober Day 2 - I Saw Everything
Fandom: Original Fiction (H.O.U.N.D.S.) Prompt(s): Made to Watch Rating: Teen Additional Tags: whump, hurt/comfort, friendship, found family, off-screen character death, spy-fi
“Minnow!” Cassandra called, running through grey corridors lined with solid, metal doors.  “Minnow!”
Cassandra turned a corner.  The doors down this hallway each had a window near the top.
“Minnow!” Cassandra called again.  No answer.  Starting with the first door on her left, Cassandra began peering into each window, zigzagging back and forth across the hall.
Most of the rooms were dark.  Cassandra didn’t have the time to investigate each one in the off-chance that Minnow was trapped in there, hidden in plain sight.  It had already been a week since she’d gone silent, and her last message…Cassandra shook her head.  She didn’t want to think about it.
“Minnow!” she repeated.  She looked through a window—someone had left this light on, and she could see it was somebody’s office.  Somebody’s empty office.
“Minnow!”  Cassandra hurried to the next door.  And the next.  And the next.  Finally, long after Cassandra had lost count of how many doors she’d looked through, and how many of them had enough light to see anything, she came to a window that showed a figure laying on what looked a lot like a doctor’s exam table.
“Minnow!”  Cassandra knocked on the window, but the figure didn’t move.  A thin blanket was pulled tightly around her shoulders, and Cassandra could see her chest slowly rise and fall.
Cassandra took a pair of hairpins out of her hair and set to work on the lock.  Almost…almost…shit, she lost it.
Minnow had always been better at lockpicking than she was.
Cassandra had no choice but to try again.  Almost…almost…the lock gave a click, and Cassandra quickly flung open the door before it changed its mind.  She rushed inside, leaving the door to bang against the wall.
“Minnow!” Cassandra cried, rushing to her side.
Minnow looked terrible.  Her hair looked like it hadn’t been brushed in days, and her face shone with beads of sweat.  Cassandra pressed the back of her hand to Minnow’s forehead.  Sure enough, she was burning up.
Minnow opened her eyes—wide, wild—and a hand darted out of the blanket to grab onto Cassandra.
“Cass!” Minnow said.  Her voice sounded strange, almost feral, if Cass didn’t know any better.  “Cass, they took her!  They took her!”  She broke down into sobs.
“Took who?” Cass asked, startled.
“Joan!  Joan!  They took her, Cass. Oh, it was awful…”
Joan.  The agent that Minnow had come looking for.  Cassandra bit back a curse.  She knew she should have come with Minnow.  She knew that this would be more important than the Button case.
“It’s ok, Minnow.  We’ve got a team looking for her now.  They’re sweeping the building…”
But Minnow was shaking her head.  “It’s too late, Cass.  She’s gone.  They killed her.  I saw it.  I saw everything.”
A pang went through Cassandra’s entire body, sending a rock to her gut and tingles through her fingers.  Cassandra had no choice but to shake it off.
“Let’s get you out of here,” she said, rising to her feet.
But Minnow clutched onto the front of Cassandra’s shirt, holding on like a drowning man might hold onto anything within his reach.  “Don’t leave me, Cassie, don’t leave me…” Minnow sobbed.
“Hey, shhh,” Cassandra said.  She frowned.  Minnow was in really bad shape.  She took Minnow’s hands in her own and gently removed them from her shirt.  “I’m not leaving you.  You’re coming with me.”
Cassandra pulled the blanket off of her friend and coaxed her into swinging her feet over the edge of the bed and putting them on the floor.  Cassandra gently pulled her to her feet.  Minnow immediately began to crumple, so Cassandra pulled her arm over her own shoulders.
“Lean on me,” she said.
Minnow trembled.
“Come on, that’s it,” Cassandra said as they began to walk.  “First one step, then the next…”
They continued this way, Cassandra murmuring words of encouragement as they slowly, slowly made their way back up the corridors.  The stairs were even harder—by then, Minnow was shaking so badly that Cassandra was afraid she would rattle right out of her grip.  But she held on tight and encouraged her up each step.  Cassandra gave a silent prayer of thanks that another group of H.O.U.N.D.S. agents had already neutralized the F.E.L.I.S. lackeys that had been running this joint.
Finally, they reached the top of the stairs.  Just about a hundred more feet until the door.
“Come on, Minnow, we’re almost there,” Cassandra said, practically dragging her now.  Cassandra wished she were stronger.  She wished for a full moon.  Hell, she wished for any moon.
They inched toward the door.  75 feet…50 feet…25 feet…
Minnow slipped right out of Cassandra’s grasp and onto the floor.
“Minnow!” Cassandra cried.  She crouched down and put her shoulder under Minnow’s, ready to pull her back up.  She tried to keep her voice upbeat.  “We’re almost there!  We can’t stop now!”
“I can’t!” Minnow gasped.
“Sure you can!  Look,” Cassandra pointed, “the door is right there.  That’s as far as we need to go, and then you can rest for as long as you want.  Ok?”
Minnow looked blearily towards where Cassandra was pointing.  Then, she nodded.
Cassandra lifted her back up, and together, they hobbled to the door.  Cassandra shoved it open with her free shoulder, and they were thrust, squinting, into the bright sunlight.
Ok, so Cassandra had lied.  They had about 50 more feet to go to get to the waiting H.O.U.N.D.S. truck.  She didn’t say anything, and Minnow didn’t, either, as they made their way over.  The driver jumped out of the cab and rushed around to open the doors.
“Any injuries?” she asked.
“I didn’t check,” Cassandra said.
Dolly, the driver, easily scooped Minnow up bridal-style and brought her into the back of the truck.
Cassandra rolled her aching shoulder, catching her breath.  She hadn’t realized just how taxing it had been to carry all of Minnow’s weight.
Dolly lowered Minnow into the cot and started tending to her, carefully inspecting her for wounds.
Cassandra twisted the gem on her communicator ring.  “Agent Jacobson calling Delta team.”
After a few seconds of static, a tinny voice returned from the ring.  “Delta team.”
Cassandra took a moment to gather her thoughts.  “I have Agent George.  She reports that…Agent Shaw is dead.”
There was a pause on the other end of the channel.  “Please repeat last message.”
Cassandra took a deep breath and closed her eyes.  “Minnow said that Agent Shaw is dead.  I have no other evidence at this time to confirm.”
“Copy.  Over and out.”
Cassandra turned her communicator ring off with a click.  She took another moment to compose herself and then climbed in the back of the truck.

Rely On The God Of Grace
Tumblr media
Many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, and the two men urged them to continue to rely on the grace of God. Acts 13:43 One Sabbath day, Paul and Barnabas went to the synagogue for a regular service in Antioch of Pisidia. While in attendance, they received the following invitation. After the usual readings from the books of Moses and the prophets, those in charge of the service sent them this message: "Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, come and give it." Acts 13:15 God opened the door for those two men to share the good news of the gospel. After Paul quieted the crowd, he got their attention by talking about their ancestry. The God of this nation of Israel chose our ancestors and made them multiply and grow strong during their stay in Egypt. Then with a powerful arm he led them out of their slavery. He put up with them through forty years of wandering in the wilderness. Acts 13:17-18 He told them how the Lord provided the land He promised to their forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Then he destroyed seven nations in Canaan and gave their land to Israel as an inheritance. All this took about 450 years. Acts 13:19-20 The apostle reminded them that God gave judges to rule until the time of Samuel the prophet. Then, after they demanded a king, the Lord appointed one named Saul, son of Kish. But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, 'I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.' Acts 13:21
The Transition in Paul's Message
Paul finished this historical account of the nation of Israel by talking about King David, an Israeli hero. In other words, he had everyone's attention. He then brought Jesus into the conversation. And it is one of King David's descendants, Jesus, who is God's promised Savior of Israel! Acts 13:22 Up until this point, the Jews practiced the offering of sacrifices according to the law of Moses. Sacrificing animals was their way of life. They knew nothing about the grace of God. Many in the synagogue that day may have heard of John the Baptist or had even seen him. So Paul referred to this forerunner of Jesus and the message he preached. Before he came, John the Baptist preached that all the people of Israel needed to repent of their sins and turn to God and be baptized. Acts 13:24 When the crowds asked John if he was the Messiah, Paul said he denied it. He said, however, that the Messiah was coming soon. Then, Paul transitioned by speaking directly to his audience. Brothers—you sons of Abraham, and also you God-fearing Gentiles—this message of salvation has been sent to us! Acts 13:26
Tumblr media
From the Law to the Grace of God
The apostle brought them from following the law to relying on the grace of God. He also pointed to the fulfillment of scripture because not everyone recognized Jesus as the Messiah. The people in Jerusalem and their leaders did not recognize Jesus as the one the prophets had spoken about. Instead, they condemned him, and in doing this they fulfilled the prophets' words that are read every Sabbath. Acts 13:27 They fulfilled all the prophecies about him when they moved him from the cross to the tomb. But that's not the end of the story. God raised him from the dead! And many saw Him alive. So that day, Paul and Barnabas took an opportunity to share a word of encouragement. They offered life to their listeners by bringing relevancy to their heritage. And now we are here to bring you this Good News. The promise was made to our ancestors, and God has now fulfilled it for us, their descendants, by raising Jesus. Acts 13:32-33 Paul shared that God made a new covenant when Jesus died on the cross. One that He made available to everyone. Everyone who believes in him is made right in God's sight—something the law of Moses could never do. Acts 13:39
How was the Message Received?
The people asked these two men to give a word of encouragement to those in the synagogue that day. In fact, the people probably encouraged them beyond measure. Look at the people's response. As Paul and Barnabas left the synagogue that day, the people begged them to speak about these things again the next week. Acts 13:42 So, the missionaries gave them one more word of encouragement before they left. The two men urged them to continue to rely on the grace of God. They did return the following week. This time, however, some jealous Jews confronted them. They slandered Paul and argued against whatever he said. Even at that, they preached effectively. But not to the Jews who rejected their message. They preached to the Gentiles, who welcomed the grace of God. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles. When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; Acts 13:46,48 God has instructed us to share His message of grace and mercy. The message of Jesus, crucified on the cross, died and rose again, making salvation available to all. Will everyone listen? Probably not. Will some respond? Possibly. We often decide that someone will reject the message instead of letting them decide. So, let's depend on the grace of God and share the message like Paul did. Give the person you're talking to the opportunity to accept or reject the message for themselves. Lord, give us the boldness that Paul had when sharing the message of salvation. Oh God, help us to rely on your grace every day.
