"Your Splendor"
Your splendor is a beacon
Upon the distant shores
Guiding many a traveller
To haven's abode
Hope is restored within
The hearts in the darkest
Hour. Your luminance rays
Rekindle all that was forlorn
There is laughter in the air
The sun shinning brighter
Than yesteryear as all
Footsteps alight as of yore
Exhilaration lingers about
As time exits and reenters
On continuum; delight is now
A permanent dweller of the core
2/28/23 @J.
Emma D'Arcy 🥰 has brought exhilaration to many hearts upon their portrayal as Rhaenyra Targaryen. The nuances added by them has given a three-dimensional layer to the character, hence adding depth.
Now let's imagine more screen time and a script worthy of their acting capability, how compelling season two will be. Now about Emma D'Arcy in ARMOR HBO, Showrunner and writing staff?
Please let them be clad in armor 🙏, pretty please?

Fuck it I'm gonna talk about it.
Since this has become such a big discourse on twitter I wanna give my opinion but not on twitter fuck that I'm doing it here.
Milly Alcock's fans have been very persistent and annoying wanting to say that young Rhaenyra is just as, if not more important than Emma D'Arcy's Rhaenyra and to that I say, y'all are delusional, the main story is ALL about Rhaenyra in her adult years everything happens during that time, the version of her from the "present time" is Emma's version, Milly was just doing the flashbacks basically, so young Rhaenyra/Milly's version will NEVER be as important, and Emma is the lead and they are playing Rhaenyra NOT adult or older Rhaenyra it's just Rhaenyra, there's only one Rhaenyra.
And that's just half of it bc then it begins a whole other delusion where they like to say that "older Rhaenyra/Emma D'arcy's fandom is a minority" when it's the furthest from the truth I think people forget about algorithm, social media will show you what they think you might like if you tend to like more young Rhaenyra stuff OBVIOUSLY more stuff about her will appear does not mean she's more popular or had a bigger impact, it's the bubble you're in and the bias you have and this superiority complex is very weird, and let's not even talk about the fact that her fans want to use Instagram followers to talk about a character's impact saying that Milly has more than a million followers so she had more impact than Emma who hasn't reached a million, as if followers and talent have anything to do with each other, using followers to compare something like this shows how shallow some of this people are, but if they really wanna go down this route they should probably look at awards and not followers and I mean which one was nominated for a golden globe + an imdb award + the n1 most searched actor of 2022 or something like that, y'all 👏 are 👏 ridiculous. Oh and let's not forget the transphobia being a huge factor towards the whole followers thing for example (and not just that it impacts a lot of things) but y'all want to ignore that obviously.
I guess some people are still hella bitter that Milly is not coming back and forget that Emma WILL come back, the only reason Milly was in the main poster and all that shit is bc she appeared first bc she plays the young version it's not that hard to understand, she wouldn't be if that wasn't the case.

They haven’t gone unnoticed among their peers, however, with their performance in just five episodes of the first season earning them a 2023 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. ‘I didn’t know, and it was Matt [Smith] who texted me congratulations. It was a really beautiful way to find out. He’s the perfect person to deliver news like that.’ Smith, who plays D’Arcy’s uncle and lover (yes, really) in the series, is an inspiration, they say. ‘He’s just someone that I love, he’s like a dear friend so it’s difficult to recontextualise him as a famous person. He has an admirable work ethic and is never content to rest on his laurels. He’s constantly seeking something new, an interpretation of the text, something spontaneous, something alive.’
Emma found out they were nominated for a golden globe because Matt told them! That’s so funny and cute!

HotD and the Golden Globes
House of the Dragon may have won the Golden Globe for "Best Drama TV Series", but it doesn't validate the characterizations, the writing, or ideas present in the writing of the show. Even if Fire and Blood didn't exist, this show is not very good once you think about it. There are too many inconsistencies of logic and the show's own internal lore to see it as a well-written story. And Ryan Condal 's "theory of accidents" is not a good or logical way to characterize or set up a character's motivations since it makes them more reactive instead of active (Seth Abramson on Substack). It also reduces both agency and accountability for characters like Alicent and Aemond, while muddling their motivation and creating doubt in their ability to reason. These are not even minor charater's, either. Both are absolutely essential to how the Dance went as it did, and the first's actions against Rhaenyra is the reason why the Dance even existed in the first place.
And then, once you do take into account that this is supposed to be an adaptation, the logic, characterizations, themes, etc actually all so different or inconsistent from those things that are unbiasedly true in the canon account of the Dance of the Dragons in Fire and Blood, it is impossible to count this as a adaptation and not a poorly written fanfiction. Especially in context of the treatment of women in Westeros after Rhaenyra's death and what Daenerys "Stormborn" Targaryen does and represents in the book series A Game of Thrones and the TV adaptation Game of Thrones. @brideoffires writes this POST and @la-pheacienne writes this ONE about ASoIaF's world's misogyny.
A show getting awards does not automatically make it a good show in of itself nor prove its excellence, since it is also clear that awards like the Globes do not necessarily hand awards because the show is well-written. The Globes is a huge culprit of dirty business or susness because the people responsible for choosing who/what wins or gets nominated for any Globe -- the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, or the HFPA-- is suspect and has a real history of being bought out or "wined and dined" and excluding or snubbing much better shows and films. And some or most of those snubbed have a pattern of being PoC-written, PoC-starred, etc. Emily in Paris over I May Destroy You, anyone?
The LA Times article that I listed has this:
Over its nearly eight-decade history, the HFPA has weathered a string of embarrassing scandals, lawsuits and often blistering criticism of its membership. The group has been the butt of jokes even from the stage of its own awards show. Hosting in 2016, Ricky Gervais dismissed the Globes as “worthless,” calling the award “a bit of metal that some nice old confused journalists wanted to give you in person so they could meet you and have a selfie with you.” In a 2014 interview, actor Gary Oldman said the group was “90 nobodies having a wank” and called for a boycott of the “silly game” their awards represent.
Yet despite all this, the HFPA has managed to carve out a unique and improbable position of influence. Its members — relatively few of whom work full time for major overseas outlets — are routinely granted exclusive access to Hollywood power players, invited to junkets in exotic locales, put up in five-star hotels and, as Globes nominations near, lavished with gifts, dinners and star-studded parties. To the studios, networks and celebrities that court its favor and exploit its awards as a marketing tool, the group is at once fawned over, derided and grudgingly tolerated. (Four years after blasting the HFPA, Oldman thanked them when accepting his first-ever Globe for his turn as Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour.”)
Now, I am not talking about Emma D'Arcy's nomination for "Lead Actress" (despite them being nonbinary), because as an performer Emma is and was great in HotD. I am talking about the show and its writing.

Don't get me wrong I love Milly Alcock, but saying that she deserved a golden globe nomination but not Emma D'Arcy is the biggest joke ever, once again both are great but Emma has a lot more range and challenging scenes where they were able to show off Rhaenyra so...

Gonna Do Something Fun With Award Shows From Now On:
I'm not really going to predict who will win, I'm just gonna put on my blog who I REALLY want to win lol so the Golden Globes was just announced and that's the one I'm gonna do.
So here we go!
Golden Globes:
Original Song:
Hold My Hand by Lady Gaga. I love her and I love Top Gun Maverick.
Drama Motion Picture:
Shoot. Toss up for me. I LOVED Top Gun Maverick but Elvis was amazing as well. If either of them win I'll be happy.
Actress in a Musical/Comedy Motion Picture:
Michelle Yeoh. I'm sorry but why is this amazing tear jerking film in Comedy/Musical?! It is neither a musical (tho I do not object to one) or a comedy. Disrespect!
Actor in a Musical/Comedy Film:
I can't choose. They are all amazing. These performances are all Oscar worthy. I just think whoever wins deserved it. Moving on!
Musical or Comedy Motion Picture:
All Good but I'm gonna have to go with Everything Everywhere All at Once. Not a Comedy but whatever lol
Actor in Drama Motion Picture:
Shoot again!! I love Austin Butler but Brendan Fraser was amazing in The Whale!! To see him win a Golden Globe would be the best thing ever!! If either win again I'll be happy.
Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture:
Ke Huy Quan. His comeback to film was sensational. He and Michelle Yeoh had such great chemistry! Rooting for him!
Director of a Motion Picture:
Why are two directors who worked on the same film being pitted against each other?? Well anyway I'm rooting for both Daniel and Daniel of EEAAO and Stephen Spielberg of the Fabelmans.
Foreign Language Film:
I don't know any of them....sorry gotta do more research!
Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture:
Jamie Lee Curtis. She was great. I've never been made to cry by Jamie Lee. She usually makes me laugh! Even in Halloween. But oh my gosh I was bawling.
Actress in a Drama Motion Picture:
Um....the only one I've seen is the Fablemans. I don't know if that's the best performance out of all of them and I might see the others before the GGs air but for now Michelle Williams. Tho I do love Cate Blanchette....
Actress in a Drama TV Series:
Oh come on!! This is just unfair! Emma D'Arcy, Hilary Swank, Imelda Stauton, Laura Linney, and Zendeya?!?! I wish them all good fortune and a Golden Globe.
Drama TV Series:
House of the Dragon. I would say Ozark but I hated the ending (I know I'm biased). I'm in love with House of the Dragon.
Actor in a Drama Series:
Adam Scott. I may not have seen Severance yet (I know I'm ashamed) but I've seen his performance in clips and I just have to cheer for him.
Original Score:
Gotta go with Banshee. That Irish Music is just so gorgeous.
Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series:
Kaley Cucoc. 100%
Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV Series:
I think you would all be shocked if I didn't say Bill Hader. Always.
Screenplay of a Motion Picture:
D2 of EEAAO. Oh sure let them both be winners with this award but not Best Director.
Animated Featured Film:
Turning Red. Great animation. Fun story. Adorable transformations.
Musical or Comedy Series:
Where is Barry?!? Okay I'll go with Abbott Elementary (another one I need to watch)
Miniseries or TV Film:
Black Bird. Underappreciated. And amazing.
Supporting Actor in a TV Series Musical/Comedy/Drama:
I'm very confused why these are all bunched together but Henry Winkler. How are the actors of Barry being nominated but Barry isnisn't??
Supporting Actress in a TV Series Musical/Comedy/Drama:
Julia Gardner. She made the show for me. And Jason Bateman. Love them both.
Supporting Actor in Limited Series:
Paul Walter Hauser. Killed it. (No pun intended).
Supporting Actress in a Limited Series:
Daisy Edgar-Jones. I love her. She is going places! I hope!
Wait....where's Taron?
Edit:
Tumblr media
Here he is!! Thank you!!

thoughts on the golden globe nominations?
Insane behavior to nominate Julia Garner for Inventing Anna while ignoring Toni Collette for The Staircase. Like. Objectively!!! Insane.
Imelda got nominated because they figured The Crown was better than it was this season... I'm gonna be real, Elizabeth Debicki was so good as Diana but was the material giving her something for a nom...? I don't know, man. I felt like Diana was barely onscreen much of the time, and didn't get a lot of *big moments*. Elizabeth didn't get the type of material Emma Corrin got, that's for sure.
None of the Drama series noms excite me... I do think Emma D'Arcy is very talented so I'm happy for them, but HOTD being nominated is a sign of the times.
Yay for Abbott Elementary and Hacks! Every nom they got was worthy. The Bear... is a comedy...? Okay.
I hate that Monster got nominated for Best Limited Series, such a fucking hackjob of a show.
AVATAR being nominated is... So ridiculously Globes. But who knows? Everyone is collectively gaslighting each other about those movies, so maybe we'll see it at the Oscars? EL OH EL!!!
Top Gun: Maverick being nominated is hilarious, and I say this as someone who actually did enjoy that movie for what it was. Like... stop the count.
I haven't seen Tar (yet), but I am getting increasingly annoyed at a movie that is apparently about Me Too but make it a ~predatory lesbian~ instead of Harvey Weinstein and "maybe cancel culture is bad" is... taking a lot of shine off better movies. Like. I know that everyone has a boner for Cate Blanchett despite her being a Woody Allen sympathizer, but? Maybe take a look at some of the commentary surrounding that movie? And its potential message? Yeah? Maybe consider why someone who stood by Woody would take that role, and the implications there?
Ana de Armas should not be getting noms for Blonde but okay.
Glass Onion's cast seems under-represented.
Yay for Michelle Yeoh, yay for Emma Thompson, yay for Ke Huy Quan, why is Jamie Lee Curtis being run for EEAAO and not Stephanie Hsu? Stephanie gave a POWERHOUSE performance in that movie.
The fact that The Fabelmans flopped getting a pass from awards outlets when it normally wouldn't get that pass... Just like West Side Story. Because Spielberg. Lmao.
Anyway, a lot of underwhelming noms. I honestly haven't felt jazzed about a lot of late stage awards contenders. For me, movies I saw earlier in the year (Everything Everywhere All At Once, most obviously) still reign. And same goes for performances. Insane!!! to me that we're talking about Cate Blanchett... again... for Tar, when Michelle Yeoh, Viola Davis, and even Emma Thompson gave the kind of performances that they gave earlier this year.
I feel like Best Actor for the Big Show could come down to Brendan and Austin, though it's still a bit early to tell. I have zero interest in seeing The Whale and I think there's a lot of valid critique surrounding it (and some that is less valid) but I'm not gonna lie, I love Brendan so I'd be happy to see him win after everything he's been through in the industry. Austin will almost definitely be nominated again at some point in his career, with the rate that he's going.

Emma D'Arcy ❤️, my heart gladdens that you're paving the way... that you've "looked into" yourself and became you: your inner you; the best part of ourselves is: the inner core.
Thank you for that reminder: to be ourselves--to be that inner child. Once again congratulations for your Golden Globe Nomination. Best Drama:
#Houseofthedragon🐉;
you were brilliant--the spark, that electrical current in season one❤️.

Emma D'Arcy ❤️ 🥰

According to: The Guardian (Hollie Richardson), Emma D'Arcy has done little Googling for the sake of their sanity.
At the beginning, it was necessary in my opinion; they had just walked into that role, replacing another actress.
Boy, did Emma D'Arcy prove their critics wrong. They have a Golden Globe Nomination for their electrifying performance as Rhaenyra Targaryen. I just can'twait for season two, can you?👏🥰❤️

Emma D'Arcy 🥰 is on my mind twenty four seven. This is a quick edit, for I am currently working on other projects that require more time to complete
[It is] ...what an actor does with the material given that elevates them to lead... D’Arcy’s standout work served as a reminder... (Indie Wire dot com)
The short excerpt above is from Indie Wire dot com. Emma D'Arcy only appeared in four episodes in HBO'S "House of the Dragon," and yet they were nominated for the Golden Globe Award. This speaks volume about their raw performance power: an innate talent like wildfires; it cannot be squelched.
Each new project is an experience. Hence, Emma D'Arcy can only excel at their craft. See, why I am so enthralled by them? "Touch the Sky," dear Emma. The Universe is at your fingertips.
