This is a viewpoint editorial by Hermann Vivier, co-founder of The Surfer Kids and Bitcoin Ekasi. On Aug. 5 2021, Joey Olden and Luthando Ndabambi strolled into JCC Camp, an area on the borders of Mossel Bay, South Africa. They had an objective: discover an area corner shop ready to offer them something for bitcoin. Their ultimate success later on that afternoon (when they purchased 2 cool beverages with sats sent out over the Lightning Network) might be called the minute Bitcoin Ekasi was born. Above: Aug. 5, 2021-- Bitcoin Ekasi is born. But the seeds that grew the job were planted long in the past. I was initially presented to Bitcoin in late 2013, following the banking crisis in Cyprus My other half and I run a surf-tourism company and, since she's Russian, we're mostly concentrated on the Eastern European and Russian markets. The crisis in Cyprus (together with the subsequent bailouts and associated confiscation of deposits) impacted lots of Russians and when I discovered Bitcoin-- thanks to a couple of early printed editions of Bitcoin Magazine and a pal who had actually purchased some on Mt. Gox-- it got my attention. On March, 25, 2013, a EUR10 billion global bailout by the European Central Bank, International Monetary Fund and others was revealed. This in return for Cyprus accepting close the nation's second-largest bank, the Cyprus Popular Bank, enforcing a one-time levy on all uninsured deposits there and taking around 48% of uninsured deposits in the Bank of Cyprus, the island's biggest industrial bank. A minority percentage of it was held by people of other nations (a lot of whom from Russia) and 47.5% of all bank deposits above EUR100,000 were taken. Like everyone, I did not right away comprehend what Bitcoin was or how it worked. I still do not comprehend a great deal of the finer technical information. It didn't take long to understand that, whatever this thing was, if what was composed in that publication were real, those individuals would not have had their cash arbitrarily taken if their cash had actually been in self-custodied bitcoin rather than a Cypriot bank. After having actually purchased a little bitcoin near the top in 2013 and doing my research when the cost crashed, we began accepting bitcoin payments from surf-trip customers in mid-2015 Unravel Surf Travel - KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, 2015 The very first Russian and Ukrainian dispute had actually broken out and, as an outcome of sanctions, sometimes bitcoin was the only method to get payments. On July 17, 2014, the United States extended its transactions-ban to 2 banks, Gazprombank and Vnesheconombank and, on Sept. 12, 2014, enforced sanctions on Russia's biggest bank, Sberbank. This impacted the capability of both normal Ukrainains and Russians to make worldwide transfers and, paradoxically, our very first surf-trip bitcoin payment (in May 2015) originated from Ukrainian travelers who were not able to pay as an outcome of sanctions versus Russia. Unravel Surf Travel - Mozambique, 2018 Fast forward to late2019 Episode 179 of the "What Bitcoin Did" podcast was my intro to Bitcoin Beach The concept of proactively constructing a circular Bitcoin economy made good sense and held terrific appeal. If Bitcoin was to provide on its pledge, it would need to become utilized for daily functions. And, doing this in a marginalized neighborhood, like El Zonte in El Salvador, appeared like a gorgeous illustration of the truth that there was no useful factor it could not be embraced anywhere else. It negated numerous of the typical fallacies one hears when speaking about mass adoption: it's too unstable; it's too intricate; it's just helpful for crooks and drug dealerships, and so on, and so on Listening to that interview with Michael Peterson, I recognized that we had the platform to do something comparable. Along with our tourist service my partner and I co-founded a little non-profit, The Surfer Kids, in2010 It was developed as a donation-based
company and the initial concept was to provide travelers some insight into what life resembled for 90% of South Africans, without taking part in the "let's- drive-through-the-slum" type tourist. We introduced a program that taught browsing to kids particularly from impoverished locations on a weekly basis and enabled a more positive interaction in between residents and travelers. By 2019 The Surfer Kids had actually grown and progressed into a program serving 40 kids going to browse sessions 5 days a week, throughout the year. The Surfer Kids - 2016 In 2021 Bitcoin Magazine offered me a platform to compose, which resulted in a podcast interview on By the Horns and, as an outcome, The Surfer Kids program got its very first bitcoin contribution in mid-2021 That was the last piece of the puzzle and the minute when the rubber actually struck the roadway. I might visualize the useful execution of the job, now called Bitcoin Ekasi. Link to ingrained Tweet. I approached The Surfer Kids' coaches, particularly our Senior Coach, Luthando, and proposed the concept. He 'd never ever become aware of Bitcoin prior to (besides from fraudsters) so, initially, we 'd invest 2 months talking about Bitcoin, me attempting to impart as much understanding as possible within a brief area of time. Second, Luthando took that recently obtained understanding and began talking with the owners of corner shops in the town, describing the possible useful advantages of accepting bitcoin as payment. The Surfer Kids' Senior Coach-- Luthando He came across a great deal of resistance. The majority of store owners thought (and numerous still do) that it's all one giant fraud. Many of his time was invested not so much discussing Bitcoin, however merely showing its ease of usage. Mobile applications like Bitrefill, Paxful and (more just recently) Azteco were important in revealing individuals that, yes, bitcoin remained in reality genuine cash. An individual's disposition would extremely rapidly modification from suspicion to interest as they experienced bitcoin-- transferred into a wallet by themselves phone-- being utilized to purchase mobile credit which got here near instantly with Bitrefill. Or withdrawing money from an atm, in spite of not having a checking account, with just a pin number, sent out by a complete stranger, who wanted to purchase bitcoin from them on Paxful. Store owners were filled with shock when we transformed coupons, which they currently equipped, into bitcoin with Azteco. In this method Luthando onboarded our very first shop (Kwallos Shop, owned by Nosihle and her spouse Vuyisa) in early August 2021 and at that point we started supplementing his existing fiat wage with bitcoin, which he might now invest at that shop. For 2 months Bitcoin Ekasi stayed absolutely nothing more than that. I continued to inform Luthando about all things Bitcoin and he would go into the municipality, invest his bitcoin wage purchasing groceries at Kwallos and speak to other store owners, showing and discussing the useful advantages of Bitcoin. Kwallos Shop, Nosihle and Luthando - January 2022 It took about 3 months to onboard the 2nd and 3rd shopkeeper and, in the interim, we started paying bitcoin incomes to our 3 junior coaches who helped Luthando in running The Surfer Kids' program. Up till that point, 2 of them had actually been volunteering/working as apprentices, with the hope that we 'd become able to pay for an income for them. The Surfer Kids' junior coaches, delegated right - Sandiso, Lukhangele Mbasa The 3rd Junior Coach, Lukhangele, (17) the most senior of the 3 junior coaches, had actually been making his income in money. He was (and still is) not able to open a checking account due to the fact that of a clerical error on his birth certificate; his money wage was frequently by force taken by older relative who utilized it for their own suspicious functions. Making money in bitcoin was a fascinating shift for him as he experienced having complete control over his own cash for the very first time.
Saving cash in a bitcoin wallet, safeguarded by a password, altered the household dynamic. He's the earliest brother or sister in the home and he's the huge sibling in a fatherless family. Regardless of still being a school-kid, his income (of about $150/ month) was the single most significant routine home contribution, with the remainder of the household mainly depending on social grants and periodic casual work. Bitcoin put him in the position where he might choose what-- and when-- he would add to the home. Above - The Surfer Kids Junior Coach - Lukhangele These sorts of experiences and useful usage cases stimulated me due to the fact that for the very first time I personally saw an extremely real-world effect of what bitcoin might perform in another person's life. I had actually experienced it in my own life, however in fact seeing monetary empowerment occurring in front of my own eyes, broadened my point of view on what's possible with bitcoin. The meme "Bitcoin repairs this" unexpectedly ended up being genuine, as I saw it impacting apparently unassociated social problems in favorable methods. And the more I experienced this, the more inspired I ended up being to drive this job forward as far as possible-- due to the fact that it's something to think that Bitcoin can alter the world, however to see it and experience it right in front of me, that actually lit the orange fire within me. It was around that time when some momentum began developing, both on the ground and on our Bitcoin Twitter profile, that Michael Peterson called me and provided the assistance of Bitcoin Beach His concept was to turn Bitcoin Beach into a worldwide motion whereby they support comparable tasks however permit them to construct and grow in their own special methods. This speaks with the decentralization of Bitcoin itself and stands in plain contrast to the world of fiat donations/funding where, in my experience, numerous donors anticipate an impractical level of impact and control when contributing to an NPO. Thanks to their assistance we've had the ability to extend our effect by doing some really interesting things, like introducing our kids' benefits program, designating a full-time Bitcoin teacher in our neighborhood, supplying store owners with Bitcoin signs, using full-time lifeguards to patrol our beaches and avoid drownings and selecting an extra Senior Coach, Akhona, to assist Luthando drive this job with more boots on the ground. Bitcoin Ekasi/ The Surfer Kids - Coaches and Lifeguards In addition, we are now supplying personnel uniforms to our broadened group of coaches and lifeguards, all of whom make 100% of their income in bitcoin and invest it purchasing groceries from stores we have actually onboarded. Above: Left to Right-- Good Morning Shop (Michael), Good Hope Shop and Isinyoka Shop The supreme concern, I think, is, "Why do this?" If you're a Bitcoiner, you understand why. It's my hope that routine individuals likewise read this and look at tasks like ours and Bitcoin Beach and feel influenced to believe much deeper and even more about the ramifications of Bitcoin on neighborhoods in South Africa and the Global South. There are 2 reasons I'm doing this. To support and broaden upon the initial objective of the The Surfer Kids' program, which has actually constantly been about individual empowerment. As a recuperating addict there is something I comprehend effectively, which's the reality that modification should originate from within The very best method to assist another is to reveal them how to assist themselves. Anything else produces reliance and, most of the time, has unfavorable long-lasting negative effects. And so The Surfer Kids' focus has actually constantly been on teaching the kids the worth of dedication to long-lasting objectives. As that's the method for a private to empower themselves: devote to something and persevere, no matter what. Surfing is enjoyable however naturally hard to discover and, like Bitcoin, teaches determination.
However, running The Surfer Kids for more than a years, it's constantly seemed like a drop in the pail. There are countless individuals living under terrible situations because town, which's simply among countless areas-- in this nation alone. And we just serve 40 kids. Introducing Bitcoin as a tool for individual and monetary empowerment could, like it performed in El Zonte, produce a causal sequence in our neighborhood. And I've currently seen that take place in various fascinating and amazing methods. Those who dismiss the concept that Bitcoin alters an individual's state of mind and mindset are either not focusing, have actually not experienced the impact firsthand in their own lives and/or have actually never ever seen it occur in another person's life. Second, as discussed previously, this is another evidence of principle. There are extremely couple of locations worldwide where individuals live under more desperate scenarios than towns such as this one. Joblessness is astronomically high. Illiteracy is swarming. A lot of houses remain in reality casual structures constructed from scrap product and the bulk have neither running water inside their house, nor toilets or warm water. If Bitcoin can work here and be naturally embraced in a setting such as this, there's no reason it could not be embraced anywhere else. I 'd comprehend if an upper middle class individual informed me they 'd choose not to utilize it, for no specific factor aside from choice. Do not inform me it's due to the fact that it's too intricate or unpredictable. If it's being embraced (willingly and without any reward besides the energy it needs to use) in the scenarios that we've explained here, then why not anywhere else? And all over else? The reality of the matter is, those are all simply reasons. Individuals will embrace it when they require it. When they have no other option left, bitcoin will no longer be "too complicated," "too unpredictable" or "just helpful for lawbreakers and drug dealerships." And that's actually been the most gorgeous feature of this experience. Individuals whom we've seen embracing bitcoin, in the municipality, have actually refrained from doing so for ideological or philosophical factors. They do not care about our Twitter disputes. We've seen bitcoin being embraced merely because, unlike the rest of society for whom the present system still works fairly great, for numerous in this municipality neighborhood Bitcoin is, in numerous aspects, just the very best readily available alternative. An individual course to higher flexibility and indiv idual obligation is being found out, one South African at a time. And when (not if) the existing status quo stops working or when there's a significant sovereign default or reserve currency crisis, those doubters who do not yet see its energy will start to comprehend. It is just at that point where they will start to highly think about embracing bitcoin. Essentially, we're assisting to get the lifeboat prepared prior to the ship decreases. Due to the fact that by the time it does decrease, the lifeboat should be cruising. This is a visitor post by Hermann Vivier. Viewpoints revealed are completely their own and do not always show those of BTC Inc. or Bitcoin Magazine Read More

If you were mad about the white water rafting then you should know Dublin City Council are partnering with Hubbub and the Coca Cola Foundation to sponsor an installation to raise awareness of new recycling infrastructure to recycle bottles and cans in Dublin.
This partnership is grossly inappropriate as Coca Cola is one of the most environmentally destructive companies in history. Some of their actions include:
Selling nearly 3,500 environmentally-damaging single-use bottles every second, that’s over 100 billion a year, producing a total of 3 million tonnes of packaging per year.
Being named the worst company for plastic pollution for the second year running by Break Free From Plastic
The company strongly opposes attempts to introduce mechanisms such as container deposit legislation. In 2013, the company was criticised in Australia for undertaking litigation that led to the invalidation of a bottle recycling deposit. Greenpeace also claims that Coca-Cola has actively lobbied against recycling and deposit return schemes in several European countries, while at the same time maintaining a green marketing facade with vague promises and false-solutions such as sizeable donations to schemes that put the emphasis of anti-littering on the consumer, instead of the producer of the litter itself.
Using up all of the already limited of water resources in poor communities to feed its own plants, drying up farmers' wells and destroying local agriculture. They have been particularly destructive in poor communities in India and El Salvador Mexico.
In 2003 the independent Centre for Science and Environment tested Coca-Cola beverages and found levels of pesticides around 30 times higher than European Union standards. Levels of DDT, which is banned in agriculture in India, were nine times higher than the EU limit.
Coca Cola is associated with anti-union activities. In Colombia, paramilitaries have killed eight Coca-Cola workers since 1990. The main Coca-Cola trade union Sinaltrainal is seeking to hold Coca-Cola liable for using paramilitaries to engage in anti-union violence.
Coca-Cola is being sued on behalf of transport workers and their families for its part in the alleged intimidation and torture of trade unionists and their families by special branch police in Turkey.
In Nicaragua, workers of the main Coca-Cola union SUTEC have been denied the right to organise and the General Secretary of SUTEC, Daniel Reyes, believes the objective of this ongoing and escalating campaign is to crush the union.
Guatemalan workers have been struggling against Coca-Cola since the 1970s. In the years between 1976 and 1985, three general secretaries of the main union were assassinated and members of their families, friends and legal advisers were threatened, arrested, kidnapped, shot, tortured and forced into exile. The violations of workers' rights continue and Coca-Cola workers and their family members, with ties to unions, have reportedly been subjected to death threats.
In countries such as Peru, Russia and Chile, Coca-Cola workers have been protesting against the company's anti-union policies.
By partnering with Coca Cola in this campaign, Dublin City Council are complicit in the greenwashing of the coca cola brand, legitimising coca cola as an organisation which cares about environmental issues when this is nothing but a front to conceal the true depths of their destruction. The coca cola foundation according to its own website only commits to give back 1 percent of the company’s annual income anyways. They claim what that the key areas that they fund are:
Empowering women: economic empowerment and entrepreneurship
Protecting the environment: access to clean water, water conservation and recycling
Enhancing communities: Education, youth development and other community and civic initiatives
It is clear that these goals are entirely insincere and nothing but a marketing ploy to make themselves look better given how they directly contribute to these issues with their exploitative practices. It is disgusting that Dublin City Council would want anything to do with them, much less partner with them on an environmental campaign.

Crypto.com Hacked – BTC CRASH & MORE!!
Welcome to the coin bureau weekly crypto review here: are this week’s top headlines in the crypto news nfts, please, the ufc launches an nft marketplace, bud light to tease its nft during the super bowl and twitter introduces nft profile pictures. What’S next for this crypto niche el salvador in the spotlight, president najib buchelli changes his profile pic while buying the dip and meets with the turkish president to discuss important matters. Is turkey about to do a 180 on btc bullish signs for bitcoin fidelity releases, a crypto report, bitcoin’s hash rate hits another all-time high: intel teases a next generation bitcoin mining machine and american banks inch towards crypto trading. When could we see a crypto market reversal, big crypto bucks, crypto projects raise hundreds of millions while vcs and crypto companies put down billions. Where is all this money going money gone from crypto.
Tumblr media
om? One of the biggest companies in the industry gets hit with a hack and confirms that 400 users were affected. Everything you need to know. Crypto ad bans, the united kingdom, spain and singapore move to make crypto ads illegal, despite increasing adoption. Why are they doing this washington woes and warnings, fiat currency versus cbdc politicians versus proof of work and people versus politicians?
A short summary of everything that happened and how it could affect crypto and a closer look at what comes next in this week’s crypto market forecast, all this and more in just a moment good morning afternoon or evening. Thank you for tuning in my name is guy, and what you’re about to see is ducational content, not financial advice? You can find any topics you’re looking for using the time stamps in the video timeline and now for today’s top stories.
The ufc finally launched its highly anticipated nft marketplace called ufc strike, something that had been announced almost two years ago, ufc strike nfts will be issued on the flow blockchain, the same one used for the nba’s top shot nft marketplace. If you watched my recent video about the top nft issuers, you’ll know that the flow blockchain was built by dapper labs, the company behind cryptokitties, in addition to the ufc and the nba, the flow blockchain will soon support the nfl’s own upcoming nft marketplace dubbed all day.
An exact launch date for the nfl’s all-day nft marketplace has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be released before the end of the current nfl season now, given that each nfl season ends with the super bowl, it’s reasonable to assume that this is when The nfl’s nft marketplace will be released, it looks like bud light will be revealing its own nft during the super bowl, as per an agreement made between the beer company and the nouns foundation, who gifted bud light, one of their famous nfts in exchange for exposure during.
The event bud light is also expected to sell limited edition beers, which will only be available to noun holders, though it’s not currently clear whether this exclusive beverage will be sold at the super bowl. What is clear, though, is that bud light has already begun delivering on its promises by changing its profile picture on twitter to noun number 179. Oddly enough bud, lite has apparently not taken advantage of twitter’s recently introduced nft profile picture feature which is currently limited to twitter. Blue users on ios this might have something to do with the fact that twitter’s nft profile pictures connect to a person’s crypto wallet to prove ownership, something which simultaneously reveals that person’s crypto holdings in said wallet. It might also have to do with the fact that twitter’s new feature doesn’t filter for verified nft collections, meaning anyone can copy and paste and mint a fake board ape and have it as their twitter profile picture.
Another prolific personality who changed their profile picture over the weekend, was salvadoran president najeeb bukheli, who added a hat and name tag with the mcdonald’s logo to his existing photo. Now this is a reference to the popular meme which pokes fun at the idea that crypto investors will have to resort to working a minimum wage job when the crypto market crashes. This context makes najib’s profile picture change a bit concerning, given that he’s the leader of a country and because najib bought the dip shortly before changing his profile. Pick el salvador’s latest purchase of btc brings the country’s total to 1801 btc and marks the lowest entry price. Since it made btc legal tender last september, the salvadoran government’s chivo bitcoin wallet also recently surpassed four million users, accounting for about two-thirds of the country’s total population.
El salvador’s bitcoin adoption has left many wondering which country will be next to adopt btc as legal tender, and there are many contenders if you watched last week’s crypto review you’ll know that the island nation of tonga seems to be next in line, given the economic similarities. It has with el salvador, namely a largely unbanked population, that’s heavily reliant on remittances. One of the last countries that comes to mind in this respect is turkey, which made crypto payments illegal last year and appears to be on the cusp of a full-scale crypto crackdown. This is because the value of the turkish lira has been crumbling due to poor central bank monetary policy, and millions of turks have been turning to cryptocurrencies to protect their purchasing power. It should come as no surprise, then that president buchelli’s announcement that he would be meeting with turkish president, tayyip erdogan took many by surprise.
Although many media outlets report that no crypto related discussions took place, many find it hard to believe that it didn’t come up. Given the peculiar circumstances, both countries find themselves in, even if bitcoin was discussed, though it’s unlikely that it will become legal tender in turkey, given the country’s size and economic profile. Unfortunately, it seems that nobody noticed another bullish headline around that time, which is that bulgaria is exploring crypto payments now, if you’re wondering which countries could be next to adopt btc as legal tender, be sure to check out my video about that. Using the link in the description once you’re done watching this video anyways, if you needed any more confirmation that crypto is more than a meme look no further than the recent crypto report put out by fidelity. The second largest asset manager in the world, fidelity’s report can be summarized in a single sentence quote.
There is very high stakes, game theory at play here, whereby, if bitcoin adoption increases the countries that secure some bitcoin today will be better off competitively than their peers. Well, it’s evident that bitcoin adoption is increasing, so, according to fidelity, this means countries should buy btc and as the demand for btc increases, so too does the incentive to mine bitcoin, which is why the hash rate of its network continues to hit all-time highs, regardless of The price, as some of you will know, bitcoin’s hashrate, tends to be correlated with the price of btc and though there have been some divergences in that regard as of late, it may only be a matter of time before the two come back in line. In the meantime, tech companies around the world continue to develop crypto tech such as intel, which is expected to announce a next generation bitcoin mining machine. In february the so-called bonanza mine reduces the energy required to mine one btc by 15, something which could have a profound effect on the energy use of the crypto mining industry. If it’s widely adopted.
What’S more, is that intel filed the patent for its next generation? Crypto mining machine way back in 2018, which just goes to show what a long-term vision it has when it comes to crypto. Now this is all pretty damn bullish, but it pales in comparison to an even more bullish announcement that was apparently missed by the crypto media. This is that around 300 u.s banks will be introducing crypto trading to their clients in the coming weeks, something that is the product of a partnership between them and nydig, which was penned last june.
Now accessibility is arguably the most important factor when it comes to the crypto market, and this upcoming integration will make crypto as accessible as possible to millions of us investors. This means that it could be the catalyst for a crypto market reversal and it’s not the only upcoming crypto milestone either more about the others in the description anyhow, it’s not just banks that are betting big on crypto these days, there’s been no shortage of active investment From vcs and companies from inside and outside of the industry, and this investment has only continued to accelerate regardless of current market conditions. For starters, there’s crypto.com, which announced that it would be increasing its existing 200 million d5 nft and crypto gaming fund to 500 million and then there’s animoka brands, which announced a 360 million dollar, raise last tuesday, bringing the nft and crypto gaming companies valuation to over 5 Billion this is 40 million less than privacy, preserving secret networks, 400 million ecosystem fund, which was announced last wednesday and consists of money pooled by various crypto vcs andreas and horowitz one such crypto vc firm also revealed on thursday that it’s building a 4.5 billion crypto fund, Which will focus on web 3?
And then, on friday crypto indexing protocol, the graph announced a 50 million raise funded by various fintech vcs. This brings the grand total to over 6 billion and that’s just counting the headlines that caught my eye. I know there are many hundreds of millions that i missed or didn’t even make the news now make no mistake. These massive raises confirm that crypto is not a phase most. If not, all of these big investors are in it for the long haul and they’re placing some seriously big bets on crypto projects if you’re curious about which cryptocurrencies have raised the most money post, ico i’ll leave a video about that.
In the description, though, i will note that many of those projects have raised millions more since that video went out hard to keep up with a runaway train, but back to crypto.com. On the same day, the company announced it would be increasing its crypto funding. It also announced on twitter that some users were reporting quote suspicious activity and that crypto.com had paused withdrawals from its app out of caution.
For those who don’t know, the crypto.com app is custodial, meaning any crypto you have on. There is being held in one big wallet that is not owned by you. By contrast, the crypto.com wallet is non-custodial, meaning any crypto you have on.
There is owned by you, the custodial nature of the crypto Com app makes it not much different from a cryptocurrency exchange. This makes it a very lucrative target for hackers, hence why crypto.com purchased a 750 million dollar insurance policy last september. Hopefully, this insurance policy came in handy because it looks like a hacker was able to bypass two-factor authentication for around 500 crypto.com users and withdraw their btc and eth.
The total amount stolen is estimated to be around 33 million dollars worth crypto.com’s response to the incident came almost four days later and it included the announcement of the company’s account protection program which will reimburse up to 250 000 of any crypto stolen from a user by An unauthorized third party, the program, will go into effect on february the first now, while this is certainly reassuring, it seems that many crypto.com users are still having issues regaining access to their accounts and not just the ones who are affected by the hack. Many have also pointed out that crypto Com has spared next to no expense when it comes to marketing, which begs the question of why the security of its platform is subpar. In any case, this isn’t is only one on a long list of crypto hacks that can be easily avoided by using a non-custodial wallet and, if you’re wondering which ones are about that, i have a video for you in the description.
Speaking of marketing, it looks like the global war on crypto ads has officially begun. The first shot was fired by the united kingdom a few months ago and though it started as a bam on mean coin ads. It’S close to evolving to a blanket ban on crypto ads of all kinds. According to coindesk, the financial conduct authority or fca will limit crypto ads to so-called sophisticated investors, aka high net worth individuals in the country starting later this year. This slippery slope is why similar headlines in spain and singapore give me the chills to be fair.
All spanish regulators want for now is for crypto influencers to disclose whether they’ve been paid to promote the crypto projects. They’Re talking about and give unbiased analyses of coins and tokens now, not only is this a reasonable regulation, but it’s also one that the coin bureau abides by, including our spanish language channel. We are not paid to promote crypto projects and we do our best to give unbiased analyses of coins and tokens. As for all spanish influencers, who are shamelessly shilling, a hefty fine is in their future. Meanwhile, singapore seems to be a few steps ahead of the uk.
This is because it has not only banned crypto ads, but crypto atms as well. Regulators claim that the mere presence of crypto atms is a form of advertising, something which caught many atm operators off guard. This aggressive stance suggests there’s more to singapore’s crypto ad crackdown than consumer protection, and you could argue that it has its origins in singapore’s own central bank, digital currency. Singapore is currently developing its cbdc, and other countries in the region have explicitly stated that they are using cbdc’s to combat cryptocurrency. This is why the federal reserve’s recent digital dollar white paper could foreshadow some very bad news for the crypto market in the united states.
I’Ll be covering the digital dollar white paper later this week. So all i’ll say here is that the federal reserve itself seems to be torn on whether or not to issue a cbdc. This is simply because cbdc’s give way too much power to the people in power and even if the intentions of the people in power today are good and just there’s no guarantee that this will be the case when the next person comes around. Even so, u.s politicians continue to push for a digital dollar and it may also be the primary driver behind the concerns they claim to have around bitcoin mining.
This was discussed at length in a hearing last week, which i’ll also be doing a video on. So all i’ll say here is that there are very few us politicians who are legitimately concerned about bitcoin mining. In fact, many of them have bought the idea that bitcoin mining can be used to subsidize renewable energy, something that i talked about in another video that you can find in the description. Moreover, by this point in time, bashing bitcoin would make a politician very unpopular with the people and that’s something that they seem to be hyper aware of as well. Another thing that the people don’t like is all the insider trading going on in the white house, which is why a bipartisan bill looking to block politicians from doing just that might actually pass.
Funnily enough, the politician who is in favor of banning other politicians from trading stocks is expected to retire at the end of the year. If you want to know more about just how bad insider trading is in the halls of power check out the video in the description, turning to the charts, we can of course see that it’s been an abnormally bloody week for the crypto market. Btc is barely holding on at 35k and it’s honestly looking pretty bad on the daily chart. The weekly chart tells a different story, however, as you can see, we’ve wicked out of the lower end of the bollinger bands in the past and the rsi is extremely oversold. What this means is that the weekend might have been the perfect, buy the dip opportunity and we could start to see a reversal in the coming weeks.
This ultimately depends on what happens this week and that is almost anyone’s guess. The thing i’ll personally be paying attention to is the federal reserve’s meeting and press conference which are scheduled for tuesday and wednesday. Let’S hope papa powell says something that will make the markets pump and you can find out what he’s been saying lately using the link in the description. This week’s winners are well. There are no winners this week unless you count stable coins, which seem to be up a whopping, 0.
percent, that’s more than the interest you earn at a bank these days. In all seriousness, there are two things i want to point out when it comes to last week’s crypto market activity. The first is how well decentralized stable coins like ust, held up under pressure, ust, barely budged off its peg, and its market cap actually rose by a few hundred million in response to all the demand. This translated to a weekend pump for luna what’s interesting, is that the cryptocurrencies that felt the brunt of last week’s crash were ethereum competitors such as near protocol, phantom avalanche and harmony. Now the answer to this mystery seems to lie in bitcoin’s dominance which rose substantially while ethereum dominance and altcoin dominance fell.
Basically, people who were still in the green on altcoins rotated what remained of their gains into btc. But it looks like this trend was short-lived, as we’ve already seen signs of a rebound among alts and a corresponding decline in dominance. I will never forget what one of my favorite crypto youtubers said, and that’s that the crypto market will be extremely volatile as we approach the top. If you’ve invested too much or worse borrowed to invest, you will quote puke your position, as perhaps some of you have already done. If that’s the case, don’t sweat it we’re still early, and i think it’s too soon to say that the bull market is over more about that in a video later this week, and that’s all for today’s coin bureau weekly crypto review, if you enjoyed it folks, you Know what to do hit that, like button subscribe button and bell icon too, if you want more of me head on over to twitter, tiktok and instagram to get a sneak peek behind the scenes.

6 Mind Blowing Facts About Coke
Tumblr media
Has A Can of Coca Cola Been Opened in Space?
Find out the answer to this and other interesting stuff about the world’s most popular soft drink right here.
History was created in May 1886 when Dr John Smith Pemberton, a pharmacist, added a specially formulated syrup to carbonated water to prepare the first ever glass of Coca Cola. Today, Coca Cola is the most popular soft drink in the world. But did you know that there are so many interesting facts about Coca Cola that you probably didn’t know. So, here are some interesting bits of trivia about Coca Cola that you can use to impress your friends.
Ever wondered Why It’s Called Coca Cola
After the English term “OK”, the term “Coca Cola” is the most widely understood term across the globe. The name was derived from the two main ingredients used in the original drink formulated by Dr. Pemberton : the coca leaf and the kola nut. Today, the coca leaf has been replaced by caffeine, but the iconic name still remains.
Coca Cola was originally marketed as a Brain Stimulant
In the early days, Dr. Pemberton marketed his original formulation for Coca Cola as a non-alcoholic health tonic, that supposedly had mental benefits for users. In early advertisements, Pemberton described Coca Cola as an important brain tonic - thanks to the properties of the Kola nuts - that would help cure all nervous afflictions, and was extremely safe to drink, since it was non-alcoholic. Today, it may not provide all the benefits that it once supposedly promoted, but it still remains the most popular soft drink in the world.
The First Soft Drink in Space
In the mid 1980s, the Coca Cola company came up with an ambitious plan to offer NASA astronauts the chance to drink their favourite fizzy drink while they were on a space shuttle orbiting the Earth. Nothing like this had never been tried before, and the scientists knew that traditional soda cans just wouldn’t work in space. The Coca Cola Company spent a lot of money and time to develop special “Coca Cola Space Cans” with a modified sipper and opening mechanism that would keep the drink fizzy inside the can, even in the micro-gravity of space. Next, Coca Cola approached NASA to test the Space Cans aboard one of their space shuttles. When Pepsi found out what their competitors were planning, they quickly designed their own fizzy drink dispenser, and asked NASA to take their cans aboard the space shuttle as well. Finally in July 1985, astronauts on NASA's Challenger space shuttle carried specially designed Space Cans from Coca Cola as well as Pepsi into space which the astronauts then got to taste. Since it was originally Coca Cola’s idea, the astronauts first tested and tasted the Coca Cola Space Can, giving it the distinction of being the first fizzy drink ever to be consumed in outer space. Who Designed the Iconic Coke Bottle?
The iconic Coca Cola Bottle, also known as the Contour Bottle, is one of the most distinctive shapes in the world, and can be distinguished from other beverage bottles, purely by touch, even in the dark. In 1915, Coca Cola launched a competition, asking designers to design a unique bottle for them, and the Contour Bottle was created by bottle designer Earl Dean, who worked with the Root Glass Company, Indiana. Originally, the design was supposed to be based on either the cocoa leaf or the kola nut, the two main ingredients in the original drink. But, since nobody knew what those ingredients looked like, Dean took inspiration from the cocoa pod - which is different from the cocoa leaf and was never used as an ingredient in Coca Cola - and designed the unique bottle that we all know today.
How Much Water Is Needed to Make Coca Cola?
According to some estimates, Coca Cola factories consume almost 300 billion litres of water per year. This huge amount of water is used as mainly as ingredient in its different beverages, as well as canning, bottling, sterilisation and transportation of Coca Cola products across the world. On an average, it takes approximately anywhere between 1.5 litres to 3 litres of water to make 1 litre of Coca Cola. The Coca Cola Company sources its water from water extraction plants located all over the world, including Russia, India, Colombia and El Salvador.
The connection between Coca Cola and Santa Claus
Prior to the 1930s, everybody’s favourite Santa Claus was pictured in several different coloured suits, including blue, green and sometimes even red. However, according to legend (and the Coca Cola website), in 1931, Coca Cola commissioned artist Haddon Sundblum to create a new range of advertisements for the fizzy drink. Sundblum was inspired by the 1822 poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Clark Moore, and depicted Santa Claus as a chubby, laughing grandfather type, with rosy cheeks, a white beard and a red coat, the image which we all associate with Santa Claus today. Over the years, this image of Santa Claus has become accepted over the world so much, that we can never image Santa Claus as anything else.
