Sammy Hagar says fans can expect more touring in his future, and the Van Halen-heavy setlists will get even heavier.

During an appearance on the YouTube show That Rocks!yesterday (7/12/23), Hagar said he plans on going out on tour next year and continue to pack his setlist with Van Halen songs.

"I do plan on going out and touring..I plan on doing even more [Van Halen songs than the last tour]," said Hagar, who regularly included 10 to 12 Van Halen songs each night on his last tour with his band The Circle. "If you're asking me what the future is of my setlist, l'm gonna lean really heavy on the Van Halen stuff because, number one, don't know how much longer can sing that stuff. That shit is up there [vocally]. If I'm gonna go out next year, I would do a lot of Van Halen."

As with the last Circle tour, Hagar said Michael Anthony will continue to take lead vocals on David Lee Roth-era classics like "Ain't Talkin 'Bout Love", "Unchained", and "Runnin' with the Devil".

"I think that's really cool too," said Hagar. "If I'm standin' up there, why would Mikey sing one of my songs? No. We do it anyway. We trade off, but, as far as singin' a whole song, fuck yeah. Mike, he was part of that band. He was right there. It ain't just about his high parts. When we do those songs, when I sing with him, he sings the lead part, and then when the harmony comes in where he sings the higher part, I sing the lead part, and he sings the harmony part so it sounds like him with that high voice."

I know you talk about him a lot but what is your big opinion on Jamieson Price?

Ok so I have to apologize: I got sick yesterday with… SOMETHING, I don’t know what but it had hit me last Wednesday too. I was pretty passed out for the rest of the day so I’m finally getting to a few messages D:

Jamieson Price (or Taylor Henry as he goes by in FEH) has to be one of my favorite actors of all time (that isn’t a 4kids actor). Like… I don’t mean this in a creepy way but to say I love that guy’s voice is an understatement; I get super excited the moment I recognize it in any media. His voice was MADE for voice acting. I think the first time I really discovered who he was happened when I saw the Pokémon Origins series; I saw his name for Giovanni and thought his take was… interesting. Then I finally watched a playthrough of Nier: Gestalt (sadly never got to play it) and enjoyed his performance as Papa Nier, then played Fire Emblem Awakening and married Priam and it all kind of spiraled from there. In FEH, he plays Hawkeye, Virion, Priam, Nemesis, Rudolf, and Zephiel (both young and old). Definitely a pretty big cast of characters.

Man, his performance as all of these characters though! I’ll try to break them all down as best as I can because while I don’t use some of these characters (Hawkeye, Virion, and Zephiel) I do like his work on them and I like some of the characters regardless. Starting with Virion, because that’s his most unique role in FEH yet, he’s perfectly flashy and extravagant with Virion’s voice, having that interesting accent (which honestly I can’t pin down what it is, it could be completely made up though lol). It’s nice that he got some more Virion lines in Eleanora’s unit. As Hawkeye, his voice is quiet and serene, and pretty mesmerizing to listen to, especially his line “You want my attention? Friend, you have it”. Of course that changes when you hear Hawkeye’s critical quotes and the dude goes berserk. Adult Zephiel though, HOLY SHIT that performance almost scares me. He sounds absolutely paranoid and unhinged (as Zephiel is supposed to), his critical lines are practically SCREAMING sometimes. And that makes his Young Zephiel lines that much sadder, he was so polite and enthusiastic ;w; Nemesis is fantastic, he’s bloodthirsty and violent, and the voice filter really adds the unsettling quality to his voice. Rudolf is pretty standard, but the best part about his Valentine’s Rudolf lines is the one where he goes “IT’S A HOLIDAY, RELAX!!” The juxtaposition of Rudolf’s steely character and that line kills me. Finally, his Priam voice is hearty and cordial, he has the tone of Priam’s devotion to strength down perfectly. Just wish that FEH included his “For the Blue Flame” line.

Ok, so interestingly, I think he fits pretty much everyone… except for Young Zephiel. It’s not on him, FEH just keeps most of the same actors for younger versions of characters. But despite the great job he does at trying to change his tone for Zephiel, his voice is still just too naturally deep for how kind of baby-faced younger Zephiel looks.

I know people might argue with me on this one and I SWEAR it’s not (completely) biased, but YES Price does have range; it’s just hard to hear it because he tends to get typecasted for his regular voice. But Virion and young Zephiel do prove he has the range: hell, I didn’t even know he played Virion for a while. Like I said, I think he’s more casted for his iconic regular voice (the one for Priam, Nemesis, and Rudolf). But he has a pretty decent range; maybe not as crazy as Ben Diskin or Cam Clarke, but it’s there.

Overall, and to try not to be biased, I’ll give him a 9/10. But just know that in my personal opinion, he’s a 10/10. And his characters need WAY more alts. Like we need a Hawkeye/Igrene duo alt (like Halloween Hector where we have little Igrene), a proper Virion alt, and DEFINITELY a Harmonic Ike/Priam Hero alt (IS, EVEN IF HE’S THE CHEERLEADER UNIT. YOU PUT HIM IN AND I’LL PAY FOR HIM. I DON’T CARE IF THE IKE/SOREN SHIPPERS PUT UP A STINK, I’D LIKE MORE PRIAM CONTENT FOR HIS CHARACTER).

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo-- starring Neymar as Evelyn Hugo and Leo Messi as Celia St. James. Luka Modric and Sergio Ramos as Harry Cameron and John Braverman respectively. Ik Ney/Luka is hardly a ship, but the characters fit well. Ernie Diaz can be Ganso, and Ronaldinho can be Don Adler. Richarlison as Mick Riva. Zlatan can be Rex North, and Gerard Pique can be the mistress, Joy, because of that one Zlatan x Gerard photo that made waves in the media. Kylian Mbappe is Max Girard, because of the Paris connection. Kun Aguero or Luis Suarez can be Robert Jamieson. Ivan Rakitic can be Luka/Harry's lover, James Grant, and Monique can be one of the younger players like Gavi or Pedri or Camavinga

Meeting the Quidditch Players - The Wolf's Tail

With the inaugural International School's Quidditch Cup taking place in the Marauder's Fifth year of The Wolf's Tail , 63 foreign teen Quidditch players and their coaches have descended on Hogwarts and, although every player won't be named in the fic (that's a lot to fit in) each player for every team has been created in my notes. Some of their names are a mixture of canon names and/ or names with mythological/ historical/ cultural or flight related links ... and as there won't be room to go into them in the fic, I thought I would post some of the extra details here. First up, the English speaking schools:

Hogwarts

Gwenog Jones (beater) - the youngest player on the team is the canonical captain of the Holyhead Harpies in Harry's time. A great heroine of Ginny's, Hermione meets her at the slug club and is unimpressed.

Sidhe Moran (chaser) - A member of the 1994 World Cup Irish winning team. Sidhe (roughly pronounced like "five" but starting with an s) is an Irish name which comes from the name for the fairy people who live under the hills.

Ilvermorny

Memengwaa Campbell (seeker) - A First Nations Canadian witch (with a Scottish great great great grandfather), she is from the Ojibwe tribe and her name means "butterfly".

Bertram Aubrey (chaser) - A character canonically famous for having an illegal hex performed on him by one James Potter. Bertram ended up in the Hospital Wing with his head twice the regular size, James ended up in detention.

Diego Di Marco (chaser) - A Mexican wizard and a love interest for Lily, he is named after Don Juan for his last name and has been given a Spanish version of Casanova's first name as his given name. Cassanova's name was Giancomo, which is Italian for ... James

Beau Rogers and Jesse Bonney (beaters) - take their name from assorted famous cowboys/ outlaws notably Will Rogers, Jesse James and William Bonney (Billy the Kid)

Mister Wright (coach) - Named after the Wright brothers.

Yeperenye School of Sorcery

Harold Holt-Bishop (keeper) - The vanishing keeper, named after two Australians who famously vanished. Harold Holt was the 17th Australian Prime Minister who disappeared in 1967 and was never found, and Harold Bishop - a character in long running Aussie soap "Neighbours" - who was lost at sea in 1991 but who was found safe and well (if suffering from amnesia) in 1996. Harold left Ramsey Street for the final time (perhaps) in late 2023.

Ned Barrett (beater) - Takes his name from famous Australian outlaw, Ned Kelly

Basil Burrunjor (chaser) - A Burrunjor is a mythological giant lizard. The first European witch in Australia - and founder of Yeperenye - Joanna Jamieson, fashioned herself a new wand from wattlewood and the heartstring of a burrunjor upon her release from prison (she had been transported for the crime of fraud, after she vanished her neighbour's cow and the authorities refused to recognise she was a witch).

Alinta Gunidjaa (seeker) - Alinta is an Aboriginal Australian and thus has come to Yeperenye via the "Aboriginal Controversy" following the muggle policy of separating native children from their parents. Aboriginal Australians did not traditionally have last names and so were assigned them by the white authorities. Wizarding assigned last names are based off native Australian flora and fauna. A Gunidjaa is a black faced cuckoo shrike, but cruelly is also an Aboriginal word for "motherless child" or "orphan" - the irony being Alinta is not an orphan, she has been stolen from her parents.

Madam Larrikin (coach) - like Alinta she is named after a native bird and so is probably an Aboriginal Australian who came to Yeperenye after ending up in a muggle home. Larrikin can also be used as a pejorative name "you cheeky Larrikin" - which along with Alinta's name - suggests there is a certain amount of racism involved in the bestowing of last names on Aboriginal wizards.
