“ how kind of you to visit, cousin. ” oh, how an empire falls. it is not silent, it does not go quietly, nay, it is full of sound and fury as it croaks out its last words. at least, that is what berkut would prefer to believe --- that he was not laid low with any amount of ease. for he had been a one - man army, and rinea had paid the price for such hubris. nor does he meekly abide now, head held high even if he should be sentenced to this life among the clerical folk of novis priory. if nothing, they’re mercifully gentle.

“ i would’ve arranged a proper feast had i been notified of your imminent arrival, but i’m afraid we’ve nothing more fancy than biscuits and weak ale. ” he would quite literally kill for even a taste of wine and pan - seared foie gras. but, no, the only luxury he’d been afforded was to keep his feline, volkan, whose loud purring as she brushes against alm’s leg sours berkut’s mood further. “ i hope it is of no issue to you. ” he doesn’t care.

Walhart had heard tell of the supposed incarnation of Mila appearing before mankind again. In his mind, it made sense. He challenged the way and rule of the gods, and, so, an incarnation of them manifested to challenge him. That was assuming that the rumors proved true, of course. For now, they were little more than groundless stories, meant to scare lesser men.

Mankind’s future liberator would not be easily cowed. And, so, he approached the Mila Tree -- where it was said the newly-arrived incarnation was -- and did not waver when he spotted her at the summit of the tree’s roots. Surrounded by his entourage of loyal soldiers, Walhart rode to meet her, clad in the full crimson regalia of Valm. History would write of this scene, depicting Walhart akin to a demon, who brazenly strode towards the wingless angel of the former Valentia.

“State your purpose,” he spat, remaining seated upon his horse. “Why is it that you resemble the Saint-Queen so, and that you speak as though you were she, in the flesh?”

“What hope could your ruse accomplish? Do you think me so easily cowed, or, worse, fooled?”

ALM & CLIVE

i’ve got lots of appreciation for these two’s interactions in every single iteration they go through uuuwoooasuughghhgrh

my main appreciation for these two stems from how alm’s naivete and frankness are highlighted to push clive to grow. though clive is a passionate person who’s idealist for sure as shown in the dlc memory prism, when he rose to assist mathilda with the deliverance, he had to harden his heart to make tough choices for the sake of his country and his beloved’s goals. in a way, he lost sight of himself as he tried to become the leader that was required of him, morale at an all-time low as he loses his lover, his best friend, and failure after failure gets tossed his way.

it’s alm who pushes him to try being selfish again — to follow his heart and trust in it, that he need not compromise to win. had alm not been there, clive likely would ( and as shown in the manga for gaiden ) have accepted not being able to rescue mathilda even though he would have wanted to because it’d put the deliverance at a disadvantage, but alm’s naivete and freshness doesn’t hold back alm. without alm’s recklessness, confidence, and large heart, clive would’ve wallowed in his regret for the rest of his life.

alm is a good influence on clive, and i am just weak to an older guy learning from a younger person. i like the challenging tension during that portion, and i think post mathilda’s rescue, clive would be a lot more open and easygoing with alm, able to strike up something between a mentorship and friendship with the fighter as he helps teach him about running a military and other things.

ALM & CELICA

this could go either way since we both play alm and celica, so i’ll be a bit vague about this as a result haha. while you mention in your ask either gaiden or sov, i’ll try not to ramble too much about gaiden either since idk how much you know about it, but feel free to hmu about it in regards to either of my portrayals for these two!

in a more general sense, i do really adore these two as they are in canon: celica befriending alm in their youth as alm helps her out of her shell, and then the two being emotionally close even after being physically separated. they may have a huge difference in methodologies and both be stubborn leading to their argument on zofia’s palace’s rooftop, but they think of each other’s best interests despite that and they truly do complete each other. it’s their differences at the end of the day that make them stronger together; they can both learn from one another and account for the other’s weaknesses.

i really like them romantically and i know you put in your bios you do too, though i totally understand not wanting to ship with someone you don’t know very well, so i’m more than okay with writing these two platonically as well! truth be told, when i first played gaiden, i had seen these two platonically despite how much i would grow to love them romantically, so i have no troubles at all going that angle, but regardless of which way we go, i’d definitely still like to highlight their strong bond even if they might not see eye-to-eye all the time, haha.

To be sidelined was truly the height of embarrassment, but Nikolette von Brandt, peerless lady in grace, swordsmanship, magic, and all manner of other things, wasn’t one to be easily embarrassed. As far as she was concerned, she was simply being saved for more important battles, should these little skirmishes even come to that. Indeed, there was a considerable chance that these little would-be revolutionaries would be crushed beneath Rigel’s heel before ever making it across the border. Or, perhaps, many of Rigel’s commanders and generals feared being shown up.

No, she wouldn’t dwell upon her purely-advisory position longer than necessary. She’d already forgotten the name of the general she was assisting, but their mission was clear enough - stop the rebels from advancing to the sluice gate. Simple enough, and yet Nikolette was merely to wait for a signal, upon which receiving she would use her magic to light a great fire across the battlefield, cutting off the retreat. An easy task, if a painfully dull one. Waiting wasn’t her strong suit.

As such, she’d prepared for the worst. Her horse, Lamy waited not far away, while Nikolette herself sat at a small table she’d had brought along, sipping tea from a nice vantage point, to watch the battle. For Rigel, it would be best if their forces were to score a decisive victory. For her own ambitions, it would be best for things to drag just a bit longer, to give her an opportunity to take the battlefield herself. If she were to have any chance of reversing her fortunes, she’d need no shortage of acclaim and credit. Only then would her fiancé and her father realize the error of their ways and restore her to her rightful position.

But enough about them. The battle was beginning, and her tea was getting cold.

whether it’s the way you bare your teeth when backed in a corner , your loyalty , or your tendency to act on instinct , your reoccurring theme is the dog . like mitski said “ i get mean when im nervous , like a bad dog ” or how halsey said “ i won’t smile but i’ll show you my teeth ” even when migos said “ dance with my dogs in the night time ” the essence of the dog runs through you . you’re tough & a quick draw on the outside , but if we got down to it we’d see you’re acting the only way you’ve ever known how . it doesn’t make you bad , survival is natural , your loyalty & determination is commendable . i don’t blame you for the way you act when your back is against a wall , but please remember to not bite the hand that feeds.

bonus ! what happened when the test was taken the first time : ( while i do believe that this is very fitting for felix , especially since this was the first result , there are some things the ‘ dog ‘ motif fits him better . that being said ! felix does have the following as a motif & is perhaps a better motif than the dog at times . )

Although the Black Knight’s face was obscured by his helmet, one could deny the change of tone in his voice. There was a hint of bemusement in it. If one could see his face now, they would see a lip curling into a knowing smirk. Normally, the knight was unfailingly stoic, but his blood broiled at the thought of a good bout. He was happy to see the boy who’d sworn him his nemesis.

“An odd fate, is it not? To be summoned here and forced to work as allies-in-arms. Yet, we can still have our duel.”
