Homestuck Teen Beach Movie AU
I got thinking on Teen Beach Movie, and realized it's a movie that should be turned into a situational AU for many, many series (The whole scenario, I should mention. Not just the movie in a movie that's a parody of an interpretation of Romeo and Juliet). So... Homestuck..? :) (Sorta Humanstuck as well? The movie stars trolls, even if the canon character is a human, and vice versa for the "real world")
Long Explanation under cut
Jake English and Nepeta Leijon-Vantas both adore exploring around the beach, occasionally with her older brother, Karkat. However, Jake's getting old enough he needs to start getting ready for university, and has been given acceptance to a really good school in another country as a top choice, much to Nepeta's dismay.
But, for one last adventure, they end up getting caught in a freak storm with a massive wave dragging them both under alongside Karkat, who came to help quell any fighting. They end up in Jake's silly movie, (which I haven't a name for, so we're gonna use the name in the original movie) Wet Side Story, with Jake being a fan of both groups (which are based off the dream moon split from both pre-scratch universes(Earth A and Beforus), including the beta kids(Johsan Fyblow(John) is Canus, Ruzena Gliade(Rose) is Virpia, Bedwyr Minsel(Dave) is Gemries, and Diopsi Lapine(Jade) is Pigo)), while Nepeta just wants to go home and Karkat busy critiquing the story of the movie. As in the original film, the longer they're there, the film begins to... assimilate? them into the world, slowly turning them into trolls(all having their signs from Homestuck proper, with Karkat and Nepeta's "birthdays" moved forward a month so they're actually a Cancer(6/12 -> 7/12) and a Leo(7/4 -> 8/4)).
To add to the problems of "going home", Jake and Nepeta accidentally ruin the big scene at the end of Act 1, where the bookish Aranea finally gains the confidence to sing, only to almost fall of the stage, being caught by Cronus, except Nepeta ends up dancing with the violetblood, leaving Jake to catch Ms. Serket. Thus, leading to things falling apart in Film Land.
Thus, (since I'm cutting out the original film's villains; I have a different idea for "villains" in this AU) the story becomes a comedy as Jake and Nepeta need to get Cronus and Aranea back together before the reel runs out, stranding them and Karakt as trolls forever.

RELATING WATER MANAGEMENT REGIMES AND RICE GENOTYPES WITH OCCURRENCE OF INSECT PESTS AND DISEASES OF RICE IN UGANDA |  Journal of Global Agriculture and Ecology
The goal of the study was to see how water management regimes and/or rice genotypes affected the occurrence of rice pests and illnesses in Uganda. During the second rainy season of 2012 and the first rainy season of 2013, the investigation was done in phased field trials under natural settings. The trials were set up in a split plot with three replications using a Randomised Complete Block Design. The major plots were alternate wetting and drying (AWD), continuous flooding (CF), and continuous drying (CD), whereas the sub-plots were rice genotypes. The stalked-eyed fly (Diopsis spp.) and African rice gall midge (Orseolia oryzivora) were the most common insect pests found in CF fields, according to the findings. During the research, illnesses such as rice blast, brown spot, grain rot, rice yellow mottle virus (RYMV), and sheath rot were discovered in rice. Rice blast and brown spot were the most common illnesses (>10 percent occurrence), with brown spot being more common under AWD and RYMV being more frequent under CF. Rice genotype determined the level of occurrence of rice blast and RYMV in the different water management regimes. In general, various genotypes displayed varied incidence profiles for insect pests and illnesses. As a result of these findings, determining the optimum water management regime for efficient integrated pest management requires information of the most limiting pest/disease.
