I’m Luke Hughes' twin sister, unlike Quinn and Luke I decided to commit to Boston College for hockey.

I heard a lot of good things about it from Matt Boldy and Jessie Compher since i played on team usa with her, when i told my mom about it we went to visit. I fell in love with the campus immediately.

I haven’t been away from luke before, so this is definitely going to be different without him here, and i don’t know anyone.

Hopefully I'll be able to make friends with my teammates. I already know Cayla Barnes who I played with on team usa, she had introduced me to Alex Newhook last year when I first told her I committed to Boston College so i knew her also.

I only just got to town. It's 2 weeks before classes start, I want to be able to explore and get to know the campus so I don't get lost on the first day.

Cayla and Alex aren’t here yet. I’ll be staying in a unisex door for the athletes. Today is freshman day so most of the freshmen are arriving. I don’t have a roommate, I wanted to be alone since I know I'll be on FaceTime with my brothers and with quinn there’s a time change so I didn't want to risk waking up my roommate.

I was unloading one of my boxes when I heard my mom talking to someone in the hallway. I paused what I was doing and went to check. I saw her talking to Kim, Cutter Gauthier's mom. I totally forgot he also committed here. Cutter and I do not get along, he was a jerk when I first met him, and every other time after. He’s friends with my brother, they played together in the NTDP, so our families are friends.

“Hey yn, it’s good to see you sweetheart” Kim said, hugging me.

“It’s good seeing you too Kim” i said smiling

“Looks like yours and cutter dorm rooms are next to each other” she said, my mom smiled

“Maybe this will get them to be friends instead of hating each other” my mom told Kim

“I hope,” Kim sighed. I took the box my mom was holding and put it down on my bed.

“You’re dad is bringing the last box up” my mom told me and I nodded.

Few seconds later I see my dad, cutter, and his dad coming up the stairs.

My dad gave me the box and I put it down.

It was now time to say goodbye. I hugged my mom tight.

“I’m going to miss you sweetheart” she said, kissing my cheek.

“I’m going to miss you too mom”

I went and hugged my dad next.

“We love you, will be back soon enough to visit, don’t get in trouble” he said making me chuckle.

“I love you guys too, give a hug to Luke for me, i miss him already” i said sadly.

“We will,” my mom replied.

Once they left, I closed my door and began unpacking my stuff.

A few hours later I started to get hungry, it's around 5 p.m. right now so I thought I would go get myself some food, so I grabbed my purse and walked out of my room.

Cutter walked out at the same time as me before locking his door.

We both started walking downstairs.

“Did your parents already leave?” I asked

“Yeah, pretty sure they left after yours did” he replied, i nodded.

“Look I hate you, and you hate me, but can we try to be civil? It’s going to be a long year if we don't "I ask nicely. Hoping we can try to get along.

He shrugged

“We’ll see,” he said walking away.

“Asshole” i mumbled

A week passed by, a few of my teammates were finally in town, same for the guys team.

Tonight is Friday and the guys on the men's team are throwing a party, so Cayla is making me go with her and Alex so I can get to know more people.

We pregamed and got dressed, at around 11 p.m. we made our way there. I’m already drunk by the time I get there, thankfully I know Cayla and Alex wouldn’t leave me alone.

I’m having the best time.

We danced, i got to meet some of my other teammates, that i probably won’t remember tomorrow.

I’m now standing with Cayla and Alex, I was currently leaning on Cayla.

“You good Yn” she asked

“Yeah, just a little bit too drunk” I mumbled, I heard her chuckle.

“Want us to bring you back to the dorm?” She asked

I was about to answer when Cutter cut me off.

“I can bring her, my dorm room is right next to hers” he told Cayla, she looked surprised

“I thought you two didn’t get along?” Alex asked

“We don’t but I'm on my way now so I can bring her with me,” he said.

“You good with that Yn” she asked to make sure and i nodded.

Even though we don’t get along, I know he’d make sure I get there safely because of my brother.

“Come on,” Cutter said, putting his arm on my back as we walked out of the party.

“You shouldn’t have gotten so drunk,” he said, annoyed, probably because I was stumbling a little bit.

“It was my first college party. I was obviously going to get drunk "I snapped, he rolled his eyes and he helped me walk.

When we got to the dorms he made me go up the stairs first so he could catch me in case I tripped.

Once we got to our rooms I unlocked my door before looking over at Cutter doing the same to his.

“Cutter, thank you” I say, he looked at me and nodded before he closed his door.

He’s honestly really good looking, I wish we could get along.

I woke up the next morning with a headache. I probably shouldn’t have drank so much last night, so I groaned and took my phone that was on my nightstand.

I decided to order breakfast from uber eats since i didn’t feel like going out.

A few minutes later there was a knock on my door, I groaned and went to open it only to find Cutter.

“What do you want?” I asked

He chuckled when he saw me, I rolled my eyes.

“Just thought I’d check to see if you were still alive,” he said, smirking.

“I am, now you can go” i said

“Jeez, I'm just trying to be nice, you’re the one who said we should try and be civil with each other” he said angrily and went to walk away but i grabbed his hand before he could. He looked down at me holding his hand, making me let go.

“Sorry, i just have a headache”

“It’s fine”

“Thanks again for last night, I mean I know we don’t really get along but it means a lot” I said

“Your brother probably would have killed me if I didn’t” he said and I nodded sadly, of course that’s the only reason he helped me get home.

Right as I was about to say something else my food arrived.

“Thank you” I thanked the delivery guy. I looked up at Cutter once the guy left.

“I ordered a lot, do you want to stay and eat? Take it as a thank you?” I asked

He looked surprised for a minute before he nodded.

“Sure why not, I'm hungry anyways” he said and walked by me in my room. He went and sat against the wall on my bed.

m. I took out the food and handed him some.

It stayed quiet as we started to eat.

“What made you choose Boston? Both Quinn and Luke went to Michigan” he asked me after a while.

“I wanted something different, plus I knew if I went to Michigan Luke would be a little too overprotective and I didn’t want to have to deal with that” I said, he chuckled.

“That makes since”

“What about you? What made you choose Boston college?” I asked.

“When I visited, I fell in love with the campus. It was also one of the highest ranked schools,” he said. I nodded.

“ I really hope we can get along, while we’re here” I say softly. Cutter looked up at me and nodded.

“It’s probably for the best, Luke would kill me if he knew I was a jerk to you, even though he knows we're not friends,” he said, making me chuckle.

“So can we be friends instead of us hating each other?” I ask.

“I’m okay with that,” he said, smiling.

“Good,” I said, smiling at him.

At least we can agree on something, this is only the beginning.

April 13, 2024

Kensington felt her heart drop even further once the buzzer finally rung, meaning that Boston College had officially lost the national championship to Denver University.

She felt her stomach just drop and felt like she suddenly couldn’t stand on her own two feet. She shakily kneeled down on the ice letting out an extremely shaky breath and could feel the tears in her eyes.

Kensington had officially played her last game for Boston College and her last game with all of her best friends and no one even knew but her and her family. She hopped that a day or two after the game if they won that she could tell everyone and it wouldn’t be so bad because they would be on a high after the win but now she knew now, it would be devastating.

Cutter stumbled a few steps over to Kensington and kneeled down in front of her, He looked at her with a nauseating look on his face and felt his jaw trembling making him clench his jaw, he leaned his forehead on her shoulder taking a deep breath.

Kensington leaned her head on top of his helmet letting a few tears drip down her face as she also knew Cutter was leaving.

“You’re leaving aren’t you.” Cutter whispered having a suspicion for awhile, he’s known her for years now and with how much she was sneaking off to talk to her agent and how guilty she looked when the topic of next season came up, he knew.

Kensington’s shuttering breath was the answer to his question.

Kensington slowly stood up and put a hand down for Cutter, he stood up for her and she turned about seeing Gabe, Will and Ryan walking over to them.

Kensington felt her eyes tearing up even more as she saw her three boys and she quickly pulled them into a hug making the three all wrapped their arms around her.

Ryan hid his face against his best friend’s head and sniffled desperately, Gabe leaned his head onto Ryan’s looking extremely out of it. Will just hid his face in his girlfriend’s neck grabbing onto her hand and holding it like it’s his lifeline.

Kensington didn’t know how she was going to break their hearts even more when she tells them she is leaving.

Kensington, Ryan, Gabe and Will all reluctantly let go of each other and stumbled slowly off the ice and down the tunnel, into the locker room.

Kensington slowly sat down onto her stall, feeling robotic as she slowly started taking off her equipment. Her brain was so fogged that all the words from the coaches and Eamon just didn’t even register, she kept her eyes downcast on the floor of the locker room.

Kensington was the last to get up and start stumbling to the showers, she didn’t know how long she stood under the burning hot water but long enough to not see anyone left in the locker room when she finally came out.

She looked at her stall once more and gently traced her fingers over her name and looked to the left seeing Will’s and Ryan’s name and to the right Gabe’s name, the last time she would ever play with all three of her best friends.

Jack walked down the hallway having seen the whole team come out already and meeting with their family and he saw Will’s sad shake of his head when Jack looked at him.

Jack knew how devastating and heartbreaking a lost like this is, he was close to Kensington’s age when he had a terrible lost at the WJC, getting second place is the last place you want.

Jack walked into the locker room gently leaning against the door being mindful of his sling, he watched as his sister gently traced her name above her stall, “I had a feeling you would still be here.” Jack spoke watching as his little sister didn’t even flinch at his presence.

“Yeah why’s that.” Kensington monotonously spoke not looking at her brother because she knew she would crack and start sobbing and she was afraid she would never be able to stop.

“Because you’ve always liked to be alone when you’re upset.” Jack fondly commented and walked into the room sitting down gingerly on the stall next to hers, he patted her stall gently and gave her a look.

Kensington let out a breath and sat down to Jack, “I wanted to win.” Kensington played with her rings.

“I know.” Jack simply hummed and gently wrapped his good arm around her shoulder.

“I-.” Kensington voice cracked with emotion making her sniffle and wipe her eye, “I just wanted to end in a happy note.” Kensington didn’t want her last game and memories with the team to be so sad, she loved everything about Boston College and it’s been one of the best year of her life and she hates that it as ending so heartbreaking.

Jack just pulled her to his chest and gently rubbed her back and that just made her bust out into sobs, her who’s body was just shaking with her sobs and her face was soaking wet with salty tears that were getting Jack’s jacket wet.

“Ssh, It’s okay Sunny, let it all out.” Jack softly cooed feeling his heartbreaking even more for his baby sister as he gently rubbed her back and kiss the top of her head.

“I’m never gonna play with any of them again.” Kensington chocked out between her sobs, the first time she’s spoke about her leaving out loud.

Kensington just sobbed even harder and could feel her breathing catching as she sobbed so hard, “I just wanted to win.” Kensington whispered and held onto her big brother tighter.

Jack felt tears come to his eyes seeing how upset his baby sister is and a part of him right there hated that hockey had done this to her, to Luke, to Quinn, to Him.

Jack pressed more soft kisses to the top of her head and could feel her tears starting to soak through his shirt now.

Kensington’s sobs slowly started to calm down and she just leaned her forhead still on Jack’s chest trying to catch her breath.

“I’m sorry, i know how much this sucks.” Jack softly comforted her, he knew nothing he would say would really make her feel much better so he just had to be there for her.

Kensington nodded and reluctantly leaned up and lifted her head off Jack and winced apologetically seeing the wet spot on Jack’s jacket.

Jack just smiled shaking off her concerns and pulled his jacket down onto his hand and gently wiped off her tears and gave her a soft kiss to her forehead.

He sent her one more comforting smile before looked at the door seeing Will walk in.

Kensington looked up and saw her just as heartbroken boyfriend and she got up and met him halfway in a tight hug.

Jack smiled softly at the two, he knew there will never be anyone better than Will for his sister and if they can get through the distance then they would be together forever. He quietly left the locker room.

Will held onto his girlfriend tightly and slowly shifted them to the floor and Kensington shuffled closer sitting on his lap, on the floor in the middle of the locker room as they hugged each other tightly.

She knew she had to do this eventually, “I’m leaving this season Will.” Kensington pulled back and avoided eye contact with her long time best friend and boyfriend.

Will swallowed harshly, he knew she was going to leave before him because he knew her team wanted her this season but she declined as she wanted to attend Boston College, so he isn’t surprised but it still hurts just as bad.

Will just let out a shaky breath and cupped her face turning her back to him and pressed their foreheads together closing his eyes.

“I know baby. I know.” Will mumbled softly sniffling as he felt tears running down his face again. Kensington just let out a watery breath and closed her eyes.

September 19, 2021

Gabe Perreault had met Will Smith and Ryan Leonard during summer camp for the US National Team Program and the three of them immediately clicked with each other and they all became best friends very fast.

Gabe, Will, and Ryan were all sitting together on the bleachers outside the rink as the U-18 team were practicing and they got out of school earlier to today so they came straight to the rink and are waiting before their practice starts after the U-18 team.

Gabe was watching the practice but his eyes kept flickering back to number 8, something about that player was drawing Gabe in and his eyes couldn’t stay off the player.

Gabe watched the the player skate effortlessly down the ice and quickly passed sharply to number 19, who had the puck now and easily spun around the defenseman and passed it right back to number 8 and making number 8 slap shot it right into the back of the net.

Gabe kept his eyes trained on number 8 watching as he skated to the bench with the rest of the team and taking his helmet off off and running a hand through his sweaty hair, Gabe felt his breath catch as he looked at him.

“What do you think Gabe-o?” Ryan questioned his best friend, Ryan and Will were talking about something and looking over Ryan’s phone.

Ryan furrowed his eyebrows when he didn’t answer and looked up seeing a new look on Gabe’s face, it was like he was day dreaming and kinda like heart eyes, “Who are you looking at?” Ryan clapped a hand onto Gabe’s shoulder making him spin around quickly.

“No one.” Gabe quickly denied feeling his cheeks heat up as he knew the boys would chirp him for thinking the player is really cute and he doesn’t even know the players name.

Gabe quickly shook his head and avoided the look coming from Ryan’s looked over Ryan’s phone and answered Ryan’s question.

A few minutes later Gabe heard a voice call out and looked up and froze.

“Ry.” Asher called as Cutter, Rutger and Asher walked out of the locker room and towards the bleachers.

“Ashy.” Ryan looked up and nodded at his brother, Asher nodded back to his little brother.

“Do you need a ride?” Asher questioned his younger brother, not seeing the awestruck look coming from Gabe towards him but Cutter and Rutger did and they shared a look.

“No, Smity’s mom is coming and she’s gonna take us home.” Ryan told his older brother and then his eyes lite up in realization, “You haven’t met Gabe-o yet, Gabe this is my older brother Asher.” Ryan proudly introduced not seeing how Gabe’s eyes widen in shock.

Gabe knew that Ryan has an older brother but he didn’t realize he was hot. Like really hot.

“Hey.” Asher gave the boy a nod looking extremely disinterested.

“Hi.” Gabe stumbled over his words feeling his cheeks burning hearing Will snicker softly and Ryan turned around giving Gabe a suspicious look before shaking it off and looking back at his brother.

“Alright i’ll see you later then.” Asher nodded and ruffled his younger brothers hair as he walked by, he stopped by Will and gently ruffled his hair too, “Hi Sunny.” Asher mumbled to the boy who’s reluctant became another member of his family.

“Hi Ash.” Will beamed happily at Asher more than willing to let him ruffle his hair. Will has thought of Asher as an older brother since he met him.

“What was that.” Ryan demanded the second his older brother and his friends were gone, he glared suspiciously at his best friend and line mate.

Will smirked looking amused as he had figured out why Gabe was acting the way he was.

“Yo-You didn’t say your brother is hot.” Gabe stuttered as he whispered shouted at Ryan, Will couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the two.

“Ew!” Ryan looked absolutely disgusted, he quickly realized who Gabe was staring at during the practice, “Dude gross.” Ryan wrinkled his nose looking extremely grossed out.

“He is!” Gabe sheepishly protested, he held his hands up in surrender. Gabe knew his cheeks were definitely bright red. Will just snickered and shook his head.

“I don’t want to know that!” Ryan quickly shot back still looking disgusted and a grimace stuck on his face, “Ew that’s just gross, don’t tell me you think my brother’s hot.” Ryan gaged shaking his head dramatically.

“You saw it too?” Rutger chuckled as they walked away and through the arena out to the parking lot, He looked to Cutter in question.

“Oh i saw it.” Cuttee nodded in reply, he was smirking looking very amused.

“Saw what?” Asher questioned his two best friends as they all got into his car, and he turned his car and started to pull out the parking lot.

“Ry’s friend got a crush on you.” Cutter let out a small breathy chuckle. He was finding this whole thing amusing and had a feeling it was going to be for a while.

“The curly haired one, Gabe.” Rutger piped up from the backseat leaning forward in between the two front seats.

“Ok.” Asher nonchalantly answered taping his fingers on the steering wheel as he drove them.

“Do you think he is cute?” Rutger turned his head looking at Asher intently wanting to know, he has been trying for years to set Asher up with anyone.

“He’s young.” Asher ignored Rutger’s question. Asher was not going to start thinking about his little brother’s friend, he was not going down that rabbit hole today.

“Only a year younger, that’s nothing.” Rutger scoffed incredulously looking towards his best friend and line mate, “Now answer the question Lenny.”

“No.” Asher answered not looking at the two. He ran his tongue over his bottom lip.

Rutger and Cutter shared a look being able to tell their best friend was lying but decided to drop the topic, for now.

January 7, 2025

Will let out a long breath as the call didn’t go through to Kensington once again, they have barley talked the last few months and when they do actually talk both of them are so busy there’s barely any time to talk and Kensington has been off lately seemingly distance.

Will hated how he didn’t know what was wrong with his girlfriend and he hated how he wasn’t sure what to do to make everything better.

Will has been itching to just get on a flight and show up at her door and finally see her in person but he was to afraid with the chance if they see each other and Kensington breaks up with him.

He didn’t even think she loved him anymore and was to nice to break up with him.

January 10, 2025

Will walked to his apartment door and saw the mailman, “Will Smith?” The guy asked and Will nodded and the guy handed him two box’s.

Will smiled at the guy and shut the door brining the boxes to the kitchen and grabbed a knife and started opening the rectangle box first.

Will saw was marigolds, Kensington’s favorite flower, he gently took out the very large bouquet of flowers and smiled softly.

Will gently set them onto the counter and opened the other box and saw it was pretty stuffed, he first pulled out a pile of clothing items, he first saw another Kensington jersey in the color he doesn’t have yet, and a pair of sweatpants and sweatshirt that smelled like her perfume, he set them onto the counter.

He pulled out the next little bag and saw the bag was filled with all of his favorite candies.

Will pulled out the next thing and it was a frame of Kensington and him during the summer both of them smiling brightly at the camera and Kensington all wrapped up in his arms, Will gently traced his beautiful girls face before gently setting it onto the counter.

Will smiled softly seeing a new jelly cat and it was a blue bunny and he noticed the white ribbon tied on the ears as little bows and he knew Kensington did that.

He picked up the card at the bottom.

Will felt his stomach drop as he realized what this was all for their one year anniversary. that was today.

“Shit.” Will cursed running a hand in his hair he can’t believe he forgot and his girlfriend who he thought didn’t love him anymore did not forget. Will knew he was wrong and he was an idiot for thinking that Kensington didn’t love him any longer.

good and bad

March 28, 2025

Kensington grabbed one of the many pre bagged ice bags in her freezer and used one crutch to get over to her couch, she gently set down and put a pillow under her knee and set the ice pack on top and leaned her head back on the couch letting out a long sigh.

It’s been hell for her the last few months and her knee wasn’t getting any better but not any worse, truthfully it was her choice to continue to keep playing and she has being having an amazing season even it she’s in pain every day.

 Kensington knew she wasn’t playing her best but she was playing good enough no one really noticed, she just didn’t go to any of the practices that were mandatory and did a lot of weight room for her upper body and a lot of physical therapy sessions.

She can’t say her whole year has been bad because it hasn’t been all bad, she’s gotten really close with the team and their families especially as the team knew about her injuries and they were all helping her a lot.

Kensington switched most nights between Sideny’s, Kris and Geno’s houses as their wifes/girlfriend wanted to make dinner for her, Kensington didn’t mind at all.

Kris and Geno both have kids who all adore Kensington and it really lifts her spirits spending time with them and Sidney and Kathy treat her like their kid and Kathy just adores Kensington.

Braden also joined her most nights for those dinners, the two are both in their rookie years and have become closer, they share a room and sit together on the airplane.

Kensington let out a sigh as she looked at her phone, she knew she hasn’t been the best person the last few months. Barely responding to anyone and keeping most responses very short. She has denied a lot of times for her parents coming to see her because she knew she would have to tell them about her injury and it would make it real.

She did get to see her brothers slightly after they played against each other and she had dinner both games and they were short dinners so it wasn’t hard to avoid saying anything about her injury.

Kensington hasn’t seen any one of her boys since she played at boston in the beginning of November. She couldn’t see them during their christmas break as they were heading to the WJC, and she didn’t play any other games at Boston. Kensington hasn’t gotten to see her boyfriend and best friends in months.

Kensington knew once the season was over she was going to have to go through a lot of conversations and tell everyone what’s been going on.

November 22, 2024

Kensington was skating down the ice during practice while they were working on drills and when she turned she felt something was extremely wrong as her knee gave out and she fell to the ice letting out a shuttering breath.

Kensington squeezed her eyes hoping that it isn’t bad. She did not want to think about being injured her rookie year.

Braden skated over quickly to his line mate and friend and kneeled down in front of her and gave her his hand to squeeze as she was in a lot of pain and he could tell it was pretty bad as her jaw was clenched hard.

The medic team hurried over as they saw her take a fall and not get back up and started looking at her knee, Sidney quickly skated over in concern and kneeled down on the other side of her.

Kensington was lucky it was one of practices that was a private one, meaning no one but the team will know about her fall.

Kensington got up on one foot and wrapped her arms around Braden and Sidney’s shoulder as they helped her skate off the ice and helped her walked down the tunnel and into the medical room.

Kensington was helped on to the medical bed and the doctors immediately started taking her equipment off so they could see her knee, the two doctors shared a look when it was already pretty swollen and did a quiz x-ray to check if there is any breaks.

Braden had to go back to practice but Sidney stayed holding her hand the whole time, the x-ray didn’t show any signs of any breaks or fractures.

Kensington let our nervous breath as she had to go into the MRI, she has one a few before when she was younger but she always had her parents or brothers with her and she still hated them.

“Hey baby penguin.” Sidney crouched next to her bed so he was eye level to her as he gently brushed back her hair from her face, “it’s going to be okay, alright i’ll be right outside the whole time okay.” Sidney respected her wishes of not wanting to contact her family and Sidney understood. He hated her sad eyes that were looking at her.

Kensington nodded and watched as Sidney walked out and was standing by the window, she closed her eyes as the machine moved her into the MRI and she took a deep breath.

Kensington listened to Sidney talk to her for the whole hour she was stuck in there and it distracted her more than she even realized, and before she knew she was coming out of the machine.

Kensington put on a pair of comfortable clothes and Sidney handed her the crutches the doctor wanted her to use until they knew what was wrong not wanting to make her knee worse.

Kensington wasn’t going to play the game tomorrow and the team would be saying that she was sick.

Kensington slowly used her crutches walking out to Sidney’s car, Sidney opened the door and held her crutches as she lifted her self up and in to the car, Sidney handed her the crutches and shut the passenger door before walking around the car and getting in to the drivers seat.

Sidney drove her back to her house as she got a pain medication and shouldn’t drive with it in her system, Sidney had asked if she wanted to come stay at his house but she wanted to just go to her apartment and cry in her own bed.

Sidney helped her out of the car and then grabbed all of her stuff for her as she crutched her way through the apartment building and up to her apartment, Sidney dropped her stuff on the counter and helped her bring a few things in her room so she wouldn’t have to get back up.

Kensington sat down on her bed and Sidney helped her put a pillow under her knee and grabbed her bag of ice putting it on her knee.

“You’ll be alright?” Sidney checked once more and Kensington just nodded, Sidney pressed a kiss to her head and headed out making sure his notifications were on incase she needed him.

Kensington phone started blowing up with texts and facetimes and she figured the statement that she was “sick” came out and her friends and family were worried but she didn’t have any energy to answer.

Kensington hit decline on the FaceTime from Will and threw her phone somewhere in her room, couldn’t find it in herself to care when she heard the shatter.

She was frustrated, emotional exhausted and in a lot of pain she didn’t have any patience to talk to anyone at the moment.

Kensington ended up being out for two weeks missing quite a few games, to everyone including her family and friends she just had a really bad flu and was really sick.

In reality she tore a ligament in her knee, not bad enough that she needed surgery yet and they were doing intense physical therapy for the last two weeks and they gave her cortisone shots hopping that would help some of the pain and get her to play faster.

Her knee was still bad but better that she could ignore the pain pretty well to keep playing, it also meant that she needed to tape it for everything and had a lot of ice baths and used many heat packs and ice packs, a lot of medicine and using crutches a lot at home to give it some relief, she was also wearing a brace off the ice to give it more support.

She was so focused on her knee she barely responded to anything from her family and friends and doesn’t remember the last time she answered a FaceTime from her brothers, best friends or Will.

Kensington did not even realize how much she was distancing her self from everyone she loves, and how alone she felt because of it.

Asher was walking after his family out of the hotel as he had to finish something up so he told them to go to the Arena and he would meet them there.

Asher shut off his phone and he paused seeing the Perrault’s family hotel room door cracked open, he furrowed his brows because Ryan said they had left already.

Asher knocked on the door and didn’t get an answer so he slowly walked in and saw the back of head and saw the curls, he knew it was Gabe.

“Perrault.” Asher called out leaning on the door snapping Gabe out of whatever trance he was in as he was staring at the mirror with his tie all messed up and his jacket not on anymore. Which was weird becasue Asher had seen Gave an hour ago fully dressed.

“Asher.” Gabe breathed out and took a few deep breaths.

“What’s wrong with your tie.” Asher nodded to the tie that was hanging losely around Gabe’s neck.

“I needed to get it off.” Gabe simply spoke trying not to run a hand through his curls because his mother would kill him, “And now i can’t get it back on.” Gabe was overwhelmed and just snuck away for a few minutes but had to rip the tie off because he could barely breath.

Asher kicked off the wall he was leaning on and walked over, he reached his hands up for the tie and looked at Gabe for permission and Gabe quickly nodded hoping he didn’t look to nervous with Asher being so close to him.

“For someone who ties a tie almost every week your not very good it at.” Asher quipped softly and Gabe let out chuckle and a fond eye roll.

“I’m stressed!” Gave protested watching Asher intently as he tied the tie for him. Gabe has never been this close and is seeing all the little details on Asher’s face for the first time, like the little freckle by his nose and the few tiny white lines scattered across his face that Gabe knows are scars.

“Relax you’re a decent hockey player you are going to fine.” Asher deadpanned and finished tying the tie.

“Thank you.” Gave let out a long breath and his shoulders relaxed slightly and he grabbed his suit jacket and slipped it on and buttoned up the buttons.

Asher just simply nodded and started walking out with Gabe right on his heels.

Gabe thought Asher looked hot in his suit as always, a black button up shirt and black suit, simple but always looked good on Asher.

Asher and Gabe both walked in silence as they got to the bottom of the arena and saw both of their families waiting there and not at the arena yet either.

“There he is!” July let out a relieved sigh as she finally found her son. She pulled Gabe into a quick hug before they all headed out of the hotel.

Ryan gave Asher and Gabe a suspicious look but shook it off.

Gabe quickly took the stairs up to the floor that Asher’s dorm is on, he walked down the hallway and knocked on the door of Asher’s dorm.

Asher was wrapping a towel around him as he walked out of the shower and was still dripping wet when he heard a knock at the door and walked across the room and to the door and opened it.

Gabe inhaled sharply seeing Asher and seeing him completely as he only had a small towel around his waist and the water was still running down him. Gabe obviously shared a locker room with him but he couldn’t stare at Asher in there.

Asher leaned on the doorway and cleared his throat rasing an eyebrow at his brother’s best friend’s staring, “What do you want Perrault?”

Gabe shut his jaw and blinked shaking his head, “I need your help?” Gabe looked up at him with pleading eyes. Asher raised an eyebrow for him to continue.

“You said i need to be able to finish what i start so i need you to teach me how to fight.” Gabe told him seriously.

Asher looked at Gabe and let out a laugh before realizing Gabe was not joking, “You’re serious?” Asher looked at Gabe knowing Gabe wouldn’t harm any one.

“i don’t like fighting but you are right i should be able to whole my own and finish if i start something.” Gabe knew Asher does have a point and Gabe cannot rely on his team to get him out of fights every time.

“And you want me to teach you?” Asher raised a skeptical brow out of everyone Gabe chose he chose him.

Gabe stuttered slightly as he knew he could of asked mostly anyone of the team as they would know how to fight but he wanted Asher to teach him, so they have can spend more time together, “Yes….” Gabe awkwardly smiled.

Asher just shortly hummed and Gabe continued to look at him with pleading eyes until Asher threw his head back with a frustrated groan.

“Ok.” Asher mumbled out feeling he’s going to regret this.

“Really!” Gabe all but shouted and sheepishly smiled and lowered how voice, “Really!” He smiled hopefully.

“Don’t make me regret this Perreault.” Asher glared warning Gabe.

“I promise. Thank you!” Gabe beamed happily.

“Alright.” Asher nodded, “Now shoo i need to get dressed.” Asher grumbled and Gabe just smiled.

“Bye Asher!” Gabe called out as he turned around and walked down the hallway.

Asher grunted back and shut the door behind him.

Gabe walked by Cutter, “Hi Cutter! Bye Cutter.” Gabe was all smiles as he walked down the hallway.

Cutter paused as Gabe walked by him and Cutter realized Gabe was coming from Asher and his dorm.

“Hi?” Cutter mumbled confused but shook his head continued the walk down the hallway to his dorm.

Ryan walked through the vacation house having just said his byes to the rest of the family as they were heading out on the boat but he wanted time stay back and get a few minutes alone to talk to his brother.

They were staying in Cape Cod for the week with all of the extended family coming in for the yearly trip.

Ryan walked down the hallway and knocked on the door that is Asher’s, “Ashy?” Ryan called out from the other side of the door.

“Come in Ry.” Asher called out from where he was laying in bed reading a book, he shut his book setting to next to him and looked up as Ryan walked in and closed the door behind him.

Ryan nervously picked at his fingers a habit he has had for all of his life and a habit Asher knows means he’s anxious or nervous.

Asher patted the spot next to him on the bed and Ryan quickly walked over and laid on his side facing his brother.

Asher gently ran his fingers through his favorite siblings hair, “What is it?” Asher questioned softer than he would for anyone else besides Ryan.

“I’mwannagotoBC.” Ryan all but mumbled out.

Asher nodded slowly, “You wanna go to BC?” Asher doubled checked that’s what his brother mumbled out.

Ryan nodded.

“Not Umass?” Asher questioned having figured Ryan would want to go where their other brother goes and where their Dad use to coach.

“No.” Ryan shook his head, he didn’t want to ever go to Umass but didn’t know where he wanted to but when Asher committed to Boston College, Ryan looked more into and knew that’s where he wanted to go.

“Alright,” Asher just simply nodded making Ryan relax not knowing why he was so nervous to tell Asher when Asher always supports him, “Have you told Mom and Dad yet?” Asher questioned.

Ryan answered with a sheepish smile and Asher fondly rolled his eyes, “Okay i’ll help you.”

“Thank you!” Ryan cheered happily and scooted closed resting his head on Asher’s shoulder.

“Yeah yeah.” Asher mumbled patting the top of his brother’s head.

Kensington let out a breath and leaned against her front door having just shut the door after saying goodbye to her parents, for the first time she was fully alone, no parents, no brother and none of her three best friends. She was alone.

Kensington looked around her new apartment and hated how cold and lonely it felt despite her decorating it with her mom.

She hated how it reminded her of the feeling she had when she said her goodbyes to her team, Ryan and Gabe, and Will.

Kensington gave him a soft smile cupping Will’s face and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead and pressed their foreheads together.

“I’m going to miss you.” Will chocked out tears already running down his face for the first time in years they wouldn’t be living near each other or playing on the same team.

Will was very afraid of the fact they would be apart and had no idea how they would handle the distance, he was scared he was going to lose her along the way.

“I love you.” Kensington promised sending him a soft smile knowing if she starts crying they will never let go of each other.

“I’ll see you a few weeks.” Kensington reminded him as she was playing in a few weeks at Boston and the boys were already planning coming and luckily she was staying the night in Boston so they would have a night together.

“I’ll see you soon.” Will whispered back and Kensington gently pressed her lips to his before pulling back and sending him one more smile before she turned around and walked out of the room and out of his house. Will frowned as he watched her leave.

Kensington got up off her front door letting out a long sight, she walked to her bedroom not bothering to eat dinner not having any appetite. She flopped onto her bed staring up at the ceiling hoping this lonely empty feeling would go away.

It was the second game of the hockey season and Boston College has won their first game and now were leading the second game 3-2 in the third period.

Boston College was on the power play and Gabe was skating down the ice when the other team’s player slammed him against the board making him lose the puck.

Gabe and the player started chirping each other and getting into each other’s faces.

Asher looked over and shook his head skating over, he watched as the player went to go try and hit Gabe, Asher quickly grabbed the back of the players and pulled him away from Gabe and making him fall to the floor.

The player quickly got up and glared angrily at Asher and went to lunge at him but the referee grabbed him and started dragging him away.

Asher turned around and glared at Gabe, “If you gonna start something at least be able to finish it.” Asher grumbled unhappily not liking how mouthy Gabe gets on the ice but cannot fight to save his life.

Asher did not wait for a response and turned around skating away.

Gabe just smiled happily not caring that Asher scolded him because he got Asher’s attention and an idea popped into his head to be able to spend more time with Asher.

Asher was out on the beach since the sun was down laying on a blanket, they were staying at a beach house for vacation and the back yard of the house was on the beach so Asher loved it because he could go out every night and see the stars.

Ryan walked out of the house with a blanket wrapped his shoulders and another blanket in his arms. He walked down the beach to his brother who was laying down on a blanket and staring up at the sky.

Ryan was the only one Asher has ever let join him to watch the stars as Asher doesn’t like when others join him as it’s not as relaxing for him.

Ryan flopped down next to his brother and threw the blanket over Asher and laid down next to him.

Ryan rested his head on Asher’s shoulder and Asher started mumbling about the stars he could see that night.

Ryan slowly began falling asleep to the comforting sound of his brother’s mumbles.

“And that one.” Asher trailed off seeing his baby brother fast asleep on him. Asher smiled softly and pressed a kiss on Ryan’s head.

Asher gently got up and leaned down picking Ryan up and Ryan didn’t stir at all just rested his head back onto Asher’s chest.

Asher picked up the other blanket and carried his brother back up to the house and walked through the house seeing his family all in the living room, he walked up the stairs carrying Ryan still and opened the door to Ryan’s room and gently set him down.

Asher covered Ryan with the blanket and slightly brushed his hand through Ryan’s hair.

“Night bud.” Asher mumbled and shut the door gently.
