#been watching videos of a guy diy some things into smart devices via custom circuit board and wiring different relays #not only that he makes them wifi and even cloud accessible via connecting a different motherboards #shit is legit so cool #he made an automated power outlet that can turn itself off or on the grid via his phone or wifi #literally then he made door sensors using some magnets and some casings with his 3d printer to house them #which would be used as an indicator of when the door is closed or open #also by using raspberry pi he was also able to make it work via cloud remotely and through WiFi #the coding process was straight forward since the main board was compatible with the software he uses so he just copied paste the code #it was so simple it got me thinking my dumb ass can actually do this lol #i long to be computer engineer and make my own custom built technology 🤣

No reason except felony contempt of business model, the threat that the toolsmiths who built that counter-app would go broke or land in prison, for violating DMCA 1201, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, trademark, copyright, patent, contract, trade secrecy, nondisclosure and noncompete or, in other words, “IP law”. IP isn’t just short for intellectual property. It’s a euphemism for “a law that lets me reach beyond the walls of my company and control the conduct of my critics, competitors and customers”. And “app” is just a euphemism for “a web page wrapped in enough IP to make it a felony to mod it, to protect the labour, consumer and privacy rights of its user”.

i wish i could pay somebody to calmly and patiently walk me through a switch from a macbook to a different os and buying a different computer. new things that break up my routine and muscle memory scare me so much and i get so stressed that i shut down. one time my dad bought me new headphones without asking and even though i DID need new headphones and now i love them, i cried because i got so stressed trying to set it up and figure out how it worked. and i LIVE on the computer so that would probably be even MORE stressful than switching from one noise making device to another. switching to windows or linux would take so much out of me especially if i had to do my own research and figure everything out myself but i know i have to someday, if only to spit in apples face.
