Despite the undeniable intelligence of octopuses, and the growing evidence of their sociability, there is still the perpetual challenge of correctly interpreting their behavior—especially their behavior toward us. Octopus caretakers often emphasize that many octopuses voluntarily solicit touch, play, and companionship, even when there is no food or material reward involved. Presumably, if they did not want such interactions, they would not pursue them. But that does not erase the impossibility of knowing what another species experiences, nor does it diminish the evolutionary chasm between mammals and mollusks. When an octopus rests briefly on Craig Foster’s chest, what makes us so confident that it’s a sign of friendship? When Egbert pulls on Elora Kooistra’s finger, is he really inviting her to help?
Perhaps what we perceive as affection is actually reflexive exploration by a creature whose senses of touch and taste far surpass our own. Maybe octopuses don’t regard us so much as friends or associates as giant, elaborate levers they can manipulate for their own benefit. Though we know much more about octopuses today than even a few decades ago, they retain an essential inscrutability. There is no Rosetta Stone for octopus language, if such a language even exists. There is no familiar countenance or shared repertoire of emotion to consult. Instead, we have only a makeshift semiotics—an exchange of uncertain gestures across what may well be an unbridgeable abyss.

Dude. I may have just watched all of Killing It in one day. It's amazing. I probably should've watched it slower to digest and be more articulate now. I'm really excited for season 2, I think it was ads for season 2 that got me watching it. I love the main trio so much, they're all such compelling characters and I love the friendship so much. It kind of reminds me of Rabbit, yes because of the odd job shit, but also in tone I think, how it weaves comedy and violence and emotion. That ending.

I never got to see it in person, but the closing of the old CN studios building really saddens me. I just hope that despite all this, Cartoon Network can endure the wacky corporate politics of Warner Bros Discovery, and continue to provide fun and creative animated shows for the foreseeable future.

Sorry but, I’ll never get over the fact that Craig McCracken pitched sixteen original shows to Netflix, and not a single one of them ever saw the light of day.

Depending on how the rest of the season goes, I might be a fool. Or a genius. But I think Jillian/Isaiah could be a fun ship.
Platonic Craig & Jillian is so special to me so I think Isaiah kind of disrupting that would be interesting.
Plus, I was see Isaiah give Jillian more of a chance. In S1 he was pretty dismissive of her, but I think he would've appreciated the scene in this season where she fights the guys who stole her car as much as I did.
Also think the wink he gave her was cute and not completely insincere.
When Craig is fired and it's just Jillian at the farm, and they're calling, and Craigs like "oh working for Isaiah must suck" and Jillian says "it's whatever he isn't actually around much" that peaked my interest. I'm very excited to see Craig back on the farm and see the three of them have more scenes together as a group.

Major shout outs to @SinnohShroob on Twitter for getting me this autographed picture signed by Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust themselves. I am forever grateful, and I can't wait to frame it and hang it in my house!
