Lions Beat Up On Tigers 14-2!
Tigers 2 Lions 14 W-Wong (1-0) L-Im (0-1)
The Samsung Lions were swept by the NC Dinos to start the 2020 KBO season. On Friday, the Kia Tigers came to town and the Lions shut them out for a 5-0 win at home. Tonight, the Lions looked to do the same in Game 2 from Daegu. The Tigers got the scoring started in the third inning this evening. Yong-Hwan Baek drilled a Tae-In Wong change-up out to left for a solo blast to lead-off the third inning. The homer put the Tigers on the board and they tacked on one more run in the inning. Sun-Bin Kim followed with a one-out single and Preston Tucker plated him with a run-scoring single to center. This put the Tigers up 2-0 after three innings of play. The Lions finally figured out Ki-Yang Im in the fifth inning. Min-Ho Kang started it all with a lead-off single to right. Chan-Do Park lined a base hit to left and the Lions were in business. Sung-Gyu Lee was hit by a pitch to load up the bases for the Lions. Two batters later, Dong-Yeop Kin unloaded the bases with a double to left, which put the Lions on top 3-2. The next batter, Sing-Su Kim delivered an RBI single to right to put Samsung up 4-2 after five frames of play. The Lions added an insurance run in the seventh. Sung-Gyu Lee led-off with a single to right and went to second base on a groundball. Dong-Yoep Kim hit a smash to first base that ate up Yeong-Seok Jong. Sung-Gyu Lee scored from second on the play and the Lions had a three-run advantage. The Tigers bullpen imploded in the bottom of the eighth. Heon-Gon Kim started the rally with a one-out walk. Min-Ho Kang doubled to left and Chan-Do Park was intentionally walked to load up the bases. The next batter, Sung-Gyu Lee drove in three runs with a triple to center and the Lions had a 8-2 lead. Hae-Min Park kept the chain moving with a run-scoring double and Dong-Yeop Kim reached on an error by Yeong-Seok Jong. Sang-Su Kim walked to load up the bases and Young-Jin Choi walked to score another run. Jae-Hyung Kim hit an RBI single to right and Heong-Gon Kim drew a bases loaded walk. Eung-Min Kang lined an RBI single to center and Chan-Do Park hit a sacrifice fly to left. This capped off a nine-run eighth for the Lions that saw them take a 14-2 lead. Jung-Woo Hong threw a scoreless ninth and the Lions have won two straight games against the Tigers.
-Final Thoughts- Ki-Yang Im was sailing along through four innings then hit a wall in the fifth for the Tigers. He went 4 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on five hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Tae-In Wong stayed the course after giving up two runs in the third. He lasted five innings and allowed two runs on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Dong-Yeop Kim, Min-Ho Kang, and Sung-Gyu Lee led the way with two hits each for the Lions. Three games were postponed in the KBO, which is why ESPN was forced to broadcast the Kia Tigers and Samsung Lions again. Tomorrow’s game is the LG Twins at NC Dinos. Casey Kelly will start against Young-Gyu Kim in a Sunday affair.

So I know Chris Lee Kin-Sang isn’t technically a b tier venom as he was only in like 2 Venoms movies, but I have gotten quite attached to him, so he’s going to have an honorary spot on the blog 🙈
