Art Dubai and geopolitical positioning
This year’s edition of Art Dubai, West Asia’s most significant art fair (which ended on March 5), was its strongest yet, with 130 galleries from 40 countries participating. Now in its 16th edition, the fair positions itself as a window into the world of the Global South — an oft contentious term for countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania — whose visual artistic practices would be…

Small small kanha fic please?
Prompt- The rains stop and Kanha dashes out of the house to play in puddles. It had already been very hard for Yashoda to keep him in as the strong winds knocked out trees and window panes. As if the storm with its lightning tearing the sky apart hadn't scared her to death just an hour before, she would now have to make sure her son didn't cover himself (and others) in mud from head to toe.
THIS SEEMS LIKE A PROPHETIC ASK CAUSE IT RAINED HERE FIERCELY ALL DAY
plus i get to write again after like a month or so and tysm nonnie here you go :D
Thunder and lightning rolled across the pastures, and the cows in the shed bellowed. Brajbhumi, the land of Braj, had been in the throes of a downpour since morning.
The villagers sat on their verandas or gathered under the banyan tree at the chaupal, admiring the rains and the children frolicking around in it, half naked and covered in mud, with the dogs and calves joining in every now and then.
Yashoda, sari tucked and hiked till her knees and the pallu tied around her waist, desperately tried to save her house from flooding as the water spilled over. Every now and then, the rain gods decided to torment her and unleashed the heavens, finding every leak in the roof and every hole in the house, and turning her open aangan into a pool in trying to snake into the granary and kitchens, the tulsi plant standing like a lone island in its midst. Already she had lost precious pottery and pickles and papads which she had kept outside to dry. Sweeping away the water with a stick broom and hauling away buckets of it, a thoroughly soaked Yashoda ignored a four year old Krishna's desperate pleas to go out and play in the rain.
"No Kanha, no play for you!" she scolded, scuffing his head and hurrying towards the kitchen with a copper drum to store all the grains in, anklets tinkling. She had had enough with mud, for just last year Krishna had eaten mud and when she had checked his mouth for it, she was pretty sure she hallucinated and saw the universe instead (as punishment he had gone without butter or cream for a week) - who knows what would happen if he played with it? When she returned however, she found him sitting in the aangan, sobbing as his mouth gulped in the ocassional raindrop and tears streamed down his chubby cheeks. Yashoda, keeping the drum down, walked towards him when suddenly an arc of lightning flashed, followed by a deafening boom as the sky threatened to rip itself, making her jump and raise her hands to her ears. Krishna however, started giggling and almost tumbled backwards.
Yashoda, picking him up in her arms, snuggled him close and cooed at him. "You cute little monkey, you like lightning don't you? Or do you like to see your maiya scared huh?" she asked, tickling his tummy and making him giggle even more. She then took him to her room, bathing him, drying him, and filling his tummy with bread and a big dollop of butter and sugar, his favorite meal. Laying him on the bed, she kept stroking his hair until he fell asleep. With her son now dry and sleeping, she walked out once again to battle Indra alone. Nanda had gone to Mathura to pay tribute to Kansa, Rohini had gone with Balram to her mother's home, and the lone domestic help she had, had gone home owing to the rain fever.
However, on stepping out of her room, she found the rain had slowed to a gentle drizzle. She glanced at the sky, and then back at Krishna. There was something special about her Kanha, dark as the thunderous clouds above. Things always seemed to ease up and relax around him, as if his happiness infected even trees and clouds. Smiling at him, she went back to work. She took note of the kitchen mess, and threw the soggy vegetables in the backyard pit. She wiped the whole area clean, cleaned up the remnants of the windows sacrificed to the wind, warmed water for her bath and boiled some for drinking, and lit a few diyas in each room, mumbling a quick prayer to the gods to cease the rain.
An hour passed thus. She was just about to go and bathe when the sky darkened once again. The wind howled and the windows and doors started clattering again, and it was in this sudden twist of nature that Kanha leapt from his bed, opened the door, and ran screaming with joy towards the gate, his little feet pattering on the floor.
"Kanha stop!" she shouted, trying to chase her little brat, when she slipped and fell on her bum. Krishna stopped in his tracks, turned back to face her, and started laughing again. Showing her his tongue, he ran out. She had half a mind to give a good tight slap to her obstinate little bundle of chaos, but instead she got up laughing as well and followed him out to the street.
There, she found him frolicking in the mud with the other village children, holding his pet calf's tail as it too ran to and fro with glee, the whole atmosphere pulsating with joy. Seeing her, he shouted "Maiya!" and came to her, holding her finger in his hand, leading her out into the street.
Years later she would reminisce this memory when Krishna was no longer with her, this seemingly insignificant memory of dancing with him in the rain, as the clouds opened up in Vrindavan. She would step out of her house, and once again find her Kanha there, covered in mud and smiling, shouting her name and inviting her for a final dance.

“Boost for Religious Tourism: Bihar Acquires 50 Acres in Sitamarhi for Sita Temple”
Introduction:
Following the monumental Ram temple project in Ayodhya, Bihar is set to embark on a significant endeavor: constructing a grand temple dedicated to Sita, the revered goddess, in Sitamarhi district. The decision, approved by the Bihar Cabinet, marks a pivotal moment for religious tourism in the region and is poised to elevate Sitamarhi as a prominent pilgrimage destination.
Tumblr media
Key Points:
Plans are underway to develop a sprawling temple complex spanning 50 acres around an existing temple in Sitamarhi, echoing the grandeur of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Kameshwar Chaupal, a key proponent of the initiative and trustee of the Ayodhya Temple Trust, emphasizes the cultural and spiritual significance of Sitamarhi as Sita’s birthplace, akin to Ayodhya’s association with Lord Ram.
The Bihar government’s decision to acquire additional land complements an earlier initiative to revitalize the area, reflecting a commitment to bolster religious infrastructure and tourism.
Dr. S Siddharth, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, highlights the anticipated surge in pilgrim footfall and envisions Sitamarhi evolving into a prominent pilgrimage hub akin to Tirupati.
Sitamarhi’s inclusion in the Ramayana Circuit, a central government initiative for religious tourism development, further underscores its potential as a pilgrimage hotspot.
Significance:
The project signifies Bihar’s dedication to preserving and promoting its cultural heritage, catering to the sentiments of devotees and fostering religious harmony.
With the construction of the Sita temple, Sitamarhi is poised to attract a surge in pilgrims, driving economic growth and infrastructure development in the region.
The decision aligns with ongoing efforts to harness India’s rich religious heritage for tourism, contributing to the country’s socio-economic progress.
Conclusion:
As Bihar lays the groundwork for the construction of a monumental temple dedicated to Sita, the goddess of virtue and sacrifice, it heralds a new chapter in the state’s cultural narrative. With meticulous planning and concerted efforts, Sitamarhi is poised to emerge as a beacon of religious pilgrimage, drawing devotees from far and wide to pay homage to Sita’s divine legacy. This visionary project not only enriches Bihar’s cultural landscape but also reinforces India’s enduring spiritual heritage on the global stag.
