Greg watched the sky change through the trees, the sun dropping closer to the horizon. It lit the clouds with dramatic streaks of vivid colour. The cool damp of the air carried a whiff of the germinating seeds, the spring creeping into the grounds. At any other time, it would be his favourite season. He dropped down on his haunches and picked up a handful of the topsoil. It was ready. Nearly twenty years of work, and this was the year.

Ch 32 will go up sometime today.

Ch 33 and 34 will be another two-parter, one continuing directly into the next. It's the climax of the whole story, after which, all that's left is the denoument and conclusion.

All I can say is... wow. I did not think it would take close to 200k words to finally get there. I thought I would have either abandoned this fic a long time ago, or kept the story as simple as the original idea had been.

But, well, here we are.

It's far from over, but I would say there's probably no more than a few chapters left after that. We probably won't quite hit the big 40, but we'll see. All the big questions will be answered by then, and we'll see how everyone fares in the aftermath.

Whatever's left is a consideration for the sequel, if that ever ends up happening. I'm ready to switch gears for a little bit. I've been at this far longer than I ever expected to be!

...What a ride it's been. But I've loved every minute of it.
