Also I like how vanguard recognizes that character development can just be returning to being a truer version of yourself. Like Aichi and Ibuki were both like that. When I was watching the og series week by week back in freaking 2012 or whatever I always feared the day Aichi would "grow" into abother preppy generic shounen mc, but instead he stayed shy and gentle and a little awkward, he just stopped hating himself. And Ibuki, who was a shy and awkward kid who turned into a huge toxic bully to protect himself as a teen, through character development he grew into a somewhat less shy and awkward adult who felt safe being himself. Tbh even Ren. Harmless freak to murderous villain back to harmless freak but he can open doors and cook now. It's nice.
