rae give us your thoughts on taylor swift more specifically her rich white feminist thing she’s got going on and her influence on the current ‘girlboss’ trend and the current perception of women in media today???? asking bc i love reading your opinions on this stuff 💕

it sounds like u have some opinions of ur own lol but sure i can talk abt taylor swift! will be putting it under a cut bc i love my swiftie mutuals tho...swiftie mutuals look away im going to be mean sorry....

i mean yeah overall u kinda summed it up lol. i don't think i'd really care much about taylor swift were it not for the way she's been branded as some sort of groundbreaking feminist and subsequently played into that perception to profit ("the man" makes my eyes roll out of my skull sorry...)

i think my dislike of her was first seeded when "you need to calm down" came out--before then i just hadn't really cared abt taylor swift, knew a few songs but wasn't crazy about them, etc. but then she dropped "you need to calm down" and suddenly she was getting TONS of praise for doing SO much for the queer community and i was like. well first of all the song is bad second of all she's literally comparing her online haters to violent homophobes as though those two things are in any way equal or similar experiences third of all she's getting praised for profiting off positioning herself as a #ally. like this song and music video are not some sort of feminist praxis they are a way to funnel money into her already bulging pockets.

but because literally everyone around me (many swiftie friends) was gushing over how amazing she was for hiring all those dykes + faggots to dance behind her i felt like i was being gaslit + the fact that taylor swift was just happily accepting the money + accolades at the same time made me dislike her

when folklore came out i actually did enjoy the album which was. the first time that's happened for me lol i usually like maybe one or two of her songs and think the rest are mediocre at best but i was like huh maybe she's like changing as an artist and sort of settling into a new groove that's kinda cool. and then i didn't like evermore as much but i was still like okay cool new sound new vibe. and then she dropped midnights and i tried really hard to like it for my swiftie friends but...honestly i was shocked by how bad it was lol. just felt like a new level of low in terms of bad lyrics and the music was incredibly bland and boring to me, nothing new or interesting going on there. and then i felt gaslit again by all the swifties raving abt the lyricism of lines like "draw the cat eye sharp enough to kill a man" like!!! babe that is a tumblr post from 2014...

but aside from finding it genuinely incomprehensible that she gets so much credit for being an amazing writer or lyricist when the bulk of her discography is simply incredibly mediocre or straight-up bad imo (bc honestly that alone wouldn't be enough to make me dislike her; ik these are all subjective measures so even if i find it annoying to hear people rant + rave about music i think is bad it's not gonna make me dislike the artist or the people raving necessarily) what bothers me more and solidifed my dislike of her is the continuation of the way she acted when "you need to calm down" dropped. which is to say, it's infuriating enough that her fandom has sainted her, but what's more infuriating to me is the she seems inclined to play into that sainthood.

she often leans in to portraying herself as either a victim of misogyny or a #girlboss feminist. and like--this isn't to say taylor swift hasn't experienced misogyny, or that she shouldn't talk about those experiences, or that rich white women are exempt from sexism. but her feminist consciousness seems to begin and end with her own personal experiences of sexism, with no effort at a deeper political engagement made. she flies her private jet around and poisons the environment and when people try to call her out for it she sits back and lets her fans accuse anyone that criticizes her of being sexist. in fact, it seems that any criticism of her is met with accusations of sexism, which is an infuriating obfuscation.

at the end of the day, her politics such that i have seen are incredibly liberal and toothless, and her feminism seems largely focused on making herself more money ("the man" being about "getting ahead" faster, the whole thing with that one guy owning her masters centering around a dispute over property + who gets to make money, etc). she is a capitalist first and foremost, and because of that her feminisn kind of sucks, so i hate seeing people treat her as a Feminist Figure. i also think the gaylor thing is sooooo stupid and annoying and reinforces the concept of identity first and foremost as a discrete ontological category rather than something socially constructed + materially rooted. like the idea that taylor has some mystical gay Essence inside her that exists regardless of how straight her music + lifestyle is, the makes her Queer--sorry but give me a fucking break lol. i don't give a shit if she kisses other girls, taylor swift is not a Queer Icon, and i don't understand why people desperately scrabble to find proof that she is when there are already plenty of openly gay pop singers!

in conclusion taylor swift is the epitome of #girlboss liberal feminism to me and her supposedly genius music being aggressively mediocre is just the icing on the cake lol

EVENT 02: TREE DECORATING AUCTION & CHARITY BANQUET.

this marks our second general event within the group that is not a plot drop, but could hold bearing on the future of the group & its overall plot based on muse interactions & anything that unfurls of the event itself. our image is credited to boem travel photography.

all writers within the group are welcome to message us here at the main should they ever have an idea for a character event they would like to organize ( with single or multiple muses within the group or in pairing with another writer, etc ) with our coordination & collection of details.

INFORMATION FOR TAG LURKERS / PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS :

we'd love to have muses for the event to be applied for like the town committee like the mayor, a school superintendent, head librarian, & more. feel free to inquire if you have an idea that you'd like to apply for.

GATHER 'ROUND FOR SOME YULETIDE CAROL — a fake fireplace is burning bright & emitting heat throughout the Boom Boom Room Live Grooves, who have agreed to host this year's charity banquet. the proceeds this year will be donated to the local homeless shelters to help supply food & blankets to the needy this winter season, as well as missed luxuries such as makeup products & skincare. those who have gathered have their own spritz of holiday cheer from a merchandise booth which will also see all profits donated — reindeer antlers, santa hats, and bright red rudolph noses. while waiting for the auction to begin, guests are offered non-alcoholic beverages, holiday punch & a free open bar. delectable finger foods are being served on a buffet, including pigs in a blanket, freshly-tossed caesar salad, baked yams, honey butter croissants, pumpkin tarts, snickerdoodle cookies, & more. the DJ has been replaced for this evening alone by local jazz band, Twenty Smooching Iced Pigeons, & swing + jump blues band, Banana Metal. they're grooving out to holiday tunes like Run Rudolph Run & Jingle Bell Rock & remixes of George Michael favorites, among others, while some guests hit the dance floor !! the best dancers will win free desserts from Buttermilk Sky Pie Diner. the elves — a team of nine dogs playing dress-up — help to bring each tree to auction !! this is an ascending-bit auction where participants place their bids by voicing their monetary amount. the auction will begin at 7PM. the following are up for sale : TREE NO. 1 — it's a purrfect season for a black cat christmas. no, literally. the humane society has dreamed up the gothic community's first love: a fake tree that is, from head to toe, made of Papier-mâché black cats. the eyes are strings of white bulbs, so be sure not to put it somewhere that it might blind your neighbors !! the tree topper is an orange tabby surrounded by rainbow christmas lights with a ribbon that reads ADOPT DON'T SHOP. TREE NO. 2 — a tree that is rather pathetically decorated, in the cutesy kind of way that makes you want to take it home IMMEDIATELY. a charlie brown christmas crafted by the local eye center. at its center is a huge pair of googly eyes glued down to the cedar, as well as parts from a dismantled mr. potato head hung all around in decorative cheer. mrs. potato head is the star that sits atop the tree. TREE NO. 3 — an imported tree from one of the freight harbor companies in anchorage is an absolutely dashing piece up for auction. each branch is lovingly hung with sylvanian family ( calico critters ) complete with each to their own costumes, customarily encompassing the holiday spirit. it is a tree sprayed to a pastel pink color, and a heart for the topper. TREE NO. 4 — the new trend, an upside down christmas tree ! it otherwise has all the makings that anyone could ask of a tree, the classic red ornaments dangling from every branch, the usual fixings of lights, bells and bobs. the only difference is the extra support she needs to stay afloat ! decorated & gifted by the Big Bad Wolf Demolition Company, wishing you a merry christmas & to turn that frown upside down !

Omg I love animorphs, what animals do you think the Aquato's would be?

Okay okay so I know you're asking about morphs specifically but like. The human brain loves making connections and I love making symbolic and thematic connections between the characters I like and animals my brain decides to associate them with. There is not a single blorbo that is exempt from this.

Lucrecia is associated with both turtles and otters in my mind, particularly river otters. Turtles are neat and they're (generally, not every species is) aquatic. The otter association is more because I also associate Raz with otters, and it's a neat little connection between them.

Augustus is tough and enduring, leading me to compare him to wolverines. And I know trees aren't animals but they're tall, they provide support and shelter and food to various animals, and I don't think I could not associate Augustus with trees at this point.

I associate Donatella with butterflies and birds of paradise. The butterfly is more of an aesthetic thing, though there is something to be said about the monarch butterfly's ability to complete a 2,500 mile journey in about two months. And then male birds of paradise will maintain a performance space to do their little song and dance in and do you get my vision. Do you get where I'm coming from.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Dion is like a cat. He's graceful and capable of incredible feats but also a complete dumbass. He respects his parents a lot and it shows. He is 100% the kind of guy to faceplant and then get back up and act like nothing happened and you cannot convince me otherwise. Another animal I compare/represent him with is peacocks; look at his stupid hair and tell me I'm wrong.

(Another association is with spiders; this is definitely an aesthetic thing in that an acrobat hanging from a trapeze is visually similar to a spider hanging from its thread. That's it that's the whole reason I lowkey associate Dion with spiders.)

Frazie's a lot like a bird. You could say she's like a martin (agile), a red-tailed hawk (powerful, good vision, and if you buy into the headcanon that Frazie's specialty is bladestunts then there's talons and sharp beaks). You could compare her to a bluejay (clever & brightly colored corvid) or a hummingbird (brightly colored, agile). I also lowkey associate her with ermines (tough, agile, unstoppable energy). Another association I have for her is dragonflies; they live near water (in it during their larval and nymph stages), they're fast and agile, and her hair shape reminds me of them.

Raz reminds me of mountain goats; complete defiance of gravity, stubborn, strong. And as mentioned above, I associate him with otters (aquatic, agile, creates a nice little connection between him and Lucy). A third association I have for him is possums; he's a weird little dude with a weird little look that's still cute, and the general climbing ability fits well with Raz' background as an acrobat.

Mirtala is a lot like a chickadee. Small, adorable, incredibly tough and resilient, and much braver than I'd ever be at that size. She's also associated with ferrets in my mind (adorable, lanky, agile, hyperactive). She's just so funky neat and ferrets and chickadees are so funky neat and I aughhhhhh 🥺

This is more of a headcanon but Queepie reads to me as noticeably smarter than most kids his age. Maybe he's not really, and Dion just trusts him to be right about psychics because Dion is, well, Dion, but I still associate Queepie with owls anyway, because of the wisdom association, the big eyes, and the fact that baby owls (like most baby birds) look so very weird and Queepie is,,,, a weird-looking kid. I also associate him with ants because of his strength.
